1. Intro: 2. Lesson #1: How to Draw Bangs + Tools: Hi jasmine here. Thank you so much for joining me. I will be using this paper by Fabriano Bristol. Always inquire nor pencils six BHB and be in blending stump. And the next sector knife, mechanical pencil eraser. So the first thing is to draw from the top of the head towards the highlights in this image, you can see the arrows that I digitally added to illustrate the direction of the hair sprawl and the direction of the strokes that we have to draw it. So here in the middle layer should be straight. And the more you draw them towards the left and right sides. And as you finish the line, you just lift off the tip of the pencil slightly to make their ends, to make the ends of the strokes disappear into the paper. And it will make the highlight a fear around. Suppress very hard hint here in order to cover the paper completely. So if you don't want to draw black hair like me, you can use an HB here or any other mental. Ok, let's make them a bit longer here. You can see how my ends are pretty bright, much lighter than the top of the head because release depressurized Danish strokes. And now as we draw towards the right side, we have to make the strokes. Kirby can use an eight or nine B or seven b, it has to be 6B. So those BB rentals are pretty similar. 3b or 4B. And hear about the ears. We can feel the areas so we don't need the highlights here. And, but of course it will depend on the light source. But now we're creating the banks. I'll save the light is coming from our point of view. Okay, and now I'm using an HB because I want to do the to go over the ends to make them much lighter. And here what I'm drawing the strokes right now I want to make highlight and it will, it will be arched. So that's why I'm making this strokes and the middle longer like this. Okay. And here also I am using a beep mental because I wanted this to be darker, but not too dark. So we have to make that gradient transition between the black, the darkest parts of the hair and highlights. So they don't have to gradually flow into each other. And now again, I'm using this CSV like this. Okay, now I want to fill this area completely, really 6B because I don't want to have highlight here. So only over the forehead. And I do this brief fast, but you just take your time and draw strokes by stroke BY stroke patiently. Okay, so the next thing is to draw the strokes starting from the bottom of the banks and towards the highlights like this in this image you can see the arrows. And so this is the guide that we have to use for when drawing the strokes. So you can see in the middle there straight and then they have to be more and more curve. Also, we draw them towards the left and right sides. Here we will have highlight like this. So let's do it. And let's draw the strokes that start from the bottom of the banks and doors to highlight. And I'm using the 6P again. And I pressed very hard when I started draw. Here's here at the bottom and same here I just release the pressure. As I finish this lines over the highlight and hear about the temple, you can make them a bit longer. And of course here to highlight should be placed, placed higher. If we want to achieve that arched shape up to highlight this. And just lift off of your parental hasn't finished strokes and make some of these logs a little bit separated. And so here in the very middle of the forehead they should be straight and kinda shorter, much shorter like this. Okay. And now let's blend the bottom of the banks with the blending stump. So everything that you draw you out to blend, because it will make here appear soft and shiny. And of course, it will look like the shadow cast by the banks over the skin. And I am continue with a 6B. And now here you can see how the banks actually become shiny and look more around. They don't look, the hair don't look flat anymore. And I'm just apply a bit more or to highlight because it's still seems to be too light. And I'm using an HB now because it's much lighter pencil. So I don't want to make too dark and the highlight too much. And I don't want to call it completely or to make some strokes at random as a contamination to 6B. And of course every time I I reached the highlight, a liftoff, the lead of the parental. So now as we draw the stroke stores derived side, we have to draw them more curved. And of course longer, longer and longer as we draw down towards the right side. And here also just press hard on the very bottom. And then just the Recently released a pressure and always blend the ends with a blending stump or with a Q-Tip. And here also I wanted to separate his locks and bit to make it more natural. So if they're all stick together, it's not good at doesn't look natural. Just want to blend this highlights and I'm following here flow like this. You can always go back and change whenever you want. I'm using a beat Benkler here. And now let's continue towards the right side. Just the way I'm just mentioned. And here also above the Temple, I wanted to create a longer here like this. And also here to highlight should be placed higher than it is in the middle. Because we need that shape of the highlight. This. And don't rush, just take your time. The speed WorldCom with experiences. You know, I have to rush onto color it completely because I want to create any highlights here. But of course, if we had a light source coming from the left or the right side, the highlights would be completely different. And this is how the highlight should look. If the light source is coming from our point of view. I just wanted to dark and ate more because I still can see the white dots of the paper and I want to cover them. So always follow the flow, the hair. And so here we can add What do we want tour. I just want to make this gradient transition more. Lives like this. So if you have dark in it too much, you can always erase. Erase too much. You can always apply graphite over that again with the blending stump. And here also let's make this highlight them by creating the longer black strokes here, like this. Now better. And if you want to make the highlight even more prominent, you can draw are under highlights. And now you can darkened areas if necessary. So it is important to make gradient transition between the highlights and basic color over here. And that's why I'm applying an eighth v here. And I just want to blend it. And now let's draw some additional heres. Why ways highlight the flyways. Over to highlight the end. I'm using mechanical eraser. I just place it in the middle of the highlight and I move it outwards. And here also, if I make it too long, I just covered it with the blending stump and just use a quick confident strokes motions. And now it can blend this. And also let's add some flyways with a 10K sector knife here at random, wherever you want, like this. Show me your drawings and see with the next tutorial, bye-bye. 3. Lesson #2: Drawing Straight Hair - Part 1: So this is my sketch with the eyes and shaded forehead. I wonder draw over this and I have imagined the light source coming from the upper right corner. And I have to draw the hair accordingly. So the first thing is to determine the position of the highlight, which will be found here. And then I have to go from the top to me anyway and from the bottom to Midway. And it will create the highlights where the ends of the strokes and okay, let's do it. I'm using an HB lead in my mechanical pencil, and I start here at the top and I draw the hairs, doors, the highlight. And I press hard on the top and I release the pressure as I reached the highlight. So I just lightly lift off lead of my pencil to create a brighter and of the hair of the strokes. Here over the highlight. I'm using a mechanical pencil because it allows me to create a here the same thickness. And it's very practical and better. But you can use regular pencil. So it's really time consuming and you have to draw hair by hair. But it requires patience and a lot of time. And sometimes it takes more time than a whole phase. A. So just focus on a small section of hair creating strokes from both ends. Back section. I'm doing this because usually the top and bottom part of the hair is typically darker than the middle where the hair curves. And where do here curves. Abortion closest to you, which is usually in the middle, is exposed to more light. And here, when you draw next to the skin, just go over the skin. So draw some strokes or the skin like this flyways. And also with quick confident motions, create a hair's in one pass. Don't make the skin because it can look like a week. Okay, and now let's do the same from the opposite direction. I start here next to the year over the ear. And I also press hard and I just release the pressure as I reached to highlight like this. And I always use quick confident motions like this. So don't be afraid if some of the here does it go in the direction where you want to write what you think it should be because hair moves, it can be everywhere. So just relax and create a line in one bests. And also some of the hairs can be longer like this and go over to highlight. And sum should be shorter. You can see that some of my stroke, so Goldberg to highlight, suggests apply variety of lines and also change the pressure and your pencil. Okay, now I want to darken more this part of the top using a 2B elite in my mechanical pencil. And here also I press hard and the top. But I don't go close too to highlight this time. Just create shorter lines this time because I want to make this area much darker. And of course we have to make this the tone flow. These dawns flow into each other gradually. So this is very important. I still feel it's not dark enough, so I just wanted to use an 8B pencil. But of course it depends on the color of the hair you want to draw. I wanted to draw a line brown here. But if you want to draw black or hair or dark brown, so this area should be much darker. And here I want to make tiny curvy. Here like this, where the hair grows from the roots. So it goes upward and then it just bent. And this is what I want to achieve here. So as you can see, this midtone is actually also gradation of the grey colors. And I'm using it to age now. And I go over the highlights because there's still too bright to me. And here the same, I press hard HB and I release the pressure as I go over to highlight. And now I'm using an HB again. And I just want to separate the highlighted strings by creating, creating the darker parts between them like this. 4. Drawing Straight Hair - Part 2: Okay, and now let's blend it all with the tissue and star here over the highlight and just follow the direction of the airflow. And just blend it all and press hard to impress the graphite into the paper. I always blended here with a tissue because it makes it look look soft in immune shinier. And now I can build up to me Don farther. I'm using a beep pencil here. So I just wanted to dark and more the top of the hair. After you blend a bit towards the tissue, you will see that the debt drawn areas will become a little bit liner. The areas that you drew with the beep rentals. And here of course, next to the face, to the skin, I wanted to create, kinda cast a shadow. Shadow cast by the here. And also create some flyways. So never leave the edge between the hair and background. Clean. Always break it up with some flyways. Ok. Age b. And I want to add more flyways here. And when creating these flyways, just relax and create them in one pass with confident motions like this. You can't mess with it so they can be anywhere. And I'm using this mechanical pencil eraser by Dumbo to create a highlighted here is here in the middle. I just place the tip of an racer. Really highlight ere. I just moved up outwards like this. And then I release the pressure so that the highlighted hairs can disappear into the basic. Don't knock the hair. And I want to use this rental razor and benton. So I want to highlight kind of strands in general and not individual hairs. This just at random. Ok. And now I just want to create some flyways, some highlighted flowers with my mechanical pencil eraser like this. So you can see this is a very practical tool because we just can't cut the top of the gun with a knife. And to get a sharp edge, you get a sharp edge of the Eraser, Which is great as you can see for creating highlighted flyways. Tiny details. And if you don't like some of these highlighted flyways, you just go over them with a pencil or with the blending stump and you can eliminate, eliminate them. And now we can draw the lower part of this on this side just AS a continuation to the hair that we drew. And let's first grade the darkest barred next to the face. And I'm using an HB lead here. So this way we are considering the face. So just carefully. We're creating the space between the hair and the face, which is also hair, actually, but it's deep inside, gets less light, so it should be always darker. And now we can draw long strokes on this side like this. Just a simple straight here. So it's a very good practice for the beginners because it's thought that complicated. And don't worry if you have visible lines between the two sections like me, so that we have separately drawn because we are going to blend it and these darker lines would disappear. And this is a very monotone work here and here you can train your patients actually. And it always, as you can see, I cover the drawn part of my drawing with a separate piece of paper to avoid smudging so I can leave my hand on it. So just avoid touching the paper. Never touch it with your fingers, with your skin. Even before you have drawn in anything. So it will be visible. When we applied the fat from our skin. So it sounded good. Just like this. Okay, and now we can blend it with the tissue and you can see how it becomes darker now and soft. And you can see that those lines that I was talking about, all those lines just disappear. So they will just blend it together like this. Okay. Like this, just press hard with a tissue. And now we can create some darker parts. And I'm using it to be here. And I just want to make this space between the face and hear much darker. Just very carefully here next to the face. And let's blend it with the blending stump permit. So here we can go into details at modulus you want or you can just leave it like this. But you can work more on it. And I'm cheating a little bit the neck here, because this kind of hairstyle would cast strong shadow over the neck, particularly in the upper area of the neck. And I just want to separate some locks. So now we just have to shape some heres, some logs or between the log sand to add some highlights. And we're done with this left side. And now let's blend these dark areas with the blending stump. Like this. And we can create highlights. Just use it. People, fewer eraser like this. And arrays where you want to make lighter logs like this. So this side of the here would be less eliminated. If we have a lot our light source coming from the top right corner. But still it has to have some highlights. This can be even drawn better, but it's very difficult to draw from imagination. When I have referenced photo, I can see the hairs to shadows and highlights. 5. Drawing Straight Hair - Part 3: Okay, now we can move to the right side of the head and the highlights wouldn't be here. And here also we have to start from the top, yours, the highlight, and over the year and upwards towards the highlight. So here you can see the error lines that I have digitally added to show you the direction of the here. And now you have to draw them. And you can see the next to the roots. You have to draw them a bit upwards and intimate them curry. And to draw them downwards towards the highlight. Like this. So in general, all this right side of the hair should be much lighter than the here and the left side. If our light source is coming from the top right corner. And I'm using the 2B lead in my mechanical bento. And instar here from the top next to the roots like this. And as you can see, I create tiny curved lines. And here you can see we should leave out the line to indicate the departed here caught. So just don't draw over debt. And we can also blend. So these tiny bend starting parts of the hair, they get less light. Okay. Okay, like this here also next to the skin. And draw some short flyways. And now let's continue drawing the hair and the right side with an elite. And the whole right side of the hair should be much lighter as I mentioned. And let's start with the upper area of this, this section. Like this, just as a continuation to these tiny We just drew. And following those are lines that I showed here also, we have to draw the here from the top to Midway. And of course to lift off before we finish this strokes. And of course some of the strokes can go over to highlight. And now let's do the same from the opposite direction. And I'm still using an HB. And I go towards the highlight length is. And also by using heavier to lighter pressure. Like this. Okay, let's blend it with a tissue like this. And again, you can see I've becomes darker and softer. And can see how the lighter areas become darker and the dark areas become lighter after blending like this. Ok, so I just want to apply more of the pencil here over these tiny hears this. And now let's add some details and also fly away. So each section, as you can see, is the same. The cast shadow between the here in the forehead. And I'm using an array for this. And of course this has to be blended and blended with the blending stump. Let's create some darker parts between the locks like this. To separate a, highlight H, B. But I don't press too hard here. 6. Drawing Straight Hair - Part 4: As always, we have to break into the background. And also here, over to here. I can now let's grade some highlights with an eraser. Here. Just don't press too hard. Just make it a bit lighter. And now I just want to add some highlighted flyways with my mechanical eraser like this. Okay. Okay, now we can move to this area here to finish the here because this is the only area left and here I just want to draw straight here. So this is also pretty simple step and I'm still using atrial lead. And so this is the same thing that we did on left side. And here we have to make it a bit lighter. Same here, we can now blend it with a tissue. We can create darker hairs between the face and I'm using it to be here. And of course, the shadow cast. I just want to blend it with a Q-Tip. And here on the left side, let's create some darker areas between the locks. And I'm using it here. And I just want to make it a bit different like this. Ok, so this is bringing offered to beginners. But if you want to draw realistic hair on or to make it better, you have to go much more into details and to practice more. And of course you can take a look at reference photos. Then it's much easier to draw. Like done like this from scratch. But the most important is to practice these techniques and to train your hand to be able to change the pressure on your pencil so that you can achieve what you want for your pencils. And let's create some highlights. And of course now we can create some highlighted flower ways with the sharp edge of an eraser. So I don't think that we can do actually this with a kneaded eraser. So, and that's why this mechanical erasers much better. It's much harder and then we can create this line. So needed erasers is to solve for this. But of course you can try with that too.
