1. Intro: Hello there. Many Miss Francesca and I'm in Italian surface and textile designer with the great passion for sketching and watercolors. Ruling in the last period have been a lot into sketching food and food related subjects. So I thought it will be nice to share what I've learned about it with you. Everyone has at least once took a picture of a nice meal cooked by yourself or off offensive plates and restaurant to put on social media or just to remember it. I love food, and I think that it is you draw in our lives and drawing It is a nice way to celebrate it, but also to include ourselves in that memory. Our experiences and emotions related to that food and sketching can be a funny way to do. It is the second class of a six classes Siri's all about food sketching that is releasing over six weeks. If you haven't followed the 1st 1 I strongly suggest you to do it because they jam packed with useful information, and it's a great starting point to approach food sketching In this class, we show you how to create a nice sketch of something very sushi we will analyze the features that can make your sketch a realistic but expressive representation of them. And I'll tell you all my tips and tricks to apply to your drawing in the classes to follow . We will move to more complex subjects to sketch, and you will see my process to create them. Using their knowledge, we're building in the serious step by step. As I say, I choose watercolors to paint my drumming so we'll give you some tips and advises on how to use them to get the moralistic result from your drawings. As last part of this series of classes, I will teach you how to digitalize your drawings and turn them into a nice cover for your receipts notebook or with the same skills you can print your way out and framing, too and needs in your kitchen, for example. So grab your brushes and be ready to get mouthwatering from watercolors. 2. Materials: supplies for this class watercolor. In this class, of course, I'm going to use several shades of watercolors and specifically a pink, permanently threat like threat. Permanent orange, Salman and pains agree, think and someone our new color, too awkward that are basically the pastor color that that activates with water. Another thing that I want to point out is that, for example, I'm using permanent like thread and light red that are supposedly very similar color. But since they're from two different brand warnings from Winsor and Newton, Cartman's line and one is from my memory, they are really, really different. My advice is, if you can try the same color from different brands and see which one it's your favorite, or even if in some occasion it could be more interesting for you to have the same color by from different brands, so you can decide in every occasion which one is the best feet for your sketch. I'm gonna also use a pencil and erase spent and razor as a fun liner. I'm gonna use their 0.5 black is your point to black and s dark sepia that it's from Faber Castell Peter Suspense set you're going also need some Russians, so I'm going to use a medium sites. Water brush is most sites with a brush and inside three synthetic brush. Other stuff. You're going to need our watercolor paper and please take one that it's at least 300 grams per square meter. And EPA let a addition my case on a water container, a k a message are and the paper thought would. 3. Salmon sushi: before starts to sketch our someone. So she lets take a look at its gift features. Shape the rice is sticking and forms a solid block for our sketching purpose. Elect to picture it as a simple squarish shaped with rounded corners. Salman the salmon lies on the rise following the ship of the rice, but not completely, since it has his own solidity, and it doesn't bend too much as you can see from the picture here. Color. Let's see rice first. What a color white or very pale elements is always tricky because you have two options. Leave the paper untouched, but it's almost impossible to give that without adding any color or you some color. I prefer to go with these options, and you have to decide which kind of Tony want to give. I, alternatively, go with a light washer Payne's gray because it's pretty neutral or with the very whitewash of some other colors that are already in sketch. In this sketch, I'm going to use both pains great and some Scarlett mix it together. Salman. His own goal, right? Yeah, but this this one is wrote so it's pretty orange rather than pink. So I'm going to use a mix of Salman permanent orange permanent like threat and light red. I like to use different shades off premiums cooler, but you can achieve the same color results by mixing them yourself texture. Rice, as I mentioned before, elected sketch sushi's rise as a solid block, but it's my own personal preferences. So, of course, if you want to, you can be more detailed and throw each single grain of rice. Even if I'm not interested in drawing each race green. I like to give some texture to my rice, so I drove some you kind of shapes but rotated counterclockwise. It's going to be more clear when you seems catching it texture wise. The Salman has some white lines, the fat of the meat that looks like an American bomb Potter. It's a very important feature to keep to make the Salman more recognizable these days. The days are really great to be the context for your registration, and in the next class about the Steps sketch, we'll go deeper into another function that details can have LP to tell a story. But even without experience much about it now, you can already start experiments on your sketch by adding affinities on what? Arming anything to my sushi sketches. But you can, if you want to some great details that you cannot hear our chopstick. Or was that me paste and ginger or all of them? And now let's see how I draw and watercolor our salmon sushi. I started by tracing the shapes with pencil. First, I sketch the rise as a rectangular block with rounded corners On top of it, I placed the salmon's allies trying to give it a natural look by picturing it bending over the rise. The answer. Roundish. And I simply try to picture the Salman as an organic allies not too straight, but with clean edge. As it's supposed to me. I traced the outline using a 0.5 black fine liner, and while I was tracing, I realized that I want my rise more treaty shaped, so I just added a couple of lines in perspective as it will be seen slightly from its left angle. Then I had some curvy shapes to mimic the rice grain, trying to place them very random. I raised the pencil lines, refined some lines with the fine liner and cover my mistake with a brush and somebody proof white acrylic paint. Now I lightly sketch with pencil the areas that I want to live white, so it's easier to see where I don't want to apply color. The first color layer is a very light wash off Salman that I intensify a little bit at the ends off the Salman. Then I proceed, adding the light red and using a clean brush with just water, I blend the color to be lighter as I go from the top to the bottom. I also apply a second and 1/3 layer off the same color, focusing on the top and blending towards the bottom. Next, I had something permanent orange to warm up and reach more orangutan to speed up the drying process. I'm using an author gun, but you can also use the inner dryer. Just be careful with the temperature and the distance. I proceed, applying a wash off Salman caller and another off light red. I tend to draw a line off color where I want the corner to be more intense and then a blend to obtain ingredient effect. I also drew some vertical lines with brush and blend them to give media off the midst picture. If you apply color in and wanted areas, you can easily pick it up with a paper towel for the rice. I'm using a very light wash off base greed and adding some more intense wash off pains. Great esports here and there to make summarize greens pop up more as you can see here. I didn't check if the white acrylic was dry before putting water, but I will fix it in a moment. Meanwhile, I'm using some white or acrylic paint to cover some smudges here, and there is not a necessity if you have more precise than me, though Hamas landing if you extra rise green with my fine line here using some very light wash off left read. I'm making a shadow under the Salman, and I'm going over it with some pays, great insisting on the left side because I consider the light coming from the front right, So this part should be shadow, so this sushi was pretty easy right now. Let's move to the shrimp sushi 4. Shrimp sushi: how to draw and watercolor shrimping areas. Sushi as usual, let's first analyze the key features. Since the rice features are the same for both sushi's. I won't go over them again, but you will see this lights with all day enforced in his class as well. So you need just supposed the lesson to draw or take notes without have to go back to the previous lesson if you need to refer to them. Shape as for the Solomon, the shrimp lies on the rights following the shape of it. Besides, off course, the tales that it's more solid and that stays firm color since on sushi, we generally use steam streams there pinkish and white. Depending on the species and the light, you can see a more Salman tone, orangey color or more pink. One. I'm going to use the same color communication as personal sushi, So a mix of Salman permanent orange permanent red I like red texture on the body streams has some almost a strike pattern that can change in different species. But I like to scare treat like is likely Chevron pattern, where the pinkish part is a little bit smaller than the white one. I also use the same colors to mark the line in the center of the back. As you can see in the picture here did taste as per salmon sushi. I decided not to add any details here, but, of course that you can do it. And now let's Stars Group also for the shrimping 80. I started rolling their eyes in the same rectangular kind of shape as in the previous lesson. Then I moved to the shrimp. I'm sketching the tail in the same way I did in the stream sketch lesson in food sketching class one for the body. I pay attention to draw a U shape on the left hand, basically the left hand of my stream as almost in our shape, I'm changing. Maybe the rise shape now that I'm sure how I want the shrimps look like. As I mentioned in the food sketching cast, one draw with pencil first will allow you to work on the best shape, but you can achieve great results by just sketching with ink. The final effect will be even more sketchy and spontaneous, and that could be a better feet for your style. Then you think pencil. First, there's no right or wrong in the sense. The best thing about sketching is how personal and communicative it is. Even with only the income paper as usual, I traced the lines with 0.5 fine liner and residency lines, using a wash of Salman caller, I'm going first the middle line and then the Chevron pattern on the ships back. I called her also city in the same way, using a clean brush with some water. After a few seconds, I blend in with the color so the white areas will be slightly pinkish and not the paper white. I'm moving around the edges with the Salman color to create a little dimension. Then I apply a second layer of color using permanent light red to intensify the color towards the right hand and on the tail. I keep adding washes off permanent light red to reach the color saturation I want. I'm also adding some permanent orange to finish the shrimp toe color the rice I'm doing the same step as in the Salman Sushi lesson, a light wash off Payne's gray over the rice and some dots on random rest screens, applying more color with my brush. After drying the sketch with hot air gun, I had some shows under the stream and some final touches off permanent right red, especially on the way toward some texture. And that's it. Our strengthening it is, so she is done. 5. Outro: our second food sketching class is over. I hope that you enjoyed it. And I'd love to see your sketches in the project section of this class. Next week, I raise the third class of this Siri's how to sketch and watercolorist Check the difficulty level and the time required are a little bit more than the ones you needed for this class. But our promise are broke down every single step. So sketching your sec will be fun and not not stressful at all. If you have any comments, feedback or questions, please feel free to ask me in the discussion section of the class and I will answer as soon as possible.
