1. About the Class: Mes sticking and technology is advancing of a breakneck pace. There's a feeling that if you don't hurry, you might be left behind. People often talk about how computers will soon replace many professions including designers and illustrators. Not too long ago, it seemed impossible for computers to replicate creative processes. Hello, my name is Marina and I'm a designer, illustrator, and small business owner. I've been working in the field of design for over 12 years. My portfolio includes work from major IT products such as the multiplayer game world of tanks. Furthermore, for many years I have been creating and selling my illustrations on platforms like Creative Market as Red Bubble and society. I believe that truly replacing designers and illustrators is impossible. That's because a designer is first and foremost a person who creates products based on personal experience, values and ideas. Current ideas, important themes and values are things that computer can never replicate. So instead of port of losing your job, I suggest looking at the situation from a different perspective. In this lesson, I want to share my thoughts on how to harness artificial intelligence and make it your companion greater than competitor. I will also share the process of creating a unique poster using modern technology. I will be very pleased if you enjoy this class. 2. What is Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence is a collection of algorithms and computer programs that can perform tasks that were previously only possible for humans in the world of art. This means that AI can help us to create amazing illustrations, expanding our creative possibilities. Next, let's talk about the tools and software I used to work with artificial intelligence. 3. Tools and Software: In my work, I often rely on programs like Chart GPT. It helps me to work with text and generate descriptions and sometimes even ideas as well as mid journey and its counterparts like ideogram AI. These tools have incredible capabilities for generating ideas, shapes, and textures. That can serve as the foundation for my illustrations. Now let's get to the most interesting part. 4. The Work Process: The process of creating an illustration with the help of artificial intelligence. I'll show you some steps and explain how AI helps me come up with unique ideas. Fine winning compositions, and cool color combinations. Here are a few examples of my work created using artificial intelligence. I drew them myself and that is crucial for me. I love to draw and I want to infuse my style and vision into each piece. However, AI has assisted me with certain aspects. Let me show you what and how. 5. Research: Research is undoubtedly one of the most challenging stage in illustration work. Once you've decided what to draw, we can turn to another AI. To today, I'll be using ideogram. I like that it's free, at least for now and relatively fast. We will need a prompt. By the way, if you're not sure how to write props, you can ask GPT. I use ideogram to create references for my future work. It's important to address the ethical aspect here. 6. The Ethical Aspect: I don't sell images generated by AI. I find it unfair and even uninteresting. But I appreciate that AI allows me to select a great composition and find suitable references in a matter of minutes. It's no secret that all artists use references in their work. When working with other people illustrations, we always have to strike a balance between inspiration and copying. But when working AI, things are a bit easier. Technically, an image you generate is your intellectual property. Even if you simply trace it, there's nothing to complain about legally. However, the degree of acceptability is something that each artist determines for themselves. I like to use AI as a companion, something like draw me a pink tiger looking down and then 50 more such tigers. From those I select the images that are closed to my vision of what I plan to draw. Then I use them as references. I might borrow something from one place, something else from another, interpret it in my own way, add my own touches, and apply my color scheme. In my opinion, this approach is even safer for artists in terms of plagiarism. You can be sure that you're drawing inspiration from non existent art and you won't accidentally copy anyone else's work. Now it's time for creativity, and this is something I'm not willing to delegate to any AI. 7. Time for Creativity: Specifically today. I'm drawing in the procreate app on my ipad, but you can use any other software. Despite the fact that I can simply take a reference and redraw it, I find it uninteresting. That's why I take different elements from various references, don't copy the lines but into them in my own way. Of course, when drawing something like a tiger space, for example, I need to maintain some similarity to the original, certain details so that the tiger looks like a tiger. But otherwise, I can use my imagination. I have my own color palette that I use for drawing. Choosing colors has been easier for me. Additionally, I want to create the illusion of freeze of printing. I use special brushes that help me achieve this effect. If you are interested, I can create a separate course on how to draw in this technique with recommendations and the tools I use in my work. I enjoy a simple flat design. I don't go into too much detail. I like to emphasize color in my work as well as bright color combinations. As you can see, AI greatly speeds up my work. There is no need to spend a lot of time searching for suitable references. You can create them yourself in seconds. This allows me to spend more time on the actual illustration process. If you are interested in how I draw, I believe there will be more videos on this topic in the future. Subscribe to me as a teacher if you are interested Today, video has a different focus. Here is the result. As you can see, it doesn't closely resemble what AI generated. I've created a unique posture in my style, just as I planned. 8. Tips and Recommendations: In the final stages, I'll share some tips and recommendations on how each of you can start using artificial intelligence in your art. Remember that AI is a tool and your creativity always remains unique. Approach it with that perspective, we can worry that AI will replace us all. Or we can start thinking today about how to use it in our work and which part of the process we were willing to delegate to it. Artificial intelligence opens up incredible new possibilities. And I'm sure that future of art will be even more exciting, be creative experiment, and don't be afraid to embrace new technologies.
