1. Intro: Hello everyone. My name is Vasjen katro and I'm a graphic designer. On this class today I'm going to show you how to make these three posters. You can see that they are different from one another, but they also have some similarities. The techniques and tools that have used there. Basically we're going to work in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create all these three posters. If you like this posters and you think that they look pretty cool and you want to learn how to make them, this class is for you. Make sure you watch the other videos and make sure you have Photoshop and Illustrator installed on your computer because that's all you need and let's get started.
2. Explainer: Hey, welcome, and thanks for joining the class. Has been quite a while since my last class, and this is going to be a fun one, I promise, even though most of my classes are totally experimental and probably you've seen the intro and you already know what I'm going to end up doing. But at this stage, I don't know what I'm going to do. I know the technique and the tools I'm going to use, but it's going to be completely experimental, the same way I do all the other posters. For all of you that don't know me, my name is Vasjen Katro, I'm a graphic designer, and I'm the guy behind the Baugasm project, and this is another class showing you how I do some of my posters. Today I'm going to show you a pretty cool technique. Basically I'm going to try to replicate this poster, maybe this one as well, but basically we're going to work in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. We're going to try to play little bit with colors. But for this one, I'm really going to go with something with dark colors like for example, I really like this and this, they have this black and gray and then they have just a little bit of color for contrast. Basically this is what we are going to try to do, not replicate, I'm just going to go experimental and try something out. I hope you're going to enjoy it and see you on the next video so we can get started with this.
3. Blend Tool Introduction: Hey, welcome back. As I mentioned before, we're going to use two different softwares, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Here I have the template I use for most of my posters. What we're going to start with is this blank thing, and for you that are new in this classes, everything is experimental. I know what tools I'm going to use and the techniques I want to show you but I'm just going to go completely experimenting with different tools and playing around with Photoshop and Illustrator until I'm happy with the design. I know what I want to do, I'm trying to keep it a little bit dark and have some colors but I'm going to show you now the techniques, a simple technique that I've been trying using it a lot lately on my Baugasm series in Instagram. The technique is in Adobe Illustrator, so I'm just going to go and open this. By the way, if you like this design, I designed this, together with Ori Toor. The splash screen for Illustrator, which I think it's a big deal. I'm so happy because more I see it and more I like it, especially now I didn't realize until this point where I had to show you. It's a nice feeling to have it there every time that you have to work with. I created a random document here in Illustrator. Some of the time I'm going to mention the shortcuts I'm going to use in Photoshop, also in Illustrator, but for most of the times you can see them while I'm typing them. The technique I'm going to show you today is called Blend. It's a Blend tool. It's pretty simple, and let me give you an example. What the Blend tool allows you to do, is that if you draw a shape here and you have a different element somewhere there, the Blend tool is right here. It's this one, Blend tool. Also you can get that by just pressing ''W'' on your keyboard. Let's explain a little bit what the Blend tools does. What we're going to touch base with the Blend tool today is that, a simple technique like you replicate or you duplicate these as many times as you want until this shape. This is going to be duplicated many times until you reach this phase. To give you a better idea of that, I'm just going to go and use it here. I'm just going to click here, click on this shape, and then on the other one. As you can see what that did is that it created one, two, three, four, five different clones of that, and created a path to that shape. What we can do with this tool, is we can control how many steps we want, also, we can manipulate the path that it follows until the next shape. But what if the other shape is different? What if this shape has different position, like here? You can see it starts from the first position, and it goes, rotates to the last position or the last shape. This is pretty cool because you can do so many crazy stuff with this. But what if this element over here, it is a different shape, not square it's different. Let's say we make this, for example, with a circle. As you can see now from square, it gets into a circle. What I like most about this tool is that it's endless, you can use it to create so many cool stuff. Before I jump and start making the poster in Photoshop, I'm just going to show you a few things you can do with this tool. This was just an introduction of what we're going to learn in Illustrator, to create. This video was just to give you an introduction to the tool. The next video, we're still going to be in Illustrator working, but I'm going to show you what you can do with this tool in detail, and tell you a few tricks on how I use it to create some pretty cool stuff. 4. Ai Design 01: Hey, welcome back. So on the previous video we touch base on the blend tool and give you an idea of what we're going to be working with and what the blend tool does. But to go in more detail, basically we have to experiment more with this and blend tool has some more features we can play around with so on this video that's what we're going to do so I'm just going to select these and get rid of it. Let's start doing something, so with a blend tool let's make a different shape. I'm going to make a square like this and I'm going to "Alt" "Shift" duplicate these around here. So basically this is what we did also in the previous video. So now we have the blend tool I could do the same like get the blend tool and apply it from here to there but I want to specify the steps or how many times this is going to be duplicated until it reaches the next object. So the way to do that is double-click on this icon and you get this so you have Smooth Color and then you have Specified Steps. We're going to touch base on Smooth Color later as well but we have specified steps which we really want and what that does is that, I can select here how many times the first object it's going to duplicate until it reaches the next object, so how many times from here to here? Let's give it a try with, let's say 100. All right, so I'm going to click here and then in here. As you can see, now we have more than six times that duplicate it and it reach this position. So now we can try and do the same thing as we did on the previous video like you'd have to double-click so you enter inside that and then you can see that you can create this stuff. But what if I want to change the steps, like you applied that now but what if I want to add more? So all you have to do is just select this and then double-click here, and then specify to 200 and "Enter". But I have to mention also something else like, let's get rid of this so what if the shape is different color? What if the shape doesn't have stroke? It has black, and the other shape is different color, how does that work? So let's give it a try, I'm going to select this one and this one. So basically what it does is basically it just creates a gradient. So if you want to achieve what we are trying to do as I showed you on the first video we have to use a stroke on these to create those nice lines and we can control the width of the stroke around its shape we're going to create. But also we can't create gradients and some crazy ones actually in a way this tool as well but I'm going to show you on the next video a bit later on how to do that. So on this video we're going to be focused on creating some different shapes with a stroke and see what we can get to. Let's delete this and the first thing I'm going to create is, I'm going to get to line, just going to do it here and then I'm going to add a stroke to this line and maybe in black then I'm going to duplicate this and get it until here. So now I want to duplicate from here to here so what I can do is going to get the "W" from the keyboard just in case you didn't remember before what the shortcut for that? So we have 200 of that line from there to there, but what if I want to add it to the path of these two? So as you can see this line here is the path from that to that so what we can do is we can manipulate the path that this follow. With A tool I added an anchor point, sorry, I had to enter inside. Now I can add another there, okay, you have to find out why that's not working this time. Let's see what's going on here, all right for some reason with a line doesn't create a path. I just figured out because what I'm trying to say is, this is good, I think because you all should know this. I didn't know this until this point because I tried different stuff with the lines but I never try manipulating the path so what I'm trying to say is that if I create a rectangle in here like this one and then make another one in here and I get the blend tool from this one to this one. As you can see, it creates this line in here which is a path from this one to this one and what I want to do is play around with it like this but with the lines it doesn't create that. That's funny. So let's create something else with the lines since we were doing that. All right, I'm going to get this here as well. I don't know if you can hear the noise of the computer it's working hard but what I usually do with these thing is that I can go right here and I can get the warp tool. So with the warp tool, I can warp the first element like that, and like that, and like that, and I can get these crazy shapes. With holding Alt and shift on your keyboard and scrolling on your trackpad, you can change the size of this. I'm just going to make it a little bit bigger and I'm just going to play around with it so I can create these shapes. As you can see now, more you play around with this, also with the bottom one you can add to that one as well, you can move it left and right so you can change the shape of the circle. This is pretty cool because this is one of the staff that I really like about the blend tool because you can create these crazy shapes with it. Let's try something else with the blend tool. I'm just going to Alt Shift and duplicate this whole artboard on Illustrator and make another one and let's delete this. By the way, this is the Illustrator 2018, I highly recommend that you get it because there are some pretty cool stuff and you it's easier I think in a way for some things and I like the UI has changed a little bit more or less details, but I'm liking it. I haven't played more around with it to learn what's new, but there are some pretty cool stuff added which you can go and Google it. What I'm going to do next is let's make a rectangle. Here is a rectangle and then let's duplicate this in here and let's get the w click in there. Let's do something else before. As you can see, this rectangle has only stroke, but I want it also to be filled with white. I'm just going to duplicate that as well, get the W, click here and here, and we got the duplication. Now, I'm just going to select only this one and I'm going to make the corners rounded and maybe change a little bit the size of it. Then select also this one and do the same and maybe make it like that. What else we can do with this? As I said before, we can manipulate the path that these shape follow and this is the coolest part about this because now I added the two anchor points in that line in there but with A, you can go and select now this one and now you can just drag it like that and here you make some crazy stuff. I'm going to add another anchor point in here with P on keyboard. You just get that or you can go right here on the left side and click and add and then press A on keyboard as a selector and just drag it down. I'm going to select this one add it in here. As you can see like more, I'm spreading the path around, the shapes are becoming more distance from each other so what you can do in that case is like just go out and select the whole thing, double-click on the blend tool and then increase the specified step. I'm going to go with 300 maybe and there we go. So what else you can do is the same thing we used to create this shape in here, we can do the same one in this one. So I'm going to go and get the work tool and now I can manipulate not only the path, but also the shape itself; like here, I can manipulate the shape, but I don't want do that. I just want to manipulate the path that it follows so we can get some really cool stuff like this. Then you can just select all of it and as you can see with the new illustrator, you can kind of smooth things around. Let's select all of it actually and press a and you see this and I'm just going to smooth everything out. Another thing you can do here, you can go also on the wrinkle tool and actually, if you click only ones, don't over-exaggerate with this, but like only on the path if you click sometimes, I really like this, like wrinkling that it does to the path and to the shapes. I'm kind of really liking that but also what else you can do is that you can, let's make this a little bit smaller so it's more intense in there. Now with a, I can select only this element and kind of spread it around and then select another anchor point in here, bringing it up there. Basically what you can do is like go crazy with this. I'm just going to select a bunch here and then with a shift and arrows, you can navigate around. So basically you can add more with P and create some more there. You can create these shapes. Now you can still add these shapes, for example, if you want to change the width of the stroke, you can make your length 0.5 so it's more like from lighter to darker or you can just select that one and you can make it even like wide and it's kind of fading from that to the different shape. I'm just going to switch back here because I'm liking this. These are two ways you can use this. On the next video, I'm going to show you what else you can do with a blend tool and then I'm going to show you basically how you can use this tool again with some colors and what you can do with it and in the end, we're going to make a poster maybe with all these shape that we are going to create. I still don't know what its going to be. You already know, but yeah, see you on the next video.
5. Ai Design 02: Hey, welcome back everybody. On the previous video, we saw how to use the blend tool and create different designs with the lines and different shapes. We going to expand that technique in here and try to create some more designs. Just going to zoom in this art board over here. Basically, before we created two different shapes and replicated from one to the other and change the path. What I'm going to do here is a cool trick with circle within circle. This is going to be pretty cool. I mean, as far as you understand how the technique works, you can try to experiment more with it and come up with cooler designs and maybe different techniques that I'm not showing here. Because basically, it's the same technique and it's the same concept, but depends on how you use it and how you apply it. I created here a circle, I'm going to give it a feel of white and black stroke. Also, I'm going to duplicate this and I'm going to make a smaller one. Now I'm going to not put this, for example, here as we did it before, but I'm going to keep it inside that circle. It's going to give a cool illusion and cool effect. I'm going to select this one. I'm going to get the W for blend tool and click over here and the next one. As you can see, that replicated different shapes until it reached the other shape and they're getting smaller and smaller until we reach the final desired shape. But as you can see here, there are so many replications. We don't want the many specified steps, so I'm just going to drop to 40 maybe, and you get this cool effect. Now, the cool part is that you can grab this circle and move it around or even outside, but I like having it inside the other circle, and you can create these cool shapes. You can also increase maybe the number of specified steps and get a maybe better and detailed effect. But I really do like this. What else you can do is, you can still go to the warp tool over here and deform these as well and you can get also these wrinkles. I don't know how to call them, but you can deform this shape more and more and you can get these cool effects. For the sake of this tutorial, I'm just going to leave it as it was because I like it that way. This is another thing, what you can do. Another thing, what you can do basically is, duplicate or apply the blend tool to a group of elements. What I mean by that is that, let's go here and give it a try. What I'm going to do, maybe I'm going to create a cross or a plus, call it as you want. I'm just going to remove the stroke and I'm just going to keep it black, this one and I'm going to duplicate that with holding Alt and moving right and left, so it goes to the same position and then rotate it. We have a plus here. I'm going to go and open Pathfinder so I can join them. All right, so this is a shape now and what I want to do is, I'm going to make it smaller. Now, what I want to do, there are two ways of doing this, but this depends on what you want to do that change it. I'm going to try. I'm going to show you both ways how you can create basically this. I'm going to make this a little bit smaller. All right, so I have this and I'm going to hold Alt and Shift and drag it down. We created a duplicate of that. But the cool part about the Illustrator is that if you press Command D now, it's going to replay the last thing you did. Basically I duplicated that, that's what going to do. I'm going to duplicate this a few times and I have so many pluses shapes right now. What I want to do is select all of them and press command G on the keyboard so I can group them. Now they're all together grouped. What I want to do is, I want to create a copy of this. I'm going to press Alt and Shift and drag it on the right side and we have now two groups. Basically we can apply the blend tool to the groups as well. I'm going to click in here and in here. As you can see, they have been duplicated many times, but I don't want these many steps, so I'm going to go maybe to 25. Yeah. Now, you can see that there is still that path going on. If you want to manipulate that, let's say with a warp tool, you can do that and you can get this pretty cool effect about the whole crossing but there's a different approach. What if we wanted to create a path for each of these? Like one here, one here, one here, and one there. The way to do that basically is create one shape there and one shape there, use the blend tool and then duplicate that. Let's give it a try. I'm just going to go back to what we had and I'm going to duplicate this over here, get the blend tool and from there to there, and we have this, why did that happen? I'm going to duplicate that over there and now get the W, click there and there. I don't know why that's not working, but this is like duplication. We have this line between these and I'm going to just duplicate this until here and then just going to duplicate this. But as you can see right now, for each of these altogether, I have paths replicating. Now I can only work with those path and now you can create this cool effect and looks more like a clothing, like more warping to the whole path. I like that because it gives this special effect. But yeah, I mean, as I said before, this is completely experimental. I'm just playing around with this tool and showing you different things you can do and the basic idea is that, I'm just showing you the tool and you can just go experiment and create your own stuff. Maybe you can use this to create even cooler things than I am, but that's the main purpose of this class; showing you the technique and you can go completely crazy with it. On the last two videos, I showed you how to use the tool and basically how to create different designs with different shapes and on the next videos, I'm going to go jump back in Photoshop and try to use some of these designs and start making a poster.
6. Ai Design 03: Hey, welcome back. So here's a quick tip related to the previous video, something that I forgot to mention, but it's pretty cool because until now we have discussed how to create duplication and use a blend tool with two shapes but here with the circle, actually you can create so many cool stuff. You are not limited in one shape. So basically what you can do is like duplicate this make a smaller version, let's add it somewhere here or here and now you can make another one and make it smaller and I'm going to add it somewhere here. Now I'm going to make a smaller one, oops, duplicate this. I'm going to make a smaller one and add it somewhere here. So basically what I did before is that i created from one to the other but what if I want to use a few of them? So basically it's the same concept. I'm just going to go from this one to this one and from this one to this one and this one to this one, and look at that. It's pretty cool. Now, you can get inside and can move these things around like that and they're still going to look pretty cool. So you can create these kind of shapes not only to limited ones, but you can create these super cool stuff. I really like this tool a lot because there are so many, as I said before, possibilities of things you can do with it, and here is another one and for example, now I can just make a duplicate of it. I don't even have to create it from the beginning. I can just duplicate that and already has the flow. So I want to edit here and you can make even a smaller one and add it somewhere there even though more lines are going to be created and it's going to be too complicated but this looks pretty cool to me and I just wanted, on this video, I just wanted to touch base on that because something that I forgot I mentioned before, and I think you should know. It's not limited to only two shapes and let's continue doing the poster now. So see you on the next video.
7. Ai Design 04: Hey, welcome back. Here's a quick tip as well. I'm adding these as extras regarding to that. This is pretty cool because what you can do with the line, as we mentioned before, is that basically you can create a shape like this and lets you create this kind of stuff but now, I'm going to create another one down here with some random corners. Now you can select this, press A on keyboard and smooth this whole thing out. Now I'm going to use a blend tool from here to here. You're going to get this effect. Let's change the specified steps to maybe 200. Now, you can get the same effect as before with playing with the work tool, which basically will do the same thing but pre-defined shapes, which is pretty cool because if you have a path or something that you want to follow you can even do it that way. You don't have to use the bland tool. That's the cool part about it because now you can play with the work tool but if you wanted to have a predefined shape from the beginning, you could even do it that way. As I said, this is an effect that you can play around with it and come up with so many cool stuff and that's the best part about it. I'm really looking forward to see what you're going to create. Now, let's for real jump back on Photoshop and start making the posters.
8. Ai Design Bonus Color : On this tutorial, previously we saw how to use the blend tool in Illustrator to create these shapes basically with the stroke and with a fill color for each shape. What you can do is that you can use some shapes also with the color itself, I'm creating a circle here and let's make it purple. I'm going to make it a bit smaller. What you can do is that you can create this one I'm going to duplicate it here, change the color of it, and make it a little bit into this, and then duplicate this somewhere there and change the color to some orange. Yeah, like there and then another one in here and make it a bit into yellow. Basically, what you can do now is that you can use the same effect, but now smooth color. Now you can click on this and that and go there and there. This is pretty cool. You can create this effect with just four circles or any other shape you want. Now you can select A and I want to make these more rounded. If you select A, you can make this part more rounded. I don't know why it's doing that it's weird. Maybe there too but what you can do is the same as before. You can add more anchor points here like this one and move it there. This one move it there and you can keep adding and adding more stuff of this. This is a cool effect because you can basically create different gradients with this technique and different shapes as well. I hope this is going to help you understand much more how the whole thing works. This opens more a different path for you to experiment with but yeah, let's try get this in Photoshop and see if we can make a [inaudible] parser out of it. This was another bonus tip on this class, and I hope you enjoyed. See you on the next video.
9. First Poster: Hey, welcome back. Now we're going to start making the poster in Photoshop. Basically, what I'm going to start with is this shape. I do like what I got here. I'm going to get these in Photoshop, I'm just going to copy, go back in Photoshop. Here I have the template of the poster that I want to create. Just going to paste it here as a pixel. I don't want smart objects for now. Just make this a little bit bigger. Sometimes Illustrator creates this weird black color. What I want to do is press "Command", "Shift U", which is desaturate, and make sure that that shape is in black color. Now, it has this gray, which I like it. Let's create a new layer here. I'm going to get the brush tool and we're going to change the color to a really black. I'm going to add some shadow to this shape so it has a bit more of a depth. I'm going to go here. Oops, why that did happen? Let's add again the brush in there. We have this shadow around the object. Now we can change maybe the color of these, make it a little bit lighter. But as you can see, that background makes it you can see the gradient. Let's add some noise to that, to the background. Maybe uniform monochromatic, make it a bit smaller here. Now let's try to create that again and see how that looks like. I think it's much better, but now the whole thing is black and white. I want to add some color. What I'm going to try to do is, I'm going to create a new layer, "Command Shift N" for new layer. Now I'm going to get the brush. What I'm going to try to do is paint and create some gradients. I'm going to get this purple. I'm really big fan of it, for you that don't know. I'm adding this purple in here. Now I'm going to try to add some orange, more into red. Let's add some more orange. Lets make the bar stock a bit smaller. Now let's add some more in yellow, somewhere there. Let's make the yellow a bit lighter in one part. Now let's try to add some turquoise light, maybe here. Let's make it now brighter and more saturated. Now let's create a new layer on the background, and try to fill a little bit more with dark purple. It goes well here. Let's merge these two layers. Now we have this kind of a shape. What I want to do is, I'm going to press "Command T", which is free transform, and right-click and go to Warp tool and play around with this until I'm happy. I'm just going to make a shape like this, and see how that looks like. You can play around with these as much as you want, and you can create different shapes depending on your taste. But also you can play more with the colors. I'm selecting this ones because I'm really big fan of this gradients. I know that usually they look good and they work. I'm just going to stop here for a moment and see how this shape it's going to end up looking. What this effect does basically is like Warp tool, the same way as we were using it before in Illustrator. But here in Photoshop, you can create these weird gradients that are coming more fluid and more organic to each other. What else you can do with this is, you can go and see my other tutorials. Basically, I'm explaining this in more details. Highly recommend you go and check the other tutorials here in the Skillshare. But what you can do is, you can go and liquefy. You can use this tool, the Warp tool, and also move them around even more. You can even get this here, and try to create some cool effect in this way. But for now I'm just going to leave it as it was. Let's find a good position that we like for these and see what we can do. Another thing usually, what I do is that I'm going to go here, which is the Lasso tool. I'm going to select the parts that I'm really happy about this, and maybe then select only this part and press "Command J", duplicating that. Here I have a piece of it which I'm really liking how it looks like. Now I want to get another part of it, but I don't want to have it the same, so I'm going to go free transform and warp again, and then try to change its shape in a different form. Let's see what we can get here. I like this one because we had it before, but let's keep it like this for now. Also keep in mind that you don't have to do it this way. You can get even get a photo or you can create something else in Adobe Illustrator and then bring it up in here. Also, you can use the shapes with the gradients and import them in here as well, and try to use them in the poster. Now, let's get another part of this the same with the Lasso tool, "Command J", to duplicate that. Let's get rid of the background. Now we have also this one, but I don't want this one to be in front of this. I wanted to have it on the background. I like it here. I'm just going to give it a bit more of a clear cut there. I really like this, so basically what I want to add to the whole thing is some more details. So basically usually most of the times what I try to do is use some line. So I'm going to go with white, and try to add some elements around the whole poster, so I'm going to add these, different parts of this breaks the rule in a way it's like a more an element, add it to the whole thing. You don't have to do it this way, you can add something else or whatever you want. I'm going to go back in Illustrator and maybe grab this one, and see how this is going to be placed here. I'm going to add it on background actually and see what we can do only with that shape, here I have it. That's black with a black stroke, so you can really see it in here. But I just want that as a background in here, so what I'm going to do, I'm going to grab the Lasso Tool, and I'm going to go over it, and grab some random part of the whole thing. Here I'm going to press command "J", duplicate that, and here I have it on the background. So what else you can basically do is that you can make this a bit lighter, so you can go double-click on the layer, and can go color overlay, and you can even change the color of it, and you can even create this kind of stuff. But for now, I'm going to keep it the same color as the background, just a little bit lighter so it's not that much visible and let's bring it on the backside of that, and also maybe on the bottom of all the layers, so we have this effect. Let's make it a bit lighter and see how that looks like, I like it here. Now what I would like to do and is maybe add some more elements to the whole design. Maybe you can start adding some text like random numbers. I'm just going to type like 23. Edit here because it looks cool with this line's, going to duplicate that, bring it over here, and then bring it over here, and another one here. I'm just pressing Command "J" to duplicate these numbers, and add them randomly next to this lines. Then you can go and edit the numbers and change them to different numbers. Look, 23, 45, 98. Lets try something else, 12 to make it 65, this can be random. You can even write words or anything you want, but this is completely experimental, so it's up to you to decide what you want to do. So what else we can do to these? I'm happy with it in a way because it looks different from; also like unique because of the combination of these two techniques, the gradient together with a lines and the dark background. But basically what you can do is, you can come up to this layer. I'm going duplicate this, and then make it press command "I", and I'm going to make an inversion of it, and I'm going to make it smaller. Now I'm going to just go to "Mode", "Adjustment", "Brightness", and I'm going to make it darker as I want make here. Now I'm going to just copy only one part of it and remove the other one. I have hopes, I add this one and see if we can find a place to integrate this so it doesn't look that bad, but may be added this way somewhere in here. Let's try to invert it again. It's too white and maybe go back here; and I don't know, maybe we won't use this at all. As I said, this is completely experimental. I'm just playing around as well, so I don't know how this is going to be end up looking, but something else, what you can do is the same way we did the gradients, you can creating new layer in here, get the brushstroke, and this time I'm going to get two mode and go dissolve. We're going to select the black color, and then I'm going to start drawing somewhere in here. What the dissolve does, is create this. I don't like noise around the gradient, so what I want to do now, is I'm just going to go here, I'm going to grab this and add it somewhere in there, and I'm going get the Lasso tool, and select on the sum of the outside of that brush paint we did, so going to press Command "J" now, and I'm going to delete the other layer. Now we have this layer which has caught effect with the noise and darker effects. So I don't know if I'm going to really use these because it's a bit too dark for me, but let's go back to what I had. Let's see what we can do here. Even I'm just going to get the whole thing and add it on the background somewhere there, because it creates more depth to the whole thing, and looks like this layer with the lines of the background has more shadows, but I like here what I did, maybe I'm going to play afterwards a little bit more around with it, but basically, this is the technique and what you can do with it. So I'm going to try to make a different poster with another shape and design. We create a new Illustrator and try to make another poster out of it. See you on the next video.
10. Second Poster: Hey, welcome back. So on the previous video, we saw how to make one poster with one of the elements we designed previously in Adobe Illustrator. On this video today, I'm going to make a different poster. This is a bit different from the other classes because we're going to try to do not only one poster, but we're going to make two or maybe three let's see how it goes. As I said, this is experimental, so I want to get one of the other shapes I designed in Illustrator and drag them here and see what we can do. I'm going to go back to Illustrator and just get or maybe this one here, I'm going to copy it, come back in Photoshop and paste it in here. Let's try that again, I'm going to rotate it these and let's make it a bit bigger like this size. What I want to do is, I'm really liking these this shape, it's darker. I'm going to do Command Shift U to desaturate this and maybe go to image adjustment, brightness and contrast and create a bit the contrast and the brightness bring it down. So we can have this highlights in some points, but it's going to be darker in some other areas. Why didn't that take place? Let's see again, maybe, it doesn't a second, let's bring this down. Sometimes that does replicate that and doesn't work very well, but we can do that, but just decreasing the opacity. So we can get basically the same map effect, I have this now here and what I want to do is I'm going to grab the selection tool and I'm going to get only this part over here. I'm going to press "Command J" to duplicate that. Going to do maybe not delete the background because we're going to use it later. But what I want to do now is I want to create some dark shape in here. So I'm going to try to do the same I did before with the gradient, but in this time I'm going to make it more with dark colors. So I'm just going to create a new layer. I'm going to get the brush and I'm going to start with the black shapes. I'm just going to draw something here and here let's make this random. Now I'm going to get it a bit lighter, I'm going to add a few points just some areas that are lighter. I'm going to make this even lighter and make one spot in there and add one here, here, here, let's make it a bit smaller the brush. I'm going to make it a bit darker some areas. So I'm going to make this dark here and there, I just want to create an organic shape with some highlights. There are different ways to do this, you could create some easy one in cinema for D. But I'm trying to stick here only in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator's. I'm going to try to keep it only within these two software. So I have this layer where I created this weird just random painting. So what I want to do now I'm going to go to Filter and Liquefy. Now in here, I can play around with the work tool and come up with some weird shapes of the whole thing, let's go back to what I had. Now you can deform the whole thing and as you can see, you can get this weird shape in here like this, even that it's getting pixelated in some areas because it feels not that bad. I'm going to leave it here for now and see how we can use what we created here and try to make a poster with it. So there are these and what I want to do now is I'm going to get again the Laser Tool and I'm going to try to select some parts of these that I want to crop out. I'm going to use maybe this part that I selected, I'm going to press Command J and duplicate that and get rid of the other one. Now we have this shape in here and what I can do is create a new layer on the background, get the brush, make it bigger, and add some shadow to the whole thing. So it looks more dynamic in a way, there you go. Now we can add the background with that stroke and shape design that we created before in Adobe Illustrator. Here, this one already is looking pretty cool on my opinion, but let's add some color to it, I'm going to make a new layer. I'm going to make a circle and add a circle somewhere here and let's add some color to this circle, let's try with a red, how it looks like this, just black and white and having just a little bit of contrast there. But what if we want to add some gradient to that? I'm making a new layer, going to get, gather the brush tool again, I'm going to start making a small gradient in here. Let's make this smaller. So I'm going to paint over this thing and let's get again, another color let's make like that. Now get again a bit yellow there and some blue, and see what we can do with this. Now I'm going to wet this thing and see how it's all going to look like maybe, I can do it again, this time. I don't like the dissolve on it so I'm going to keep it like this normal, I'm going to a get some purple and add it there, going to get the red, and add it there as well, and some more red point here and let's try to add some yellow a little bit, and some turquoise. Well, they're starting to look good in way some going to increase this, I'm going to right-click and do create clipping mask. Now we have that gradient inside of that circle. Now we can make this bigger as much as we want and it's still going to look okay. So I like this one and I'm going to keep adding a few more details. So I like to keep it minimalistic in a way, I'm going to try to add one line from here to there and this is already looking pretty cool in my opinion. But what we can do is that we can add again layer, we hold on the background and maybe rotate it horizontally. Now we can get another copy of this part in here. So this shape, the black one we created before, it's going to look more organic, so we can copy only this part in their, duplicate that, get hide the layer on the background, let's select that. Now we can add that shapes somewhere here so that still looks like it is part of it. You can even do the inversion, but I don't know how that's going to look like. But I really do like where these guards, so let's add some more details to these. I'm just going to make a small brush, very small and you all know that I really like adding these small lines and details things that don't belong there, but like noise that give the whole poster a little bit of more organic feeling and life that things are moving and nothing has to be so perfect. So I like doing that and with a shape that we created on this one on the background, that is another technique that you can learn and then try to master it and create more stuff. You can even start adding on that one, you can add some more noise so it looks more like organic. You can even apply more sharper, and you can even select one part of it, like for example, I can select this part here. And I can go to Pixelate, Mosaic, and I can create like a pixelated area of it so it looks like that. So this is the other poster we created and I think I'm going to create another one with the elements we got from Illustrator and also with the colors, with the gradient shapes that we created in Illustrator as well with a blunt tool. So I hope you still enjoying this, and this is pretty cool because there are like two techniques until now showing you how to make two different posters. 11. Third Poster: Hey, welcome back. As I promised, here's another poster. I'm going to try to keep this one short because there is not much to experiment here with but basically I got the shape we did before in Illustrator with the gradient. So here it is. I'm going to keep this one simple. I'm going to grab this pattern here, duplicate that and have it like these, like the colors of this one but what I want to do is maybe duplicate that. Go to "Filter", "Liquify". Let's try with this tool and try to mix it up and create some weird liquid effect in there and see how it's going to look like. Let's keep it there for a bit longer. I'm not sure how this is going to look like, but let's see. Let's change the overlay to screen like this. I'm going to make it black and go back to normal. I made it black and white. I'm going to bring it on the back. I'm going to go into brightness and contrast and I'm going to make it darker. So it's somewhere there. Let's have it like that for now. I'm going to create a new layer, get the brush tool and add some shadows in some of these lines in here. So this shape looks like it's in space. What else I can do now is I can get rid of that. Let's make this smaller. I don't like it big and I'm going to make this small. Going to get rid of the other one. Let's make a big square in here. Let's leave that black and this somewhere here. Let's go back in Illustrator and take one of these designs. Let's take this one and take it here. See what we can do with it. Sorry. I'm going to make it black and change the color of it. I'm going to bring it on the back of that and here we have it. I'm going to change here. I'm going to select. I'm trying to keep this as short as possible because I don't want this class to be long for you and it's going to get boring but I'm going to keep it here. I duplicate it only that part that I selected. Now we have only this part on the background where I like this where it got to in here. Now I can create a new layer and start with a brush tool and start adding some shadows on the back of that square there so it looks more like organic and more like in-depth on the background. We have also these shape, which I'm not really liking it for now. I'm going to cut only that part and add it somewhere here and have these in here but I am still not a 100 percent sure that I like it this way but now what you can do is select that one. Go to image, hue and saturation. You can play with the colors here and see I can change that a little bit so we can get some other colors like it here. It looks a bit different from the other one. That made a lot of change in there. I'm going to add few more. These are like some stuff that I most of the time use on the posters just to give a bit more feeling to the design. I'm going to add a few lines like this, just random ones. I'm just duplicating them and applying them this way. Let's make them a bit smaller. So it's here. What you can do, I'm going to go back in Illustrator and create some more shapes. If you go here. Let's get rid of these for now. I'm going to use this part to create a, let's say, square and make it black. Then I'm going to duplicate this and use a command D to duplicate that. So I'm going to copy that. Go back in Photo shop, paste in here and there we have the whole shapes, Command Shift U. I'm going to make it more into a dark. So we have these lines. What we can do is change the color. We get like that and see if we can feed it somewhere small because I don't want to have that much contrast with it. I'm going to get rid of the color and add it somewhere here. You can play around more with this. I'm going to try to add some text in here. Let's go back to Futura and let's try to type something like a big letter. I'm going to say B. I'm going to end it here. Basically what you can do now is you can continue using this poster and adding more and more stuff as you go along but I wanted to show you the technique in Illustrator, how to create these gradient text and keep adding stuff to it. A, going to duplicate that. Come here and U. So it's like that and you can still manipulate these text. I like sometimes to do it this way. Change the way how the fonts are. So they didn't have to be and duplicate that. I'm going to add a G in there. For this one, I'm going to add it on the background actually. So I'm going to go back in here. Maybe on top of this, so it's somewhere here but as you can see, this already looks not that bad and you can play even more around with it and try different stuff. This is what I came up with and this is what I created, but you don't have to be restricted and create something similar to this. Either the background there. So I can give a bit more of differentiated from the rest. Maybe I can make all of it like that, maybe not. But as you can see now, you can create so many cool stuff with this and what I want to do, I want to add some shadow in this part in here, but because this is transparent, it's just going to get in there. So what I want to do is I'm going to get a shape from there to there and make it bigger. Now I'm going to make this a bit lighter and have it like that and now in the background, I'm going to add some more shadow to the whole thing. Now if I want, I can select that, delete the part. So I have the new layer, I'm going to paint on the back with a brush and now I'm going to select the layer on top and delete only that part and uncheck that. So we have the shadow, but still the lines in there. I'm really liking what this came up with, actually and maybe what I can add more in this is that I can add some more details. I'm going to make the brush smaller, very small. Let's get the color to white and add a few more lines around the design like we did previously but this time I'm going to apply something else. Sorry for the noise of the track pad. This is an old mac-book Pro, am using it just for the tutorial, so it's not the best. So I have this, but what I want, I don't want them to be all whites, so I'm going to grab this thing we created before. I'm going to put it on top. This one. I'm going to expand it and make it big like that. Now I can do right-click, create clipping mask. Now we have like lines around with different colors depending on the gradient we had on that shape. You can try more with that and play around but this is what I came up with and I'm really liking these, actually, and also the other two. I hope you really enjoyed this tutorial. I know it has been different from all the other ones. I hope you learn something and I highly recommend as always that you play with a technique and come up with your own staff and create your own techniques and designs. I'm just showing you the tools and what you can basically do. It's completely up to you to create what you want. I'm really excited to see what you're going to create and I highly recommend that you submit what you are creating so I can give you some feedback and I can see where there is need for more work and I can give you feedback on that.
