A Mixed Media Canvas - No Drawing Required!

1. Welcome: you know I am. Sit on. Welcome to make extra cash in your drawer. In this course, I will show you how to make this canvas utilize in several different mediums. Collage, critic, painting, transfers. 2. Lesson 1: Adding Collage Paper: for this lesson, you're going to need your canvas Collage papers, Matt Medium and a paintbrush begin by tearing your collage papers into strips. Removing straight edges allows the paper to blend seamlessly into the background. Apply a liberal coats of Matt medium to the area off the canvas on which you will be sticking the collage. People begin sticking down Collage papers going over them with more Matt Medium. Keep going until you have covered the entire canvas, including the edges. There are so many types of paper you could use for the background. I love old books. There's something about the yellowed paper that just adds character to what? Every year. Working on old maps, handwritten letters, old notebooks and receipts are some of the hidden treasures you may have laying around off course. There are store bought collage papers, scrapbook papers and tissue paper. It really is what you prefer. Chair off any overhangs and set it aside to dry thoroughly. 3. Lesson 2: Adding Color: in this lesson, we will begin adding color to our canvas. I am using yellow Oakar Titan, both on pearl from Golden, but you go ahead and use whatever you like. Dilute the pain with a little water and paint the entire canvas. Now add tight above, paid to the center, blending the edges carefully. This is where you will be put in your transfer. It is important to keep the area light to prevent the transfer from being too dark. - Now this is dry. We were at some pearl pain to the center of the canvas. This time, however, we will use an old gift card to spread out the paint. It will leave some interest in lines on the canvas at in great texture. Many of the best texture tools are items we have laying around the house or something we would normally discard ADM or yellow paint to the canvas and self on the edges. At this stage, you go back and forth, adding paint and blending until you're happy with your canvas. 4. Lesson 3: The Photocopy Transfer: in this lesson, you'll be adding your photocopy transfer. Keep in mind that your design will be in reverse. If you want to stick down a word, for instance, you will have to apply the flip or mirror image. Setting in your software first carefully cuts your picture out, removing any areas that you don't want to apply to the canvas. Quote the canvas on the image with Matt medium and stick the image face down on the canvas . Use an old gift card to go over it. To remove any air bubbles, try not to get Matt Medium on the back of the transfer. If you do no worries, just wipe it off with a damp cloth or a wet wipe. It's very important that you dry thoroughly before moving on. Now it's time to remove the paper from the back of the image, spray with water and gently rub. It's people start to come off. If you had applied my medium to the back of the image, it would have sealed the paper. Thus not allowing the water to soak in on the paper to rub off. This part takes time and patience. But you don't want to rush it as you could remove a part of the image by mistake. You may have to go over it several times, but each time the image will become brighter. 5. Lesson 4: Adding Colors and Texture: in this lesson, we will work on the background. We will be using a variety of tools to add interest in texture to the canvas. Let's begin with rubber stamps using your favorite rubber stamp and some waterproof black ink stamp in random areas on the canvas. Allow this to dry thoroughly. Now we will use your plastic lid and some red paint. Dip the plastic laid into the red paint and stamp on the canvas. Step back if you need to on allow your intuition to take over. Do we need more red hair or there You will soon get the hang of it. Our next extra tool is bubble wrap. Paint the bubble side up with white paint and stamp onto the canvas. Wants again using your intuition. Where do you think more white is needed? If you ever find your artwork is looking a little dark. This is a great weight at White to lighten it up. Now, to finish off this lesson, we will add more paint to the edges and sides of the canvas When you are happy. Put it aside to dry. Yeah, 6. Lesson 5: If your Image is Hazy : Sometimes as a transfer dries, you may notice a haze form over it. This is simply a thin layer of paper that is left on the image, and you can remove it just as before. Spray the image with water and ever so gently rub the image with your finger. Until that final bit of paper comes off, allow the canvas to dry thoroughly before moving on. 7. Lesson 6: Grounding Your Image: When you have an image in the middle of a canvas, it can appear as if it is floated. In this lesson. We will ground the image by adding a layer of black ink to the base. You will need your black ink pad and a makeup sponge. Add some ink to your makeup sponge and apply around the base and edges of the canvas. Add as much or as little as you choose way - Sometimes . an area may get too dark to lighten it up. Use a damp cloth or a wet wipe and gently rub the canvas when you are happy with how it looks dry thoroughly. No, we will give the canvas and aged look using Walnut Inc Remember, if you don't have walnut ink used diluted sepia paint or an ink pad such as vintage photo by ranger, paid the edges at sides of your canvas with ink and dry when you are finished. - If the canvas becomes too dark after adding the antique ink, you can easily add some white paint to lighten it up. You will need an old toothbrush with white acrylic paint water on a paper towel to cover your image dip the toothbrush in the water and then the white paint. Cover the image with paper toll and splatter the paint by pulling your thumb over the bristles. Add as many splatters as you like and dry before moving on. 8. Lesson 7: Adding Gold Leaf as an Accent: in this lesson, you will at gold leave to your canvass. Historically, gold leaf was used for the decoration of art and picture frames. You will use it. Accentuate your mixed media canvas. You'll need your A D sieve on gold leaf flakes. Decide where on the canvas you want the gold. Leave on paying with a decent. Allow this to dry until clear, and then press on the gold leaf flakes. - Leave that for a bit to completely dry. Now use a soft, personal pain first to gently rub the extra. Cool the flakes away. If you like, you can distress the gold leaf by using appointed tool to scratch the surface. 9. Lesson 8: The Finishing Touches: in this lesson, you add the finishing touches to your canvas. I decided the image needed something to sit on, so I added a strip of collage paper under the image, using Matt Medium to stick it down here. - I know that the collage paper is dry. Apply Inc and blended with the background. This is vintage photo by distress inks, using a makeup sponge at the red paint that you used earlier to the edges of the canvas. The's finishing touches are tying all the elements of the campus together around the edges again with the blacking our line, the image with a charcoal pencil on gently rub with your finger or a paintbrush outlining the image helps it stand out on the canvas. - No paid the base the edges of the canvas on the sides with walnuts in dry your canvas thoroughly painting the image with a glass. A critic, blazing fluid or glass varnish or Decca particles such as mod podge will increase the intensity of the image, making it more bold. Simply use a soft paintbrush to paint the image and dry thoroughly.
