1. How to Sew Bunting - Intro: Hi. Welcome to my tutorial on how to make some beautiful bunting. What I'll say about bunting is it's a really easy project to make. And if I think back several years ago, when I first started to, So Bon Team was the thing that I did before I started to so any type of clothing I practiced and practiced so bunting because it really gets she used to So being straight seam lines and understand in the construction of how things get put together, there's loads of different types of bunting that you can make on. You can make real simple ones where it's just a piece of fabric that's caught was exact. Says is with a piece of tape over the top. And that's fine if you want to use it just temporarily, or you might want it for the Garden party or something like that. But the bun teen that I like to make is fully lined because I wanted to look really good in my rooms. I wanted to be part of the furnishing. I don't want it to last forever and ever eso If you look on the back of my bond, you can see that it is fully lined. There's also the option to add some pretty lace like I have on here. If lace isn't your thing, you don't need to do that at all. You can just get that step but have included that in the lesson videos as well as a bonus lesson. Valentines Also great for kids If you've got kids who are looking for a project to learn how to, so there's nothing too difficult at all about This is just about so in Straight Seems on understanding the construction eso If you have got sewing machine on your kids, want to give sewing ago, then definitely get them to watch the lessons. And I'd love to see what they make. My kids have both made Ballantyne. It was the first things that I taught them to, so that one of my daughters isn't really that interested in so in anymore. But the other one has now going on to make a couple of dresses and things, so it's definitely a great start to project. Materials: Okay, so let's have a look at what materials on tools you need to make the bunting starting with fabrics. So what I've got here is my main fabric. So I'm working with Kath. Kids don't, cotton dork, which is a really great wait for Boynton because it does have quite a bit of stability. But you you can make bunting pretty much out of any contact fabrics. I'm So what I'm having is thief laurel on a polka dot contrast. So I'll have one flag, floral, one flag, polka dot floral polka dot eso that is their fabric that I'm using. You will then need a lining fabric, and you want to try and get the lining fabric. To be a similar weight to the main fabric that you're working with just needs to be cheap. You don't need to spend a lot of money on the lining fabric for Bunty. I have used Kurt and lining in the past because that is really cheap on you. Get loads, but it's really wide, but I don't have any in stock at the moment. So I amusing just a basic calico fabric for the lining which works fine. This well you will then need a triangle template Teoh court around to make your flags. What I'm using is a triangle quilting ruler just makes it quicker because I can just caught directly around that onto the fabric. I wouldn't worry about it. If you haven't got one of these. You don't need to go out and waste money buying one unless you're gonna use it for all the things you can. Just simply caught out a triangle in a sheet paper. Cut it to draw it to whatever side you want and caught it out on Ben. Use that to caught around to make your flags. But I have to say I'm going to be using the quilt in ruler. You'll need some scissors or a rotary quarter because I'm going to be caught in directly around the ruler onto the fabric. I'm gonna use a rotor recorder. If it is that you wanted to use the traditional method off pinning your paper pattern onto the fabric. Then, of course, you says is to cut around it. You're gonna need something to help to turn the push the corners out once you've sewn the flag together. What I'm using here is a Bodkin, which is a really simple tool, but it's super useful. It's used for mainly for turning really small things inside out. I'm but for this purpose, it's great as well. So don't if you can see there. It has got like a ball on the end of it, so it means you can push the corner out, but it hasn't got a sharp end, so it's not gonna pius your fabric, so the body can is great. I have heard of people using Croce who saw nitty needles or something like that if you haven't got a Bodkin. But these are only about thinking about a pound or something like that to buy and is useful toe having your seven kit, you're going to need bias binding to so the top off the Clinton Strip again. You don't need you come buy really expensive, bias binding. You don't need it for Boynton. I've just got the box basic white cotton bias binding here, which will work fine optionally you can add some lace what I like to do once I've sewn my bunting all together, and I do like to add a bit of lace over the top as well, just to make it look a little bit more pretty. You don't need to do that, and lace may not be your thing, But if you do want to add lace, you'll need some of that. And then, of course, you will need a sewing machine. Um, and you'll need an iron as well for pressing the flags at once. You've seen them unturned them inside out, and I'd always have a core pity on hand as well as with any sewing project. So those are the tools Andi materials that you'll need. So not not a great deal of equipment for Montana is a really simple project to work on eso . That's the tools that's the materials on in the next video. What I'll show you is how to put out your flags on, get them put together, ready for seven 3. Cutting the Flags: Okay, so I'm going to show you now how to caught out the bunting flags now acquitted out in slightly different ways depending on what type of fabric that I'm working with. So you'll see this beautiful crafted stone floral fabric has got really beautiful flowers, but they're quiet, wild, spread out. But I want to ensure that I am selecting the right piece off the fabric that I want show in on my bunting flag. So I'm working with the fabric just opened out flat here. It's not folded in half that I am only caught in one flag at a time. Andi, you will that from fabric waste here? Because I'm gonna be selecting exactly where I want the flag to be caught. So another useful method through using these clear sultan rulers as you can see exactly where the pattern is underneath the rule of So I'm going to start with my first flag about that. So it just put some pressure down, toehold in place and then caught it out with my road record. I do definitely need a new blade on my quarter. In fact, I think I'm gonna treat myself to when you believe this weekend. Okay, so that's the first flag on. I've got the large flower clearly visible on the flag, even when it's been stitched together on the base. Binding has been indeed around the edge. That lovely flower is going to be really visible on that flag. So then I would, um, do the same again. So again I'd want the nice big flower Quiet Central. So it caught out around there on that. Keep doing that until I got the number of flags that need. We're going to show you how when I caught it out on the spotty fabric where it's just the same print all over and because you can do that and a quicker methods and to ensure that you're not wasting the fabric as well. So this time I've got the fabric folded in two, so I'm cutting out two flags at once, so I'm going to start with the first flag. - Just get to the right position. That come was in the way of where I would normally caught. I'll just come around the other side. Okay, so that's the 1st 2 triangles caught out. I don't know if you couldn't see on my rule. The reason what? How I know which way around the flag goes is the bottom off. The ruler is flat. It doesn't go down to a point. It's caught off right at the end. So if you were doing a paper template, I'd suggest to do that as well. Have it pointy at the two top coldness but flat on the end. Okay, So cutting out the next two flags then and to avoid waste, there's no kind of directional pattern on this. It's just dot So it doesn't matter if it it's upside down eso to ensure that I'm not gonna waste any. All of dawn is it was like that before I flipped it around on, lined up this edge with where, rafters court. And then I will caught around the triangle that, um, and then the next one out, flick it back again online until Platt that and keep going, said, and in that way you're cutting them out really quickly on you're not wasting any fabric as well. So that's how I caught it out on anywhere like this. You've got lots off pattern on there, but it doesn't matter in which direction it's facing you're not going to end up with some flags upside down. I'm. And also, when I am cutting out the lining, I do it in that way as well, because that's just playing. Okay, so in the next lesson, I'm gonna show you how to pin the triangles together, Aunt, How to get them stitched. 4. Pin the Flags: Okay, so now I've got my bunting flags or cut out in the two different main fabrics. And in the lining, I'm going to get them pinned together, ready to so eso I'm making an eight flag. Boynton. So what I've got here is four of the spotty four off the floral, under eight off the lining. I'm so I'm going to start with one of the florals or you'll need is some pens as well. So what you want to do is get one off on the first fabric flex and put that right side of the fabric facing up towards you. You then want to get the lining and you want that to be right side facing down. If you've got a right or wrong side on this calico that I'm working with, there isn't really a right or wrong side, so it doesn't matter. So the main fabric is right side facing off. You need to put your lining fabric with the right side of the fabric facing down on top of that one. Just lying. The Oprah Remember that? The bottom point off the flag I'm has been flattened off The tip has been caught off so make sure you've got them lined up correctly, so you'll have a point there on a point there at the bottom of the flag on the tip has just been caught off. Now what you need to do is you need to pin the two, eh? Geez, you don't put any pins at the top because you won't stitch that part off the flag at this stage because you'll be put in the bias binding on the top of their. So just put a few pens and around those edges, making sure that they do stay. Put it up together at the edge tight, so well, then repeat that with the rest off my flags. Eso Just to recap, Put the patterned fabric with the right side facing up towards you. Put your lining fabric on top with the right side facing down. Make sure you've got the pointy edges at the top and the bit where the temp has been caught off at the bottom and put pens along there and along there. You don't need to put any pens at the top. That's it. So in the next video, what we'll do is we'll take this over to the sewing machine and I'll show you how to sew the seams 5. Sewing the flags: Okay, So just to show you a couple off the controls that I'll be using on my sewing machine, which will be out of shocked Wellston sewing when you are sowing your see when you get to the bottom point, what you need to do is leave the needle in the fabric. So you competitive around on the bottom that I use for that. Is this one here? Someone, My machine. It shone as too little arrows. Um, so what you do is you press that button on that will shoot the needle down or back up again if it's already down. So that's the first control that you'll hear me talking about it. Some serving. The 2nd 1 is this one here, which is my back stitch botton. So on my machine, it shone with a curved line with an arrow on the end of it on that is, at the start off sewing a seam, you'll go forward to stitch. I'll then press the back stitch button just so it goes back on itself, which will ensure that the stitch line doesn't calm on dawn as answer me. So I'll do that at the start off the scene on at the end. Off the Seamus. Well, so that's the back stitch button. I'm just using a standard straight stitch, which is number one on my machine on I'm just using the standard length Andi with that, my machine sets which iss 3.5 by 2.2. But whatever the standard straight stick plant that you machine uses will be fine for bunting. Okay, so what? Show you how to sew the flux themselves? Okay, so I'm going to show you how I'm going to. So the seam on the bottom team flag, I'm going to show you on where I'm zoomed out here so you can see which bits of the flag I'm sewing. But then a will. So it again, but really zoomed in here so you can see how I'm insuring. I can keep my seams straight. So I've got the bowling team flag here with the pens. Eso here is the top of the flag, which I'm not going to. So there's no pens in there. I got the right hon. Side of the flag. He is the bottom point where the edge has been cut off, and then the left hand side off the flag. I'm going to say the one sent to me to see him, but I'll go into more detail on that On the zoomed in version Im se Well, I'm gonna dio a start on this right, hon? Side been so down to the bottom, have it and sew up the left hand side. So it's kind of done in one continuous seem line, uh, going to remove opinions as ago when I get to the bottom, about one centimeter away from the tip. Just gonna leave the needle and leave the needle in the fabric. Left him oppressive. Four top. Then I can just pivot it round. So what I'm gonna do now is so down the left hand side, was it? So I've got a stitch line now seem line. The top isn't sewn, but I've got a seam line which is running down the right hand side pivoted at the corner And then I sold the left hand side. So keep watching on I will show you and give you a little bit more advice on how to ensure that the seem line stays straight as you're so we gotta do one zoomed in. Okay, so I'm going to show you now how I'm serving the scene on the bunten flag. I'm using a one centimeter seam allowance. Eso Hopefully you can see here on my Serbian plate. I have got a guide Eso one sent to me two or 3/8 of an inch is the seam allowance that I'm looking to So if you are brand new to so be my biggest tip is to never, ever look at the needle when you're so we Onley ever look at the edge off this fabric here to make sure that you keep in any straight line If you watch, the needle is you're so mean you'll end up with it going or curvy and all over the place. Just don't look at it all. Just look to make sure that this edge of the fabric stays lined up with whichever seam allowance guide that you look into, So So to start off with, I just do a couple of steps choose refusing a straight stitch, do a back stitch just to hold it in place. They do this slowly so you can see remove the pens as you go. So I'm not looking at my needle. It all. All I'm doing is watching that piece of fabric. State line ducked that one centimeter. What? One sun tip line When you get near to the tip where the bottom of the flag where the tip has been caught off, You want to stop when you're about one centimeter away? Put the needle entered. The needle stays in the fabric that you'll have a button on your sewing machine to put the needle down. Left, you press the fourth floor on, spin the flag around, and then you can start saving people the side. So again, not watching the needle. I'm just checking the one centimeter lying, keeping out one son to meet until I get to the edge. I just do my back stitch again to secure, and that is it. That's the stitching finished on the first flag 6. Pressing the Flags: Okay, so now you've sown your bunting flags on the sewing machine. What we're going to do now is turned them right side out and press them so they do resemble a bunting. Flack will have the ones I've already done here. So this is how you've pulled it off the seven machine. So you've not stitched that, But there you've stitched all the way down the right inside, you've stitched but the left hand side. So what we're going to do now is just trim the seam allowance to about half the size that it is now. So my scene stitching line is there. So what I'm going to do is trim about that on the other side and then just snipped the point off the end what you're then going to do with turn this right side out. So because you haven't stitched the top, just turn it right side out. But what you'll see is the point stays stuck inside. And this is where you're use your object to push the corner out. So I've got my Bodkin. You can have a crash, a needle or knitting needle or whatever you're using. Just trying not use something that's got a point on the end because you could end up Pierce in the fabric. So all I'm going to do is just give it a few pushes on the point and that's it. So that's ready to press, which will do in a second. So I'll just do that again on this one. So trim the seam allowance to about half its size. Snip the point off the end, turn it right side out, and then use my Bodkin to push out that point. I want a little bit. Okay, well, I'm now going to do is press them. Some was gonna bring my I am. So what you want to do when you're pressing, you just want to rubble it first of all, until that side seam feels flat and just flatten it out a little bit with your finger on then get you you some steam because it helps to set it and then do the same on the other side. Just roll it, roll the sea, press it a little bit, but he fingers and then give a final press on the tech. That's what just do the same with the other. But the steam might steaming at my come Robitaille. So roll it until you feel the scene. Go flat, press to the same on the other side. Just roll it slightly on press into the point So there's the order is gonna wait a minute for that steam to clear. So what I will have in the second is four spotty under four off the floral. And then all I'm going to do now is you'll see that on the top you've just got the little corners just peeping through the end. And I'm just going to snip those off from the same on the other side, the same on that one. Snip off the corners. So then what I've got is 1234 spotting. Let's just move the signing board out of the way, said this four spotty flag. So that's what they look like on the right side on as they are fully lined, the line is on the back on. The seams are now and closed inside, so force body and for floral ready to turn into a bunten strip. So in the next lesson, I'm going to show you how to So those flags to the bias binding so that that top edge is fully enclosed inside the bias bindings that you can't see any of the rule Reggie's, so show you how to do that in the next class. 7. Attach Bias Binding Step 1: Okay, so now all the bunting flags are pressed. What we're going to do is attach the bias binding so we can start to create theme stripped that goes on the top, which will conceal the raw veggies. So I've got my bias binding. I'm gonna use my cutting mat to help to measure how far away I want each flag. If you don't have a court in madmen, don't worry. You could refuse a tape measure. It's like that with the same. So don't worry about that at all. So what I'm going to do, you'll see with bias binding. How it how it works is it's folded to you can see here at the top and at the bottom this folded allergies. Sometimes you'll find the fold comes right the way into the center. It's fine, the same same process that you follow. So, first of all, I need to leave a length off bias binding at the end because you want a little bit of drape before you have a flag and I'm going to leave about five in cheese. So there's five in cheese, so just gonna put pen. So I was I know where I'm starting about the five inch point. So the way that you first of all, attacked your bias binding is you will open up this top fold. You see, it was folded down like that. What? I'm doing this opening it off on. I'm matching the top off the bias binding to the top off the fabric, and I'll just put a couple of pens in place, okay? And then I'm going to move on to the next flag. So remember to alternate your fabric, it's up to you. How far apart you want your flags to be spaced on. This bunten that I'm making is just going to go over a fire half I'm so it doesn't need to be very long, So I'm gonna put my bunting flags quite close together. Something else. You may want it if you can see the sun little squiggly bits of fabric on the end as you go in the if you see those, just trim them off. So I'm gonna use my mat to look at an inch above them an inch apart. If you haven't got a mat, just use your tape measure to measure one inch. So again, the bias binding is opened up at that top on the top of the bias. Binding is matched up to the top off the fabric. And put another couple of pens okay, and you just keep going like that, so I'll just show you one more someone to a spotty flag again. Now I want them to be one inch apart, said as my one inch gap. If you haven't got a map just measured with a tape measure, bias binding us opened or on the top of the bias binding matches the top off the fabric. Okay, so that's how it's looking so far. Keep going and doing that with the rest off your flags. So just keep going along, measuring how far apart you want them open the bias binding or much the top of the bias, binding to the top of the fabric and pin it in place. What we are going to do next at the sewing machine is stitch along this fold line. So all the way along that fold line, and then what we do is we flip the bias binding over, and it will conceal that raw edge. But I'll show you that as a separate, so I'll just head over to the sewing machine and I'll show you how to do that. Okay, so what I'm gonna do now is so the bias binding the first step of attaching the bias bind into the bunten. So as a sub before what I'm going to do is so along the fold line that's been opened off on the bias binding. Making sure that that's the edge of the bias binding remains level with the edge off the fabric, as I so to the first thing that I do is line up my so in fort to that fold line so I can see which of the guidelines on my seven plate that I'm following eso on your so in Fort you'll you'll find there's Little Arrow, which tells you where your needle is going to go into the fabric. Eso have lined up that little arrow with the fold line of the bias binding, and then I can see that that means that to ensure that I can so in a straight line and not have to look at my needle. Like I said before, I'm making sure that the fabric stays lined up with this line here, which is the the line before the one center mitral, 3/8 to the line that some people will put a piece of tape or something like that renewal on the machine to make it easier. If you feel that you need to do, then that that then that's fine. I'm diffusing straight stitch as I did before. Um, I'm starting at the edge off the first flag. So he is the flags. My first it was going to be at the edge. So let's say with them before I'm going to do a back stitch to secure it at the end. I'm going to remove the pens was ago. Just make sure when you get into the corners off your bunten flag, just make sure that the corner doesn't kind of get caught up in the fort or anything like that, and that it stays flat. And then you can just keep sewing over the by finding fold where you got the gap between the flanks. But just make sure again that corner that you're now going to move on to stays flat. Sometimes if it gets a little bit stuck up, just give it a little Paul behind the machine. Their shoes in a little bit of pressure, and it helps to pull it through. Okay, I was given it a little. Pull it back again. I'm gonna pull the back. Doesn't move onto the next blood. So I'm not what human need LA talks If a watchman needle I know malign or start going wonky . I'm just watching to ensure that the edge of the base binding of fabric here stays lined up with that line. So you just keep going on, do that until you get to the end off your final flag on, do a back stitch again when you get to there, and then I'll show you what the next step is. 8. Attach Bias Binding Step 2: Okay, so now we're gonna look at the second step into attaching the bias binding. So what we've just gone is sown all the way along the first fold line, attaching it to the flags. What we're now going to do is fold bias binding over to the back so that it encloses this role. Wretch. I say I'm going to show you what to do with these ends afterwards. First of all, we're just gonna concentrate on getting it folded over the flags. So all you need to dio is lift the bias binding or plant that and flip the flags over. Just ensure that the back seam is facing upwards. And then you're just folding the bias binding to the fault. The folded edge there stays folded and you folded it over the back, ensuring that that stays enclosed on the front side. What I'm going to do is get them the two pieces of the bias binding so they're pretty much on top of one another are just have the top side of the bias binding slightly higher than the bottom. So you congee just see the bottom of the base binding picking underneath. And that's just so that when I stitch it on this area here, where there's a gap and there's no flag, it just ensures that the two pieces of bias bind enjoying together. So I'll just show you that again before the start putting some pins and so this is how it is when you bring off your machine, you're just folding it over and sure that the back off the triangles is facing Corp so that it's enclosed in the bias binding. You folded it over to the back, and we're going to go along and put some pins. And so I just have a couple of pens. And as I'm going and sure in that, both edges of the base baron did are folded. So all those raw veggies are closed under check the fabric as in closed at the back. - How that one there the fabric is the edge of the fabric is facing down to make sure issues you your fingers. You could go over it with an Aryan if you felt that it was necessary book, and I find that ever used my fingers and just rub it over, it tends to stay in place in off anyway neatly to be on. No, there are different ways in which you can use by expanding. And I do use it in different ways. Depending on what observing. Sometimes you will so it onto the wrong side of the fabric. First of all, so what? You're up to the doing? This flipping it. This what we're what we're doing on the back now ends up on the front. Um, but I find that this method the easiest for bunting the last one. And then I'll show you what to do with the ends. Okay, so that's the raw veggies are enclosed all the way along at both the front on the back. So on the end, PCs, what you want to do is fold it to ensure that this Andi is enclosed as it's folded over. So what you want to do? First of all, this open up both ends off the bias binding like that unfolded over just by about a centimeter. So it's opened out for that and I folded it and by about a centimeter, then fold those edges back and again like that. So I got it opened out flat, folded it in towards itself and then folded the energies back in again. What you can't then do is just snip the corners off there, unfold over again and then fold it in half, right that and then just fold. I find in the half. So what? We will do a stitch all the way along. You can see it peeping out a little bit. Actually, what I'm going to do is snip those corners there. It's a bit light wrapping a parcel. Just nip two corners there and there. That's better. That's much neater. Now under stick in the end. Show you that again from this. And so open it up, bowled over by about a centimeter unfold again over the fold lines snipped the corners, fold it over again and snip those corners and then fold it in half. So then the rule allergies are fully enclosed. June. Just stick a pin. Okay, so that's everything fully enclosed. Now you might want to go over and add some pens, some more pens in to keep it in place for you recorded on that A. Did it really added, penned in each end of the flag to make sure that those corners stay in place That's if you carry on along at a pen in here, the side to the flag. Or just do that the first time round two independent it just up to rather than one that I did. And then what we'll do is we'll take it over to the sewing machine on what we're going to do is so straight stitch line just slightly off on the bias. Binding and step draw all the way along there, and that will then ensure that the front on the back is stitched in place. You can you can if you wanted to stitch in line to be totally invisible. You can do what's called Stitch in the ditch, where you stitch in that actual seem line there. And but that can be a little bit tricky because sometimes it doesn't catch in the right place at the back on. For Bunten, having a stitch line running along the top really isn't a problem at all. Until I had to keep it simple for yourself and just slow it. Stitch the line slightly up, which I'll show you on the seven machine 9. Attach Bias Binding Step 3: Okay, So what we're now going to do is stitch the bias binding together. So it's joining ALS. These enclosed, eh? Geez, Andi stitching it closed over the top off the flags. I've started at the end off the bias binding. Another said before I want the stitch line to be slightly above the edge off the bias binding. So as before, I'm lining off the little arrow on my sewing machine foot, which just showed me where my needle is going to fall on. Then I'm seeing which line I am working with on my so in plate here on, it's the one centimeter line. Now, when you are because we folded over the edge on the end off the bias binding. What you may find is that that your struggle to get that through the sewing machine eso ah , riel. Great tip. When you're doing that, whenever you're starting a an end of ah, so in line is too get the two pieces of thread which are really around the back, which is your cotton and your Bobby. I'm just gently Paul as you're serving towards the back of the machine which will help to pull the the fabric through. It's going to take the pen out. I'm going to get that in the right place. I've got hold off the two threads at the back. I'm just using a straight statue. Gain under gently, pull and then I'm gonna do my back stitch gently pull until you feel that it's feeding through enough. She is now and then. Now I'm getting hold off the bias binding at the back there to help to pull it through, because it's such a narrow strip that you're so mean it can you can find that it can start T guide after what I'm doing here is I'm holding it at the back. But I'm also holding it just in front of the machine here just to help keep it straight as it's seven. Okay, so when you get to you first flag, just make sure the stitching Linus running in there in the right place. So it's just up slightly from the edge of the bias binding again. I'm holding it at the back, and I'm holding it at the front. Don't put too much pressure on at the frontier because your sewing machine, the feed dogs, are gonna want t to move the fabrics. You don't want to be resisting that. But it's just holding it in north so that you keep that control. You can. I'm just going to remove the pin. - And you just keep doing that all the way along until you get to the other end when you're so in the other end again, just be careful that it doesn't get jammed open swallowed opinion machine just by keeping it pulled taut. Keeps. In fact, I was going to stop the video, but keeps coming to the end. Okay, so I'm just going to carry on with that. My memory card just went out on the camera then. So sorry about that interruption. - When you're selling something so narrow for the first time, I would just keep so being slowly so that you keep that control. What? You've done it a few times. You do get used to it, - Neil , lately And okay , so, serving along this and straight, take the pen out. Just make sure that stays closed just by putting your finger on it. And when you get close to the end, do you backstage? Is it so that is all stitched? It's enclosed on the front and back. I'll show you that in more detail when you get back to the table. But what you can also do you can just keep the ends like that because they are nice and tidy because you enclose theologies. If you wanted to form a loop, so if you wanted to hunger over a nail or something like that on the war, what you can do is fold it over by a couple of centimetres on, then just stitch over the top. Now, a smalls exact stitch is better for that. So I'm just gonna change to a sex act. I'm doing 2.5 by 2.5, pulling the threads at the back again to help it guide through. That's got stuck. Could get stuff like that. Just pull it out and trim it again. Go. So now I've got a loop that I can attach to. And now you're Laure. Whatever. I want to hang it over. Okay, so that is how to finish the bias. Binding 10. Adding the Lace (Optional): Okay, so now that you've stitched the bias binding all the way along, you've got a finished one teen flag which is fully lined. So you'll find that this will last you for every whenever it won't get scraggly where it starts kind of bending and curly north where the sun set it because you've lined it, It will just last forever and ever. So just to show you what it looks like so you can see on the front has your stitching line near invisible anyway. But your statue line there's enclosing it on the front, on on the back bias binding is stitched down because you just caught a stitch line over the edge off the bias binding. Now what you can do optionally, as I said at the beginning, is add lace, which I am going to do because I just think it a lot. I like the style. I just think it just gives it that finishing touch Eso he is my lace and what I'm going to do to get this ready to. So I'm just folding the end back on itself slightly so that that roar end will be and closed. And then what I'm going to do is line the top off the lace up with the stitch line that I've just sewn along the bias binding. I'm just starting my lace at the end of the first flag. I'm not going to be starting it it all all the way along the bias binding strip. So just put in a few Pepin's hold that in place keep going pending it in on the stitch line that you created. Okay, just to give you an idea of what it's gonna look like when it's finished, it's really pretty. I think when you add a bit of lace and especially with these type of floral fabrics and of course it depends on your style, and it depends on where you're going to be hung in it as well. But for me, I'm going to put this in my sewing room, which is quite vintage themed. So the lace, I think, just gives it that finishing touch. So keep going along, adding any pens on them will head over to the sewing machine, and I'll just show you how to stick that in place. Okay, so what I'm gonna do now is so the top edge off the lace so as we've just shown in the last video what you've done. If you've attached the lace level with the's Stitch line, which runs along the bias binding now to attach the lace, it's better to work with. A very small was exact stitch. So I've got my seven machine step set, his exact stitch with Theo, the width unde length, both set at one. So it's a real small stitch line, so I've already started to the very end here. So what did do my back stitch along? Now let's say this is the only exception where, all the time before what I've said to not watch you needle. I always watched the so in plate because your needing to ensure that your your stitches catching the top of that lace. What would say on here is keep your eye on the actual edge of the lace and make sure that the that the needle and the stitching Linus catching that as before. If you feel that it's not feeding through the machine is, it should just get a gentle call from the back on a gentle push from the froth. So just keep doing that all the way along. At the other end off the by, 19 have done the same as they did at the start of Just folded the edge off the lace over Andi finished it to end a t end of the last flag. So carry on stitching that all the way along on and then I'll show you how to make it even more secure by so in the bottom. Okay, so now the lace has been attached along the top off the base binding. What I'm now going to do is stitch the lace down on each of the individual flags. And this just ensures that you don't have the lace kind of kicking open going out of shape as it's hanging eso again. This is an exception to the rule off. Using the sewing plate is your guide. You need to be looking to ensure that you are so we in the right place of the lace. I'm continuing with my zigzag stitch, which is set at with one on day length one on then. All I'm doing is a Step Jim, trying to keep my stitch line in the thicker white bit off the laced on just move into flags around, see that just pivoting the flux. So and then when you get to the end of the slog, just do a little back stitch because you will need to. So each one individually, Andi, snip off the threads so you can see that the laces now securely attached to the one team flag. It's invisible from the front. You will see a small stitch line from the back, but this is going to be hung up on a wall or something like that, so you won't see the back anyway, So you just need to continue to do that on each off the flags and that set that will be your bunten or finished. 11. How to Sew Bunting - Goodbye: so that's it. Hopefully, you've successfully made some beautiful bunten and that's ready to hung over your mantle piece on one of your walls, or it's ready to give to somebody as a gift.
