Create Fun Patterns Easily for Sketching, Doodling and Lettering

1. Introduction: Would you like to create fun patterns easily for sketching, doodling and lettering. Hi, my name is Shelly Hits. I'm a lettering artist and I also love patterns. There's something so calming about drawing a pattern over and over again. Not only can you draw it, but you can also use it with your watercolor painting, which is Superfund as well. However, I know what it feels like to be a beginner, and it feel like, Okay, what do I even do? What patterns do I start with? Some people make it look so easy and effortless that I was wondering what's the difference for them? And I think the difference is they already have an internal memory of all these different patterns they can pull from at any time. So in this class, I'm gonna walk you through 88 different patterns that you can create. Teoh give you kind of an understanding and a foundation to start from. When you're creating your artwork, I break it down into three different sections. The first section will learn all about lines. There's so much you can do with a simple line. Then we'll go into shapes and we'll learn how to integrate all different kinds of shapes in all different types of ways and then finally will go into one of my favorites. Botanicals love botanicals. Not only are they a lot of fun, but it can also really make your doodles, your sketches and your lettering look a lot more professional. Once you have an understanding of these basic patterns that come from lines, shapes and botanicals, you can then create a myriad of different things. Using these basic patterns, I will teach you in this class whether or not you're using it for your own doodles, your planner, your sketchbook or for commission work. Thes patterns will be a great tool you can add into your artistic toolbox. It's super easy. Anyone can take this class. All you need is paper and a pen or pencil. You can use whatever supplies you have around home, grab your kids, come your friends and have some finest creating some patterns and learning some new ways to take your doodle sketches and lettering to a new level in the final video will pull it all together, and I'll show you how you can use these patterns in your doodles, sketches and lettering and you'll create a fun project you can use in many different ways. So if you want to add more patterns into your life, let's get started. 2. Lines: I'm gonna show you how to take simple lines and shapes to create beautiful patterns and things that you can use and with both watercolor and ink. So for this particular example, I'm just gonna be using a fine liner pen. I'm gonna be using this 0.5 Pantelic illustration. Pem But you can use any pen. You can use a bigger size if you like. The bigger size you can use markers, whatever you want. And let's just start with some basic lines. All you really need to know her your basic lines. So if you think about you have your straight, you have your curved, you have your wavy and you can dio like dashed lines do dotted lines. You can do all sorts of different things just with a basic line. So those are just some of the basic lines, and you can also do all sorts of patterns by just at changing up the dots a little bit. So if you make a small dot big dot small dot, you're still making a line. But it's a different type of pattern that you can create. That way you can also do all sorts of different patterns with ease to make different types of wines. And you can also just do real rough sketching lines. So those were just some basic basic lines. Now, what we're gonna dio is take those lines and we're gonna fill up these little boxes. So I have this as a pdf download. So let's go ahead and just start with the straight line. And this is obviously not gonna be exactly straight or exactly perfect because I'm not using a ruler, but I like the organic nature of it. So you're just gonna come up, do these straight lines And there you go. You can also do diagonal. So let's say we do so diagonal lines and mix it up a little bit using that basic straight line. Once you get the hang of just some of these basic lines shapes, botanicals, I think you're really gonna have fun creating your own sketches. All right, so now what you can dio is not only do the lines, but you can makes them, you could fill them in. So let's go ahead and do these up and down lines again, and you can go as slower as quick as you want and then what you can do is you can fill in thes lines, so I'm going to use my other pan. This is ABRIR Reese alcohol marker just to make it faster because it will fill it in faster . And this is actually the marker I used to create this template. Breweries has some amazing glittering that I love. They're so fun to use with your watercolor or your lettering. But you can see how just by filling in these sides and it is nice toe, have a variety of sizes of markers or pens because you can use them for different things. You could just see how, by filling the Seine, get a different look completely different. Look. All right, so that is one knowledge to a variation of the lines. But let's do the diagonal again just to mix it up. That's one of the things with art. You wanna have a variety for interest for the I. So I'm just kind of doing this right here in this class. So what you can do is now you can do like every other one and do marks like this. And so what you could do is every other line you can add different things in there. You could put curved lines. You can put wavy lines, you could put dots and you can do all sorts of things just filling these in. And I really encourage you to get creative and really just come up with your own designs that you want to do. All right. So I'm gonna go ahead and do the next couple and I'm gonna go quiet just so you can watch as I do that you e And OK, by now, you should kind of be getting an idea of all the different variations you can do. And this one here I did a herringbone pattern and these angles air a little bit different this first line than the rest of them. It's okay. No design has to be 100% perfect. I could do that a little bit differently now that I look at it, but it's not a big deal. I could shade some of these in. I could, you know, shade everyone other one of these in or these in. So there's all sorts of different variations you could even do even with just these here. So let's go into a few just wavy lines. So when I'm talking about wavy lines, let's say something like a scallop. Scallops are a lot of fun, and you can do a lot of different things with scallops. So that's just kind of your basic scallop. Here almost looks a little bit like a wave, but you can also do like a full on scallop like this, and then you can kind of stack them on top of each other. They almost start to look like fish scales. To me, I really like this design. It's kind of a neat design. It's very easy to do so. That's another version of the scallop, and also just do regular wavy lines. And you can do them different ways like I'm doing this like every other one. You could do them all the same. So here, like these two, are meeting here instead of it being the exact same. And, you know, you can put circles in here if you want. There's all sorts of different things you can dio. Once you have the basic shape, you can really get creative. Well, let's let's just do one more wavy. Let me just show you just By changing the height and the width, you're gonna have a completely different look with this wavy line. So you can just very a little bit and you're gonna have a completely different look. All right, so now let's get into the curly cues. So I just mean something like this. Most looks like a spring to do it straight across. Could do them just random. Or you can do, um, sue this one at a diagonal. But let's very the length of each one. So you're doing kind of like every other one going a little bit farther there, and then one other one that you can do is like almost like more of an official wave. And there you go. So you have some difference wavy and curly lines there. So let's get into some other variations. So now that we've gone through some just the basics now, we could do a straight line that kind of comes out. So all of the lines originating from this top love corner and it kind of creates an effect , almost like the sun shining through a window. I think this one's kind of cool, and you could do your lines as far apart as you want. The closer you get them, the more it's gonna look kind of like a shading effect there at the top. You see, it kind of looks like a little bit of a shading there, and you can come back and add other lines later if you realize you need to do that. But again, it doesn't have to be perfect. It's just you're just having fun with it. And then you could do something similar but actually starting from the center. So it's kind of get our bearings here and try to get him all four corners. I didn't get that one quite. There we go, and then what you're going to do is just bring out the lines from the center in a similar way. And like I said, the closer you put them together, the more it's gonna look like, almost like a shading effect. Hey, we're almost done here, coming out here for these last ones. Okay, so that's more just starting in the centre and going out right? So now what you can dio is let's go ahead and just try some straight lines that are just randomly placed in different plate places, and this is kind of a cool pattern. You can put these anywhere you want and any angle that you want. You just try to connect Hm in different ways. And I did not have any idea what I was going to do before I started this. I'm just doing it all freehand. Basically, you're just gonna keep adding in lines and it was connecting all of them eventually. So this just kind of has a need effect as well, and you can create an unlimited number of patterns with that. So something else you can dio kind of mixing it up a little bit more with the lines. Let's just do the straight lines and then or is on a lines and you're gonna make a checkerboard. And then what you can do is with this checkerboard. There's unlimited number of ideas because what you could do is you can fill in all of these different boxes. You know, every other one was something different. And so let's say you wanted to do a chucker war. Let's do another one here and let's say you want to fill in every other one, so I'll just take my other marker just because for time's sake and just is easier to fill it in, fill in like every other one. And there you have a exact like checkerboard, and you can do this in any color. If you have different colors and what you'll do is, you'll just continue the pattern. This way. You can also put like dots in each one. You can put little lines in each box. You can put the curly cues you can put the scallops. I mean, the sky's the limit, Really. I mean, once you get some of these basic shapes down, you'll just find your creativity really increasing. And so I just recommend having the sheet close by so that you can refer to it. And I do recommend filling out one yourself, not just watching me do it and downloading the the the one that I've given you. But actually to do it like get yourself used to doing some of these designs. And then I think what I find is as I do it, I can really tell which designs I like better and which ones Maybe not so much so That's something to make note off. So you can take the dotted lines and you can create a whole boxful of those the dashed and dotted lines. You could make thes dashes different lengths and create different patterns with those lengths so you could do long, short, long short and create different patterns with those that's really fun and just do like the dot uh, let's say we do a square, not, uh, dot so you can do anything. I mean, there's really no limits to what you can dio. You just have to know some of these basic things and then just practice, you know, with no agenda, just practicing and trying different things. I kind of got off a little bit on my pattern on that one. It's OK, no problem. Probably because I was talking. But it really is okay. You can see I just did this. You know, the squares in different places, and that was the pattern for that. So something else you can do with the scallops is like do a double line here. So instead, just the single line you could do like a double little line, and then inside that line, this line here, you could even do patterns If you want, you could do dash lines. You could do dots just two regular lines. Or you could just leave it like this. Or, if you're coloring if you're using color can actually fill in those lines with a different color. And so that could be a fun way. And with any shape, really, you can just start creating like a double shape effect, and that will really make your shapes look even more interesting. OK, so there we go. We've already finished four rows. Now let's go ahead on to some basic shapes. 3. Shapes: Now, with your basic shapes, we're just going to be doing things like a circle. So let's say with circles, you could do different patterns this way. That's they're all kind of about the same size can also make some different sizes seeking of little ones, tiny ones, big ones and just vary. The sizes can also do it where you create these circles. And then you fill in the background with your pen again, for time's sake, I'm gonna use my other marker so that it doesn't take me forever, But you can use the same pan and that works. Justus. Well, you're basically just gonna be filling in the background, and this is a really great little tip for any of the patterns that you're doing with the shapes is a simple way to really make it look like it stands out is to just fill in the background with another color, probably like a dark color, and then it's going to really stand out for you. All right, so that wasn't easy way just to make it look a lot different, but really look like a knee effect with just a simple circle. So something else you can do is you can do the dashed circle and use that same dash line, but with circles, right? So another basic shape is your square, and you could basically two random squares. You can overlap some if you want. I think it looks cool to have some of them overlapping. You don't want everything to look exactly the same, so you want to kind of vary it up a little bit. You can even fill in this little part where it's overlapping. And again you can do the same thing with the squares, where you can vary the shapes to do big ones and little ones just do different angles can also fill in the background like we did before. You can also do the dashed. Something else you can do is into triangles, so triangles we can let's say we connect. Hm. Then you can connect them at the top, and you have kind of a cool shape there, so basically you can also do it. Just making two lines and then making your triangles inside. The lines can also do just random triangles and just connect Um, throughout. You could do different sizes, different shapes and just kind of randomly connected. This is really kind of fun just to do as on activity just because you don't have to really think about it. You're just connecting lines. And so this is a great one to do if you don't really wanna have to think too hard. But really try toe. See how you can change up the different shapes of the triangles as you're doing it and, you know, connect him up. So that's another fun thing to do with triangles. Something else you could do are like shapes inside of shapes. Let's try first. Like if you start with the curlicue and you just keep going out almost like a circle, you just keep going out and out and out. I didn't start mine. Exactly. Center So gonna run out of space here. But you can just do something like that. You can feel it all up, or you could just do the circle and just leave the outside the way it is. You can do that same similar thing with a square. Just make almost like a little maze. Think of like when I used to do when I was younger and a suicide corn mazes, and then you could do the same thing with the triangle. So you're just leaving an open spot. You're coming out a little bit further and coming down. You can also do shapes and shapes like the circle, and then do some lines inside the circle. And again, you could do any of the patterns we've already talked about inside of these. So this is a square, and then we could do a square and just keep building up squares on top of each other. This is kind of a fun one to do. You can do like a circle and then do scallops inside the circle. So this is a square, and we could just do a simple, like teardrop coming out. And you can do these however you want may come, come from all different directions. Fill it up that way. You could do more of like a teardrop, and then you could do curved lines inside of it. Let's just say we want to do a couple more and again. You can put any sort of designs or patterns inside that teardrop as well. Another one. That's kind of fun. I really like to do. I've done this with watercolor before. It's just too random lines inside of circle, and you can do as many as you want. You can see what you think looks best, and you don't have to even have the lines go the whole way through. They could just connect different things, but that was kind of a fun one. Hey, so at some a couple other shapes you can do, you can do stars again, varying their sizes. It's going to give some interest. Could do big ones, small ones. Something I like to do with the star is I like to make a shooting star so can make a star and then basically, just bring some lines out from it. And you have a shooting star and also to shapes like clouds. You could make your cloud more with a flat bottom, or you can make it curvy all the way around. Either way works. If you like the flat bottom, you can even bring it down and do some lines in there just for some extra interest. You could do like a son and then just do triangles for the shapes coming off. This guy's the limit, really, I mean, you could do so so much. So let's look. We can also do shapes like plus signs ass tricks do a little they like thus and do it upside down. So those are some other little things that you can add in. And those are things that you can even add in like when you're doing some of these patterns and you wanna put something in between thes So there's or other ideas. So something is just kind off. Interesting is how this curvy line was some wild lines through it. And then you could put little dots at the end of the lines and you could have these going any different way that you want. Let's do X is and then let's say we want a fillings and they almost look like diamonds. Now make these look like diamonds. You could connect them or like I did right here. You just may come separate. Okay, so something else you can do is but lines here and then scallops on top. You could put dots and the scallops, and you can put more lines in the bottom so you can see how you can start to combine a lot of these different techniques for more advanced sketching, there's no wrong right or wrong way. It's just your way. That's one thing I love about. This is you get toe, do what you want to dio. It's do some jagged lines here, and then what you can do is, let's say you put some lines here and you go like different directions each way Again. There's probably a dozen different variations of each one of these that you could dio again . We can put the line here. Then we can put the jagged line on top. Could do some krilic use in between. Do some dots here. You can also do some bigger ones. Make it almost look like more like mountains. And then you could do some curvy lines. Make it more look like an ocean, and then you could do some jagged lines on these to really make it look like snow capped mountains. So there's so much that you can dio. It really is fun. You can take lines and curve them around. Do different variations of that say, want to do some arrows in here? An arrow is an easy thing to add in, and there's so many different variations you can do with the arrows, so that looks pretty cool. Another shape that you could do that's just kind of fun is a feather. He could do like something like this, and then have, like, different parts of the feather, come out here like that. You can also do it where it's more like one big piece, and then you have some. Here's coming off, but again you have the thing coming down. So that's feathers. And then you can do feathers, and you could do all kinds of patterns inside the feathers. Do something where we do scallops, and then we do dots inside the scallops. And then we'd have little lines at different lengths. Coming off of them almost looks like eyelashes. All right, we're winding down on this one and then we'll do some booty. Nichols. Let's do another wave. And this time that's kind of outline it. Then we could use thes lines that we have up here and just kinda make it almost look like water coming off of their okay. I hope you're starting to get the idea 4. Botanicals: So the last one we want to do is some botanicals and botanicals air so fun. I love them. I love going to botanical gardens to get inspiration, and so we're gonna finish up our grid with some botanicals. Some really super easy flowers, leaves, finds cactus. Let's go ahead and look at the different varieties that we can do. So let's just do a really simple flower, a circle, and then it's almost like a scallop around. And then, if you want, you can add just a little one of those little lines that it's kind of quick and easy. And there you have that flower. If you want to add a system, you can always add a stem to it, and you can add a leaf to it as well. You don't have to. You could just do ah, repeating pattern with that flower shapes. Let's look at another flower shape were and do something similar except a smaller center and longer pedals. So you see, just by alternating with the length and width, you can really get a different look, and the nice thing about flowers is none of them are exactly perfect, so we don't have to worry about perfection. Yea, right. One of my favorite ones to do is just kind of, Ah, just a messy center there. And then you come around, do a little dip in the middle, and I like to do about four of those one, like north, south, east and west. And then what I tend to do is come back in and add like pedals, that air hiding behind. So you're going to see there's some pedals here. Add those in my add another one there, and then you can kind of do dots in here You can fill it completely in, and then those lines that are just real fast and easy. I do him on the inside, but then also along the edges to and in weeks gives just a really nice look to it. So that's an easy flower that you can add. Another one is just doing a circle in the center and then coming out to a point on the pedals. And if you want, you can put the one's in as anchors and then come back. That's one way to kind of have it be more balanced, but you don't have to do that, and that's a really easy one again. You can put the little crease in the center if you want. Can add dots in here if you want. Another really easy one is just just using circles and seriously just putting in like this . One looks more geometric ish because you're using these exact circles, and basically then, if you wanted to, you could put shapes inside of those. You fill this and if you want, let's say we just wanted to do lines inside of each of these pedals. You can do anything you want, and the thing is, you can make this look totally different, depending on the size of those circles you make. So if you wanted to make the circles bigger or longer or thinner, it would make it look different. Another one just with circles. That's kind of fun is, well, this one's like a You do the little wavy thing here and then have different pedals coming off like this. You could just add little circles at the end of those pedals. Again, this is just more whimsical, and then something similar to that. Have a center, another center, then a bigger one. Then you could do lines here and then just variety of lengths, so some of them are longer. Some of them are shorter for pedals, then another kind of geometric one is almost making it look more boxy. So where it comes together at the center, I make it a little bit more narrow. So it's not a complete box. It's a little bit more narrow where it comes in again, that one kind of hides behind. And you could do these the lines. Or you could just keep it more geometric and do just regular lines in there. So another one is just a center here, and then we're going to come out and kind of do that. It's kind of like this one, but with thinner pedals, it was just thinner and again. You can fill these in a few one. I'm just gonna add a little bit of ah, line here at the end. Hope you're having fun. I love oh, tentacles. They're so fun. It's another one you can do is a small center and just come out to a point. And again, if you want to kind of get a reference point, this one, you can put in Ah, lot of leaves if you want, or you can leave it kind of the way it is, but you can add leaves behind just by doing like, a little half. Um was like a little triangle. But you're not doing the base of the triangle and you go. But as many of these energy one until it looks right to you, can also do something similar, but with less leaves, and you're coming down to a point with a very small center. And then for this one, I kind of like doing all the lines through the pedals. And again, your lines don't have to be perfect. That's the nice thing about especially flowers. They're not meant to be perfect. Another fun one going to do like a little dip here and then to kind of show the death behind. Come over here and kind of do another little dip. And then you can put a stem one there if you want and just have some lines coming up. That's a role fund one as well. Here's a little one could dio, and then you just have and a couple of things coming up. So you dio repeating patterns of these. Or you could do this in, you know, just intermix it with your other flowers that you're doing some kind of looks like a rose again. You start with that messy middle, and then you just kind of do curvy lines around, and you just connect them to each other. You just keep going around as many times as you feel looks right. So whenever you want to stop, you can say, I want to stop here. And if you want to kind of fill in that middle, you can. And then what I like to do is little lines, shrill, short little ones. At the base of these leaves are these pedals. You've seen late sane leaves. All right, so that's a fun one as well. How fun, Right? Another one that's fun to do is just do small little scallops and just keep coming around. So this is the center will fill that in so we can kind of see where the center is and just keep going around the mountain here until again, until you feel like it is done. Care Do new one more flour. You can just kind of put a little base here and then have different petals coming up different sizes. And you have your stomach come down here. There you go. All right. So the last thing we're gonna do is we're gonna do some leaves and possibly cacs a couple CAC tire vines if we have space. So let's go ahead and do some leaves. You have your basic leave here we come like that. You can also do that same leaf and then just have the lines inside of it. Can also do a leaf like that, but just have jagged edges. You can do your jagged edges any way you want and then have some lines there if you want. And also dio just a leaf that's more of a teardrop like that. Do like a three leaf clover here. I kind of messed that up. But you know what? When you're doing this, you don't have anything any messing up because you can just add lines and patterns. And there we go see fixed. It can also do just something like this. We have a bunch of little pieces coming off the sides and then you have those circles on the end and also do longer Ones like these air more teardrop and have them kind of come side by side that teardrop look. And you can also do a longer one that's more pointy. And maybe it's not so side by side. Maybe it iss maybe it's not OK, so let's do some vines for the vines. What you can dio is you can just do this curlicue here like that, and what you can do then is you can add things onto the vine. So let's say we wanted to just do something like this and have it have lines in the center . Or let's say we want to do this and then we have little leaves or flowers coming off the top of here so you could do little flowers. Could just do little lease, and you can do all sorts of things with those vines. Another fund vine is to just do kind of that first flower that we did just put it kind of like on the end there. Of that fine can also do, um, where they kind of come out and around and they have curly cues, just different places. So there's all sorts of things you can do with the vines. Then let's do a couple cactus toe. Finish up. There are so many different fund cactus succulents. Just make a little pot here. You can decorate the pot if you want. Andi just gonna go like that. And then we're just gonna come off the edge here and then do a couple in the center for that look. See how simple and easy that ISS And then for our final one, just do one like this. And then let's do these stacking on top of each other and kind of curved lines. And then you're just gonna do Thies to finish it out around the edges. All right. We did it. Awesome. I'm so proud of you for hanging in there with me. Look at all of these lines, shapes and even some botanicals that we have now in our arsenal to use. However we want in our designs in our art pieces, even if we're just doodling or sketching for fun I'm so excited for you. Let's go ahead and continue this in the next video 5. Putting it All Together: So now that we have all of our shapes and we've practiced them, let's go ahead and put it all together. So how will you use these shapes and botanicals and the things that we have learned in this class? There are so many ways you can use these. You can use some of them just to add extras to your lettering, like the different flowers and things I love, adding those into my backgrounds. So let me show you a few examples of coloring pages I've created. This was a really, really simple one that I created in my class. Easy coloring book designs. And you can see I just use simple folk calligraphy and then just some simple circles of different sizes. But it's really simple, but it's it's really cool. I mean, this is a coloring page that I could give away. Now I could add patterns into each of these circles to make it even Ah, little more complex, which would be fun. Here is another design that I did, and this was for my book Broken Kranz still color and you can see over here on the left hand side. I added, Ah bunch of just curvy lines and then repeating patterns. So this is something else you can do? You can also see in the words still, I added patterns. I just added simple circles in there. And so that is another example, this coloring book page. I simply did a heart. And then I did a bunch of geometric patterns in there, and it was just a fun design that I had in my mind that I wanted to do in this coloring book page. I had little stars, and then in each star, I did a different pattern. So again you can see how the different patterns could be used in a very simple but effective way. So something else you could do is you could do block letters. Let's say I just do the word be. I do have a block lettering class. If you're interested in that class, just say I just do the word be. And then basically, Aiken do patterns inside those letters. So let's say I just do some different lines coming down from different angles, say with ee, just do these little curlicues well spirals. You could basically do any patterns that you want inside of block letters could also Dufaux calligraphy. I have a class on faux calligraphy as well. Let's say we're just gonna do print letters here. I could odd thickness to these letters here and then in the thickness, instead of filling it in like a normally would with faux calligraphy. I can put patterns in here going to do anything that you want anything from that sheet. You can just look back to that sheet and see what else you might want to do, and it gives you just a lot of options. We'll just do some scallops here, so that's really a simple way to add some patterns to your lettering. You can also add botanicals, so I have my flower power font, and basically you could just add a flower in the midst of your letter. You could also add like little lease and do a little center. But just add a little flour in the midst of your letter, and that is a really fun thing to do. Can also add flourishes around your letters. So, like this ivy that we learned could do that around the be and could thicken that had some stripes in here to the one that we learned here, where you just coming around then up. So you can even add some of these flourishes around your letters and just add to your design That way, there's so many ways that you can use these patterns. Let me just show you one other simple way. This isn't my prayer journal, and so you can use this as a way to meditate or to calm down. If you're stressed, if you're worried, if you just want to be able to focus in prayer, this is a great way. And one of the things I like to do is I like to think about a letter. So if I'm praying for someone and let's say their first name starts with a kind of see, I wrote an A on here and then it breaks my paper into different sections, then what I can do is do different patterns in all the different sections, and that way it's just a way for me to do something while I'm praying for that person, and it can be very powerful. This is also a great stress reliever because as you're sitting down and doing these patterns, it is just such a relaxing way to calm your mind, to give it something else to do and to really just have a way to unwind from your day. I have a friend, Betsy, and she told me she almost exclusively uses this type of technique when she's praying for friends and family helps keep our focus, and it's just just a beautiful outcome and a way to express her artistic side at the same time. Here's another example of something that I did, and what I did is I just took pencil and I put my lines on here of how it was going to break up the sections. And then each section has a different pattern, and so it just gives you a way to break up the paper and something that you can do in any spare moment of time while you're meditating while you're praying while you're praying for others and it can be such a powerful thing, and what you can dio is, you can just have this worksheet next to you, and you can use this as ideas as you're filling in your page. But the sky is really the limit. Once you know your basic shapes, you can make an unending amount of different shapes and patterns that you can use to create really fun are pieces. 6. Class Project: your project for this class is to post something you created. You can either post the grid that you filled in as we went through the class. Or I would love to see some of your original artwork, whether it be lettering, coloring book pages or even sketchbook pages where you use patterns and just simply post a picture in the your project section of this class. 7. Next Steps: There you have it. We've covered 88 different patterns in three sections, lines, shapes and botanicals. Have you had a ton of fun and that you're able to use this new skill just to relax with your own doodling to use in your own doodling or in your sketchbook or even in commissioned pieces? Patterns are also great for stress relief. So if you're having a rough day, just get out a piece of paper and start writing some patterns. It's amazing how it can calm you down and how enjoyable it is to simply create patterns can also use these patterns to create coloring book pages and more. In fact, I have an entire class on easy coloring book design. If you would like to use these patterns in a coloring book page. And, of course I have a lot of lettering classes. So if you're interested, I recommend starting with my focal a Griffey class and then my brush lettering for beginners class.
