1. Introduction: Do you have a T-shirt shop on Etsy or merch by Amazon or maybe you want to learn how to design T-shirts for fun or for personal use? Well, this course is perfect for you. In this class, I'll be showing you how to design your very own t-shirt using procreate. All you need is a tablet such as an iPad, a stylus pen, and the procreate app. I'll be showing you how to draw anything using a photo as a reference. And I will also teach you how to add textures to your artwork to make it unique. 2. How To Draw A Skull Tshirt In Procreate: So first of all, a set up a canvas size of 14 by 18 inches at 300 DPI. Sometimes T-shirt printing services will have different artwork dimensions, so make sure to check out on that. So the first thing I'm gonna do in this lesson is create the school design. And to do that, I'm going to find a reference photo of a school. You can go to Pexels.com, unsplash.com, or simply Google searches school and save it to your iPad or tablet to add a photo procreate, we're going to hit the wrench, tap, Add, then tap, Insert a photo. So now that photos in the artwork and you can expand it and make it larger with your finger or Apple Pencil by pulling on the corners. And now what I wanna do is go to the Layers panel, tap on the letter N and bring that opacity down a bit. So now what we're gonna do is go to the Layers panel, tap the plus sign to create a new layer. And we're going to go to the Brush Library and draw over the school. So we're gonna go to the ink and then tap tinderbox. That's a really nice inking, are really nice brush to draw over or this draw in general on so on the left-hand side, you can simply adjust the brush size and the opacity. So I'm going to have the brush size pretty high in. Now. I'm simply just tracing or drawing over this school. Obviously, a lot of people will not agree with us and say that's just copying. Well, after I'm done drawing over this, I'll make it my own in, add some different effects and stuff to it. This is also perfect for beginners in Procreate. Or if you have really shaky hands like me when you're drawing on your tablet or iPad, it's sometimes a lot harder to draw on an iPad then on a piece of paper. So this is a great technique. Another thing to know when using your Apple Pencil and using any brush in general in Procreate, you can adjust the pressure and the thickness of your lines by just adjusting how you hold and press down with your Apple pencil. Obviously, if you press down hard enough that the lines are going to be a little thicker and if you hold it or tilted a certain way it could get the lines can get thicker or thinner. This depending on how you use it. Another thing to note is if you mess up and say you're drawing over something and you don't like how that nose looks or the eyes. You can always just tap on the iPad with two fingers and it should undo what you just created. So right now I'm just adding some extra lines and eventually I'll add some cracks to the school in some other lines and crevices to make it a little different than the original school. So now what we're gonna do is go back to the layers panel slide right on that layer 2 or the school layer to duplicate it and tap Duplicate. And then on that layer we are going to go to the color wheel and change it to white. And then if we go to that circle white and drag it into the school, they should fill up a plate. So I'm simply just going to fill everything in with white at this point. So now I'm going to go back to the Layers panel and tap on that 1 first layer, which was the photo. And then I'm going to hit the checkbox in it should uncheck. So now you can't see that layer. Now I'm going to go back into that top layer and grab my tinderbox brush again. And I'm simply going to add some details such as some cracks in some more lines and stuff to make the school pop out and look a little different than the reference photo I used. Now we're, the eyes are, I'm going to simply draw out some drips, so cool to have some like red drips in that area, kind of fill it out and make it different. Now I'm going to go over to the color wheel and choose a darker red. And then I'm going to drag that color into the drips. So I think that's pretty cool, but we're missing a little something and that's texture. So let's go on to the next lesson where I'll show you how to add some really cool texture to this design. 3. Adding Texture To Your Tshirt Design In Procreate: Textures really bring your designs to life when creating a t-shirt. So to add some texture and procreate, we're going to go over to the Layers panel, tap the plus sign to create a new layer, and tap on the brush library. Now we're going to look through the different textures that procreate has included. So you can always go to spray paints and check those out. And then you can always tap on textures or just play around with the different textures they have provided. So the texture I'm going to use is tar kind. I have no idea what that means, but it's a really cool texture, almost has like a fabric look to it. So I'm going to click on that and then I'm going to bring my brush size up all the way and start brushing all over the school. There are different ways to add texture, but this is the way I like doing it. Now I'm going to go back to that texture layer and tap it and then tap Clipping Mask. Now look like the color the texture is in that school and it looks really cool. So if you want, you can use this texture or you can go back to the Brush Library and play around with the different textures they have. And I'm going to go ahead and go to spray paints and tap on the flicks. And I want to see what that would look like with that. But honestly, there's definitely a lot of ways to add texture. And you can also just color or brush it in. You don't have to use the clipping mask. I thought this would be easier. So anyways, I'm going to go back to the Layers panel, and I'm going to go ahead and click on the background color and change that background color to black. So I'd probably want the school on a black t-shirt. So this is what it would probably look like. Looks like on a black t-shirt. 4. Exporting Your Design And Class Project: Export your t-shirt designs and Procreate, tap on the wrench, then tap Share. You can export it as a Photoshop file, a PDF, or even a PNG. And then simply after that's done, you can go ahead and share it to your computer or wherever you want to share it to. And then upload it to your website unless you're printing it out at home, you want to participate in the course project, please create a t-shirt design using Procreate. Use the methods and techniques that I showed you such as adding texture using different brushes and so on. You can make a design similar to mine or make it totally different. But obviously to your school design doesn't have to be as creepy as mine if you want to add a beanie to him or a Santa Claus hat and make it fun, you can do that. But anyways, thank you so much for watching my course. If you liked this, be sure to check out my others on my profile and I will see you next time.
