1. Introduction: Hi friends, Greetings, ion plus Ryan Gupta and I'm the author of this course, create and publish magazines with Affinity Publisher. In this course, we will go step-by-step and learn all the essentials of creating an online magazine using Affinity Publisher. I've taken this approach so that we learn by doing with help of a real-world project. This is an intermediate course. So if you have some knowledge of working with Affinity Publisher that will help, notwithstanding, we will be covering methods and procedures in detail, which will help you to create a magazine using Affinity Publisher, what you learn here will all good for creating any type of publication. Be it a book or an e-book, or a travel guide, or a research report, we will be learning to design the magazine for appropriate target audience. Will learn to gather content. We will learn to plan what goes where, and we will learn to layout the content, will also learn to publish our magazine and a PDF and upload it to an online platform. Let me just demonstrate this to you and explain to you as to what exactly will be learning. So as you see right now on our screen, we have the magazine covers and we learned to create this magazine cover from scratch. We'll create all this in Affinity Publisher itself without using any third party software. Then we will learn to create editorial big ad. You see on the left side of the spread of very simple editorial page. You'll also learn how to create an index page. Will also learn to create hyperlinks from our index page. Like you can see when I'm hovering the hand cursor is coming up. And when you click on it, you will be going to the relevant content. So we'll learn how to do this, how to insert the hyperlink here. We learned to create spreads like these. So we'll learn how to layout the text, how to format it will learn how to insert pictures and format. It will also learn to create Galileo, like the one we've just seen, how to create it and how to format your major, how to have multiple images coming up on your pages. Will also learn how to create a beard like this where you have a heading, you have some picture coming anyway. So this is all customize placement of text. We learned how to do that, to learn how to insert an image and blended with the background. Will also learn to layout videos ready? And we can insert images and then wrap the text around it. This is a nice way of making your images look more appealing to the viewer. So this is what we are going to be there, MY learning and then I'm going to be small videos which will also explain to use small things like how to work with the masturbated, how to create period numbers in your publications. And the light is going to be a really comprehensive quotes and you will really benefit from this. So I recommend that you enroll in this course and learn and benefit from this course. Take care and happy learning. 2. Planning the Magazine: Hi friends. In this video, we are going to discuss as to how to plan our magazine. So it's going to be all about planning the magazines before you can even think about creating a magazine, you need to think about as to what you're going to be, your target audience. Is it going to be for children, for young adults, for working class people, for senior citizens isn't going to be targeted towards some kind of niche like maybe photography or cooking travel. Is it going to be a general kind of a magnum like the one which we are going to be creating is going to be all about good life as to what are the issues involved in leading a good life. Once you have decided on your target audience and you've decided on the subject matter for your magazine, then comes the process of gathering content. Normally magazines are very rich and photographs and images and cartoons and scattered and the like. And they have to have a good layout. So we will have to gather content in terms of article, in terms of illustrations, photos, and the light, then you need to plan as to what you're going to go away and we just have a look at it practically in a moment. The text, the images, illustrations in case you are having any kind of advertisement that also you've got to think about where to layout and place it. And then you've got to on paper, sketch out the layout of your magnum so that when you are working on it on the computer later, you can place those where you had earlier plan rules. Having done that, you'll have to plan as to how are you going to distribute the magnum? Is it going to be just in PDF format? They're going to be print. Is it going to be distributed through an online platform? So having generally discuss the base, now let's have a look at kind of magazine which we are going to be creating in this particular course. And we're going to be learning about now whatever I will be discussing general in nature, and it can be applied across the board for any kind of publication, beta book, e-book, or any kind of Magdalene. So be aware of that because the color, whether it is for a magazine or a book, the process and the method of creating it may finally be the same. So here in our publication which we are creating, we learned how to get a migraine. We learn how to insert immediate work with text, how to format text. Very important component of any magazine editorial page. So I'm going to be explaining to you how to create a simple editorial period. Then we'll talk about the index or the content page value normally list out the various articles or subjects which are being spoken about in the magazine. I'll also explain how to make this interactive because we are working on a magazine which is going to be published on the web so we can make it interactive. Then we will learn how to work with spreads to layout your image, to layout your text in columns. We'll learn about Column Guides and the like. So all this you need to think about and plan as true on what page, what kind of column you want do you want only single column or you want in your double column or triple column, all that is possible within Affinity Publisher, do you want a full page layout of an image or you just want it in a corner. You want it as a separate entity, or you wanted embedded within text. All that needs to be taught off. You need to also plan about what kind of font will be used in normally my advise you that in a publication don't use more than two fonts, maybe at max three. But generally, stick to that. That gives a nice look to your magazines. Soviet going to be learning about basically the layout. And really to plan out for each phase, we need to plan out as to what is going to build a layout for that article. Where do you want the text to be, read, you want the images to be and the like. Then you need to plan out any kind of photo gallery which you want to create to elucidate an article which you have worked on in your publication like the one that you're seeing here. It's a really simple gallery which I created to showcase the photography done during a wildlife trip. So basically the planning and I discussed to reorder this cosmos offered is going to be about how to create spread of various kinds. If we do the recipe like here, I've got a cocktail. The screen. Where do you want the heading? Google? Where do you want the image trouble when you want to, you know, various kinds of textual and what kind of a color background you want or no background at all. Do you want to enhance it by including an image? So all that needs to be taught of you need to think about how to play, sue me, get it within the text and I've done it yet. And how much clean area do you want around your remains? So all that needs to be talked about. And last of all, what do you need to do it? You need to think about as to how are you going to distribute your librarian so that we'll have a lot of impact on the way you're going to be creating a magnitude. Let's say I want to distribute it just by period. So probably I will not have facing period, I'll have only single pages because that is how it will be red. Now if I'm going to be publishing it online, using an online platform like issue or even, let us say there are so many platform will let you create flip books like the one which we are seeing right now, this particular magnum which I am demonstrating to you, you may like to go in the fourth facing periods because that gives you more flexibility when it comes to laying out your magazines and immediate and text. So friends in this video I discuss with you how to planning what are the issues which you need to think about. And then having done that, how to gather your content. And once you have all that than the actual process of creating the magnum begins and we're going to learn about that in the coming videos in this course. That's it for this video, take care and happy learning. 3. Setting up the document: So friends, in this video we are going to setup our magazine. That is a very important action which you need to take ab initio before you do anything when you are working in Affinity Publisher to set up the magazine, either you could create a new document by clicking here on the splash screen, or you could go down here to the menu, click on fight and you have this option of new, click on it, and then follow the instructions which come up on your screen. Let's create a new document by clicking here. But when you do that, you'll get panel like this where you have many options, like if you have steamed up preserved, you will have it there. You can create a new document for print, for press ready for four doors, web, divisive and art particularly, we are going to be creating this magazine for iPad, and that will be iPad 11. And therefore from this layouts which are available, we're going to click on iPad 11. Otherwise, you have many options for all kind of work like Brendan photo and web. You click on it and it will get be options like footprint, the actual site of papers. Let's get back to the y-axis. I'm going to be selecting iPad 11 inch Retina. This is generally a common side, so we'll work on this. This could also work with 12.9 inch iPad or Mini iPad. As per my experience, you will have to keep the font size a bit larger that we will talk about. Now, having selected this venue, come on to the layout, period here, there are certain columns which need to be filled or the values needs to be changed. First of all, periods read through, you're not tinker with it. We'll leave it as what the machine is offering us than DPI in giving a 144. I would like to renew the DPI to 72 because I'm going to be publishing this on the web to keep the file size for uploader to the minimum. So let's do that. Document the orange points. We'll leave it at points that orientations. I'm going to have the orientation as portraits or click here on portrait, actual size on iPad retina, I think I'll leave it at deformed Image Placement policy have two options. You have prefer link or prefer Embedded. I prefer Embedded because then I don't have to just in case I move my entire folder somewhere else. I don't have to go hunting for the immediate which I have embedded. So I'll leave it at that. But in case we have too many images, you would like to leave it as linked because if we did embedded, the file size is going to be heavy. Now number of periods, you can increase or decrease the previous from here. This is going to be a small magazine with limited number of previous language to do it at 20, you couldn't have as many number of barrier that's entirely up to you. But for this particular document or magazine, I'm going to have habitats 20. Default master, yes. To begin with, to click here, and I'm going to be explaining to you how to create master pages later on in a video and how to apply those master bridges. Now periods here I have the option of Facing Pages or not. And let me just explain to facing period or when you have a spread in front and you can lay out your elements like text and images in a nice manner, which can also spillover to the other page. Now if you want to have that kind of feel, you would like to have it as facing periods. Now remove one thing in case you're creating, like in our case we are creating a magnum for the iPad. It would be prudent to have the first thing period of, because once you export it as a PDF, only one pendent that ion will be coming on your iPad screen. And therefore, if you have let it out at a resting bid, your layout may not be very satisfactory, but in case you are going to be putting it on the web in a manner that it is a flip book. We would like to have the first impedance working in our case, we will work with facing pages so that I can explain to you more details. Now what we can do it here. Instead of devices, we could select. Verbs are less limited devices because the concept is more important than actuals. Then we are going to live this font color. We are going to Gullah format add RGB eight because we are going to be working with the document for being published on the web Gullah profile I live with at this. This is the best profile for me and this will be much better. Otherwise you have many options. Like they're distributed a robot, Jimmy, do you want a transparent background? I don't, so don't check this. Now here, few more things you need to change or set. Firstly, the module, do you want to include margins? Yes, I will include bare minimum margin because this is going to be published on line. So I want to be including the margins. And I'm going to make diff to 0.5. And since this link is active, if we click anywhere, you'll find that this gets applied to outer top, bottom. That's fine with me. I don't require a bleed because I am going to be working with this magazine to be used online. So we don't require a bleed because it's not going for print. But in case you want to also have this ready for print, human like to include the bleed. And bleed is something which is beyond your document. And that's helped for cutting the variance in case it is going footprint. About this, I will explain in great detail in my fundamental course on Affinity Publisher, so I will not dwell on it here further. Now, having done this, we are going to click on Create. And there it is. So now you'll see that we have 20 pages coming up here. We have the first bit. This is going to be a cover period, and we have two periods. If I click, you can see that there's a spread versus page 23 and it goes on till 20 and the last period again, a single page. But this is how you lay out your magazine to begin with. Now you have a structure based on this, you can add on to various elements in your documents. So in this video, I explained to you how to set up our magazine using Affinity Publisher and hereafter will work on various aspects like reading Maslow, book goes spreads and the like. We will discuss all this as we move on. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 4. Creating Master Page: Hi friends. In this video, we will learn how to create master pages. Master pages are based in which we create to ensure that standard layout and formatting is applied to a given page. It helps you to save time in that you don't have to format our porch certain elements like a logo on each bid individually. You can put it on a master bit and it gets replicated on each bid where you apply that master page select tree, how this can be done to apply the master page, we need to go down here and it says Master Pages. Click on it. We already have one built by default to create the masterpiece. We need to go down here. And it says add master. You can also duplicate the selected monster, but we want to create one from scratch. So we are going to click on Add Moscow. And now it gives you the option of name. We'll need the name to default that is muster B. And it says, single office will apply to fishing because that is what we are doing. So we'll select two facing dimensions. There will be no change in dimensions. Margins, yes, we are going to turn the margins. So click on it. We'll click Kellen include margins. And we're going to make this to 15 points. And since this link is intact, it'll get applied to all module that outer, top and bottom. And we're going to click on, okay. Now read the master big selected. We are going to go down to View and we are going to go to guides manager. And this column guides I want to lives. So we're going to increase that to two unrelieved the role that one gutter, I want to have this only as 25, so we're going to make it to 25 points, others nausea and you're required. Now we close this. I only applied to elements to the master page because on EPA related quite a margin or adequate or column guide. This is the master bit I want to be using. So we have our master bit. Now if I go to this page here and click on it, that is not element which is visible. But if I right-click and click on Apply master. And it says McMaster. And if I click on much, Toby, and I click here on current spread and click on, Okay. See now we have this margins and master applied here. So this is how you create master pages and how you can apply master pages to a given bids. We will be creating a few mod master builders in this particular course to meet certain requirements that we shall do later. So having done this, now we can proceed ahead and create our spreads for this magazine. So that's it for this video. And happy learning. 5. Creating the Magazine Cover: Hi friends. In this video, I'll explain to you how to create a magazine cover in Affinity Publisher. We are going to be using only Affinity Publisher to do that. For that we require them image with usual have created and put it inside a folder from where you can import into a Friday publisher. So I take it that you understand that so you have the image ready. And with that, we will work on this. First thing which I want to do is insert a shape and fill it with some color. For that, we are going to take this rectangle tool, go down to this corner. It snaps here and we want to pull it down to the bottom right corner when he snaps. And we'll leave the color to what it is for the time being. And let's lock this layer so that when we work on top of it, it doesn't move. Having done this, I want to place an image on this cover for that we will go down here to File. We're going to click on Place, will pick up an image which is going to compliment this magazine. So this is going to be the one which I'll take. And we are going to point this out, this anterior not getting fail. So I'm going to pull this a bit more so that we have this coming in like this. In fact, I'll also pull it on top of it, more. That should be good enough. And I'll click what I want to crop this image to fit in the periods. So we'll select this crop tool here. And I do see the handles shape has changed. We're not going to drag this and put it here. That's done. Now we want to merge this image with the background for that, we want to select our and we're going to take this transparency tool. And we're going to click here and on top see how the corner is becoming a bit soft, adjusted correctly and we're going to leave it here and click anywhere. So now the editors are not that sharp and it appears highly fertile blending. Now another thing which I want to do is this background color. I want it to be complimentary to the entire image for that, what we'll do is for the timing will unlock this background layer selected, and we're going to unlock it. Haven't done so. With that selected, we are going to take the color picker tool and we are going to pick a color from here. And this may be a bit light, so we will, or let me take it from here. I think that should be good enough. And if required, we can change it again. And let's lock this layer again. So we'll look at here. Now I want to put in some text to deflect idea of what this magazine is all about. For that, we're going to take the Artistic Text tool. Does drought a simple one. I wanted to have this font that agency FB, and we're going to type in. Some text. To do this. I go over this a bit. This, that should be fine. Now this was a captain. So we want to delete this press Shift and press. That should be fine. And we're going to change this font color to white. So click and go to swatches. Click, and that's the color which I want. I haven't done that. Let me give the title here. So again, we're going to take the Artistic Text tool. And I want to have the font as Uber. And we're going to type in good. Renew the side of this a bit. That's fine. And I want to change the color of this font too. Say somewhere here. Maybe this or this, I think this looks good to me. You can play around and pick up the color of your choice. So i've, I would prefer this color. And we are going to now create another word and that you're going to be life and will change the font to, let me see something in running hand. Well, let's take this caveat. Less inclusive font size. Let's move it and align it with this. We can reduce the file size a bit and target on the left side here. I'll increase this a little bit more. And even this will be increased a bit. Okay, that's great. So that looks fine to me. Now, I want to give a bit of layer style to this. I want to apply a shadow so that it stands out. So we'll click on that and right-click, go down here to let effects. And click on outer shadow, then increase the radius a bit. Include the offset that is visible light you can see and also include the intensity. They would leave it at this. That's fine. Let's leave the opacity to that only. You can play around with this and just the way you want to, I'll leave it at what at it at the moment and let's close it. Now. We can go down here to edit will competence. And we are going to select life. We're going to go down again to edit and click on paste effect. So the shadow I've got applied here also. Now I just want to mention the date and the issue number for that. Once again, we will take this Artistic Text Tool and go down here. And we are going to take me fond it, NCLB, Flash Player 1, 0, 1, 0, 2, 0, 2, 0. And we are going to reduce the size of it. That should be fine. I drag it down to this level here. And we're going to make this font as white. So go back again to swatches white. And now press the Control key and drag this towards the right. This is the way we will be able to duplicate that same text. And we are going to change the text here as issues. Hash, depth and shifted 100 tour. So right there we have it. We have our magazine cover ready. Now I can play around and change the font size and the layout at Mitre. They want to, to get it to the level which I did. I, but I think I'll leave it at desk for the time being because my inward just to explain the concept to you and I think I have managed to do that. So this is how within Affinity Publisher itself, just by using some image and text, you can create a very nice book cover on a magazine cover, the way we have done it. So that's it for this video. Thanks for listening, Take care and happy learning. 6. Creating the editorial page: Hi friends. In this video we're going to learn how to create an editorial page of the kind you are seeing on the left bit of this spread. And editorial page normally conveys to your users what this edition of the magazine is all about. And you also can spell out things like who has done the cover period, who the editor, and who are the contributors of the current issue of the magazine. So it's going to be really simple affair will put in the image like this. We will learn how to place an image, then it two-sided and place it wherever you want. We learn how to enter text and format it as you can see it here. So let's get going. Let's go back to the publication which we are working on. Now here before we go and come to this empty spread here, let me just explain to you, as you can see here, certain pages on already completed because 20 periods this magazine has and we can't work with all produced because it will amount to a lot of reputation. So I'll be explaining to you to complete certain spreads with concept, methods and procedures which you need to know to be able to layout your magazine with a text animator. Then also certain shapes and special effects as required to make your magazine attractive. So this is what we are going to be doing now, coming down to the spread where we are going to be working. Now, here on the left side, we are going to be creating the editorial page for that first thing we need to do is insert an image. Let's go down to File. Let's click on Place and navigate to the folder where we have the image, not to say they made with I'll be using click on Open. And let's click here and drag this image. And let's bring it to the level where it fits in the page. Now this ad, you can see it is pretty big. So we are going to crop this image. Click here on the crop tool and you can notice that the handles have now cleaned. We'll grab this handle and bring it as close as possible. Like this. We are also going to crop it from here and much as we can. And now having done that, let's move this image here. And from bottom also, we are going to grab this a bit like this, and go down here. And now let's grab this and move it to the can, pull this up and I require more space here, so I need to crop this a bit more. Let's grab this and we'll bring it around here. Let's bring this group to this. But I think they should meet my requirement. Let me just put it on there. That's fine. So this is how we brought in an image and we have corrupted and we are lifted the way we wanted. Now here we will enter some text. For that. I already have some texts written out, so I'm going to copy that. We're going to take this frame text tool, click on it and draw out a frame. And we're going to insert this text here. And we need to increase the font size. And that we are going to make it to, let's say 18. And we are going to justify it. So let's click on justify. And we'll have this font. Let's say Arial font. Click on this. In fact. Yeah, that's fine. Now you'll notice that there is a issue. When I justified it. There are large gaps between certain words. To resolve that we can go down to paragraph, click here on paragraph, and then scroll down in this panel where you have this hyphenation. And let's use auto hyphenation. So once you do that, you'll notice that another spacings have generally got adjusted and let's now reduce this to this side. So this has been done. Now we need to add some more text below for that. Again, we're going to copy this whole thing. Right-click and copy it. We are going to draw another frame Text tool like this, right-click and we're going to paste whatever we copied will increase the font size to 18 points. And we are going to obtain the font to Arial. And I want this to be justified to the right for that with this selected, we are going to go up here and click on right justified. This is done. We need to do few things like, I want the headings in bold, so we select that and replicate on bold. And then I want a space within this will go down. And again, we're going to select this. And we're going to make it bold. Let's repeat this till you get the formatting the way you want to make it too. Bold, line trend. So our editorial pages now Dunn, et cetera, simple affair retired, made in this particular video. We just inserted an image, resize, corrupted and placed it. We are brought in some texts which I already had typed in Word. And then by drawing out the frame tech to line inserted this text and I formatted this the way I wanted to. And the same thing has been done here. That's it for this video. Take and happy learning. 7. Laying out a spread: Hi friends. In this video we will learn how to create a spread like what you're seeing right in front of you. The basic aim here is to give you an idea of how to place images and how to insert text in columns. How to make it flow to different columns. In that we will learn to create and insert a full page image that will add onto some headings here. And then we're going to put this text columns and also formatted. So let's see how this can be done. Let's get back to the document which we are working with. So yeah, this is a spread where we are going to be working on creating the spread, as we discussed for the first thing which we are going to do is we're going to insert a full page periods for that. Let's go down here to File and click on. And I am going to scroll and look forward. They may be Taiwan. This is what I want you to click on it and then we just drag it down like this. Now this is not filling up the entire thing, so we got to drag it here. And we're going to crop this image, this level. And that does it. Now, we are going to further timing, lock this layer, go down to layer and we want to lock it because I am going to be typing on it. And I don't want that this image should move from where we have inserted it. Let's take the Artistic Text tool and we're going to type. Let's review the size of this text to fit in here and we're going to center align it. We need to select the text and center aligned. And I'm also going to change the font. I want the font to be less. Let's make it, it asks board are looking to code that score. Don't know. This looks fine. So click on this and that it has really changed also the color of the text click here, and we'll make it this color and that should be fine. Let's include this either, but okay, let me also drop a shadow on this text. So right-click. Go down to layer effects. Let's take the outer shadow and let's increase the radius. And also the offset. You must be seeing the changes taking place in real. And we will increase the intensity a bit. That should be fine. And let's close this. So there we have this page all set. Now, we should have actually inserted an applied, a masterpiece width column guide. So what we'll do is select the speed and we're going to click on it. Right-click Apply Master. And we're going to select the master B, which we had created earlier, and we'll apply it to the current spread and click on OK. And there we can now see the column guide. I did this because now I'll be inserting some text here. And for that, that text to be aligned to these columns, not to put the text. I already have the text typed 10 inward and that is what I would recommend any kind of larger texts better to type or 10 and then just copy and bring it in. So we're going to select this right-click, copy it, and then we are going to take the frame text tool, draw out the frame here, right-click and we're going to paste the text. Let's select the text. And we are going to increase the font to, let's say 16. We are going to justify it. Let's make the heading a bit bold. Now, you must be not seeing that here we have got a red mark, which means that the text is not fitting in the column correctly. So let's just click on this. Now, our cursor is loaded with the text which is going to overflow into the column which we create here. So let's create the column. And I think this is it. I am also going to change the font to Arial. So let's select this again here. And this has gone top layer select Arial. Font has now changed accordingly. And the side, they're going to be fine. We're going to make it to 16. And we may include the sign of this heading to let us say 20, and that's fine. Okay, that should be fine. And we're going to bring in an image and we're going to put it on this column itself. So we're going to go here to File Place, and we're going to pick up, we need to deselect and then bring in the image. Please. We're going to bring in this image open. All right, let's have a look at the layout as it will appear to the eyes when we publish it. We're just click here on preview mode. This is the water spread. I'm going to look like plaid friends. So we are done with this spread. We inserted a full page. We give this a heading. We have inserted the text in two columns, and we have inserted an array. I'm sure you must have learned something from this. And this is what we're going to repeat in couple of Baden with, with few changes so that you understand and come to know as to what is the method or procedure of laying out your magazine and certain tools which we'll be using to do that. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 8. Creating a page for recipes: So friends, in this video, we will learn to create a simple layout. This left side, because it's a cocktail recipe, this kind of a layout can be used for any kind of spears, whether it be cocktails or bags or any kind of food. So let's see how we can clear this kind of layout. Here, I have a blank page in the publication which we are working. The first thing which I want to do is give a background to this pay for that. We're going to click on the Shape Tools and select the rectangle tool. And we'll draw out a rectangle like this, retain the color a bit later. In fact, we can do it right now. So having this selected, I want this color to be a Word doc. And for that we're going to click here. And I think I will leave it at this. Haven't done this. I want to lock this layer so that when we put other elements on top of it, this doesn't move for that. We are going to go here and click on lock. So this LED is now locked. But this locked. We are going to enter some text, Soviet going to take the Artistic Text tool. And we're going to write it in here. And it's going to be on the beach. We live the font and the tail will drag it to the center and literature. Now the next thing which we want to do is insert the recipe. So we're going to go down again to what we have saved. We're going to pick this up, copy, copy it. We are going to take the frame text tool, grab it, and then draw it out here like this. And we're going to right-click and paste it to increase the font size to 16, or maybe even more. Atp routine the color to white. We're going to put this in a manner that we can see eating gradient. So this is how you format this. I have done. Or we put ticket or further to the right so that we have more space for the image. I'm going to be putting in here. Now we're going to insert a shape. And then within that we will place a picture showing what the cocktail risk-free actually looks like. For that, Let's go down here and left. Go to or you could take the cloud to let me try this out. Please sit here. Let me reduce the size of it. That should be fine. And within this, we have the Cloud pool here. We are now going to insert a picture. So you're going to place the picture file. Click on Place. We're going to pick up this image from here, click Open. And we're going to draw it out on top like this. And we want this to be inside the Cloud. So we're going to grab it here in the Layers panel. And we're going to. In here and you can see that now the picture has gone inside the shape. And we can reduce the size a bit so that the, all the relevant portion of the picture for JSON Alam doing right now. And then just click anywhere outside and there we have the speed photo were then our shape. We can have any kind of shape. I've just chosen this shape to demonstrate you try it out the way you want to. Now we're going to place some more texture, which will be the directions of how this cocktail recipe is finally made. So we will again go down to the place where I have got the texts are written out. You could type out the tests directly or you can type it out in a word processing software and then just cut and paste within your publication. I like to do this because it's more convenient. Let's just draw this out, right-click and paste it. We need to increase the font to let say 18. And we're also going to tree and the color of the font for the renewal visible by wearing gloves, swatches, click, and that it has, in fact, we could include this to about 24 is visible better this way. And this also we couldn't bu, but for the time being, we do it as a test. So there we have the heading, we have the picture, we have the ingredients, and we have the directions. Now this portion is blank. I just want to add in a filler. I'll put them up at geometry relevant to some kind of cocktail or drinks. For that, we're going to go down to File and we're going to place a picture from the library which we have is going to be adipic, going to be placing this picture here, this picture open. We are going to reduce the size of this. So take the crop tool and I'm going to crop this. Paints will say about this part and from her, we'll crop a bowl and we're going to push it up. Okay, this should be fine. But here you can see that the areas here are a bit sharp, little bit poster. So I want this to blend with the background for that, what we're going to do is we are going to take the transparency tool, go down here and drag this up to you how blending now. And I think we can do it and this is allowed those hard edges which were there are not visible. Period now done. Let us recapitulate what all we did here. We put our background using a rectangle shape. Then we added on this heading. We added this ingredients here by drying out frame text tool. Then we took a shape and we have inserted this image inside here and we have put in some directions by holding the textbook and then we replaced an image, as you can see at the bottom, we cropped it to bring it to the side of it. We wanted, we adjusted the shape and then we have using the transparency tool, blended this picture, that it blends well with the background and there are no harsh lines visible. So friends, That's it for this video. And not these are small ideas which I am conveying to you in IIT tutorial. And you will realize that it contains different concepts and ideas which will be quite helpful when you're going to be creating your own publication. So pay attention to this. And once you have seen the demonstration, do practice and create something like this on your own, then only you will be able to understand the concept, methods, and procedures well, so that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 9. Using text wrap to layout pages: So friends, in this video, we are going to learn to create a page like you see right in front of you, on the right page, read and it's going to be text-heavy. And within the text we are going to be inserting images and we're going to wrap text around it. So this is another way of laying out your content and your magazines. And let's have a look at it. And this content is also going to overflow into the next period you can see, and it is going to be formatted like this. So let's close the space and we have a blank period here. The fibular artery are going to be using to insert the content. Before we do that, the column guides are not visible. Saw, let's click on the space. It's already selected, Right-click and it says Apply Master. Click on this. And we are going to select Master B. If you recollect, we had created column guide from this master page and we are going to select current spread, and we are going to click on, Okay. So there we have the column guides visible to us. And this is what we're going to take help off to insert our content. So let's go and copy the text which I am going to be inserting here. I already have it type in Word and that is how you plan to do and just have it typed in a word processor. And that will help you to just copy it and bring it into your spread. Having copied this, we are going to create frames for the text. For that. We'll go here and we are going to pull it out. You can see it's just align it with the columns. Right-click. Paste it. And we're going to select all this and increase the font. In fact, first change the font to Arial and will increase the size to 16. And we are going to justify it. Now noted that in certain places that are abnormal separations in words. So for that, what we'll do is, we'll go down here to paragraph. We are going to click here on hyphenation. And we are going to make this use auto hyphenation active by check marking it. And that will take care of these gaps. Now as you can see here, there is a red triangle below, which means that the complete text is not flowing through. So we're going to click on this and the text gets loaded. We are going to now draw another column. And you will see that as we draw this, we have it filled with text. But at the bottom, some posts on their texture has not got the font and size as we had done for other Soviet going to select it, and we're going to select Arial. And make the font size to 16. Now, I want some area on top. We are going for a heading, so you're going to click this and we're going to bring it down a bit, sad this much. And similarly here. So we've got now red dots and the red triangles here, which indicates that your columns don't have the full text. You need to do something about it. We'll do that in a rubric. Before that, let me just enter the heading here. So for that, I'm going to select the Artistic Text tool and we're going to draw this out here. And I want to type in hello. Let's just move this to the center, my nepa agenda font, a font we can live with editors. And the size, let's make it to, let's say 36 or maybe 48. And we are going to change the color of the font to black. For that, we will use swatches and that's fine. Click anywhere. And we have our heading going began blade further down. That should be fine. Now add I had mentioned to you that certain tech has not been accommodated within the frame. So we're going to click here. This is going to load the text. We'll scroll down to the next page. This also requires column guide, so I am going to select this right-click. Apply a master. I want to apply Master, be applied to current spread and click on, Okay. So we have this idea. With the help of this, we are going to drag this tech, see how this texture is now flowing and the size of the text. Area 16, that's fine. Now I want to make this justified. So I'm going to select it and click on justify. And this is what justified. I am not finding much problem in the gaps between the words, so I leave it as it is. So having done this, let's go back to the previous page selected, and we're going to be inserting two images for that. Let's go down to, in fact, we must first ensure that nothing is selected. Click somewhere on the right side. And then we're going to go to File, we're going to go to place. And from the immediate which we have, this is the one which I want to insert and drag this one and this one. So let's say like this. Open it and we're going to draw this out here. I think this bigger going to be good enough. But you can now notice that the text below where we are port the radius not visible. And therefore we need to wrap the text around us humid. So when this image selected, we are going to click on this icon which says Short Text Wrap settings. Under certain settings which we have in front hours now, we are going to make it too tight or you can even do a square root, but we will lose tight. And though the text has now wrapped around, but there are not adequate separation between the text and the you made it. So we'll do that by using the up and down sliders here. So we are going to make it to five points, and we're going to make all 25 points. So now you can see that nice separation between the text and this image. So this is how you insert an image in texts frames and wrap the text around. There are red dots which have come up again. We'll resolve the issue a bit later. We'll put one more immediate inside. For that. We are going to again go through, Let's first click surveys and then go to file place. And we are willing to pick up this immediate open it. And we want to insert it here. And we're going to do the same thing. Click on and drag this panel is already open text wrap, so we're going to select type and other texts about wrapped. And we are going to include the distance from texts to five. So that's now need enough. We are having certain hyphenation problems. So we're going to go down here to paragraph, we're going to click on Use auto hyphenation and that should take care of it. In fact, you just move it around and see that the text settings, okay, and lateral, so the purpose, so this part is now done and now we will take care of this region overflowing. So click on this and we're going to go to the next page. There's close this panel. And here, since we have this red dot, that means we need to increase the size of the text frame to accommodate all the texts which we have. And I think that's done now. Now you can work with the side headings like this one. I would like to make it bold, so selected. We will increase the size to, let's say 18 and we'll make it bold. Similarly, any kind of heading with to find what you want to work with, you can do that in a similar manner. For example, here we have macro performance. We're going to increase the size to it in points and we're going to make it bolder. And now let's have a look at our period, how it looks. So click on preview mode, and then this is what our period now it looks like, and similarly it will be below. So friends in this video, I explained to you another way of laying out text and images within your magazine. And this is a very useful way of inserting images and wrapping text around it and making your Bridget look visually appealing. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 10. Laying out a gallery: So friends, in this video, we will learn how to create a simple photo gallery on one of our videos and our magazine, like the one which you're seeing here on the right side. So let's see how we can do this. Let's close this. And here we have our blind period. Now on this we are going to create the photo gallery. Now. First of all, we need to apply the master page so that we can see the column guides. For that. We will click on this, a right-click. And here we will apply the master. And from here we will select Master B and also select current spread. And click on, Okay. So here we have the column guides now visible to us. Using this, we are going to place a few images. So we'll go down here to file. We'll click on Place. And I have the majors here. Here they are. And let's pick on to this one, will open it. And taking the help of the guide, Let's draw this picture here. Please sit here a bit. Now, right-click and we are going to click on layer effects. From her will apply. The outer shadow will increase the radius. Also the offset intensity. Move it a bit to the side so that you can see what you are doing. Now the angle and color, we leave it as it is. And we're going to close this. Here. We have formatted this way, the way we want it to be the shadow, it looks more emphasis is there on the image. Now, here after the work is quite simple, select this press Control and then drag it. Now this is going to duplicate the image. And you can see, place it the way you want to. And then with this selected, if you see I didn't change the player's image, click on it. And we are going to pick up this image. We are going to open it. And then it's got a replace silicon estimate again, press the Control key, duplicate this the way I'm doing it. And with this selected click on Replace Image, I hope you have done what you need to do. So there we have it. We've got now all the images which we wanted to. And very simply we have given it a shadow, and then we have duplicated the remainder, then replace the images. So friends in this video, I explained to you how to create a simple photo gallery, one of your period of the magazine. I explained to you how to apply master page. I explained to you how to import and place an image, then apply a layered effect to give it a shadow. Thereafter how to duplicate the the media then how to replace the images and thereby creating a very simple photo gallery. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 11. Create an index page: So friends, in this video, we're going to learn how to create an index page, something like what you are seeing here on the right side, basically giving out the content of the publication or the magazine. So let's see how we can create this. Let's close this and go to the product on which we are working. So here we have a blank page. The first thing which we need to do is bring in an image. For that, Let's click here and click on Place. And we're going to bring in this particular image here. Click on Open, and let's drag it out to fill up the entire page. That'll be fine. This does push it up a bit on top and we will require to crop this from top. So select the crop tool bringing down here. So this bit is done. Now we locked this page for the time being. So select this and click on this lock, unlock icon so that when we work on this, the spirit doesn't move. Now, having done this, we are going to write in a heading here. So let's take this Artistic Text Tool and let's type in content. Let the font be the same, and we're going to move it a bit here. And probably reduce the font size slightly to pretend that should be okay. And we are going to again take the, in fact first-class click somewhere. Take this Artistic Text tool, and we're going to go type in October. Let's change the font of this. Something I'm running hand. Let's make it. That's fine. Let's include the side a bit and drag IT. Alignment here. So that's done. Now, what we need to do is we are going to put a white rectangle here. For that, Let's click on the Rectangle tool. Bring it in and we'll change the color to white. We'll pick it up from the swatches, right? That's done. And now we are going to insert some texture which I already have typed in and world. So we are going to select it from here. Let's bring this down a bit. Under the 12 Olympian here. Now, let's take this frame text tool, draw it out here. And we're going to pairs that text within. Let's select it and include the font to 16. And let's make it 18. Fine. Now, we are going to format this. Let's make this two Arial. And we are willing to make a 0 for as bold. Similarly, this run tambor as bold. Cocktails bowl. Then cocktail recipes file, and this one has bolder. So that we've got our index page. Now already. All that we have done in place, tiny made we locked it. We put in a heading and we have portend a frame text area with this texture, which spells out the page numbers of the content. Later, we are going to link these and insert a hyperlink because this is going to be published as PDF, will be able to jump to the page which we want to by clicking on these topic headings, right, friends. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 12. Inserting page numbers: So friends, in this video, we are going to learn how to insert page numbers and our publications. We are almost done with our publication and now it's time to put in the page numbers. And this can be automated by using the master pages. So we'll go down here to master pages and we are going to click on add master. And we have certain options. We are going to live this to default and click on, Okay. So now we have just masterpiece and we are going to be placing certain elements here. First of all, let's take rectangle, and let's press this rectangle here and let this be off. Black color says, move it a bit here. That should be fine. And on top of this we are going to insert a frame, text frame. That should be all right, Let's now go to text. And we are going to insert fields and paid numbers. So there it is. And we're going to select this. We are going to change the font color to white. It's only white, so no issues. We are going to grab this box and move it over here. So there it is. Let's first and just refine and move it towards the bottom. I think that should be all right for the unknown, we can align the human by grabbing this, clicking on a line and we are going to align center. We can also align like this and we're going to apply it. So that's done. Now let's select both these and move it towards the right pressing Control key. So there it is. And we are going to leave it here. So now let's just jump to other periods and see whether this is visible or not visible. It's not visible, yeah, so we are going to and right-click this selected. We're going to right-click. We're going to apply the master pages. And we have the options here, the Mastaba to 12 apply for period numbers as master C. And we are going to apply this to all pages. And we will not replace the existing master pages because we have certain elements on those. So we'll uncheck this and click on. Now, if we go to the second page, you will find that the PID number is dead. But we're not finding the PID number because this image is higher envy order. So we are going to right-click and we're going to arrange and it moved to back. And now you can see that paid them. But here, this will have to do for all periods wherever the period number area is getting covered by an immediate any other element. So let's go ahead and let's plays this tool back. And similarly, let's select this and please send to back. Now, we can see the page number here, but we don't want this PID number because it says the book cover. So what we can do is right-click him. We can click on Clear master. And now we'll see the PID number is not visible, so paid number will now start from the second spread. Then we go down to the next spread. Here again, we can see the page number here, but we, yeah, we can see it here too because I paste it behind. And then here we'll have to do a bit of work. So we select this right-click. We will have to click on Arrange and we have to move this through back and now outbred number and visible. Similarly, we need to select this, we need to right-click, we need to arrange and moved to back and hear the pin number is now visible. Let's go to this page. Here we have the pin number, but we can't see the PID number, the earth and we'd right-click, go to arrange and moved to back. We'll have to do this for all the periods. Wherever the PID number of getting covered. Here we have this particular object. So we right-click, arrange, and move to back, and we have the pin numbers now visible. Let's go for all arrange, move to back. Similarly, we'll do here, range, move to back. So we'll have to move this also backs or arrange and move to back. So what we'll do for others, I want to leave it at the tz very aware it is visible, that's fine. Otherwise, you understood the idea I rented. So friends, in this video I explained to you how you can use master pages to insert pages, like we've done here. And we created this div elements here on masterpiece. And now that has got applied to all the periods. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 13. Creating hyperlinks: So friends, in this video, we are going to learn how to make our publication or magazine interactive. There in from the index page, we will be able to jump to any article which we derived two and then come back to the index page. This can be done by creating hyperlinks or inserting hyperlinks for that, first of all, we need to create the anchors. So let's create a paid anchored on the index page itself. We need to select this text. Right-click. We go to interactive. And then we need to first of all, insert anchor. Click on that. And here the name is content, so it has picked up the name. And we will leave it at that and click on. Okay. Now we will scroll down and go to that period which we need to link to this article we want to jump to if required. So we're going to select this text. Right-click. Go to interactive. And we're going to click on Insert anchor. And he said about IoT, so fine, that's okay with us. In case you want to turn them in, you can do that. Click on, Okay. Now, you must be not saying small back arrow key, which I will insert area. Thus you can insert pages. We can now select this and every right-click and go to interactive. It said insert hyperlink. We can't do that because from here, I want to jump back to the index page. So click on Insert hyperlink. Now it is giving you this option of hyperlink type. So in our case, is going to be anchored. Otherwise the options off video, the URL file, an image. We'll select anchor and anchor about IOS higher. Now we will click on this and we have options. So we'll click on content and character style. I will make it to North style and click on. Okay, we'll see how this functions when we practically, they want strip the interactive PDF. Now let's go down to lupins here. This also I want to link. So I will select this right-click interactive and insert anchor. The name will be, That's fine. Click on OK. Now this again, we want to hyperlink tool. So right-click on this interactive. Insert hyperlink and it will going to be anchor. And we're going to again hyperlink this to content that you'll be index-based and click on. Okay, now let's go down to this. Let's select this whole thing on other. Thus the top right click, Interactive. Insert anchor. And this is fine, okay? Select this arrow, right-click on it. Interactive. And we're going to insert hyperlinks. And the hyperlink is going to be the content page and the style will make it to no style and click on. Okay, go back to element b. So this is about the cockpit. Let's select this. Right-click on it. Go to interactive. Insert Anka. That's fine. Then selling this back arrow key or right-click interactive, there's going to be real insert a hyperlink, click on this. And the hyperlink is going to be content page and no style. Click on, Okay, I think one more we need to do review. We select this. Right-click. Go to interactive. Insert anchor. And men will review, and we'll click on. Okay, let's select this. And right-click. Let's insert the hyperlink. Hyperlink type is going to be anchor and ankle about IO tell no, it will be about content. And the character style. We're going to read those style and click on, Okay. We have created anchors on all the periods where we want to jump to or navigate to from the menu. Let's go back to the index page. Now here we will select this topic Heading. Right-click. We're going to make this interactive by inserting the hyperlink. And from here, we want to jump to iota. That's good. And character style is going to be no style. And let's click on. Okay. Now let's select now this run tumble. Right-click. Interactive. We are going to be inserting the hyperlink and we're going to now hyperlink to run tumble. So we need to select that from here. And the center runtime Board National Park or encounter run tumble national park. Let's click on that. And let's make this two non style and click on. Okay. Now, let's do this clock temping. Select this right-click interactive. We are going to click on Insert hyperlink. And it will hyperlink now to kill recipes, editors or other Moscow Mule punt. Let's make this two No Style. Click on, okay. And the last one. Review of lens. Right-click on this, make it interactive and insert hyperlink. And it going to be a review. Laws style. Click on, Okay. So we have done the necessary work to make our publication interactive. Let's now publish this. So for that, let's go down to file and we'll export this as a PDF. Will ignore the sun Continuing Periods. All fine. I'll explain this later when I talk about publications. Click on Export, and let's select this service. So there are periods now opened up and let's go down to the content pane. Here we are. And you will not do that as we move to the article headings in the index page, our cursor is changing to handcuff. This indicates that the interactive. So let's, let's just jump to this article. Let's say you want to go to our hotel, we click on it. And then we have jumped into this article. Then we have the arrow here. We click on it, and we're back to our content page. Similarly, if we click on run tumble, we'll come to this page and we have an arrow here. We click on it, and we're back to the content breeds. Now let's jump to this cocktails. Then we are at the Moscow Newland cocktail page. We click on this arrow and we're back to the index Similarly with a review of lens, here we are, and we clicked and we are back to the index page. So it makes quite easy for the reader to be able to navigate to the article or to the page read which he actually wants to read, not all articles you may like to read. And from that point of view, this facility, which is available to be able to hyperlink to various pages and make your publication interactive writing is a very good idea, and this is what I explained you in this particular video. Lu, go through this video a number of times to understand the concept which I have explained to you. And very soon you will be able to create your own interactive publication. That's it for this video, decay and happy learning. 14. Publishing to PDF: So French, In this video, we are going to discuss how to prepare for publishing. So far, we have been working on a magazine and we had been working with spreads with facing period. As you can see, two periods are facing each other. Now this amendment I had done so that when we are laying out the content like immediate and texts order, any kind of illustration. We see what is on the other page to be able to adjust content or layout the content in a manner that they compliment each other. And that was fine as far as laying out the subject matter is concerned for the magazine. But when you're going to be publishing, this layout would be fine if we are going to be using it for print, but we are going to be publishing it as a PDF. That will not look good because when we publish it, one period will appear as combination of two pages that you the complete spread. Now that is not what really is visually appealing when you publish online as a PDF or even, you know, as part of a flip book. So for that, we need to make certain changes with this selected. If you go down here into the top left corner, you have this optional documents setup. Click on this, and you'll get this option here. And as you will notice here is giving up facing pages. But that is what we had selected earlier. Now we need to uncheck this because we don't want face in previous. When we are going to be publishing online, your reader will be reading it as a PDF. And that is going to be single pietas, even if you laid out as part of a flip book, then also it will require single-bonded to do that. So having untick this, we'll click on, Okay. And now you'll see all these pages have become now single pages. Now, having made this gendered in our publication, now we are ready to publish it as a PDF. And for that, we're going to go down to File, go down to Export. And we're just going to click on ignored and continue. And you will notice that for the Exporting, There are many options available. Png, JPEG, GIF, if BSD, SVD, and the like. But we are going to be exporting it as a PDF. So click on this and here, there are many producers available. So if we are going to be printing for publishing, for print, then we can select PDF for print. But in this case, we are publishing for the web or to be seen online. Therefore, we're going to click on PDF, digital, small size, that is what I want. And then at Aster or DPI, you could habit as high as possible, up to 400. But we are going to keep it low because when you are publishing it for the web or to be viewed online, you want that your document audio orders, publication gets uploaded quite fast and it occupies less amount of face on the desk in the Cloud. For that, we're going to select now 72 and b resolution is good enough to be able to view it on your devices right up to your desktop computer. And here we have this checked notice Preview export when complete, nothing more is required. Here we'll leave it at all pages. And it said estimated file size is going to be 3.54 MB. That's absolutely fine with us. And now click on Export. And we're going to route as amines. And let's save it. And let's just scroll through. Then we have our document and the fifth hour to going to be available to us to be viewed and it looked pretty good on your iPad. And so this is how you will make certain agenda before publishing and you publish your document to be viewed online as a PDF. So that's it for this video. Take care and happy learning. 15. Publishing to online platforms: So friends in this video, I'll explain to you how to upload your publication to a site known as issue.com. Now it's an online publication site and you can upload your publication there. And you can make it visible to your audience. They have both free and paid options available. So let's go to issue.com for that type in and press enter. This needs to be done in your web browser. And now you will get this kind of an interface. If you're already registered, you can log in or try now. So we will try now. Click on it. And you have these options like the basic plan is available for, nothing is free. No other options like, you know, which they have is a starter for dollar 99 a month, premium per $1.40 a month, and optimal hurdler to six times per month. They all have various options. You decide on your own what you want to do. I would recommend that you go in for basic to begin with. And if you are a person who wants to sell it or he wants to embed the content on their own website and probably will have to go for this startup pack. And if you want to do more than that, you will have to go for the premium pack, I don't think could acquire this optimum back. Well, that entirely depends on you. So we will click here on Get Started, and now you'll get this option so you can either fill in your e-mail, your password, your username, and all that, or you can just continue with Facebook or sign in with Google. I'll do that with Facebook. And since I'm already registered with them, I get this message and we'll continue. Now. The first thing is that to convert your PDF, which you have created already as a flipper Magazine using issue, you need to upload it. So go down here to upload and click on upload. You have these three options. Either you can bring it in from your device, or you can do it from a Dropbox or Google Drive. So let's do it from our own device. And then you'll navigate to your folder where you have the PDF file available. Click on it, click on Open. And now you get this kind of a message within uploading file. And this is the progress indicator. As soon as it starts uploading, right now it's uploading. So there it is. Your magazine has been uploaded and currently to be registered. The meantime, you can fill in some details like title, description, title at Migros, type and good life. That's all you can fill in other details also as per your requirement, then you can given the description that you have this option of increase their chances of getting promoted by issue, whether editorial, promotional book or other. I'll click as editorial said Baghdad, I think I can leave this off. Now here you have the options of, I believe, ability to entire public or if you don't want them, you want it to be unlisted. Then you can click here on unlisted. If you want to have a handful off your people watching it than that, this is a good option. Otherwise you can leave it as public. Now here, you can allow downloads if we check it, downloads have been allowed. Or if you don't want people to download your publication, then you can leave it blank. You can also enable SEO. You can also go in for banner ads to remove them. But for this, you need to be a paid customer of theirs. So this is not applicable to us since we are going for a free option here on the left side and we will see you have further off into cell. Just to give you I typically come cell, you get this kind of option. You can make it available for purchase. And then you need to set up your payments, car payments, you can only set up provided you have a Stripe account. So go into these details in case you want to set up for sale. I am not going to be explaining this any further, so we will uncheck this. When it comes to sharing, you can share links. And if you click on it, are ready to publish it before you can share it. So here you have your publications live. Yeah, you can copy this link and you can share this link or you can view live on issue. So click here. Let's view live on issue. Now it you save this publication is still pending review and will be available. We will go back and let's close this. And we also grow going to close this. Here. We have the draft available to us. So we are going to have a look at this. Let's click on full screen. And here it is. Now we can browse this as you can see here. Okay, let's get out of full-screen mode. And here we are. We can drag this and go back to our first page. We can click on View Live, since we only publish it earlier. And here our maximum is live now. But since we are having a free account, you will find that there are a lot of advertisements all around. Now to get rid of advertisements, you will have to become a paid member of this site if you are sharing it with friends and family, I guess you can leave it as it is. And we can move around the same publication which we are seeing earlier. We saw it in draft form. Now we're seeing it in published form, but published form will have the exit this. So in this video I explained to you how you can publish your magazine to issue as a free publication. I also explained to you how to go in for a paid publication.
