1. Creativepreneur Intro: Hey there, welcome to the class, become a creative printer. In this class, we'll explore how to find an online business idea based on your creative talents. I'm Kerry sayers. I'm an online entrepreneur and author and an instructor, and I help creatives to develop their online business ideas. So what exactly is a creative manure? For me, a creative manure is someone who combines their creative talents with a burning desire to create an online business and abundant online business. And then of course, takes action. Now without that burning desire to get online business or a side hustle up and running. It's going to be really hard to stay motivated to complete all the tasks that are necessary to launch your business. So before you start any kind of business, you need to understand your y. Now, understanding your y, what does that mean exactly? Why do you want to start a business in the first place? Okay? What was your motivation? What are your goals and what results do you hope to achieve? You see what you hope to get out of your business is what fuels your desire, ok? It's what will push you to keep going. If and when you hit a few bumps in the road, It's important for you to know your why, because once you know your why, then it's time to take action. You can have this overwhelming desire to start an online business. But if you don't act on that desire, then your business idea will remain just a dream. That's it. Nothing more. If you're listening to this class, I assume you already have the desire to start a successful business. Now, if coming up with business ideas is where you fall short, this class will help. So the first thing we're gonna do in this class is that I'll walk you through how to examine your skills. So we'll explore the natural abilities you already possess. Dig into those skills that maybe you've learned from previous jobs are self-taught skills and things like that. And after we examine your skills, will get into analyzing your strengths, will take a closer look at those things that you're really good at doing. The things you're really passionate about, and even those things that other people like your coworkers, family, or friends believe that you're good at doing. And after analyzing your strengths will explore your interests. We'll dig deeper into figuring out the things that you really like to do and those things that come easily to you. Even if you don't consider yourself an expert at doing those things, we'll explore what things you have this strong desire to learn more about as well. By the end of this course, you'll have a list of your skills, your strengths, and your interests, aka your creative talents that can potentially be crafted into a business idea. You'll also leave this class with a better understanding of the types of online businesses that you can develop from your creative gifts. If you find yourself worrying that maybe you don't have any creative talents. I want you to know this. Everyone. Yes, everyone has creative gifts that they can share with the world. You are no exception. Ok. It's just that you're likely overlooking your gifts and not giving yourself enough credit for what you already know. Before we dig deeper into exploring your skills, strengthen interests. We need to talk about mindset, okay? Having a success mindset, in my opinion, is essential to creating a sustainable business. A negative mindset will end up crushing your business dreams and keeping you from sharing those creative towns and creative gifts with the world. So in the next lesson, we'll discuss how to stop self sabotaging and how to keep your limiting thoughts in check. 2. Overcoming Limiting Thoughts: In the previous lesson, we discussed what it means to be a creative painter. In this lesson, let's talk about the limiting thoughts and beliefs that threatened to sabotage your business success before you even get the chance to start. Let's begin with one of my favorite quotes on creativity by Paulo Coelho. He's the famous author of the book the alchemists. This quote says, everybody has creative potential. And from the moment you can express this creative potential, you can start changing the world. So for me, this quote is so extremely powerful and I 100% believe in these words, we all have this creative potential and it's right there inside of us. But unfortunately, it's really easy for this creative potential to get stifled by the limiting thoughts and the false narratives that we allow ourselves to believe. So in case you're not familiar with what limiting thoughts or limiting beliefs are. These terms refer to the opinion that we have of ourselves and of the world. And it basically like it constrains us and it keeps us from hitting our full potential. So the crazy thing about these limiting thoughts is that we adopt most of these as children. And then even as we age and become wiser, we tend to hold onto these limiting beliefs and we see them as absolute truth. Crazy, right? So of course, these limiting beliefs have a negative impact on our lives because they stop us from taking chances and they keep us from trying new opportunities. They really limit growth. So it might be helpful just to talk about some of those more common limiting thoughts and beliefs. At least the ones that I hear from other people in this creative painters and people that I work with. Just kinda discussing some of those common limiting beliefs. And then I'll talk about a couple of ideas on how to overcome these types of thoughts. Okay, so limiting thought number one, that I'm too young to start an online business or to start any kind of business. So with this limiting thought, you end up getting stuck on this idea that you have to wait until you have more experience under your belt to run a business. Okay? That is false. Okay, it's a limiting thought that is false. Limiting thought number two, I'm too old to start a business. All right. You believe that somehow you miss the boat, using your window of opportunity is closed and that if you were going to be successful at any kind of business, you should have already started by now. Again, false fossil emitting. Thought number three, limiting, but number three, I'm not creative enough to start a business. This limiting belief is often amplified by playing the comparison game. So you may find yourself comparing, comparing yourself to someone else who you admire. And you just don't see how you could possibly ever be as good or as clever as that person when it comes to business. Alright, so again, false, but it holds us back. Limiting thought number four, I'm just not smart enough to run a business. All right. You think that because maybe you didn't go to some fancy college, are some Ivy League business school that you're not knowledgeable enough to run a business. These are just four of the most common limiting beliefs that I feel like I frequently hear. There are so many more of these bad narratives that people face in their lives. And at the end of the day, you have to find a way to overcome these limiting beliefs, okay? We all have them. It's a very natural thing, but you have to, number one, acknowledging them and become aware of them and then find a way to overcome them and to create that success mindset. Okay, that's success mindset is what will help to sustain you. So to help you do this, I want to discuss a couple of reasons that you, you know, you can think about on why you can actually, despite all these limiting beliefs and despite those, those negative thoughts, why you can't actually succeed at creating an online business despite everything. So let's walk through three of those reasons. So the first reason is that everyone has unique and valid experiences to share, okay? So when you find yourself thinking that you're not going to be able to be successful at this. This is the first thing I want you to remind yourself. Everyone has unique and valid experiences to share, okay, no two people's journeys are alike. As an example, you can have two entrepreneurs, okay, in the sale, right? In the exact same, Nice same business idea, maybe even some target audiences, similar programs and offerings. But the experiences and the stories that they bring to the table will be unique to them. Okay, that will be unique to them. You can build a brand around your unique personal story, okay, it's your story. Your story is what makes you different from the next person. Okay, let me give the example of my twin sons. So they're both men raised in the same household, same parents, same rules, the same educational opportunities. And yet, when you listen to them, speak and tell stories, it's very obvious how different their personalities are and that the way they see the world and experience life is very different from each other. So as you're thinking about your business ideas, remember that you are unique and you have valuable experiences that the world needs to know about. All right, let's move on and talk about Reason number two. So again, when you're doubting yourself and you haven't, he's limiting thoughts. Remember this. You do not have to be an expert to start up business. Okay? That's absolutely a misconception that you have to be an expert or a guru at something before you can make a business out of it. The truth is that you only need to be one step ahead of the person you're helping in order to make a difference, okay, when it comes to an online business, there are many instances where you may be teaching someone what you've learned in real time. You try something and then you share your experience with your audience. Okay, but the, the bad or the ugly. And it gives you a good example of this. You can, if you look at our, if you follow any personal finance bloggers, OK, so there's some good examples here. So many times you'll see that these personal finance bloggers there sharing their own personal journey. Eliminating debt and building more wealth. So most of them are not finance experts. They're just normal people who started an online business to share their wins and their struggles as they create a better financial situation for themselves. Another example, just for me personally, that I've self-published a few books and journals over the last couple of years. And I am by no means am I like a career novelists are a publishing expert or anything, but I've used my experiences and what I've learned to help others to write and publish their own books. So I get old friends from college all the time who messaged me and need help with going through those steps to publish their own books. So I was just a couple of steps ahead in terms of the goal that these people wanted to achieve. And I used what I knew to help them to reach their goal. So again, if you're thinking about what business idea you want to pursue, remember, you only need to be one step ahead of the person you plan to help. Alright? Last reason. Again, when you're, when you're starting to doubt yourself, I want you to remember these three reasons, okay? This third reason is that people want to learn from someone who is relatable. So think about it. There are millionaires maybe that you look up to in the business world, you know, depending on what your interests are, you probably have some, you know, some type of millionaire that may be your, you look up to in terms of what they've accomplished as a business goals. And maybe you've read their books or you follow their business journey online and maybe you've even gone so far as to go to see them at an in-person event. But those millionaires in their stories can kinda seem a little unreliable. You know, if we're being honest with ourselves, that perceived gap between you and them is really large. And sometimes to Lars to inspire you to actually take real action. Now, on the other hand, let's say you're an elementary school teacher who's thinking of creating a graphic design side hustle. So one day you come across an online graphic design business classes being taught by, as a former elementary school teacher. Ok, what are the chances that you might actually take steps to learn more about this person in their business. This former teacher turn graphic designers story is more relatable to you on a personal level because you have something in common with them. Okay, you're teaching background and your love for graphic design. So it's those commonalities that make you feel more connected with this business owner. Now eventually, if you enjoy their content and their teaching style, you may even pay to enroll in one of their courses. So it's important to remember that people buy from those they know, like trust, okay? When someone is relatable, it's easier to get to know them. Your story is what makes you unique and relatable to the right target audience and the online business world. As you start to share your personal and business stories, people will get to know you. And when your story in your experiences resonate with them, it makes you more relatable and more likely for them to become one of your paying customers. So remember that. Alright, so just to kind of recap, it's natural to have fears and limiting thoughts about starting an online business. However, you have to recognize that these thoughts when left unchecked, will sabotage your dreams. Instead of focusing on your fears, shift your mindset and focus on your unique experiences that deserve to be shared, Okay, focus on the fact that you only have to be one step ahead of the person you're trying to help and focus on. You know, the fact that your ability to relate to the right audience of people will take you far in your business. In the next lesson, we'll explore your skills as a method to drum up some business ideas. 3. Examine Your Skills: In the previous lesson, we discussed how to overcome the limiting thoughts that keep you from having a success mindset. In this lesson, it's time to examine your skills as a source for finding a potential business idea. And there are three questions we'll focus on. Let's get started with the first question. What abilities do you have? Okay, so that's the first thing we'll look into. So using myself as an example, over the years I've recognized that I have this ability to take a complex issue and break it down into layman's terms so that the average person who maybe was not familiar with the technical jargon can understand it better. So I didn't realize I had this ability until I started creating written tutorials while I was working in the marketing department on mobile former employer. So my colleagues would compliment me on how helpful my written explanations for how to use a particular marketing tool, how helpful it was for them. I mean, they thank me for being patient with them as they learned. And so it's interesting, like this ability to patiently explain complicated steps and processes to other people became one of the pillars of my own business model as an online instructor. All right, so that's one thing to think about. What's move on to the next question. What did you learn in previous jobs? So think about what types of jobs have you worked in the past and what did you learn while you were there? So again, let me use myself as an example. Once upon a time, I was a health care consultant. And one of my main responsibilities in being a health care consultant was giving clients live demonstrations of these employee wellness programs via webinar. Now, prior to that job, I had never in my life had to host a webinar. And then suddenly I was hosting like five to ten of these webinar client presentations a week. So after hosting what seem like hundreds of webinars, I became very skilled at using webinars to present information while still engaging with the client and using my soft skills as I call myself a semi people person. And then years later, when I started my own online business, those Webinar and online presentation skills, they really came in handy. So I was able to use these free webinar presentations to generate sales from my own like signature online courses and products. Had I not worked a job that basically forced me into learning how to host webinars. I would've had a much deeper learning curve and understanding how to use webinars to grow my business. Alright? So it could be that maybe you learned how to use a particular software like in my example. Or it could be that you learned how to build a particular structure, you know, in a past job or maybe you learn how to operate some large piece of machinery. Maybe you had a sales job and you learn some magic trick that helps you to be more persuasive and make more sales. But those things that you learned in previous jobs, they actually matter. Ok, next question to ask yourself. What are some of the things that you do in your everyday life that you find really simple. Now there are some things that you do every day that are so easy peasy for you that you don't even realize it's a major thorn in the side for other people. So for instance, my husband, you know, Engineer and not your typical engineer, but you know, engineer uses Excel spreadsheets probably every day of his working life. And he knows all the little bells and whistles that make those fancy pie charts in the line graphs from data. Meanwhile, like for years, like I've just, I struggle to even remember how to do like the most basic functions of the program. Sometimes like it's, it's a struggle for him. Using spreadsheets is just a normal part of his daily routine. Like it doesn't faze him as just a normal thing that he does. And so, you know, there was a day I asked him for help in mapping out data for this project I was working on. But like he, I don't think he realized like how superior is Excel skills were tomato versus mine. And there's things like that that you're able to do so effortlessly. And it can be the building blocks for a new business idea. So think about that, those things that you find really simple, someone else could find really hard to do. And those can be like the building blocks for a business idea for you. So this part is important. I feel like when you write things down, it helps them to stick more and it also gives you a way to kinda go back over your thoughts. So I want you to take three minutes and I want you to write down some of those, uh, those natural abilities that you have, write down some of the job previous job responsibilities that you had, and then write down some of the simple things that you do on autopilot that maybe it's easy to you, but it might not be easy to someone else. So just take three minutes, three minute brainstorm session. Write down your thoughts right now in your notes, you can do it on a scrap sheet of paper on the downloadable workbook that here with this class. And then in the next lesson, we'll take some time to analyze your strengths as a way to build business ideas. 4. Analyze Your Strengths: In the previous lesson, we talked about examining your skills, including skills you picked up in former jobs and the abilities and everyday skills that you have, maybe don't even really notice. In this lesson, we're going to focus on analyzing your personal strengths as a way to come up with potential business ideas. And we'll start by answering three questions. So let's get started with that first question. What are some of your best characteristics? Now, in almost every job interview I've ever had, I've been asked by the interviewer to describe a few of our personal strains. Now there's a reason that employers want to know the answer to this question. They understand that your personal strengths are what help to define your character. So these character strengths, as we'll call them, are what help us to do well with accomplishing certain tasks and actions. So many times these strengths come naturally to us, but there are some times when you can put work into building a particular characteristic as a string. So to give just a few examples of some personal strains that you might be a little bit more familiar with. You may have is that you may not, but we'll go through a couple of them. You could be detail oriented, meaning you pay very close attention to even the smallest details. You can be a very persuasive person, meaning that you're good at getting people to believe something through your reasoning. You can be very dependable so people know that they can trust you to follow through. You can be a very team oriented person, meaning that you work really well with others and you can focus on the goal of the group rather than just your own individual goals. You may be a very analytical person, meaning you're very good at collecting information and analyzing it, and then maybe even using that information that you've analyzed to solve problems. Now the list of these character strengths go on and on. For myself, to my own personal character strengths are that number one, I'm a creative thinker, and number two, I'm empathetic. So my empathy, in my opinion, I believe it actually helps me to better relate to people and it makes me a better listener. My strength as a creative thinker helps me to come up with outside-the-box ideas. So both of these characteristics have helped me in terms of shaping and molding my business into a reflection of me. The next question to think about, what are your passions? I truly believe some of the best business ideas are born from something you are passionate about, okay? When you're passionate about something, you can talk about it. Focus on it for long periods of time without getting bored. Now, your passion, your passion has to be combined with good business research and idea validation. And this is what can grow into a solid business. So, yes, I do think that passions makes some of the best, like I business ideas. But you have to validate those ideas. You just can't take that passion and run with it. But OK, let me dig into this. So if you're not a dog lover, but you start an online business that's all about dogs because it's a popular niche and you can make money in it. I think you're setting yourself up for failure. Like I would never suggest for someone to do that like you should build my opinion, build a business around an idea that you're passionate about because that passion is what can help to give you that momentum and that extra motivation you need to get through barriers that you will inevitably face when starting a business. So for me, I'm very passionate about helping working moms to start a creative side hustle. Now, it's kinda based on my background, my story like I previously struggled with feeling like my creativity was being silenced in the workplace. And then simultaneously I felt like all my free time at home was dedicated and focused on my children, especially when they were little slew was really hard to find time to do the creative things that I enjoy it. So eventually I had to just like take a stand, reclaim some of my own time and start to work on those personal projects. They made me feel like I was actually like flourishing creatively. And then after I accomplished some of those projects for myself is when I started to work towards helping other moms who were experiencing a similar situation as I had experienced. So that's just my own personal story. So maybe for you, you have a passion for travel, or maybe you have a passion for rebuilding old cars, or maybe a passion for cooking French dishes. Whatever the case may be, it's really worth exploring to see if that passion has the potential to become a business idea for you. The third question, to ask yourself, you know, what do others say you're good at doing? So sometimes you have these strengths like these character strengths that other people see in you and you don't even see it in yourself. Here's an example. My husband is convinced that I should have been an elementary school teacher. He often comments on how he can see that I light up when I'm teaching our children and our teaching our nieces and nephews something new. And he says he can tell like the joy that it brings me to see them actually enjoy learning. Now, this is all true. What I do like, I love to see like children and adults like, I love to see that they're enjoying learning. Like it is a real joy for me. But on the other hand, while I appreciate his opinion, I just don't think I have the right level of patients. This is Dana career as a school teacher. You know, God bless the school teachers. We need them, love them. But I don't have that patients. But again, I do recognize Man, I really enjoy fostering a love of learning in kids. So anyway, think about what other people in your life, like your family members or your coworkers and your friends. Like what do they say you're good at doing? Think about scenarios in your workplace or in your password place where you've been asked to help out with something, how about with a particular task? It's most likely that the reason that someone was asking for your help is because they saw you as being good at that task and they, you know, they sought your hope for that particular reason they saw you as good at it. Think of times maybe where your friends or your family members have asked for your opinion or for your help with something. Now, if you're comfortable, you can even go as far as to actually ask the people in your life, your friends, your family, your coworkers, ask them to tell you a couple of things that they think you're good at doing. Alright, so if you feel bold and you should be feel bold, God and ask, it doesn't hurt to jot down some ideas from others. Alright, so here we go. And the other three minute brainstorm session, I want you to take these three minutes and write down your personal strains. Write down some things you have a passion for, and then write down some things that maybe others in previous experiences have said that they think you're really good at doing are things that people have asked for your help with. So write those things down. And then we'll in the next lesson, move on to exploring your interests as a way of sourcing business ideas. 5. Explore Your Interests: In the previous lesson, we analyze your personal strengths, your passions, and the strengths that other people seeing you. In this lesson, we're going to explore your different interests by focusing on two main questions. So let's get started with that. The first question is, what are the things that you like doing that come easily to you? So, for example, I really enjoy designing graphics for my websites and my presentations and my digital products. Wow, I am by no means an expert or graphic design. I enjoyed teaching myself how to use different graphic design tools. Canvas being one of my favorites. So I can spend hours and hours and hours just playing around in Canvas and creating different designs using that software, designing layouts for a marketing pieces. It comes easy to me and I really, really like doing it. So again, I am not a trained graphic designer at all. It's simply an interests I developed and it's an interest that happens to now actually helped me when it comes to running my business. So it's entirely possible if I wanted to, I could take this interests in graphic design and create a new income stream by offering a graphic, maybe graphic design services to other online business owners. Like if I wanted to, that is a business model and we'll talk more about those like a business model that I could use. Another completely unrelated interests that I have is fishing. Okay, so weird because I don't really like enjoy bugs and sweating and all that stuff. But the only time that it is I can deal with all of that is if I'm fishing, I've been fishing since I was a little girl. And while I'm not efficient Guru, even after all these years, you know, it is one of my favorite hobby. So I love being out on the water. I like analyzing like where to find the best fishing hole. Like what beat or the fish biting that day. And then I even like just that feeling of waiting and, you know, just waiting to feel the tug on the line that tells me that I've actually caught a fish. So it's an interest that I've held onto for years. And guess what if I really wanted to, there's a possibility that I could take this interest in fishing and use what I know to maybe let's say like create a niche phishing website that's all about and fishing tips for beginners. Okay, that's just an example. So I'm sure you have an interest or a hobby that you really like to do. It doesn't have to be something that you're great at. Okay, that's not the point, okay, it just needs to be something that you enjoy. That you might also enjoy teaching someone else how to do via a business, right? Next question. What do you want to learn more about? Okay, so let me use myself as an example again. Because I run a business that talks about different side hustles and income streams that people can build. There's other related topics. It's like budgeting and investing that tend to come up. Now, I'll be honest, I know very little about the world of investing, okay? But the little bit that I do know, it probably comes from bits and pieces that I've picked up and content that I've read are just for my husband. However, because of these little tidbits that I've learned and, you know, coming across these things so frequently and I've, I have this desire to learn more about investing. Okay, so, so much so that I did end up taking like a beginners course on investing. And that was like, it was really intriguing and it inspired me to learn more. So even though this is something I don't know much about and I have this strong desire. It's possible that I can take this desire to learn more about investing in that, you know, that kind of interest in investing could in the future, in the future turn into a business. You know, maybe I teach other beginner investors like the steps that I took to get started. All right, so this is exactly why I believe it's good to keep in mind those things that you're compelled to learn more about. So yeah, so maybe you don't know a bunch about a particular topic right now. But as you teach yourself when you start to learn more, that you might, you might find that man like this is something that I want to help others with and that becomes a really good idea for something you can use in terms of turning it into a business model. So maybe you've been thinking about learning how to paint with watercolors, or maybe you want to take baking classes and learn how to make a custom wedding cake, maybe you're interested in getting into gardening. Gardening. Your attraction to those ideas is really meaningful. Learning how to do any of those things could turn into a passion. And like I said in a previous lesson and the previous lesson, those passions make a really good, really good business ideas. In the next lesson, we'll discuss kinda my favorite online business ideas and I'll walk you through some specific examples. But before we do that and other little brainstorming session, I want you to take three minutes and write down those things that you like to do that really easily to you. And then write down those things that you have that desire to learn more about. Hey, just make a list again, you can use a downloadable workbook or you can just use a scrap sheet of paper, but give yourself three minutes, jot down a couple of notes. It will come in handy towards the end of this class. 6. 5 Business Models + Example Ideas: In the previous lesson, we explored your interests and the things that come easy to you, as well as those interests that you have a desire to learn more about. Now, this lesson is one of my favorites. I'm gonna give you an overview of some of my favorite online business models. And then I'll also go over a few business examples based on several different seven different skills and interests. Okay, so let's start with the first one. Starting a blog. So starting a blog is a great business idea because it allows you to write and share content on your topic of choice in the build website traffic that you can eventually monetize with. Products, digital products, affiliate marketing coaching programs, advertising and more. So starting a blog was one of my first online business models that, that I created. And it's a good one that I think more people should, should actually think about. Creating online courses. You're in an online class right now. So of course I was going to bring that up as potential business models. So I think creating online classes is a really good business model for those who want to share what they know in what I consider, you know, at least for me personally, a more engaging format. So these classes or courses, whatever you call them, they typically can be like video courses. They can be audio courses. Personally, I fell in love with online course creation a few years ago. So creating online courses is how I deliver a good bit of my knowledge to my audience. And it's, it's a business model that I've been using, like I said, for a couple of years. So that's one to definitely, definitely consider publishing e-books. Okay, So you can publish e-books on sites like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple books, even on your own website. So this is a good business model if you prefer, kinda transforming what you know into written words. So another cool thing I like about publishing books online is that as long as you don't sign any exclusivity agreements, you can sell your books on multiple sites at one time. So, you know, you can be making money from your book on Amazon while we're making money from your book on Barnes and Noble. So making money from ebook that's being sold through websites. So I just, I love being able to kind of turn one product into multiple income streams. So I'm, I'm big on that. On line. King. Okay, so if you're the kind of person who prefers to have more kind of personal interaction with clients, then I think online coaching could be a really good fit for you. So online coaching, it could include your e-mail coaching, audio calls, video calls, small-group coaching, or just individual coaching. I mean, there's a lot of different, really cool and not super expensive software out there that will help you to run. And online coaching program. I mean, kinda falls in line with this, but like consulting, having an online consulting business could be similar to this coaching program. So that's definitely something to think about if you kinda like that. More personal, one-on-one touch when it comes to starting an online business. And then think about the possibility of starting like an online shop. So this works really well if you have like a desire to sell products online. So these products can be physical products that you sell through your online story using a print on demand service or drop shipping, or even just good old sourcing and creating your own goods. So you can also sell digital products like workbooks, planners, printable worksheets, and those kinda things with an online shop. So these are just five types of online business models that you can keep in mind as you're working through your lists of skills, strengths, and interests. But to help you better understand how these business models might apply, I want to walk you through some examples, kinda some business examples based on some different skills and interests of Hey, I feel like it will help bring together these business ideas with skills and interests. So you'll have a better idea of how to do this with your own skills, strengths, and interests that hopefully you're keeping track of throughout this class. So first example, let say, OK, you're skilled at cooking, okay? If you're skilled at cooking, you might consider one, starting a cooking blog to share your favorite recipes, OK, to teaching an online course on how to prepare and easy meal for a dinner party. Maybe are three, maybe even like starting a YouTube channel with cooking tips, cooking tutorials, cookware reviews, so that, you know just three ideas to think about. If you're someone who has these cooking skills and you're trying to figure out, well, what can I do with this? To turn this into a business? Example number two, what if you have these graphic design skills k, you might consider teaching an online course that shows maybe someone how to use your favorite Graphic Design Program. Think about maybe selling graphic design packages as a service to small business owners. So that was something I mentioned before because I love Canva, not a guru at graphic design, but I'm, you know, I do, I can do really well at using Canvas. So I have considered maybe selling some graphic design packages as a service and then maybe starting an online shop selling pre-made designed templates. So I know actually several entrepreneurs all in entrepreneurs who have shops set up and they sell these pre-made designs, pre-made Canada designs are really popular right now. So that's something to think about. You can take those graphic design skills and turn it into this like so much more in terms of running an online business. Third example, dating advice. So maybe you have a knack for giving people dating advice. And if so, you could think about maybe starting a business as an online dating coach. So you're basically offering online coaching services for people who are looking for love. You can think about creating a pod cast to share your dating tips, advice, and resources. So I have a couple of friends who have podcasts and one of the way. One of the ways that they monetize their podcasts is through sponsorships and then even like affiliate links that they can use some times on the webpage that leads to their podcasts. And then also think about maybe creating an online course with tips on how to find love. So, you know people, if you're really into that and you're really good at giving dating advice. Let me tell you that can be turned into an online business. Okay. You have to you have to think it through. And you know, there's some tech components of pulling that all together, but you can make money sharing what you know about dating advice and advice on love. So don't discount that as a business model if it's something you really into photography lovers, oh my goodness, I wish that I could like actually properly use a camera. Anyway. Yeah, I'm one of the people I buy stock photography all the time. So I've so much money, so much of my money goes to stock photography. Anyway, if you have this love for photography, you might consider selling stock images on multiple stock photo sites. You know, there's so many out there. You can put your images up there and they'll pay you as people pay to access those premium images. Think about teaching an online class about introductory or intermediate photography skills. And even on a platform like skill share, there are some wonderful photography courses on this platform. And those instructors, some of those instructors are making, you know, a decent amount of money teaching what they know to other people who really want to learn more about photography. I'm, you can even think about starting a membership site to deliver a new images to paying customers monthly. So personally, I pay for one or two services that delivers that will basically gives me access to premium images every single month. And these aren't like huge mega companies. These are individual entrepreneurs who launched this membership site and I loved their photography and I use it in my business, so I pay monthly for their service. So that's something to think about if you really love photography. Alright, fifth example. So this one's really cool, does not apply to me because I barely know a second language. But if you're fluent in another language, you can start a business from this. You can be sort of business as a translator, okay? You can translate documents, translate books, movies, subtitles. There's a lot of different work out there that you could do in terms of starting a saw, like a creative side hustle as an online translator. And you can think about creating online tutoring business so that you can help others become fluent in a language. There are so many tutoring websites out there, and that's to me, that's an online business as well. Offering those services, you can sign up for one of those platforms. And you can make money with a side hustle, you know, in terms of tutoring someone on the second language. And then even if you want to take it further a step further, teach your own online class for those who prefer to learn a new language in that format. So you can put together a pre-made videos or audio lessons, and you can sell an online class. If you're fluent in a second language. Number six, What if you're a rock star at organizing and planning? Okay, I know a couple of people who are really good at keeping organized and they just have their planner and it just, oh my goodness, I envy them. But if you have this as something that you're really interested in, you could think about hosting live workshops to help other people learn how to get better organized, or even showing other people how to actually use a planner. I know for some people you might think, well, who would want to pay to learn how to use a planner? Trust me, like if you don't really, if you're looking to get organized and you find someone in their message resonates with you. You know, that person will pay. Think about starting an online shop to sell principle planning sheets. So or you can even start a line of physical planners, you know, like paperback are spiral bound planners like that's a potential business you could sell. So from a website as well. Sites like Etsy and even using like a Shopify site you can so principal planning sheets very easily on sites like that. And maybe even think about starting a blog to share tips on staying organized and improving your planning skills. So those are all ways to kind of turn that interests into an actual business. Alright, last example here. But it's a popular one. Maybe you have a passion for healthy living. Okay? So if you have this passion for health and fitness, you could think about starting an online health coaching business. My nephew and his wife, they're both online health coaches and they work in the field of personal development as well. They do really well with their online health coaching business. They offer all kinds of like meal plans and meal prep and just helping people with their mindset when it comes to healthy living, I think it's really cool. I mean, you could think about writing and publishing e-books on different healthy living topics. Okay, so we talked about book like e-books as one of those major business models. So this could definitely apply to health and fitness as well. I'm an even starting an online shop selling meal plans are selling fitness apparel. So this is another way to just take that love for healthy living and apply it to your business. So the idea here is just to understand that there are several ways you can deliver your business idea. And that in fact, once you get going, it's likely you're gonna find yourself running a business, maybe even based on a combination of these business models. Ok, so my suggestion is to choose one business model that's the best fit for you right now. Okay? So we talked about these five different business models. But just for the purpose of giving yourself some clarity, choose one that's a really good fit for you. And then use that model to get started on your business. So again, we're gonna do a little brainstorming session and just think through those models that we talked about. So think through starting a blog, creating online courses, publishing e-books, starting an online coaching program, or even starting an online shop. Think through those and choose the one that you feel resonates with you most. In the final lesson, I'll recommend a method of narrowing down your list of skills, strengths, and interests, and how to decide on, you know, maybe those one or two business ideas to further explore. 7. Choosing a Business Idea + Final Thoughts: Welcome to the final lesson of this class. At this point, you should have a better understanding of your skills, your strengths, and your interests that can potentially be transformed into an online business idea. To recap, your skills include the skill sets you picked up in former jobs and the abilities and everyday skills you have. But maybe don't really notice. Your strengths include your character strengths, your passions, and the strengths that other people seeing you and your interests include those things that you really like doing and that come easily to you, as well as those interests you have the desire to learn more about. You should also now be familiar with the five popular online business models, including starting a blog, creating online courses, publishing e-books, starting an online coaching program, and starting an online shop. My guess is that your brain is probably already lighting up with these ideas and maybe you even have a very clear idea of which of your skills, strengths, or interests that you want to use for your first online business idea. If that's the case, wonderful mission accomplished. However, if you're still unsure, I don't want you to worry. Let me show you how to use what you learned in this class to narrow down your list and actually choose a business idea. Hopefully, while listening to each lesson, you were able to write down a few notes about your skills, your strengths, and your interests because you can use those nodes right now to narrow down your decision. So first I want you to go back to your written notes, read over what you wrote. Then I want you to circle just one skill, then circle one strength, and then one interests from those written nodes, okay? Circle the one from each lesson that Hugs at you and speaks to you the most. Now, I understand, you might find it difficult to circle just one from each lesson, but the truth is, you have to start somewhere. So my suggestion is just go with your gut and circle those three ideas that resonate with you the most. Okay, so after you do that, I want you to choose one of the five business models that we discussed. So we already talked about that in a lesson. But if you weren't able to sit yourself down and make a choice, then I want you to make a choice now, choose the business model based on what seems like the best fit for your business idea and teaching style right now. Now if you're able to take those steps, you should now have a list of three ideas, your strengths and your interests, and one preferred business model that you can use to get started. As a final step, I want you to write three I am statements that combine each business idea with the business model that you've chosen. For example, if your chosen business model is creating online courses and you're chosen, intrest is graphic design. You'll write your I am statement as I am creating an online course about graphic design. If you're chosen business model is online coaching and your chosen passion is healthy eating. You'll write your IM statement as I am creating an online coaching program about healthy eating. Writing your business ideas as an I am statement is a powerful mindset technique. For me I am statements are affirmative statements that help you kinda ward off those sneaky limiting thoughts that we talked about a couple lessons ago. Taking the time to actually write these IM statements is really just a way to reinforce your business ideas to yourself. Ok, so it's all about, like I said, going back to the previous lesson, writing out these positive, affirmative thoughts to beat out those limiting thoughts. As an additional step. Maybe think about spending a little bit of extra time researching and validating the business ideas on your narrow list. So validating a business idea, it could simply mean, you know, just making sure that there is a demand for your business idea and that there's a paying audience for you to tap into. So a very simple way to try to validate a business idea is to search for your topic of interests in a Facebook group or on an online forum like Cora are Reddit. So pay close attention to what types of questions people are asking about your particular topic. And then take a close look at answers that are given. Who was giving them in any recommended resources. At the end of the day, starting an online business is about solving a problem for your audience with your content, your products, and your resources. So if in your research, if in your research you're able to find that people have problems related to your business idea and that they're looking for answers to me. That means you're on the right track. Let's end this class with another one of my favorite inspirational quotes. This one comes from gay Hendricks, who's the author of the book, The Big Leap. Life is at its best when love, money and creativity are growing in harmony. I absolutely love this quote. So for me, those creative talents that are just sitting there inside of you, they're not meant to stay pent up. I think that we're supposed to let our creativity flow. So those creative gifts, those creative talents, they deserve to be shared with the world. And I think that one of the best ways to do that is to turn it into an online business that allows you to share that knowledge that you've accumulated. So my hope is that this class has shown you that, you know more than you think you know, and that you can start this successful online business if you put your mind to it. So I want you to take those creative gifts, turn them into an abundant online business and share that business and that knowledge with the world.
