1. Intro: Hello. My name is Gary, and I'm based in Los Angeles, California. I'm a U X you I designer and welcome to my figure course. Big was a very powerful tool, primarily because you can design in it and you can also do life prototypes in it. And also, it's something that lives directly on your Web browser. So you're not relying on any software. You don't have to really necessarily install anything on any computers. In this course. Where we're going to do is I'm going to show you how to use some of the basic tools and how I kind of work with them. And after that, I'm going to create a wire frame just with one screen, and from that wire frame, I'm going to create a high fidelity design using some of those tools. And then from that high fidelity design, we're gonna also make a prototype. So that way you could learn the whole package very, very quickly. I've specifically designed this course for somebody just trying to get their feet wet and just really starting off in figure. As a beginner, I know you're gonna do a great job spending the short time with me. Let's coat 2. Why Figma: some of the main reasons why figments such a good program is. Basically, it's like I mentioned earlier. It's purely browser based. You literally can just open it up in, ah, modern browser and just start designing away. It's a very lightweight program and doesn't require that much resource is of your computer , so you can have older computer and everything should still work. Fine figure allows multiple designers working on the same exact document at the exact same time, meaning I could be working on this document in Los Angeles, and another person could be working on the exact same document in Israel, and we could be both modifying stuff simultaneously. It works very fast and smooth, and just with a little effort, it's pretty easy to learn. Handoffs are pretty simple as well. After you're done with your file, there's a little share button. You just click that and get a link, and you could just send that off to developers or other decision makers where anyone else and used to see that and things kind of get saved similar to Dropbox Google Drive just directly in the cloud. I do want to mention that the software is completely free for individuals, and I think everybody really should be using this thing and really taken advantage of it. In the next video, I'm going to show you how to get started in Fig MMA and also use some of the basic tools. 3. Getting Started: in this video, I'm going to quickly show you how to get started in fig MMA. So I'm over here on igman dot com. That's where you wanna go to create your first account, and pretty much you could see that they have, you know, a couple of videos, different things, kind of explaining and describing what kind of what they can do and what they do. There's really nice video. I recommend checking that out when you get a chance, but the very first thing you want to do is go to the sign up SETI and the top right click that and pretty much here you put your email, put your password and just create your first account and just kind of follow the steps. Once you create your account, you will follow a couple steps and you'll get to this basic screen for the most part of the screen will be empty and won't have too many files. For now, pretty much you could see here on the top left, you'll start off. You'll have your account, which will have your basic information in your profile, and then you have ah, search. You could search for fouls for Beginning will be empty, but eventually you'll have a lot of files there, and this will show you a recent files of different files. Europan recently here showing different plug ins that you can install, and I'll talk about that a little later. It's very useful here. You have draft various follows you worked on, and this will be your very first projects, which want to do is just hit file new, and you have a brand new canvas where you can get started on. And if you want to go back your goal in this little hamburger icon and you just get back to files and you come back, you see your new file has been generated. If you have to catch Father, you can basically take this catch files and import them into this browser directly around this area and convert them into figure files for you is very, very useful and also to remind you that we are browser based, so that's very, very powerful 4. Tools: Now let me show you a few tools and panels in this amazing program. So first of all, I changed this name. You cannot really change this name to anything you want, just right click and go to rename. And you could just call the follow up to whatever. And I'm just calling it our first file. So I'm just clicking in and going inside the file that we made earlier and in here, starting on the left side, this would be where all the layers will exist. On the top left side, we have different. Now we have this menu which has different options, that we can do different things. But I normally start off by making a frame in that frame. You can see here on the right side you can have different frames that you're working with. Let's say you're working with an iPhone 11 pro, so you can click that. And now we just created that creative art board for you. That frame. And basically, when you create their friend, you could see here on the left side those those would be your layers so you can create various things that live in the layers like I'm just creating these random boxes and you could see that as I'm creating the boxes, the layers get created on the left side. If I want to scale the box, I can hold shift and just hold bottom right side. And I'm just moving in and it's scaling it in proportion. Or if I want to change the box size, I can move it up and down, left and right, and they'll change on the top here. Also, I can there's line aero lips, polygon star and you can place images so like let's just do one for an example so I can do like a line and I could just create lines. I wanna if I wanna have just want to create lines for for my design. If I want to wear a wire frame or something like that, I can just create lines. Another way to To do these is just do with shortcuts. I can just hit L. And then when I hit L, it lets me create Ah, this line and it again lets me create this line. And speaking of shortcuts, I can go here on the on the bottom right side and hit the question mark and here, keyboard shortcuts and literally I can see all the shortcuts that exists within this application, which are very, very helpful and makes my work flow away faster. So, for example, one of the important shortcuts that he used are you space. So I had it space. It does the hanky, which, if you used photo shop or illustrator any other design program, that's like a pretty standard. Another shortcuts that's very popular That I like using is doing command period, which hides the menu. So I'm hitting command, period, and you could see here the left and the right side and the top all get hidden. So if I'm just zoomed in, I did command plus and I'm zooming in and I'm heading command minus and zooming out another important thing that I like. So I'm a big fan of kind of dark mode, and this application doesn't really have dark mode, but a little trick away around it. So I'm here and I have the frame selected right now, and if I dis elect the frame, I just quick outside and just clicking on the campus. Nothing selected noticed the right side. It says background. He five e five or 5 35 55 and I can just click that and click any color I want in the background changes to my color of preference and typically like to changes color to the darker color, which kind of emulates dark mode. And this right side is kind of dynamic. So whatever you choose, let's say choose this box and you could see that the box is selected. I can have various information for the box kind of the location where it's located. I can add effects that cannot strokes. Let's say I want to have a stroke on the box. You notice I'm adding a stroke or I can add a drop shadow and affect that in whichever way one. But it's kind of contextual kind of dynamic, depending on the item that I choose, this side changes quick little tip in something else. I like doing. I have this frame selected and I'm coming here on the corner radius, and I like changing this to like something around, like a 40 something like that, in a kind of emulates what a mobile device might look like, And if you want to export something I Let's say these are icons or images or you want expect the whole file. You just basically choose the item that you want to export out and you just go here toe export, and you could just export out which ever format you one. 5. Wireframe: Now I'm going to quickly show you how I handle the wire framing process. So I brought the sketch in just a few minutes ago and you literally can just drag pictures in or anything else in writing to figure you literally just drag it in from your desktop or from wherever it's located. And in this APP, demonstration is pretty much going to be a contact app, pretty much an advanced version of a contact app. So I'm gonna start off by hitting a which will get me my my frames open over here. I'm gonna hit my phone 11 pro, which creates this frame going to go in here and change that tow wire frame because that's what we're about to make. Then in my wire frames are usually like to work with this blue color. So I'm coming here in the Phil and I'm changing changing the hex to decimal color to that color. You can go in here and choose any color you want, but in typically when I do water frames, I like them to be blue because then it has that blueprint feel. And I'm using the sketches a reference I'm hitting Oh, on my keyboard, which is a shortcut for their lips tool. And there I just made in the lips. I can click, makes 100 by 100 or I can just drag like this and just make whatever size I want. So I'm gonna make 70 by 70 and then I'm gonna hit Shift X, which which inverts the foreground in the background. And then I'm not going in there and I'm changing it to pure white that I'm hitting tea on my keyboard to create, to choose the text and I'm hitting. And I'm just typing in name because that's going to be people's names on top here. I'm changing the color. I'm coming over here and the color on the field and choosing white to have that white color . I'm having both selected by by holding shift and choosing name and choosing that so you could see her on the on the left side and the layers are both being selected. I could also choose them by holding it here and holding shift. And now they're both selected that I'm holding commanding hitting G. So it makes a group if I hold option at the same time. While clicking on the item. It duplicates the item, and I can just have a quick duplicate of it. And if I'm holding shift an option at the same time, I'm moving and you can you could see here that I'm moving at a certain amount of pixels. So I'm gonna put it 10 pixels away and I'm letting go. Now I'm hitting command D, which duplicates my last action, which is really, really useful. So I can I can make a bunch of these circles really, really quickly by doing it that way. Now I'm getting on my keyboard to just make a very, very fast line and by default is black. And I'm just gonna change that toe white here on the side. Now we have this. White were coming along pretty good. Now I'm going to take on president t again. It just type in contract, and I'm just coming here in the font and I'm just making the far bigger and I'm making it white. So that would be there. Actually change that to contact because it will be plural holding option. I'm duplicating it, and I'm going to just make it smaller, maybe like 12 and I'm gonna put filters here. Filters. They'll be the filters icon non hitting our on my keyboard. And I'm just making this box very fast. I'm hitting Shift X to invert it. That's gonna be a short cut for people to be able to scroll through the contact. Very fast down holding option is just dragging that group that we made earlier actually gonna delete this name. And I'm gonna take the contact and duplicate that and then make another one right below it . And I'm just gonna call. I'm just going to say first name on the bottom. Ah, no schools. Hey, last name what I'm doing. You just copy pasting, and I'm gonna make it a little smaller. Some coming already and changing on 22 like a 12. Something like that. And these don't have to be perfect. There's no alignment or nothing like that necessary. This is literally just very, very fast. Because this is just the wire frame. As I have all three items selected, I'm hitting command. Geez, Another group. Now I'm just holding option and duplicating that group that we just made a non hitting command d to duplicate the action. We just did. We're almost done with this wire frame. Now I'm gonna take the filter and just copy that as well. And I'm gonna change that to add right, cause we're gonna have add I'm hitting all on my keyboard to make a little circle very fast and hitting command X to just invert that circle. And that's just going to be a quick ad icon is just going to stay there floated. And very quickly, this is high. Create wire frames. In the next video, I'll show you how I turn this wire frame into a high fidelity design. See you there. 6. Design (High-fidelity): In the last video, we created this wire frame from the sketch. And in this video, I'm going to show how to create a high fidelity design. Son, you're gonna hit a and create another iPhone pro screened by the way Instead of doing that , we could also just holding option could just copy this thing. Copy our friends. We that's another. That's another thing we can do. But I'm just going to create this frame for now. And what I'm going to do is select my wire frame frame and my regular frame that I just made this new one and I'm gonna hear Go hear the corner radius and I'm gonna hit 40 there. So that makes these nice corner that I like working like that. Kind of gonna move this a little bit that way. And I'm going to call the screen design I'm gonna hit are on my keyboard and I'm just creating this box and putting it in the side and notice how it snapped to the edges when I put it all the way to the edges at 3 75 And this box needs to be 3 75 by 2 25 which I could just enter in here as well. So I'm gonna enter to 25 if I hit this box and if I double click on it, I can actually come to the side here and I can click these corners and I could really, like, break this box around and do whatever I want. So knowing that I'm holding shift in, just moving the box up to notice how it's changing to about 1 83 right there. So I'm just doing that. I'm just gonna change the name of this item at the top by default. It's called Rectangle, too, and I'm just gonna call it Ah, quick contact BG for background. I want to know, make this item into a Grady. And so, by default, we see here that it's there's a field color and if I choose that feeling, if I go under solid and go linear, I can create a Grady int, and basically I can have. I can choose the top color here, and she was another color at the bottom. Changing drink transparency to 100% and you could see here there's a nice our fade and you could move the Grady and around depending on which direction you want it to fade. And I kind of wanna have it from all the way from the side, from the left side to the right side, all the way to the edge. This is my left side, and this is my right side. And the left side is gonna have this denies blue color, which is something like that, and the right side is gonna have this kind of more purplish bluish color. Now I want to change the background of the screen from white to this other blue color. And you could basically click this and just really, you know, choose and you could you want, But I'm going with that color. So I'm just gonna open up on Splash real fast. I want to find a person to show how to make profiles very quickly so I could take this picture, for example. I could do copy, and I could just paste it right in. So now we have this picture in there, and it's in this frame automatically. That's hope, not talk to me, just kind of work in fig MMA. So I'm just like adjusting this, and it's automatically keeping everything in this nice frame. So I'm gonna go in here. We remember that these were 70 by 70. I'm gonna go in here, but it's happening by 70. So I know it's gonna be something like that around this area. And I can change the porter corner radius to, like, 100 times, Gonna take this tax and come in here and just paste It's. And now we have this text with name. I was going to change the font here. By the way, Figment comes with a bunch of pre loaded Google fonts, which is amazing. And it also loads a lot of your system funds. And there's more. There's other ways to load more funds, but just for you to know that there's a lot of funds but stepping away from the fonts for now, let's say we want to make this into a dynamic way to have a lot of different profiles, which is really, really cool. I could change this to the name profile image. Let's create this into a component. I'm just choosing the item that I'm coming up here and clicking this create component button. Now you could see that this is a component and you can see on the side that it has a different icon. I'm duplicating the component of making a few more instances of the components because these three are instances of this component. What I could do it. I can come to this component and I can whatever I changed to that component, like out of some kind of effect, or make it transparent, which you can come here and make it make the item, Let's say, 50% transparent. I'm just changing in making a 50% transparent, and all three items are also becoming 50% transparent, and they also have that effect as well on them. But if I go to each item individually and I I want to change that to, let's say, 100% that one, let's say 5% this one. I can individually touch them, so it might seem a little confusing for now, but I promise you it's a very powerful thing. As we get a little bit further, you'll see how really cool it is. So I'm just hitting undo command Z to go back in time a little bit, so I just don't get that and now this item is still a component. And what I'm gonna do is just go a little bit in the future and bring in a few more profile images. So I went ahead a little bit to save you some time and imported in a few more images and created and converted each of them into a component profile image. 123 and so on. Because now we've created these into components. I could come here next to the layers is a little icon that says Assets. I can click on that and you could see here that we have our components on the side. I could come here and just drag of these components out. And like we said earlier, if I come into the master, these air, just all instances of the complaint that come to the master and I change like I'm hitting to right now to change a transparent so you could see they all changed. So when you have a little really large app with with hundreds of screens, you just literally change one of these components and updates everywhere. Very, very cool. I'm deleting these out of the screen on going back to the layers and also what you want to do for organization. I'm hitting a to create a new our port. And I'm just hitting the are poor like that by default is calling a frame one. And I'm gonna change it from fat who have it say profile images. So now I want to go toe assets. You could see when I hit under profile images. Now it's kind of organizes. So when I have a bunch of more components or organize them nicely for you, things won't be all over the place. So let's take one of these profiles now and put it over here. Take that text that we made earlier. Just put it over here. Another thing we can do is we could actually components within other components. I'm choosing both of these items, and I'm going to component and just hitting create. So now we have item in there that's a component, and one that's just text duplicating this item and bringing it down. Let's just take that away. So that was 80 down and 20 from the left, so you could see I'm holding the option so I can measure that. So I'm just holding option of moving up second. See, it's a from the top and 20 from the left, and I think I have that name a little bit too low. So let's just come back up here and move that a little bit and you could see that we moved . It here is Well, I'm holding option and just duplicating that profile. 10 pixels away, non hitting Command D and just copied more multiple profiles. So now what I could do here is I can actually double click inside of there, and it can come here where it says instance, and I can change from because we created those organized components to come here. The default is profile. Image one. Now I'm clicking profile image to choosing that one again, choosing profile Image three and so on. So forth does an example with the names I get to go in here and put different, different names. If I change this name to let's say, like the fonts to like a black or something like that, you could see their all or like a red. You can see that easier So they all changed to read and these ones all change direct because I'm changing that main component I'm gonna do right now and just delete these out of here. So now you understand how this works. And I'm just gonna come in here and change all these names. Also want have a situation where surnames air selected. Let me show you what I mean by that. I know in the wire frame, I'm just gonna duplicate the circle and make it smaller. I'm going to zoom in on a little bit and shoes the circle, and I'm actually going to come over here on the Phil, choose it. And if I hit this eye dropper, I can actually I drop this color. I'm selecting this color and whatever color I choose, it puts it in that circle. So now I'm hitting their social. Something called a pencil. Ivan showed you that yet? So it's come here, the pentacle, and pretty much I want to just make a really quick check. I'm just clicking, clicking and clicking. And I made a quick little check. This is just very, very fast just to show you what I mean. So this is this is just a situation where something is selected and forgot to do that in the wire framing process, but I wanted you to see how to do that. Now we want to make a high Fidelity version version of that. So let's try to come over here and I just copy that little circle and I'm pasting it. It's actually 28 by 28 Dimension wise. I'm going to come over here and change it to 23 by 23. Very nice that I'm going to come here on the side and hit this little minus key to delete the stroke completely. And I'm gonna choose this item again, and I'm going to just choose white just pure white. I'm gonna put it on top here in the component and notice here how he puts it on all the other ones as well. Let's actually put that down here. You could see as it's happening in real time. I'm going to zoom in on a little bit and choose a little circle, and I'm just gonna add a little shadow. So here I'm gonna goto effect, and it just puts a little shadow. I could come here in the shadow and kind of adjusted to have a little more subtle. It's a 25% by default. I'm just changing it to 10% that I'm going back for that little check that we made here. And I'm coming back over here and putting it and just pasting it. And just when it pays to to put it in that place, you can't really see it. And I'm gonna just I'm gonna change this check from, like, a white toe like a darker color so we could see it, and I'm gonna put it just down a little bit. So it's kind of more line. I'm going to zoom in a tiny bit more. I normally create my icons in a program called Illustrator. But although figures very, very good tool to make icons in as well, very powerful is gonna make a couple little adjustments here, move that down. Are you coming? The stroke actually changed the stroke weight from a one to a to makes a little bit fatter , and I could just make a couple more adjustments and I don't want the corners to be sold sharp. So I come in here and hit this little side and then where it says none. Under this menu, I hit two round and notice how I made it round. Not nice and clean. Kind of works with his design better. And I'm just coming out and you could see there they all have selected. So by default, I'm gonna come here and shoes that little arrow, I'm going to zoom back and again, I'm gonna come and select both these items and I'm gonna while they're both selected, I'm hitting command G. So I'm having them grouped. And I'm just changing this name to check. I'm choosing the check again, and I'm coming over here where the check is and I'm hitting this eyeball, which turns it off and on. So I'm turning it off by default. So that way they're all off by default. I'm moving that component back over here. Even though I turned it off in the main component. See, they're all these air turned off. You could see here, here, here, they're all turned out by default. But let's say I want to turn this one on, like the way that we have it in our example in our wire frame, some coming here choosing this one. And I'm just turning just that one on. So it's a dynamic way to control this stuff is really, really powerful. Before I forget, let me show you this other trick. I'm holding shift in, just selecting these our profile image items, and I'm just grouping them. Now I have this group and I just called him. Just gonna call this group too quick contacts because they're all equal space to the program is smart enough to detect that. I can actually move them around equally in space. I like them being away 10 pixels from each other. But I just wanted to show the school keep in mind the reason that we went ahead and created these onto components also, it's so we can do this quick little tricks. Without them being components, we wouldn't be able to accomplish some of the stuff. So I'm just gonna add a quick little contact here. So now we're gonna have the work contacts, which will be 20 pixels from the top and 20 pixels from the left. Right now it's 42. I'm holding option and I'm moving my arrow keys. So I'm seeing all these alignments, which is really helpful for me and pretty much the same way that we just made that check. Mark, I created this filter icon as well, just to save you some time. And I'm gonna have that 25 from the top, which that's what it is. And it's going to be 85 from the side. I'm gonna group these together and press command G that I'm gonna call the top of contacts . Now, I'm gonna come back to the top here where we were earlier. Let's take one of these profiles and actually move it down next to our reference. So we have a first name at the top here. Just put it right here. First name at the top, last name at the bottom. So would be something around there. Will put the first name at the top here. Will copy that duplicate that will put last name. I want to make this fun really, really big, actually. So I'm gonna change that to 50 and make it a little heavier Change. That's a medium perfect. Let's actually take the name off and just keep just the word first. Move that up a little bit. Really good to measure everything out, and I'm gonna actually choose this and I'm gonna hit five from my keyboard. So change the capacity to 50% and change the fonts to about 20. Put a little bit lower, and I both will be selected and hit command Geo group. Um, there about seven pixels away. We could do about five that those numbers are not exactly accurate because these live in boxes which add extra pixels. But it is good to have things nicely aligned in general. Now, I'm gonna choose our instance of that component that we made earlier and choose this group as well, and I'm gonna make another component at that. So now we have a regular contacts components. So let's actually take that at a year so we can have all our components in one place and we can have our instances of those cumbersome is going to leave that over here and from components seven. I'm gonna call it profile lists just to keep things organized. I'm gonna take our profile list instance of that component and put it over here. 20 pixels from the side and 20 and it should be 20 pictures from the top. Very nice. I'm gonna take that instance and put it about 20 pixels from the top. And I'm gonna hit command d like we did earlier to duplicate our action. And I showed you earlier how we can come here and you can go to profile. We can change this on a side and just change it to other images if you want. There's actually another way to do this a little more visual way. Let me just show you that really quick right now so I can come here on the asset side. And if I want this image to replace that image, I can choose the image. Bring it out. I could either just lead it wherever I want to leave it. When I could choose the image and I could hold option and command and notice how that box is turning purple and literally just replaces that image. So it's literally that replacement. I'm gonna go ahead and do that to the rest of the images really quickly. So the same way can just come over here and change the names like we did earlier. Gonna put Bob Smith. I'm just gonna go ahead and change all the other names very quickly. So I went ahead and added all the other names, first name and last name. And I also creator R ab buttons similar to how we did the check mark just to save a little time. And that should be 20 pixels from the right and 20 pixels from the bottom. This Grady, um, by the way, is the exact same great. And is that one? So they're both just the exact ingredient, a quick way to duplicate a Grady. And I can show you an example. So I'm just creating this box so I can go into this great in right click on it, go to copy paste, and just do copy properties that I could come here and just do paste properties and a copy of the green. And that's how I kind of made that ingredient checking over here. That last part is this little bar left. This is just a quick shortcut for people to be able to scroll through very quickly. So I'm going to create a box very fast, which is going to be 28 in width and 494 and height. I'm gonna add a corner radius. Let's just say 100 and it's about five pixels from the side. So I'm just putting that look. I'm just holding option and showing me seven pixels here and then I'm moving in, and now we know it's five pixels and it should be 215 from the tops on holding option and pressing up and down to adjust that and move it and could see that it's changing the numbers and I'm keeping it a to 15 from the top. Then again, I'm copying that Grady int. I'm choosing the item right clicking it, going and tasting the radiant and notice when I pasted the Great and also messed up my corner radius and I could just go in there and change it again. But instead of doing that, let me just show you another way, a better way to potentially do that. So instead of choosing properties and just selecting all of them, you could just choose individual one so I could come here on the side, notice my arrows here on the side, and I'm just kind of clicking it here. And I'm just pressing command. See, coming over here and heading Command V. And that's just a way to not copy all the properties just to copy individual properties. And this bar is appear appearing too dominant for my tastes on just choosing it and putting it down to 10%. I could also just do that by hitting one. And now looking at it on second thought, I really don't want to have that great aunt there at the bar. I just want to kind of show you how to do it. And so I'm just gonna select it, and I'm going to go to the filled and delete it, delete it and then hit. Plus, So I deleted the feeling that we just have this great color and I want to do this blue color instead. And I'm also gonna hit tends to just have that a 10%. I want to add some letters here, so I'm just coming here and choosing that name and copying in them, coming over here, hitting this thing, and then I'm just hitting paste. So now we have this text and I'm just getting a hitting the turn hitting be didn't return hitting, See, return hitting D and I'm going to skip forward a little bit and just add the rest of them. Now we have the rest of the letters kind of putting that over here. So I'm making a crooked on purpose again because I want to show you that warmer times. So I'm choosing both layers, this layer and this layer, and then I'm gonna actually zoom out. You could see a little bit better. I'm gonna come here and eyeliner from left to right, and I line up from top to bottom. And if you like this font a little heavy, actually. So let's maybe change that to a lighter version. I think that's a little stronger. This one is Wells a little heavy, so I'm gonna come back. Overall file image also toe a little bit of a lighter version of that same fund. I felt like that one was a little bit too heavy. Very nice. Let's move down here and everything looks good, but I'm happy with it. I'm happy with the way that turned out before these videos over. I also just wanted to mention that you noticed House undoing a lot of steps and kind of going back in history and by hitting Command Z and pretty much I just wanted to mention that this application everything's kind of saved in the cloud, so you can really undo forever. Pretty much, I think, um, I believe the free account you couldn't do for 30 days and you can still come back. So all your history and everything gets saved, which is so powerful. And I think the paid version. I think you could literally go in history back forever. But just something, something to take note. In the next video, I'll show you how to make a realistic prototype where things are actually moving and animating. 7. Prototyping: In our last video, I showed you how to create this high fidelity design, using this wire frame as a reference. And in this video, I'm going to show you how to create a pretty interesting prototype very quickly And when when I say prototype, what I mean by that is kind of go. It's kind of showing, Ah, little animation of house things would look going from one screen to the other. You can always have different screens that you're showing to your clients or some decision makers or developers in general. But you want to show also what, how things would look, how things would look when they're going from screen to screen and how things might feel when you're animating. And this is a good example to show how to accomplish that. So I went ahead and created this profile screen here just to jump ahead a little bit, and what I'm going to do now is here on the left side, you have design, prototype and code. I'm going to click on Prototype, and when we click on prototype, we actually get to some new selections here on the right side. And if I click on this little section. If I click on this section, I get this little this little dot and I could just choose it and I can go to different screens. So that means when I click on this section, it will take me to this next screen, and I could show you a quick example that what that would look like so I could come here where it's a prototype is there's a little play button I could hit play and it opens up a new screen, and my my screen generates the reason a loaded in that iPhone. If I click outside, I'm just not clicking on the board. I'm cooking outside on the canvas and one quick outside I could see here. There's different information on it says here Device, this is iPhone 11 pro, and you could have models. You can have different ones, have the gold chosen. So when I hit play, I get this device, which is really, really nice. So remembering that we created that action, let's go from one screen to the other. So if I click anywhere outside if I click here, you could see here that this has a link that we created earlier. If I click this link that takes us to that to that screen, which allows us to quickly jump from screen to screen in a prototyping environment. Now, if I come to this back button and I click here and just move this arrow over here now we're gonna have an action to go back. So now you could come over here, I could click the back, and now it's taking him back to the previous screens. Now we're going. We're going from screen to screen going back that I'm choosing this, I can go back and forth. So if you have a lot of different screens, you can show your whole flow something that's pretty cool that exists. Within figment is something called auto enemy. So when you load from screen to screen, you can actually have things kind of auto animated. Let me show an example what I mean by that cause it makes your prototype look way better and hyper realistic. I'm going to come down here and click this arrow. I'm gonna come here on the side and you could see here there's something by default. It's usually going to say instant and I'm gonna come here and change that from instant to smart animate. I'm gonna come back to this screen And then when we had the arrow here, I'm going to change that from instant to smart, animate as well. And I'm gonna. And with the auto animated enabled, let me show you an example of how you can do some really quite Imation's very quickly. So I just copied and pasted this ad button that we created earlier. And you could see here that the title of it is called Ad On and on this side. It's also called at So as long as the layers air named the exact same layer, the system's going to know how to animate and let me show you how that works. I'm gonna come over here and press plague and and when I hit back, you could see that this play buns. It's auto animating to this to the placement of where it's located on that screen. So I'm going back and forth within the screens, and you could see how it's auto animating. So in a real life example, let me just delete this screen from there. In a real life example, I could take something like this screen and put it on this screen down a little bit and maybe move it out of the frame and then taking this play button, maybe I'm gonna put it behind in the layer higher key. I'll put this behind those frames. Something like that. I'm gonna move it to the side. So it's on the right side and you could see here that I'm gonna come over here and just play this thing to show you what's happening. And you can quickly see how these animations are affecting our screens. As we're jumping back and forth on a prototype, you could see that the admin is coming in left and right, and this bar at the bottom is coming up and down. So I'm gonna go back to our design, and I'm gonna choose these sections in a group them I'm gonna bring them out of this screen . I'm gonna move this up out of our frame and I'm gonna come back over here and play. I'm hitting our link and it's coming down and things are just kind of on auto animating. And with this link on the top, that's a share prototype I can click on that, and I could come over here and say, Copy Link and I could literally send this link to anybody, whether it's a developer or decision maker or somebody on your team that you need to. You need them to check this design out to give you some feedback. You can send them this link, and they could just open that directly in the browser. And based on what they think, they could come over here on the side and there's a bun here on the top left. Add comments. They could hit that, and you can actually come over. Come in your prototype and just start acting. Adding comments. They could say something. I like this post, and then when you come to your design, you can hide the comments and you can reveal the comments and you're able to actually see them. And when you get all the comments from different people, you could come here back to your board, and when you click on comments you could see here on the side, you'll get all your comments here, and then you can just go through them and kind of reply back to the comments and make some changes as necessary. In this video, I showed you how to create Ah, prototype and jumping from screen to screen. And I also showed you how to share your document and how toe potentially leave comments and how to have people leave comments for you and for you to kind of see where those comments are. In the next video, I'll show you how to have kind of prepare a mini design system. 8. Design System: in the last video, I showed you how to create Ah, prototype and kind of how to share your prototype with other people and how people can leave your comments. And I can kind of look at those comments. And in this video, I'm going to show you how to kind of start your design system. A design system could get potentially really large, but I'm just gonna show you kind of the beginning steps of starting to create one. So I went ahead and took some of the elements that we had from our screen and created a couple of these elements in this one frame. And basically, let's start up with the colors in our design system. That's a good thing to start off with. So notice here in the background here on the side, We don't really have anything yet, So if I come over here and just choose this color here, this circle, I could come here on the side and notice where words to feel. There's a little icon with the four dot that's a style. I can hit that style and then I can come here and hit Plus and what that does it allows me to kind of name this color for in my style. So I'm calling a primary this color a year, I'm saying creates style. So now we created the style noticed that was in there, and now it's there. And if I come out of this and I just hit on on top of the cannabis, remember, we used to have this blink. There used to be nothing there. And now we have local styles and it has here it says primary. So now when we have, when we create some elements, I could come here and actually select the various elements and come here on the side and choose that and then shoes this color. And now we've affected based on the color that we selected there earlier, and then I could always edit this primary color to another color so I could come here and hit this icon. Come over here and I can change that to another color. And look notice how it's affecting everywhere where that style has been applied, which could be extremely, extremely powerful. When you have so many screens, something on, do that and go back to our original color. I'm gonna delete these screens that we made earlier. I'm gonna come back over here and continue with our design system. I'm selecting the circle again. I'm coming here to where the Phil and I'm clicking those icons and I'm clicking on plus long that selected. That's the white colors. I'm just calling that white creates style. Now, we just created that stuff. So now we have to I'm coming out over here and look, we have primary, and then we have white. Let me just do this One more in front of you. I'm gonna choose disk radiant the specific radiant that we have coming over here and hitting this icon with the four dots again and that I'm coming to this plus then hitting the plus, tapping that and then giving misting a title, calling ingredient and creating that style that I'm coming back over here hitting canvas and you could see here. Now we have ah, Grady in style. I'm gonna show you how to apply the style to our some of our existing elements from holding shift. And I'm choosing this element that we have a great and then I'm choosing this element and I'm choosing this element by holding shift, they can select multiple elements. Let me apply that radiant that we just created to those three items. So I just choose the A little icon there and I'm just choosing this radiant now. You didn't see any difference because we already had that grading. But now that it's applied as a style, I could come here from the canvas and you could see here that where it's great and when I'm choosing canvas and I can hit this little icon and I can choose properties and that I can change this around and notice how it's affecting here, here and here at the same time, it's affecting all of them so you could see that those have been applied, they're and how powerful that could be. Let me show you a few examples of how you could do the same idea with typography as well. So let's come over here. And she was the first name, and when I go to text, I can click this icon here to create a new style and I'm hitting. Plus, and I could just call this maybe like something like H one. Since it's such a big copy, usually you want to call the sting something descriptive, but for demonstration purposes, I'm just showing it to you that way to them hitting create style. And now we have an H one. So now when you go here and you look at your style here on the side, you could see that there is an H one. Then I could come here and apply that to our component that we made earlier. By applying it to this component, it will affect all the instances of that components. You don't have to go to each thing. So I'm going to click this typography words as first I'm going to come over here and I'm gonna add and all I do is just hit the H one and now it's been applied. So you could see now when I hit Bob, you could see that each one has been applied. But to do the same thing to the last name even changed up to 50% the way that we had that set up. And I'm going to come here to text and hit that little icon and hit a plus right next to it and just call this H two for now notice. The H one is capital in H two is in capital. I mean, I can change that. Just come over here, it that little edit. And I could come here at the top and change that to a capital H as well. You could always change these names as necessary. So now I'm going to come here to our component to our last name. Gonna choose that. And then I'm going to come here and choose a little icon. I'm gonna choose H two now. You could see that when we come to our file. When I hit the last name, now we have a h to hear. Fly to it. Or if I hit the last name here, you could see the H two has been applied to it. So that was just a quick demonstration of how you can get started in creating your design system and how powerful that is. In the next video, I'm going to show you how plug ins work at how you can install them. 9. Plugins?: in the last video, I showed you how to start on your design system over a year. And in this video I'm going to show you how to install plug ins and what plug ins even are . So plug ins are pretty much many software's many APS within Big My itself, and you can get to it just by coming here and right clicking and going on plug ins and notices says here, manage plug ins. We haven't installed any plug ins from the magician. Quickly show you how to do that. So I'm coming here to the top left side. I'm clicking the hamburger icon and I'm hitting back to files you could see here. Our first fall has been updated based on all the work we've done, and over here is she the word plug ins? So I'm clicking on that link plug ins, and there's different plug ins you can choose, and I'm gonna specifically show you one, and by hitting his brows, all plug ins, it takes you to the section where all the plug ins exists, and there's a search here on the top, right, and you can kind of type in whatever you're looking for some, specifically looking for one that I want to show you called Splash The image that we used earlier with the profile of a few videos ago. I want to show you how we can get to that directly from the app. So I'm gonna click this plug in and there's a little install call to action button that I could click on. I'm gonna click on that and I'm gonna install the plug in. Now that we have the plug in installed, I'm gonna go back to our filed by going here to First Project, and I'm gonna click on our file and go back in it and zoom inside of it. And here I can, right click how we did earlier and goto plug ins and notice. Now we have unspool ash. So I'm clicking on the UN splash selection And now we're getting the in splash selection here. Right within Fig MMA. Remember earlier when I went into the browser a few videos back and I typed in person, I could come here and type in person again, and I'm getting images right within. I think my itself notice here based on the key word that we put in, we're getting different people so I can put in. That's a house. Now we're getting houses or anything else do you come up with? So I'm gonna go back and hit been person again, and I can just click on the picture that I selected and just import to write into Fig MMA and I could do on my adjustments the same way as if I would have gone to, ah Web browser to get that picture and then to close the plug. And I just, you know, can hit the little X and it closes it out. Plug ins are really cool and powerful, and I suggest checking different ones, and you can really, really improve your workflow by using them. 10. Final Thoughts: I hope you got some good knowledge out of taking this course. We learn some basic tools and Sigma, and from that we learned how to a wire frame. And then, from the wire framing, we learned how to do Ah, high fidelity design. And with that high fidelity design, we learn how to do micro interactions and doing some real life prototyping. Now it's time for me to assign some homework for you. And when I was a kid, I used to really, really hate homework. But this is just part of the process. It's important to do this stuff so we could really practice and get good at our craft. So, really, can you just take the design that I've done? Kind of use that as a reference? And also make sure to create a wire frame I did, and also create a design from that wire frame and then experiment with a few with some of the prototyping and team. If you can get to animate based on how I showed you some directions earlier, please don't forget to share your progress with me as I hope you do a good job and good luck to you else. You later
