1. Learn In 10 Dynamic Typography Illustration: Hello everyone. My name is Marcus and I'm a designer and animator based in London. And welcome to my new class series, learning ten, where I teach great techniques in ten minutes or a little bit more. Today, I'll share with you how to design these typographic illustration. It's a great project and very dynamic. We will be exploring the peripheral 2D tools inside Adobe Illustrator and some really cool ways to work with color and composition. It's a short class, but filled with great tips and knowledge. Do you want to learn something really cool in 10 minutes? Enroll now and I will see you in class.
2. Lesson 01 - Class Project and Document Setup: Hello everyone and welcome to one more learning ten. So today our class project, we'll be designing disposer. It's mostly topography and there is like a three-dimensionality applied to it. We're going to apply this using some 3D effects in Illustrator, which will be really easy and quick. So and then we've just going to play with some nice warm colors here and create some nice composition to bring our ward meaning into action. Like as though and yet I was trying to make a joke, but, well, yeah, let's do it. So the first thing we need to do is actually start our document. So if you are using a 1080 by 1350 resolution, which is the Instagram post resolution. Normally I only post my personal projects and my passion projects on Instagram because they're not professional. So in a nice diagram is a tool I use more to share my work. So I already put as my work taking a water resolution there. So it's 1080 by 1350. And let's press Create.
3. Lesson 02 - Choosing your Word and Font: So the first thing I'm going to use the same word I used before, which was action. And yeah, I use the text tool here. And I'm going to select two, are going to make it a little bit like this. And actually don't like this font because yeah, this is Myriad Pro is the first font that illustrators applies to you, but you can change it easily. So there is multiple ways you can change your font. You can just select the font and go to the menu here. And then you select which one do you want to use for this exercise. You can actually go in, use like filters and then you can just try to find which Bellefonte applies to you. Or you can actually select your font here and right-click and go to Font. And just wait a little bit because you're going to open it. And then you can actually access the entire font library here, which is Eleanor, or sometimes it's quicker and are sometimes if you know the name of the font, can just type it there. So I'm actually going to type it because I want to use we're going to use food tour. I think there was that one I use for that exercise before. So for tuna is probably already have it on your computer. So if you went to the same phone bill, please feel free. Or if you want to go to an internet search for any other phones, playing some 2D perspective. And to the effect into this time.
4. Lesson 03 - Applying the 3D Effect: So cool. Now let's apply some 3D into this typography. So the first thing, let's select this world here. Let's go to object and let's go to Expand. So this way, this world, we won't be at what anymore? As soon as you do this, you can change the world. So be sure. This is the world he went to work with and press. Okay, so I just selected, drag it down and let's go to Effect, and let's go to 3D, Extrude and Bevel. Actually first I'm going to turn my letters into white. You're going to see why. So it's a wide knowledge is changed there in the swatches and I were to 3D Extrude and Bevel. The ticker use white is because the 3D we'll use of light. And if he's the latter is black, the light won't affect it. So, and because we are using y two, you actually can see the gray now because the shadows and well, we're not going to use them, but it's better for reference. So here we have that, our perspectives you can actually change my normally if you want to, just try it for a really nice perspective that we want to use. Here you can change the depth of whole big Yuan liked your extrude to be small. Let's just use 50. And here you can play with lights. But for this exercise, we're not going to go much further with this. So actually let's go to custom rotation here, and let's click Tab. And that's going to use isometric top, which will put our letters in the isometric perspective. And let's just press Okay. And yeah, this is the 3D effect is done. And this is the mentee we actually need for our exercise. So again, less go to object and expand. In the next lesson, we're going to start to having some color and play with the composition of these letters. We're going to apply some rotation and scale and a little bit and see how we can make like a really nice composition using this word. So I've seen the next lesson.
5. Lesson 04 - Colours & composition: I think color is my favorite part of any project. Let's select this and let's ungroup it first. Just like this. And now we are going to find our color. Let's go to Color Themes. Yes. So other colored teams shows you a like a library of amazing color sets already. You can use any of these or can you use your own? So you can create your own here, or you can just explore and find some really nice ones. So for this exercise, I'm actually going to use one off here so I don't spin two hours as trying to decide which color I'm going to use, which is normal. I want to just use this one here. I want to add it to my swatches. And here I wanted to find my swatches. They are here. So as you can see here, here's our new library that we just had it from the other quality Explorer. So now let's start applying some colors into these fonts. Maybe I will just select this and apply a color, orange color selected first, of course. And to be able to understand the latter better are going up by some stroke color as well. So I'm going to just apply a white. Just like this. Yes. And C, I'm going to use a different color. Maybe you read maybe a dark orange actually. And I'm going to apply a stroke in white as well. So here we need to actually do something in C here because of the 3D effect. If GFS you create more shapes. And the way you can solve this is actually collapsing his ships together. So let's select these men shape here. And let's go to pathfinder and just click here, which will add all the shapes together. You will unite them. So, and again, same thing here. Unite them. And yes, Perfect, No problems. Now, let's select T and just copy the color from a. Selects. I call copy the colors as make sure it's a group. It is o. I'm using the eyedropper tool just to pick up the colors from other letters. And it's a quicker way just rather than selecting the quiet right-hand corner. Do the same thing here on the unite them and unite them again. Or there is something there. It's every time we do this it will start to present you a different result. So yeah, it probably that's when they're the same forms as me. If you are using different words but action, and I'm going to use and write this. Well, let me just double-check the columns areas using okay. Yeah, makes us it's okay for now. So the next thing now we're going to do is play a little bit. How are you going to compose this scene? So let's just drag the a to the middle. Let's select him. And that's just reflected, Oh my God, here is vertically, so you have to switch the orientation of the a. You can select recently vertically or you can choose your own angle. In this case are going to use a vertical one and press Okay. And I'm going to leave it here, gonna get C. And going maybe. Now we're gonna keep the same scales for now. I'm going to leave see here, going to get the tea. I mean, we did. She actually went to refers the reflection as well to vertical. So you need to be, you need to be able to read it, you know, like so be aware of on your computer. You can lose the meaning of the word you're trying to portray it and illustrate. And now I'm going select them all like this. And I'm going to just scale it a little bit like this. Perfect. And I'm going to maybe Center at you, everybody who is aligned tools here. Just for now. Let's start playing with some rotation. Select the shape and you press R. The rotation possibility, possibilities happen. So you just start to be able to rotate this as you want. So I'm going to go rotate E, learner rotated t to make something a little bit more dynamic. And play a little bit with the position of the letters. Like this, action cannot rotate. Oh, maybe that way. Because the OH comes after and then n. Yes, something more like this. Maybe even can play a little bit with scale if I just selected and then press E. You actually lets me play around with scale so you can actually add Law, little bit of more perspective into the scene. And yeah, and the next thing we're going to do is actually change some colors here. I'm going to make these wide. And this one white as well. Just switches the core sets here. So there's more contrast and that we actually can understand a little bit better. And here I will, I'm just double-clicking over the group and then I can select the shapes here. I'm going to add a little bit of that darker color like to simulate kinda affirm. I took kind of a shadow. If you, if that makes sense. Actually better, I'm going to use as a symbol of the exercise. I'm going to make the strokes dark like this, so there is no perfect matching them. So you're going to get black as well. Yes. Perfect, something like this would be amazing. And now let's just change adding some different colors here to simulate maybe a little bit of flight. In this case. Let's use the same color. And let's do the same for these latter a like this. And that's the same here. Maybe you're going to actually use some whites as well to make some lighter scenes. The important thing here is just to try to add a little bit of more detail into the illustration. Like if there were like casting shadows or even like a little bit of like a fake shadows, mostly exact. Someone painted it. It doesn't do actually mean to to be exactly a shadow respecting your light point or Sunday. So let's just select this one and this one, let's make it red like this. And here we are a problem because there is a red as well. Maybe actually we use or the color for a here and B is orange and we use rarely inside. Like this. Yes is looking really nice already. And I'm going to use orange here. Red would be okay, would be, the n will be white then, which will need to make, see white as well. So yes, something like this. You can actually play a little bit more with the shadows and the colors you don't need. You can use more colors if you want to. Be totally free with it. I will stop it now because I don't want to make this a little bit longer. And I believe you can do the rest without much kindness now. So in the next lesson, we're gonna just had a little bit of more detail. We don't add a little bit background onto the scene and a little bit of more elements just to head a little bit of more story to the scene. So I see in the next lesson.
6. Lesson 05 - Final edits and Details: Hi everyone. And I hope everyone is having fun doing is they're exercise. So now we're going to just make a little bit of detail and just finishing this. So we are ready for our next course. So the first thing, let's use our rectangle tool here. And let's just drag it until down from the corner. Unless had like a grayish color, or it could be totally white as well. The thing about the grayish color is like you differentiate from the white on letter, which is, is great to head a little bit of more depth. Now, maybe I want to make it a little bit lighter gray. No, I don't think I'm gonna do is us these islet with ellipsoidal, a little circle behind. And we're going to make it maybe a dark red. And I'm going to just right-click on it, Transform, Arrange, Send backward. So actually let's just sent to the bag and then select the background. Send the background to the back. And maybe it Let's just change for a correlate creates a little bit more contrast. Let me just scroll up here to explore some options in order to get attached to entertain. So we're going to leave it like this or correct. C is already looking really nice. I really like this type of dynamic composition happening here. I think it's really, it's really interesting that you feel like they are two up like the climbing on each other. And I don't know, I feel, I feel like it's so interesting when you can actually see the first glimpse. You see o is a really nice illustration, but then you actually understand it's like something else is also a word which, which could be like your manifesto or like action to your life. Or I don't know, some something inspiring. I think these days a lot of potential on this technique. And I'll just go into little bit of detail. And now we're going to use a rectangle tool again. And I'm going to draw a little circle, little rectangles, sorry, square. And I'm going to get this numbers here, gonna make it 55 to be like a exact number. Even a copy this, I'm going to remove the stroke and I'm going to treat the Extrude and Bevel again. But here I will use a 55 here to make a perfect cube. Let's press Okay. Actually let's go back. We need to, we need our attributes here, and let's go to a periods. And I select here, sorry, I just have too many windows happening right now on my screen. Okay, let's go to attributes. Right-click and let's just change your perspective to isometric top as well. And press Okay, Let's go to object, expand appearance. And let's go. So now we go, now select these shapes as well. Let's steal the colors from now the letters like this. And yet we now have a cube that we can actually add to our illustration. And rotated maker had a little bit of more detail, scale it up and down. The idea is just to head a little bit of more interesting visual on it. So like a little blocks here and air, maybe with a different directions and something just like this. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't want to stop here. I will let you play around with this now. I think please be sure to make the exercise, the class exercise, or really want to see what you guys come up too. Again, I'm really sorry not to be able to make these classes in ten minutes. I just noticed is impossible to teach someday in design in ten minutes. And well, if you've enjoyed this class, please give me a follow. Leave me a review on a class and do the class exercise. I love to see what you guys design all the time. And please don't hesitate to reach me on Facebook or an Instagram, whoever my details on my profile. So yeah, I'm here to help. Have a nice day. Bye-bye.
