1. Intro: Yes. Hi there and welcome to my new procreate class. My name is Brenda bunker and I'm from the Netherlands. In this class, I will be teaching you how to create hand-drawn 3D paper, cut him procreate. I'm going to teach you these three examples. We're starting out with the cactus and we're going to make a digital cutouts of your drawing. And the second one is this one. And here we have a two piece cut out on an Android behind. And for the last one will be creating this Valentine card, which is a little bit more difficult because it's like a puzzle. And we are going to combine different styles and using some lettering. And just combine these outline shaped within the frame. So it looks like it's just one piece of the frame. And as a bonus of this class, I will be teaching you how to create stickers with a watercolour paper texture on it about a, with a clear background so you can save them as a PNG. So I, I hope you will be liking this class and let's get started.
2. Importing Brushset and Watercolorpaper Canvas : So the first thing we wanna do is getting the procreate brush set and the procreate watercolor canvas. For that, we have to go through your browser. Don't open the skill share app, but go through your browser, go to your class, go to the project and Resources section. And here you will find the watercolor canvas and dueling brush set for importing it. You have to lick it. You want to download it? Yes, I want to download it near you can see the little arrow here is going to download. And for that part, and you will click on it. And it will import right away to procreate. And you will find it's the first thing in your left upper corner of your gallery. Now we're going to import the brushes for debt. We also going throw your browser. We go into the sketchy dueling brush heads. If you already done that clause, you, it's the same set so you don't have to download it again. And also the same goes for the canvas. Download it, click on it, download it, and it will import. Now, click on it right away. And you will find it here with your downloads sketchy dueling brush yet click on it again. It will import and you will find it with your rachet. Just open any Canvas and on the top of your brush library, you will find the new set. So this is just a small brush it I will be using in this class, but you can make your drawings on any confess you like, and any use, any brushes you like. So it's just something to start out with f and see you in class.
3. Creating the basic cactus : So first of all, I'm going to start out with making a sketch of a cactus in a pot. I want this to be my photos. So it's just a sketch. She don't have to be precise about it. So sketch it here to make it a wobbly kind of cactus, Gaza like that. I don't want him to be precise. Something like here and something on top. And I want to have something here also. And perhaps a little flower. Well, this looks cheerful, Right? So I think my sketches really lets go and draw it for real. So I make this one less visible. Create new layer on top of that, and go to my dry ink brush. Have it in black. And if you already seen my sketchy doodling clause, you know, my way of drawing. And I want my light to come from up here, my shadows from up here. So my darker and my thicker and darker lines in areas will be on the left and on the downside of every stroke I make. So I millennium layer and I'll go into draw about over it. So a thicker line here, line here, a thinner line with less pressure. And a thinner line on this size. Also going to draw here sick, sick sinner. And from this also starting sick going to sin, maybe a little thicker here and a down area because debt will be catching more shed and also a startup thick, thick, thick, lifted the bits marathoner and make it thinner, thick and again. And it looks nice when it's not smooth shape because it's hand-drawn. So if you have hesitations, please let it be. Get readership perfection here. And here are also going to start out with a sick lines thinner, maybe hear a little thicker afterwards, but we'll check on how it works. So sick, thin, thin, thins sick again. And thick, thick, thick centers in SEMS thick. And also with here, I'm going to start sinner. And here more pressure. And this is a simple but thick, thin, sick in thick, thin, thick, thin and thick and thin. I think my drawing is okay like this. So let's get rid of the original sketch. Deleted. I don't need it anymore. And let's go give it some color. And four did, I'm going to choose green, I think a middle green. And I'm going to choose my watercolor scribbled brush and ongoing on a layer underneath this one. Because I want to keep my lines in touch. And I'm going to draw the greening of the characters. And you see when I have more pressure, it gets darker and when I lift my pencil a bit, it's less dark. So make a variety of colors. It's no worries if you go outside the lines because we moved it away later, we can erase that part and wanted to make it a little darker here. And now I am going to smash it and I want to smudge it with the same tool. So I go to Mesh much to leave my pencil on the screen. And now it's directly have the same brush. And not only matching it because you will get rid of all the texture. We don't want to, we want to keep the texture so we go into what I'm doing, just tap and depth. And if the color is too dark and going to smudge in some wide again from outside the lines. That's nothing you can do with real watercolors, but I think it was a little bit too dark. And now I can erase this part. What's next to it? And I want to erase with my dry ink brush because I like that a little bit bigger because it's not all the way smalls and it can erase enough. Make sure you leave your pencil every once in a while because it has an open texture so you will not erase everything in one part. I like this Now I'm going to do also the cell little Sita arms of the characters. I can do it on the same layer. It's okay. Perhaps just lower left areas. You will get enough ink. And they focus much it all the way. Give it a funny watercolor relook. It must be a good brand of ink because it can smooth all the way back. Has enough color in it's enough pigments. So I think that's enough. I don't like this part here. It's too rough. Go to smoke too much, it a little bit extra. And then I'm going to choose an orangey look. For this part. I'm going to do that all new layer so I can erase easily small, small sizes. And you see, I left a little bit open here and why it's an orange and I lifted again and put some extra darks in the centerpiece. How everyone too far really lift, lift, lift, but not on n, erase it in. I'm not a perfectionist. Well, I was but I got rid of it. I don't like it's being perfectionist. Besides did looks more fun, right? If it's just the style you look not, you can draw anything you like. It's about what's coming next. This is just an extra bonus. And I want to give it a more Stone really look. I'll one, what color do I want to get my, I think the blue one, I like this blue one here. Create a new layer. It's okay, it's on top of this, as long as it stays underneath the black layer. So I'm going to my scribble brush again, little bit bigger. Also decide is more light and decides more dark. So I start here, lay down some color and go this much it known to erase the parts adult like new again, you can see little bits. Handwork, it's not supposed to be cleans, should be looking like Android. You see this beast is the green that shows through. We can make it into a bleed or we can erase it because we have several separate layers. Perhaps a little bleed will be nice. So I go back to my green. Because in real life, in real watercolor that happens Also it was erasing. So let's go to this much to another bleeds into the blew. It makes it more, look more water color. Blue and green smudge perfectly, so it's going to leave a lovely color out of it.
4. Adding extra’s and highlights to the cactus: So now I have the basic of the drawing ready, but I want to make it more interesting. So I'm going to do another sketchy line on top of it. So I go back to the layer. The top layer is about the thick black lines. I'm going to make another layer on top of that. Go to my fine tip brush checking lines. It's a little bit too thick for this. Go into approximately 10%. So 10%, I do like I am going to make a sketch, speci lines around this. So It's just to make it more vibrant and more special. And on this line, I'm going to dribble around the sick line. So just with a loose grip of the bend, take your pen a little more further away from the point. So keep it like this or like this, but not like how you draw, right? So you can get thinner lines, just wiggling about and around the lines. Just tell you like it. So make sure you do this on a different layer. So if you don't like it, you can redo it easily. And for this one also fun phone lines and perhaps some of these needles. I only do this on the outside because we are going to do something nice to the inside of the mean in a little while. Is these aren't touching. So that's bothering me. So I'm going to select it. No selection, freehand. Take these two and bring them a little bit down. And then you see I made a mistake here, but we can easily solve that by just another trick. Go to liquefy, makes your momentum and distortion is off, and you go to your size and push this a little bit back so we don't see it anymore. It's OK. Just some little tricks you can see within those glasses. So I think it's looks nice like this. We can create a new layer, but I want to now go underneath all the black lines because I want the black lines staying on top. So i'm going all the way to the colored layers and make a layer on top of that. I'm going to make some highlights. Going to choose my dry brush again. Creating some extra lines here. Here, just where the light catches everything here I left a little bit piece and already so thats fine on here. Here. And now decides are way dark and Derek doesn't come any light, direct light, but you can make it fun. Thin lines. So for a rim light and just to get it more interesting, look, make it more playful. At least this is what I like. You can do it like you want because it's your own drawing. So now I'm going to create a new layer on top of that. And I'm going to make some of those fine, nice white dots on top of it just to make it more cheerful tactics. And now they are just only white dots. But have you noticed those dots are mostly lying on top of it so it doesn't blur into the cactus. So we're going to make them lift them up. So I'm going to duplicate the layer. And the layer underneath. I'm going to select, I'm going to tap on black. And I'm going to the layer again, and I'm going to choose Fill layer. And now you can't see it but all the dots are black. And when I go to the arrow tool and just move them a little bit into the shell side. Suddenly they are feasible. And now your dots are coming out of the cactus and choose glow shoe blurs or you go to the, to the magic wand to go, to go humbler, choose Layer. And I'm merge if I zoom into it. And then you see here you have two black dots. And because I've chosen Gaussian blur now, I can stand anywhere in the field and move my pencil rather screen and just look at the black dots, what it does. You're going to be a little bit more vague. And let me zoom out to see if I like it. Yes, I like it still. I like the color. I like how it's fade out and I have to make a choice because I cannot make it this undone. So I like the way it's fade out, but I think there are already a bit too dark. So I'm going to my layer again and make the opacity layer a little bit less feasible. So now it's there, but not wait too much in your face. Now, I think I have completed my cactus drawing. Let's take you to the next chapter where we going to do a paper cut out and create some shadows.
5. Creating the 3D Paper Cut Effect: So now I think this drawing is complete. And let's go to the next part where we can create a paper cut out from it. But because I want to keep my layers intact, I don't want to get rid of the originals when I mess something up. I'm going to my gallery. And I'm going to duplicate this drawing. Going to duplicate itself. The original picture stays intact and going to mess around with this one. So for this one, I'm going to merge all of these layers I have drawn here. So I tap on the top one, easily slide these one to the right to select all those layers and group them. Now during one group and I can replace them, but that's no need for now. So I'm going to flatten this group, tap on group, choose flatten. And now it's just one picture with my whole drawing and that's why I want to keep the original safe for when I mess something up or I want to change a can, do it all over again. And for this one, we're going to do some tricks, and it's a little bit complicated. I will try to do it as slowly as possible, but you can also stop the video and rewind and look again. Sometimes I do make mistakes also and I don't like that, but it happens in the fast way or of drawing. So for this one, I want to create a white outline of it and I want to remove it from the paper. You see like about what we did with this one. How much affected head? So that one we're going to choose, I'm going to selection tool here. I'm going to choose automatic. I'm going to tap on the white and don't be scared because it changes like so. And I want to select all the drawing out of the background. So I selected background, but I need the drawing, so I choose invert. Don't be scared. It's getting a weird look depending on what colors you're drawing have mostly is the opposite part of the, of what you drew. Like we drew blue in the pots and it will keep orange is just, I think they did it because they were complimentary colors, so you can easily see how it looked. So now we select the backgrounds, inverted it, but I want to make it more white. So I'm going to choose feather and I'm going to approximately mostly 10%. But let's see when the drawing has enough white around it lately. So your outline, you have to choose your outline for now. So I think 19% in this case is enough because of the needles that were sticking out. Mostly I end up for tight drawings about 10%. But now we need this. So now I'm going to choose a white color. And I'm going to choose a new layer and don't go on this layer. I chose, choose new layer. I do it on top is nowhere is. And I choose Fill layer. You see it's almost all white. But because it's vetted, it doesn't delete the whole piece. So we must do it again. But then choosing this layer, this layer, I'm going to choose Selection Tool, automatic, tip blue. And now you see it has a whole white outline. So you can easily make your stickers in this way if you want to. We're just going to invert it again. But this time we don't know the feathering part because I have already now a tagline and it's big enough as I want. So we skip the part of feathering and go directly to this layer and fill again. And now you're dropping his gun nowadays, but this one is on top. So we remove it downwards. And now you can't see it, but only you can see that when we change the background color. So now you see that we have a lovely sticker creates out of it. But I want to back white background. So I want to pop the sticker, as I call it now, more to the foreground. So what I'm going to do is create a shadow underneath it. And that's how I do this by duplicating this white stick art layer and fill it with black. The stick, the layer that's all the way down, select and fill layer. And now you see, although it hasn't even got his blurry yet, you now, you can see a little bit shadow underneath it. And we're going to do that even more by Gaussian blur. Choose later because I want all the whole thing. And I just want to get a bit more shadow underneath. And I'm going to remove that. Maybe I should have done it before because my layers of my light is coming from this side. Michelle's are here and I think the blurring is fine, less like this only it's little bit too hard. So I want to make the opacity leaderless. So now this one, I think looks great. It looks like I already have a ket p. So this is the one we're going to use. And if you remove the background and you remove the textures, you will have a great example of how you should export it as a PNG to create some stickers. But now you have no, nothing of your texture left. Remind me, I'm going to show you at the end of this course on how we can get rid of the texture in the background layer, but not on top of your painting. So keep it in mind. Do it as less chapter. From here on. I want to go and create a lovely frame around it. So let's go to the top because the frame has to be on top of it. So go to the top layer, I select white again. And don't get scared, it's just new layer. So I fill this whole layer in with white. Just some trick. It still there. Don't worry. I'm going to duplicate this layer. So I have to the same square wide on top. But I'm going to use this one as a paper cut out. So I'm going to make this one a little smaller. It's all distortion. We have to make sure it's on uniform. Create a little smaller and eyeball it or choose snapping. You can choose snapping. So you can make it even in the middle of this. And now I'm going to this one. This one is a little bit smaller than this one. So I'll choose this one as template to cut out of the lower part. So I select this one. Go to the layer underneath it and hit clear. Now you see I've got this piece, I've cut out of this one. But now you can see it because this one is still on top. So when I get rid of this one, we now have an outline here, but you can not see it because there is no shadow where we're going to create that by duplicating this line and fill with black select and fill layer. So you now see we have a little bit of the black lines outlines, but I want to make it with a little Gaussian Blur. And let me show you when I can drag the shadow in. The fading. The more fade you have, the more it looks like it's going to bag. But I want to create a same distance approximately as what I had with card with a width are sticker, as I call it here. So it's about 14%. Just make sure you eyeball it to your own work. You have. And then I'm going to lower the opacity them. So it's just a clean white shadow. And I think it's done right now. But I can also choose to leave it in the middle. And I can choose to remove it or create another one drawing in it. Just group this one. This one. We can move the whole set. So with the iL2, I can place it anywhere you want. You see it goes underneath snapping, getting rid of it. I can move it anywhere I want now. But what if I want to move it and make it as it looks like it's cut out with a frame. So I have to move this on top though it above the frame. But when I move this, it would look a little weird if my shadow is also over the frame. So I have to get rid of the shadow and put the shadow only underneath the frame. And now it suddenly looks like my drawing is cut out with whole border. You see loop, it's seamless like now. And we can also do that with creating lettering or your own type of drawing. I want to move this a little bit lower, but I have to move then again, my shadow with it. Again. I want to look to see what it looked like when my drawing is a little bit over the edge because I think that would look more interesting. Let me see if it works or if I'm going to lose a little bit of yeah. It's not. Maybe if I put a little bit smaller, like so. Yes, now my my stripe here is my sketch layer is still in the picture, but my pot is a little bit in the frame and I like that out of it. And now it looks like suddenly we have a light bulb underneath here. But I don't want that, so I must do. What I did is I drawing a little bit, so perhaps a little bit lighter. Just to your own lighting. I want a good clean picture out of it. So I think we created our first 3D painting in procreate. I hope you like this and let's go and do another one.
6. Extra: Troubleshooting selection: Hi, I'm back again with doing a troubleshooting chapter because I found out a lot of people as difficulties with creating the outer border for snickering effect. So let's make sure you have your complete drawing on one layer. Depth must be done, that that's something you have to be done. So then choose, selects, automatic. Then you drop down your pencil and you're going to play with thresholds. Thresholds, you must be set. So it's has put in all the needles, including all the needles and the whole drawing that must be intact. So dropdown slightly to the right, sometimes a little bit to the left. Make sure everything you don't want in the picture left out, but you make sure your needles are still intact. So I think as close as this. And now I will put an invert and the drawing is selected. Then I am going to federate. Makes sure all the needles are inside and all the drawing is inside. About 20% for me now. Then make sure you have your rights. Create a new layer on top. Choose Fill layer. And now you see it's a little bit blurry, but don't mind, the feathering is outside of this. And now we go into this layer and the feathering is outside so it's faded. You can't see the wide, but it is there. So now when we do an automatic selection outside, you see it has a sharp line on the outside. So now we don't federate, but we do invert. Don't feather it. Go to the same layer again and choose Fill layer. Now, we direct this layer to the bottom. Then we duplicate this layer. And the one on the bottom, we're going to fill with black. So select a black, selects a layer and fill layer. And now you can drag a little bit down. Chou Xiang, motion blur, choose layer and then fade it debates and make the obesity less visible, like so. And now, if you look closely, sometimes she will see we have an outline here. So that's not correct. I don't mind, but I'm not perfect. And here also so we could make adjustments to that Bart by going wide layer again. Choose liquefy. Create ONE push, makes sure distortion and momentum are off. You can play a little bit by dragging it outside. And here also, if you want to, you can also choose not to do so. I made a mistake here. I see. I don't watch closely enough. Yes, it's hard to see because my shadow isn't very feasible here. So and this one also we can draw it a little bit outside. So if you have problems with that, you can also, if you find it too difficult, you can also go to your what's called monoline brush and then you can make another piece around it so that's not hard. And also some people have very pixelated like this. Then make sure your your threshold is as close as possible to your drawing. That will help. I hope so. I hope this little piece, this little chapter, will help you understand more. And now sometimes if you really want to do with good, you have also make adjustments to this layer. Juice your liquefy again, and do the same with your shadow. So dragging a little bit here and also a little bit out here, just a little bit, just eyeball it to bits. So I think now it's perfect. I hope this troubleshooting lesson will help a lot for you and you have more fun limits again. Thank you for watching. Bye-bye.
7. Drawing a flower with 2 3D Paper Cuts: So for this next class, I will go into make a flower and we're going to do a two-piece cut out. Just a simple drawing. Why don't we start out with the frame. I know already that I want to create a frame. So let's just fill in the layer and duplicate it. Make the size a little smaller. Choosing movements uniform. Maybe a sicker framed is time, so I'm going to make it a little well, create a little more frame around it. Just like so approximately in the middle. I'm going to select this one. Go to the layer underneath, hit clear. So I made a cut out out of it and then delete the layer on top. And now I'm going to choose black. Duplicate this layer. Select this one. Fill the layer underneath, and now it's blackened. Choose a little bit of Gaussian Blur again, layer and create a little bit of depth. 14% is for me and the opacity to about 36. I think this is a nice clean look of a shared. I don't want to make hard shadows. So this one is grouped and they stay on top. So I don't have to worry about that anymore. Now, I want to make a cute flour. And for this one, I go to my drying to how sick it, it's 11% and I'm going to take just some random shapes. Just a fun non-existing flour. I think this looks cute already. And then I'm going to create a new layer on top of that and go to my fine tip, about 10% and creates just some outlines and little bits of shape. No, I don't like this one. It has to be in approximately the same movement. I don't like to last one. Yep. Now I like it. So now I'm going to color it for debts once only color in the SEC line. So I get rid of the sin lines for awhile now. And I'm going to make a new layer underneath all the drawing layers because I want my color to be on the bottom and the black lines on top. So I'm going to choose my blue color again because I want to flower to be blue watercolor scribble brush. And I'm going to call it from the Centers. Make them a bit darker. Lift and tip again to make it darker. Pull-down lifts. Again, because when you lift your benzoic acid and put it down again, it multiplies itself. So I am going to smudge tool, same brush, and go into tap and debit and make it a watercolor. Luke, because that's what I like him a drug. You can do this with any drawing. If you said it doesn't matter how you make your drawing, sprouted techniques about getting the creation of the dream, a 3D effects in this class. But the coloring and a drawing us all up to you. So I'm going to erase the parts that are outside of the lines. I don't mind a bit, but too much. I do mind. And let me check this ONE again. Yes, this is how I like it. And now I'm going to create the center of the flower on top in black again. And I'm choosing, what should I choose RFI tip a little bit bigger. Just make small lines. I think this is already too big. Create some white lines. Let's do funny stuff. And create some black lines over that again, just to make sure you're creating a depth and some lights in it and perhaps some longer ones. And we can also create some black dots on top. I do everything on a new layer now. Big RNA. And that's okay. Just here and there. Make sure you stay approximately within the beliefs of the flower. Also create little white dots. Make it more cheerful. I love cheerful and I think I like this flower already. So this one is my flower. I'm going to group this one. Group it, make it smaller. Underneath that, I'm going to make my little stem of the flower by just adding a simple line with dry brush. So, and I can draw all the way down. It disappears after my, well, it's almost like a little painting on the wall with a beautiful list on it. And I also want to have another leaf that I only draw the stem and this twig. And I'm going to create a leaf on top of that. So on a new layer, I draw my leaf. Just simple. And just as I did with the flour and going to create a little thinner outline of it with fine tip. This is why I like yes, I'm going to give it some color. So I'm going to draw on the need, the leaves, but on top of the stem. So I move it. You see underneath the leaves and on top of the stack because the stem will stay in the background layer and we're going to lift these and these, we're going to lift them up again. So on this layer we're going to choose some green. And I'm going to my watercolor scribble brush again. And I'm going to smudge it. Stay within the thicker lines in if you having trouble to see, it just removes the sinner lines. And I think this can be a little more freshening, multi-color, so and going to may use saturation and brightness. And what do I choose? More? Saturation may change. It's more to the greenish and yellowish barge rightness. Yeah, I think we're getting there. It's still look I want for the colors. And I'm going to take this color and I'm going to make it a little bit darker in here. As much it again. Just because I wanted to fresh look. So I'm going to make this show again. So now I think this is also ready. Let me see. Let me see. Yes, I will. I already know now that I'm going to miss this later on so and going to trace it a little bit and make new onto the end of the leaf. And I do it in the well between layers because if they don't like it, I chronology move it later. I did it with my dry brush. So when I lifted, it still will be feasible now. So I create this as a new group. And I already like this. So I don't think I'm going to change this. So you can leave this painted picture intact or you can move on from here. But just to make sure, just duplicate this one. You can always remove it later. Duplicate. So now we're going to flatten these groups. Will leave the group of the the the listing outside lifted them intact. We're going to merge the flower grew up. We don't want to flatten them. It's now just only the flower drawing and also the leaf group. We're going to flatten it. So we have now three groups. We have the flower, the whole flower with the coloring, we have the leaf, and we have a part with the steady part with the stem, we leave down at the bottom. This one, we're going to create an out, cut out from. So we're going to selection, choosing automatic, select the background. And you see it's perfectly selected, all the outlines, but I want a little more white on it. So I go invert, see the color changing. Don't be scared. We go to federate and make sure you have enough feathering. So you could also take the little stamps of the flower. Sure, this is here. So and then I choose in white. And I'm going to create a new layer and fill that layer, fill layer. So I'm going to take this down again already, so okay. And just select this layer again. Nih going here, select automatically. And now you see the already you have the perfect outline so you invert them and choose Fill layer so you don't federate again. We're going to duplicate this one to make it black. Select and fill layer. And you already see you have a little bit of shadow, but I want to have it more. So I'm going to move this a little bit down here. That's a little bit, little bit Gaussian blur, know too much. About 9, 10%. And then lower the opacity to a lovely, slightly gray. I want to see the outline here, but I don't want to be on top. So if it's if you don't see the outline here, it's just like it's fading away into the background. So you want to be approximately the way that you have a little bit of outline there and you see it's lifted off the paper. So that's the same thing we're going to do with the flower of the leaf. So we going to relieve layer and we're going to make a selection, automatically, select the background. Choose Invert, federate till about 10%. I think more and more, little bit more. You see it doesn't take the part of the leaf, but it will not happen. So then take what you like and we're going to choose to get rid of the problem later on. Maybe it's not as disturbing. So I'm about 12%, 13 percent now. And I'm going to choose white again. Create a new layer on top and fill that layer. Drag it down underneath. Select again backgrounds. You see it's perfect, but this one, it doesn't. Well, maybe I can blur it right away or maybe I can choose my liquefied tool. That's, that's great. It's a perfect solution for this. I can show you. Where was I? Yes, I have selected it again, invert. And then I have to fill that layer again. And now I cannot see how I going to liquefy. So I changed the background color a bit. But I just want to see this one. So I'm going to layer of the white yes, I'm already on it. I'm going to liquefy to accuse push. I'm just going to easily take this a little bit like this. And now it's perfectly within the line. Make sure that the shape of it is a fluid shapers it's flowing shape, so this one doesn't go well, so make it a little bit pointing. That's a solution for the problem we had. It's also very convenient if we have problems. You say this one isn't correct, but that's what I liked about it. So we're going to lift now this leaf by duplicating. And again choose black, lower part selects and fill layer. So we're going to move this a bit and go to your arrow tool. And the same direction as we did with flour. Choose Gaussian blur. A little bit like 10, 10% inch and lower the opacity again, just like you have approximately the same color as you have here and shadows. And there, I think we have our lovely piece ready? Now it's looked like a cut out of your own drawing in 3D and paper, You made him procreate. So let's get on to the next class.
8. Valentine with extra difficulties : For this next one, we're going to make a valentine cart. So I choose my layer and I choose to dry ink in black. A little bit bigger, like about 18. That's OK. Yeah, 18% is fine for me. For this confess. I'm going to draw a heart, which is just a shape, but it's, which is energetic. It's no heart shape, it's not an equal heart. I don't like it, but if you do, please mix up, you can make your own drawing. Underneath this, we're going to lay down some colors. This we're going to create another layer directly down underneath it. And we're going to give it some color. And I go to my watercolors, crippled brush, make a little bit bigger. Again. This is my shadow and lower part. And I'll go into Jewish orangey color. Just to blend innovates and smudge it from their own. Yes, creates some colors to your lighting. Make it nice and vibrant. I think I could use some more yellow. And because it's a multiplied brush, I have to create a layer on top and give it some more yellow and blend it out a bit. And then I can merge them together and I can blend on from there. So I cannot apply lighter color on the same layer. So I have to do that allowed layer and then blend it. I think it's look, it looks lovely like this. It's looked like watercolor. And I want to give it some white accents on top. Go to my wide-scale, to my dry ink again. Give it as much IQ. Lovely look. Little bit of the rim light, very thin down here. And I think I have done this. And I want to create, Do I want to create another piece on top? Debts? Maybe leave it like this. We make this an easy one. I'm going to get rid of what I spell, spill t or go to my race to colored layer. So let's do what we did before. So we have our drawing. Now let's merge these together. So my group out of it, flatten the group. So we merge those reflected in the group. And now we go into select, again, choose automatic Jewish background. And then choose Invert, federate a bit. Create nice loud outline. 14% For me, it's fine. Create new layer on top. Fill that layer, bring the layer down again to selection again, choose outline again, and you see the line is okay like this. So we just invert it and fill it again. And then duplicate this. Choose black. Select the layer underneath selected, choose Fill layer. And we're going to make it a little bit of motion blurred again. 10%. I think it's fine, and I forgot to pull it a little bit more to decide. Like it like this, and then bring the opacity down again. So does this is what we done already in the last, in the first classes we did. So it's not perfect, but it's fine for me. Now, let's create the outline layer. So we create a new layer on top. I don't know what layer nine is about. Let me see. It's whole complete layer that's empty, so, okay, Let's get rid of it. So it doesn't in the way and the background. So I'm back again. So we created layer on top, filled it with white select and fill layer. Let's duplicate it. And let's create a smaller one for this one for the cutouts. I think like so. Move it to the center of it. Yes. Choose, select, and go to layer underneath 2s clear. Now it's a cut out. Get rid of this one. And we have to duplicate this one again and selected with Fill, Layer and black fill here. And we go into, go Schindler. And now we created a perfect outline for that. A little bit less opaque, so I want my lines to be clean and a little gray. And now we're going to do a fun part with this one. So I want to create this one is a group. So let's get rid of it. We don't need to look at it anymore. And for this heartbeats, we can also create a group. And I want to duplicate this group because now I have two hearts and one of them. I want to be on top of this layer, but I want to make a small one. So lovely is it? So I created a whole new group, and because it's a group, I can do this altogether. I think these look lovely also though maybe I will go into another one. Leave it like this is not what I blend, but sometimes. Things happen. Let's create another piece that's a little bit smaller. And I want this to be on top, but now it isn't on top, so make sure the sides will fit. Otherwise you would have got it off. And now I'm going to lay this on top of the group. You see, it's perhaps I want more shadow because I want to be more on top so I duplicate this layer underneath. So I think this look lovely. And when I resize it or replace it where I can always do that. So make sure nothing is cut off at this moment. So I'm going to create a new layer on top of all of this. And I'm going to write BMI Valentine. And I'm pushing harder when a one seeker strokes and I'm pushing it less with less pressure when it went thinner stroke. So the upstroke are with less pressure and a downstrokes are with more pressure. I have more about that in my lettering class. So just for fun. And just making the letters are alike. Just my crazy letters. How are you liking? And then our next layer I will down Valentine, like this one. So just create how you want them. And I want to be, this one also outlines. So I'm going to this layer. I'm think the letters are fine, how they are standing now I can move them around if I don't like them to fit, but maybe like this bigger, this will fit also very nicely. So everything is grouped so I can always remove them back if I want. So I merge these two. I have to merge them because they have to be on the same layer before I can cut them out automatically freehand. Sorry, automatically. Choose the background. Don't mind that this is not selected because we're only doing the outline. Do invert clicked feder, and make a complete stagger out of this. So we have to make sure there is only one outline there. Feasible. So now I'm going to choose white. I'm going to create a new layer on top of this. And I choose Fill Layer. And I'm going to do this again. I It's helping select on that layer, yes, select backgrounds. And see, now I've got to see where my stickers, so it's complete. And I want to invert it again and choose Fill layer. And now bring it down. And I think I did too much now because now it's way too much over the I I can bring it down in size perhaps. Let me say that I did wrong. Go back, make the whole group smaller. Yes, I think I like it like this. This size is ok. But now we have to make a duplicate out of this one. And we're going to make this a black one. Selects and fill layer again. And we make sure I want to keep the heart on top of this one to be my felon time piece. I want to be real smooth with the outline papers, so I want to create my shadows. I'm going to do just like we did before. Sorry. Gaussian blur layer. Yes, a bit like so. 10%. Yes. And I'm going to lower the opacity of it a bit so it's fitting in with the risks, just like this one. So now I've got to be my valentine part, but it's all the way on top that just like we had it here. And I want this hard to be on top of the BMI relativistic or so I bring this first all the way to the top, this group. So now you can see this is already on top of this. And now I want to merge my b, my valentine sticker with this outside border because I want to look like it's a whole piece which has cut out, but including the BMI Valentine part. And I want the letters to be a little bit on top of the border. For debt. We have to get rid of these shadow here so we can erase that. But we don't want to do that. Because when we choose to decide otherwise later, we can, we cannot make it undo. We cannot undo that. We can use a layer mask, but it's way too hard. The easiest way is to bring the shadow underneath the outside border just by doing so. And now suddenly it's a chorale piece which fits the whole border, is just one piece. And well, that's easy done. I want to have this more shadow. I wanted this to me more on top. And it was the bottleneck is, or maybe we can create another one with little bit Kershaw. Gaussian blur. I'd have heart part with the words and maybe move it more. So now I think that's one is more on top of that. And I want my letters to overlap the side. So it's really looking like it's one piece. So for that one, I'm going to move this a bit more to the right. And you see the shutter stays behind because it's not in the whole group. So we have to move the shadow also a bit to make it more fitting. So now I think we have done a wonderful piece. So you see we have a layered part, we have background, we have a heart, we have another heart on top of that. Then we have the outline border including the BMI Valentine part is one piece. And on top of that, we have the last heart here. So you can also see within your layers how it's grouped. And you can also see that the black background of the BMI Valentine is underneath the border line. So that's the most important part of it and that's how you do your layering. And you did digital card. So I hope you like this one. And we're going to do some other tricks in the next class.
9. Bonus Class: extra tips an ideas: So remember when we talked about making a sticker out of it, but leaving the texture on top of it. So for this one, we go back to this easy one. But we're going to have an duplicates first because we don't want to mess around with the other one. So let's get rid of the frame. We don't need it. Let's merge. Let's get rid of the background. And we don't want to have the shadow, we just want to have the sticker, but we want to have to texture pay on top the textures you have to get rid of, but only the outside. Remember what we did with the automatic selection. That's what we're going to do. We're going to flatten this group. So you have only the drawing anywhere, white outline. This one, we can totally deletes. It's much easier to see like this. Opened up a texture layers and unlock them. So now you see all the textures on top of this. We're going to select this one. Sorry, select, choose, Invert. Go to texture layer and type clear. Now you see it getting the shape only on top of the drawing and the outline. This is what we're going to do and repeat the same texture layers above. So we select this one. Choose invert it, go to the texture layer and hit clear. Here you can also see the shape changed. Same thing for the next two layers. Select this one, hit invert. You go to these layer and hit Clear. And for the last one we, the government to do the same, select, hit invert. Go to this one and hit clear. So now we do have the textured layer, but only on top of the drawing and the background color is clear. So now you can save this as a PNG. So your files or do your images. And now you have complete sticker. And this is one you can always bring into another drawing. So if you've made a lot of days and you want to make a digital craft or digital stickers, or you want to sell your stick, gosh. Now you have a file completed, sir, with the sticker with its water color texture still remaining. So that's my tip. So I'm going back to the original again from this one, I'm going to make a duplicate, duplicate again. And now I'm going to move this one a little bit more and matching the border line. So we're going to do what we did with this Valentine heart. I'm going to move this a little bit more down. Bring it on top because now it's below. You need on top of the border. And it's it's it's fitting. I want to be the drawing. I want to be on top of the border. I wanted to be overlapping. And the shadow must be underneath because otherwise it won't fits the paper. And now instantly it's one match. I think this one is way too much down, so I'm going to liquefy it back up again by pushing the size, very small, little bit upward. So like this. And maybe it's fun to create some splintering behind it. Let's choose a light gray. Grayish green. Yes, gray green. And let's choose a background splash and a layer all the way down, all the way at the bottom. And we make an a big one. And why can't we see it? Because it was hidden underneath and we can create a larger splash. So it will get more depth, depth. So that's how you can easily make changes to your drawings and make it more exciting. So I hope you liked this class and learned about depth and layering and perhaps a little bit of drawing. And if you would like to learn more about these drawings, then I would suggest you like me to go watch my sketchy doodling class and otherwise create your own drawing sigh. I think you can perfectly draw your own and make other pieces of art. You can use it for digital scrapbooking. You can make it for using stickers and well, at least I hope you had fun and leave some reviews and please post your, your work in the resources and the projects section of the class. I would love to see them. So thank you for watching this class again and hope to see you next class. Bye bye.
