Hi, nice to meet you! I'm Sarah Tan, a Malaysian Product Designer and AR Specialist based in Australia. Previously, I designed digital experiences for Google, NASA, Facebook, Adobe, and more. I am passionate about creating meaningful and delightful user experiences as I believe that design is a powerful tool of influence.
On the side, I am passionate about pushing innovation in the immersive industry, particularly Augmented Reality (AR). I love experimenting, pushing the boundaries of AR/VR, and seeing how we can combine design with AR to achieve exciting outcomes.

Hands-on Class Project
Create your own face filter to be published on Instagram or Facebook, ready for the world to enjoy!
I will be bringing you through the creation of a filter shown below. You can experience the live filter through this link (Insert link to published filter). This filter is inspired by spreading positivity to the users through bright colours and fun hand-drawn illustrations.Â
The techniques in this class offer infinite possibilities for you to create a wide range of filters and have complete creative control over them.
Materials you will need:
- Windows or Mac laptop/computer.
- SparkAR - Download it for free here: https://sparkar.facebook.com/ar-studio/download/
- An Instagram or Facebook account
- Mobile smartphone with ‘Spark AR Player’ downloaded from Google’s or Apple’s app store.
- Optional: Cable to connect your mobile phone to your computer.
- Optional (Can be done digitally): Printer and paper to print out the templates provided.
- Optional (Can be done digitally): Pen to write on printed templates.
