1. Intro and Project: Hey, and welcome back to another training on using Can va For entrepreneurs today, we're learning how to create our own Facebook ad with can va Facebook ads are a very important part for a lot of businesses. People are transitioning from using Google to Facebook ads because you can retarget people who have gone to your site with a Facebook ad. I know that sounds pretty scary, but literally. If I go to your website and I don't buy your product, you can actually send me a Facebook ad using a pixel code so that I in targeted and I'm getting ads for your site that make me want to go back and buy your product. That's how crazy Facebook ads are, and it's important to have ads that look nice that are designed professionally and are highly clickable. So that's what we're going to be learning. How to do with this course in Canada dot com will be using the free templates graphics and customize it with our own photos and text to make a really high quality Facebook at, as always, while you follow along with the lessons, we want you to be creating your own Facebook ad on. By the very end of this training, you'll have an ad to either use on Facebook or just share with us so that we can give you some critique and praise. Thanks so much, and we'll dive right in to creating your own Facebook ads with Canada dot com.
2. Examples of Facebook Ad Graphics: The first thing you want to do before going out and trying to design your own Facebook ad is to look and see what other companies are doing. Other companies have probably have bigger marketing teams and bigger ad budgets, and they are doing ads and using creating ads that actually work and make money. It's really hard for someone that small and just doing Facebook ads for their own small one person business to actually be profitable. So you want to make sure that the design of your odd doesn't actually detract from it and make it less convertible. So looking at other people's ads for inspiration is always a good idea. Here are a few ads that I saw today that I thought looked pretty good, and they will be inspiration for the ad that I'm going to be creating in this camera project. Let's go through them and just talk about what I like about them. So this top one, it's got a nice, clean image. It's not very busy. You have a clear text right here that says what the ad is for Build aux portfolio in eight weeks. So you actually user design, so people who see this will know exactly what this is. The photo relates to what the ad is about, so that's good. So it could be eye catching for someone already the only problem with these ads and you see , just from the photos I'm I took screenshots of right here that it's a lot of people just on the computer. And so I like I would like to try to create an ad that's different. And of course, it lends itself to these ads thes companies, air selling products that have to deal with being on the computer. But there's so many of those types, adds out. And maybe it's just what I search around what ads are being sent to me. You might see ads for other things with cute cats and dogs, but I'm not getting those ads myself here on this ad. And these top two you see that they have the logo of the company up here that is actually sending the ad. So here on this lead pages one, what's nice about this one is they're using a photo, but they're also look like they edited it a little bit over here, so they kind of washed it out so that this text is more clear. This image probably did go all the way to the left and would include the edge of this desk and whatever is going on right here. But they kind of washed it out over here to make this text stand out down here. This is just a fun ad. So this is more of a custom design photo or graphic you got. This is from Wu Commerce, which is a plug in for building websites. And they have this hashtag So that's all their ad basically was, has this hashtag on there and it has their little logo right here, too. What happens with all these ads, though, is when you click on it, it takes you to a page where they want you to. So even if the text doesn't exactly explain what's going on in the image, that's not necessarily a bad thing. And you see here on the right, that's exactly what's going on. I don't even remember what this odd was. Four. But I'm guessing it has to do with something about being productive, something doing with being on the computer. I actually do remember it was something with final cut Pro because they have final cut Pro X, the video editing software up right here on this computer. And they have this nice little quote here on this image. I don't know if this was actually an image with that quote in in it that photo, or if they added that in postproduction. One thing you'll notice to with these images is that the Texas relatively small compared to the rest of the ad, Facebook actually has a 20% or 22 80 ratio, so your text can't cover more than 20% of the image. That's why you can't just put a big text right across your ad. It has to be relatively small and actually a lot of people and a lot of ads that I've seen just use images themselves. And then you have the actual text of the ad that appears below the ad that gets people engaged or tells them and explains exactly what the ad is all about. Let's hop over to camera, and we'll start designing our own Facebook ad
3. Design a Facebook Ad in Canva: to create a Facebook ad using Campbell will use one of their templates. So just click this more button on the home page of Canada. Then we're going to scroll down to the bottom and there's an adds option. We're just going to choose Facebook ad. You can see they have other ads for your blog's if you want. So a great wide subside scraper. Add. This is great for sidebars in your website. We're gonna choose face, but come up with a lot of different layouts. And the cool thing about it is that they already have the text relatively small. Some of these I don't know if that looks like more than 20% of this graphic is covered by tech, so I'd be careful about using that one. So I've already chosen one that I like to create. So I'm going to use this graphic right here. I'm actually gonna make this text a little bit smaller because again, I think that takes up more than 20% of the image. So let's first find our background image, and I'm going to be creating an ad for actually a video. This will be the very first video that we post for the into the green website and brand that we have. So I have this image that I shot on a recent camping trip just going to drag it right here , and it's going to replace that background image with this photo that I chose. You'll notice, though that looks really weird, is not what it should be. And that's because that image that they were using in the template has a filter on it. So to change the filter with this photo selected, just click it. If you insulate it, click filter, and then I'm just going to choose normal. If you want to add a filter, you can. They've got lots of cool filters, similar to what you would find on your face but your instagram app. You can also edit your photos right in Canada as well, So if you want the brightness to be making a little bit darker, you can add contrast, and you can go see your advanced options. If you want to play with the saturation yourself, the tent blur. If we wanted to be blurry, which is kind of cool for some photos and for some ads or graphics that's kind of cool as well, adding an vignette. X process makes it have some cool, funky colors. Lots of cool options here. But I'm not going to edit this photo because I like what it looks like. I actually edited it myself already. Now I'm just going to change this tax. So I'm just going to change this top text by selecting at all. And I'll say, Watch our new video and in this bottom will be camping San Gorgo Neo Campground. So that's what the video is about. Now I have to change this text, make it a little bit smaller and try to make it stand out from the background, because right now it's kind of just blending in. So first I'm going to make it quite small adjust so that we're not breaking the 20% rule for text being in a Facebook odd, and then we'll just see what this looks like. I like the font that they're using railway. It's a really nice clean font. Something like that might look good. Now I'm going to add a little black background that makes this text pop up, pop out a little bit more, So go to elements shapes, and then I'm just grand choose this square shape and drag it onto my composition. Then what I can do is click this back button to put it behind the text. I don't want to go too far or it will be go behind the image. Then I'm just going to make it a little bit smaller. For now, I'm just going to edit this. Well, I'm gonna move all this stuff around in a second, but I just want to see what it looks like. I don't like how it's just black. It's like a little bit too black. What I'm gonna do is lower the transparency so that we can see part of the image behind. So just click your shape, drop down this arrow click transparency, drop it down. Something right around 70 might look good. This is looking pretty cool, But what I don't like is that it covering up this image so you don't really see what's going on? So what I'm going to do is just move everything and I could just kind of select everything and move it down. When I do that, it also selects the background image. So I'm just going to have to select just the background and move it back up, and I'm going to make all of this smaller, so I'm just going to first position. That's black rectangle where I want it. And while I'm moving this around, you'll notice that there's these little dotted purple lines that appear and they appear as I go through the center of this image to align with the center of the ad. So I'm going to make sure that I'm seeing that line that goes all the way from top to bottom. That means I'm in the very center of this ad. Then I'm going to take each of these individual text layers and move them down and you'll see that purple line pop up. When I'm in the center of this shape, this one as well, the bottom. Then with all these, I'm just going to bring these in just like so. Try to make them a line so that they're all square and you can see as I move them around, you get these purple lines that allow me to know if it's perpendicular or parallel to these other shapes that I have. So they're looking pretty good. I'm gonna move this text a little bit together, make sure that it's all centered, and that's looking pretty good. What you can't do in for Facebook ads is at a little play button. So while it would be cool for an ad for a video that I want people to watch to have a little play button that is eye catching and gets people clicking on this ad, I can't do that in for Facebook ads. It's against the rules. So with all of these graphics that I'm creating in camera, I always like to zoom out to see what it would look like in an actual Facebook post. And about at right now, when I'm looking at it on my screen, 25% is about how big it will look, and I can still see this. The watch Our new video is really clear. The camping Sangoro go neo is a little bit unclear. So what I'm gonna do is actually make that text a little bit bigger by just getting rid of this campground and then the campground text, because that's kind of I already say camping. So I don't need to have campground again and just make this a little bit bigger. 18 size font That looks a lot better, and I can see it more clearly. So everything in this photo and in this odd Haas to do with what I'm promoting. That's another rule with Facebook ads, everything your image or text, everything has to directly relate to whatever you're pro meat promoting. I couldn't be promoting a Swiffer floor Clint cleaning mop with this photo, because that wouldn't make sense. So I couldn't just trick people into clicking on this odd because they think they're going to watch a cool video about camping and sang Gorgonio. But then it takes them to a swifter page where it's promoting buying a new Swiffer products . Facebook does look at all the ads and you have to be approved by their team before it goes live. Now we finished the design. Next we just have to download it
4. Export a Facebook Ad Graphic: to download this image so that you can upload it and post it online as an ad. Just click this download button. You can choose image for jape for Web or image. High quality. I just choose Image for Web J. Peg Because this is a smaller file size, it's going to still be great. Quality is just going to be a little bit smaller so that it's faster to upload and faster for people to load when they are actually seeing your ad on online. So if you have a photo that's really, really big, big, foul size will take a little bit longer than something that is more compressed like a J. Peg. So I'll call this into the green video ad, too. Already did one for practice, and then I will just check this out and there you have it. That's our ad. Looks pretty awesome. I'm definitely going to be using this to promote our new video when it comes out. Thanks for watching, and we'll see you in the next lesson
5. Assignment & Wrap Up: Hey, Phil, back here in my office, I hope you really have enjoyed this training on creating Facebook ads by now. Hopefully, you get the gist of what it takes to create a nice looking graphic. A nice looking ad for Facebook. Remember that you can only use text that fills up 20% or less of your ad, so it's time to take action. And to do that, create your own Facebook ad. You don't necessarily have to use it for a Facebook ad right now, but potentially you want to in the future. Post the image of that. Add to the course so that I can check it out. The rest of the students can check it out, and we'll give you some feedback or praise or whatever we think about it when you post it. If you have any questions, let us know. And really, if there's any way that I can improve this course, let me know if there's other projects that I could add to it. Let me know. Thanks so much and will soon another training
