But if you have, the word s in the middle where that goes in front of everything. So you would say it. Varga s So the s comes first, it s and then the time phrase Come, come first out of everything else. So it vata s Morgan. If your power coffin literally I will it tomorrow for Paul by So the it goes first in front of everything, no matter what. And then the time phrase Congar first after you've got me it out of the way. You just add an s to the end So d seven years would be the souvenirs. So how would you say in German? The souvenirs here are very expensive De souvenirs here. Isn't there Toya de souvenirs here? Isn't there? Toya? How would you ask? How much is a souvenir or literally? How much does a souvenir cost? We fear Crossed it in souvenir vv across that I'm souvenir. 9. 3 Minute German Lesson 36h: How would you ask In German. Where are the souvenirs? Wasn't the souvenirs row is in the souvenirs? Are you going to buy a souvenir for me? Vanzi. I'm souvenir family coffin guarantee on souvenir for me coffin? Or how would you ask? Do you have any souvenirs? And don't forget. You don't need to say the word for any in gym. And you just ask, Do you have souvenirs having dizzy souvenirs happens, he souvenirs. Now this last phrase is somebody might like to get a souvenir for Minamata. Minamata means my mom in German Minamata. So how would you say in German, I would like to buy a souvenir for my mom. It came after in Slovenia. Fail minor motor Kalfin. It marked a in Slovenia fell Minamata Kalfin. Or how would you ask? Where is my moment? Voiced minor motor voiced minor motor. Now I've put a vocabulary expansion section at the end of this lesson with a list off family members in German. Just remember that if it's a masculine family member or a neuter family member, the word for my will be mine. If it's a feminine family member or a plural family member, the word for my will be minor just like with minor motor. If you use the word fear, then the words for my change slightly. Similarly, if you use the word meat, they change too. Let's have a look at how the words my change after the words feel Andi meat. So the muscular inward for my by itself is mine. The feminine word is minor. The neutral word is mine. On the plural word is minor so mine for masculine nuta and minor for feminine and plural. Now, if you place any of these words after food, they all say the same except for the muscular word. The masculine word for mine changes to mining after Phil. So it goes mine in minor mine and then minor. So they're all the same except for the masculine word which is mining So fear mining in the masculine after the word mitt where they all changed after meat, which means with you get mine m for the masculine minor for the feminine mine, um, again for the neuter and mining in the plural. So that's a bit of a tricky one. So normally it's mine. Minor mine. Minor After the word feel the masculine word for my becomes mining. And after the word meet meaning with we get mine. Um, minor mine, um, and mining. 10. 3 Minute German Lesson 36i: We've just seen that before. Words for my are mine minor, mine and minor. So for masculine and neutral words, you say mine and for feminine and plural words, you say minor. But then after the word fear which means for the masculine were becomes mining and after the word meat, meaning with all the words for my change. So we get mine, um, minor my name and mining. So let's have a look at an example of this in use If you want to say dad in gym and you say fart er a fighter and it's spelt v a t e r. Fattah and obviously it's a masculine weird. So he is my dad. You would say Air East mine. Fatah air is to mine, Fatah. But then, if you want to say it is for my dad, well, the word for my after the word four changes so mine becomes mine in on we get assist, fill mine and fighter assist film mine and fighter. If you want to say I am with my dad when you say it's been mitt mine um Fattah it's been met Mine and Fatah. So you have mine by itself. Mining after fear and mine m after Mitt So in English It's just my dad, my dad, my dad in all the sentences. Whereas in German you can either say mine Fatah mine and fighter or mine, um, fighter, depending on what word comes before it. So it's mine fighter. It's just feel mine and fighter. It's been mitt mining fighter and I don't worry. If you get these wrong, you'll still be understood if you mixed up the words for my But it's useful to know because if you ever see the word or hear the words mine, um or minor or mine and then you know why. So how would you say in German? My mom is here tomorrow. Minor motor ist Morgan here. Minor motor Is Morgan here? So you always put the time word in front of the place word. So your zealotry in German. My moment is tomorrow. Here, Minamata. It's Morgan here. Or how would you say I have ordered a pizza for my mom? A Harvard on a pizza from minor motorbikes dealt the harbor and a pizza feel Minamata best dealt. So the feminine word for my, which is minor, doesn't change after the word feel. So you just say a car buying a pizza film. Minor motor. Bushnell 11. 3 Minute German Lesson 36j: How would you say in Jim and I have something for my mom. But she isn't here. It had a at first feel minor motor. Allah is es nicht here the harbour at first film in a motor arbor. Zia's Nick here. How would you say my mom is in Germany? Minamata ist in Deutschland, Minamata east in Deutschland. Or how would you say I'm going to have dinner with my mom tonight? Glittery. You'll say I will have dinner with my mom tonight. Nevada Quitter. Arvind, That's Arvind Essence. Mitt Minamoto Harmon. He had a waiter. Our bond, That Sergeant s and Mitt Minamoto Harmon. And so you have to say minor Mota because the word mitt comes before it. How would you say my mom is here? Minor motor east here. Minor motor east here. My mom isn't here. Minor motor is need here. Minamata is Nikita. So in this lesson, we've had Kalfin meaning to buy s coffin, which means to buy it toria meaning expensive. It of us. Which means something. I know Post Carter, which means a postcard belief Marken means stamps. Or you can also use it to mean some stamps or any stamps I am. Souvenir is a neutral word, and it means a souvenir. And then Minamata means my mom. And we also lent that the words for my are mine. Minor mine. Minor after the word for which means four, the masculine word mine becomes mining. And then after the word meat, all the words for my change. So we get mine. Um, minor, my name and mining. So don't forget to apply those rules when you use any of the words in the vocabulary expansion sheet for family members. 12. 3 Minute German Lesson 36k: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. And for some of these translations, you might need to have a look at the words on the vocabulary expansion sheet for friends and family members. How would you say in German? How do you say in gym and something h mus something from the city or something from the town? Eight of us fund a shot, something good. Eight of us Go Otis. Something German at first Deutsches. Now here's a useful phrase that you'll hear quite a lot in Germany. Escaped, escaped. It means there is or there are escaped. So how would you say in German, there is a postcard here. Escaped on a post Carter here escaped on a postcard to here. Or how would you say there is a good restaurant here? A skipped in Gatti's restaurant here escaped in Gatti's restaurant here. How would you say there is a supermarket there? And just so you know, the phrase escaped is similar to the phrase it murder in that the masculine ein becomes einen or mind becomes mine in or dare becomes Dane. So if you have a masculine noun, you have to change the word for the or my. So the word for supermarket is masculine. So how would you say there is a supermarket there? escaped in a Supermax Daut escaped an invisible marked taught. Or how would you say there is something very beautiful here. Escaped at first They're shown is here Escaped at first they're shown is here. So after FFS, If you want to put an adjective, it has to have a capital letter and you put E s on the end. So sure means beautiful. But after adverse, you say adverse sureness. Even if there's a word there in the way you say adverse Zehr sureness Something very beautiful escaped adverse zehr sureness Here there is something very beautiful here. 25. 3 Minute German Lesson 38b: How would you say in German? I'm not going to eat here at the hotel tonight. There is a restaurant straight ahead and the food is delicious. There he had a waiter. Arvind here in Hotel Nikto s. A skipped on restaurant. A hothouse owns that essence is like a goat. It covered a waiter. Arvind here in Hotel Nix Essen Escaped on Has a hunt. Guardhouse on the essence is like adored. Well, how would you say there is a restaurant at the hotel? Escaped Investor hunt in hotel A skip time has a hunt in hotel. Now the phrase escaped means there is all there are. But we contain Escaped into a question quite easily by flipping the words around. So escaped in a question becomes gift s gift s and give it s means is there or are there So how would you ask? Is there a hotel here? Gift s I'm hotel here. Give tests in hotel here. Or how would you ask? Is there a supermarket here on Don't forget. Just like with escaped gift s is a word. Like if motor in that the line becomes island mind becomes mining and there becomes Dane if you have a masculine noun in a sentence. So is there a supermarket here? Gift? It's on a superb Paktia. Give tests on and Super Mac here. Or how would you say What is there? Vaz? Keep test Vice. Skip Tous, Is there something for me? Get this at first. Feel me. Give test at first. Feel me Or how would you ask? Are there any stumps? Get this belief, Marken, And get this belief. Marken. 26. 3 Minute German Lesson 38c: in this lesson. So far we've had escaped, which means there is all there are Andi gift tests which means is there or are there. And we also learned that both of these phrases are similar to a murder in that the masculine words for the or my change So Ein becomes einen dare becomes stained. Andi mine becomes mine in If you have a masculine noun in the same sentence as escaped, we'll give death. Now here's your next phrase for this lesson in their near in there. In there it means nearby or close by in their near literally it means in the vicinity. So in the near. So how would you say in gym and it's nearby. Assist India near assist in their near The hotel is very close by and thats hotel. It is there in their near That's hotel is there in their near it isn't close by. It's just nicked in their name. It's just nicked in there. Near. Is there a restaurant nearby? Get test! I'm has a hunting. Dana, give Tess. I'm hasta hunting. There. Near there is a supermarket nearby. They skipped Island Supermax in Dania escaped Island supermarket in Dania What is there close by basket test in there. Near vice. Skip tests in Dana. The car park isn't close by. And the word for car park is packed. Platts. And it's masculine and pack plats literally means the parking place. They're parked. Platts ist nicht in their name. They're part Platts ist nicht in there near. 27. 3 Minute German Lesson 38d: Now we've had quite a few phrases where the masculine word for the or my changes with Murtagh, which means I would like the thing that you would like while that changes if it's masculine , with escaped or gift s, which means there is or there are or gib test, which means is there are other. The thing that there is well, that changes if it's a masculine down. And here's a verb Xeon Zeon, which means to see. And this also makes the masculine noun change. So Ein becomes Enon. Mine becomes mine in and dare becomes Dane as always. And so it's only with masculine noun is that this change happens on the thing that you're seeing is what's being changed. For example, if you want to say something like, I can see the supermarket well, the supermarket is what you can see, and it's a masculine noun. So you change the world forever from Dare to Dane can then bookmarked Zane Candian diplomats in. But this is only with masculine nuns. So how would you say in German? Can I see the menu, please? On the menu is a neuter known, so you haven't got to worry about the word for the can. It does me new bitters in can. It does mean you bitters. An so it doesn't mean you is the menu. How would you say I'm going to see it if Nevada zan various Zane, can I see it? Canada s is a in can be Castilian. Are you going to see Maria tomorrow? Vanzi Morgan mafias An Madden? See, Morgan Maria's in what time you go See Paul, Convince your vanity powers in Vo Van de Pas, Ian. Or how would you say I'm not going to see it? Nevada as Nick Zan If Vera as next season are you going to see the cathedral in Berlin on The word for cathedral is a masculine noun and it's dead Dorm Vanzi Den Dorm in beddings in veterans the den dome in Berlin Xeon So we changed dare dorm to Dane dorm because it's the thing that we're seeing And after the very busy in the masculine words for at the and my change. So in this lesson we've had escaped meaning there is or there are gift s, Which means is there are there in the end there nearby or close by and then Zeon, which means to see. And we can add s Z in as well to the less because s zayon means to see it so you can put the word s in front of any verb and it's the same as adding it to the end of it in English . So can it s a in. Can I see it? 28. 3 Minute German Lesson 38e: it's time now to practice the words and phrases that we learned in this lesson. How do you say in German what you want to see at the Town Centre on the way for Town Centre is stat central and image stats, and Tom would be at the Town Centre. How do you say in German there is or there are escaped Is there or other get death nearby or close by in their Nair to see Zam to see It s Zan Now here is a good phrase that we can use to ask a question in German East s east s means is it now German is just like English in the sense that you can simply switch Where's around to make a question So in English it is becomes is it And in German s east becomes east s And we can get things like east s goot Which means is it good or is it s here? Meaning is it here? And so you can just switch the two words in s east around to get east s So how about you ask in German? Is it good? Is this court It's that good? Is it here? Is this here? He says here is it for me. It's just fill me. Does this feel me? Well, how would you ask? Is it good for me? Is this good for me? Is this good film and so s East means it is. And you can switch those two words around and get east s. Which means is it? Well, the phrase dust east means that is and so we can do the same here. Does East means that is? But you can switch them around and you get east duhs East death. Which means is that so? How would you say in German? Is that for me? It's that fill me. It's thus fill me. 33. 3 Minute German Lesson 39b: How would you say in German? Is that everything? It's does Alice East us. Alice. Oh, how would you ask? Is it in Germany? Is death in Deutschland East s in Deutschland? Is it nearby? Is this in the near? Is this in the near? So in their near means nearby in German. Well, here's the opposite. Invite fight. It means far, right? So how would you say in German? Is it far? Is this right? If this fight, we can add a couple of extra words to the word Right on. We get fight from here right from here means far from here. So how would you say in German? The restaurant isn't far from here. Thus restaurant is nicked right from here. Thus I stand is nicked right from here. I think it's too far from here. Fill me. Is that to fight from here? Fill me. Is that too right from here? That is too far from here. That is to fight from here. That is to fight from here. There is another word that we can add to fight to make a lovely little phrase in German, Right, Vic, Right, Vic. It means far away and said the word Vek means away. Or it could just mean way as well. So fight. Vic is far away. So how would you say in German? Is it far away? Is this right? Vic is despite weak. 34. 3 Minute German Lesson 39c: How would you say in gym and it's very far away. Assist their fight, Vic. It is their right, Vic. See if you can work out how to say this in gym and using the phrases we've just been learning. It's very far away from here. Assist their fight back from here. It's just there, right back from here So you can put foreign here on the end off right, Vic. And you get far away from here. Invited back from here. How would you say in gym? And I think it's too far away from here. Fill me. Is this to fight back from here? Fill me. Is this to fight back phone here? It isn't far away. Ist nicht fight. Vic ist nicht right quick. Now here's your next word. In German. It's an adjective and its interests int interest sent. This means interesting interes int. So how would you say in German? Everything is very interesting here. Alice is their interest. Shantia. Alice is their inter santa. So in this lesson, we've had East s. Which means is it right? Meaning far. You can save ICT from here, which would be far from here, right? Vic means far away. Nick is a things like Vita Vic phone here which would be far away from here. And then interest sent means interesting. So how would you say in German? It isn't very interesting. Assist nicked their Inter sent. It's just make their inter sent. Or how would you say Maria is interesting. Maria Is inter sent? Maria? Is inter sent? 35. 3 Minute German Lesson 39d: How would you say in German? I think it's very interesting. Fill me. It says they're inter sent. Fill me. Is that there? Inter sent Everything is always very interesting here. Alice is Emma's a interest. Santa Alice is Emma their interest? Shantia? Everybody here is very interesting. Yemen Here is their interest sent Yemen here is their inter sent. Is it interesting in Berlin? Is this inter suntan Valium? Just as Inter something very in. Is there anything interesting in Frankfurt and in German? If you want to say anything interesting literally you have to say it's something interesting. So don't forget to put a capital letter on the adjective on an E s on the end. Give tests adverse interest. Scientists in Frankfort get test adverse interest centres in Frankfort. That is interesting. That is interested Int That's his interest sent. Paul is interesting power is inter sent. Powell is interest Int Paul isn't very interesting. Power is nicked. Their Inter sent Powell Is Nick there and I sent Oh, How would you say Maria is always interesting. Maria is in their interest. Int Maria is emit. Inter sent 36. 3 Minute German Lesson 39e: now here's a useful word in German Merkley Mickley, or mainly to the word Mercury, by itself, means possible on May neglect to means possible to now you can use Moodley by itself to say things like It isn't possible. It's just nicked me ugly. But this word really becomes useful if you use it with the word to. It's a slightly tricky concept to understand at first, for example, the word, but Salin means to pay or pay. We've already seen it in these sorts of examples. Can eke dehecq noncombat Salin, Which means can I pay the bill or it marked a D hiking on. But Salin, which means I would like to pay the bill. However, if you want to use the word murder glee in a sentence, you have to use the word sue in front of any verb. The verb always goes to the end of the sentence. And so you get Merkley, too Medley jitsu, which means possible to just remember that the verb goes to the very end of a sentence. So everything else goes in the middle, have a look at these sentences is de smugly Morgan Seubert silent. Is this Milly Morgan Super salan. This means is it possible to pay tomorrow? But literally. It means is it possible tomorrow to pay? And you have to put the word soon in front of the verb after you use mercury. Is this murder Glick, Morgan, Seubert, Salman Or look at this example. It's this Merkley owners of young here to s. And is this Mercury owners of young? He had us in this means is it possible to eat here without a reservation? Or literally, It means is it possible without a reservation here to eat, they have to use the word sue in front of the verb Essen because we've used merrily in the sentence. So no matter how many extra things are in the sentence, the very always goes to the very end. So we've got s and at the very end on because we've used Burghley, then you have to put Soo in front of the web. So how would you say in German? Is it possible to try the wine? Is this Milly Dane Vine? Superb. Yellen is this miracle Extend vine su propia. So we've got literally Is it possible the wine to try on? Because we've used Merkley. We have reports to in front of the verb. Is this mercury then vine support beyond, Or how would you say? Is it possible to see it now? Is this Mercury s yet? Suzanne, is this Milly s yet Tuesday in? So there's a in goes to the very end of the sentence on because reviews Merkley, we have to put Soo in front of it. And so literally it means, Is it possible it now to see Is this Milly s yet? Suzanne? So this might seem like a tricky concept, and it is. But the more you practice, the more you'll get used to it. Whenever you say is Desam illegally, is it possible? Or whenever you use mercury in a sentence, If a verb comes after it, we have to use the word stool, and the verb has to go to the very end of the sentence. 37. 3 Minute German Lesson 39f: How would you say in German? Is it possible to hire a car? Here is this May click on Outta here to meeting Is this mechanic and auto he had to meeting so literally were saying, Is it possible a car here toe higher? And we have to put Soo in front of the Web? Is this mercury? I'm outta here to meeting. There's one little thing to note when you're using mercury to If you put Soo in front of the VEB four Nayman, which means to make when you're making a reservation, then instead of 24 name and you get four soon Ayman Ford soon Ayman, the little to gets eaten up by the verb. Well, look at the reasons for this weird thing in a later lesson. But for now, just remember that if you put Soo in front of four name and it becomes four to Nayman rather than sue for naming, for example, if you want to say is it possible to make a reservation? You would say in German. Is this Milly? China has availing fourth So Nayman is this murder like China has a feeling for two name and how would you say in German, it isn't possible to make a reservation assist. Nick Merkley, I know has a very long fourth Soon Ayman assist Knicks. Merely China has a very long fourth. Soon Ayman so literally were saying it is not possible a reservation to make on the two instead of going in front of the verb gets eaten up. And it's just with this one verb. So SS Nick Merkley, I know has a going forth soon, Ayman. So with all the other verbs that we've learned so far that soldiers goes in front. But with this one, you get fourth soon, Ayman, rather than stool for Neiman, How would you say in German it was not possible to make a reservation for three people s varnished medley? I know it has a V a long field, the high pale zone and forced to name and as Vernick smugly I know has a villain for two high pills on and four to Neiman and so literally were saying it was not possible A reservation for three people to make and again the two goes in the middle of this very rather than in front. So as my next Mikelic China has a feeling feel the hype, calzone and forth. Soon, Ayman 38. 3 Minute German Lesson 39g: How would you stay in germ and it's possible to do it tomorrow. Is this Merkley s Morgan? So Markon, Assistant Mercury s Morgan. So Markon, so literally. It means it is possible it tomorrow to do. And the tool goes in front. Off the Macken, which goes to the end. It is Merkley s Morgan so much now. Merkel Jitsu means possible to therefore Merkley film. Me too must mean possible for me to for example, is this medically filmic Morgan? Stupid, silent means. Is it possible for me to pay tomorrow or literally? It means, is it possible for me tomorrow to pay? Is this merely filmic Morgan too? But salan so medically filmic means possible for me to. So how would you say in German? Is it possible for me to try the wine? Is this Milly filming? They invited to problem on? Is this merely feel mixed? Environ soup Obeah So literally. This sentence means is it possible for me the wine to try And because we've said Merkley, the vein has to go to the end on the word so has to placed in front off the web. Is this Merkley filmmaking invited to problem Or how would you say? Is it possible for me to see it? Now it's that smugly filming as yet. Suzanne, is this Milly filming as Yes Suzanne. So literally It means Is it possible for me it now to see Is this Moodley filmy as yet, Suzanne? Or how would you say, Is it possible for me to hire a car for three days? Is this Milly filmic? I am out of fear the high title to meeting. Is this merely filmic on out or for the high tiger from eating so again Literally. This sentence means Is it possible for me a car for three days to hire on? Because I've said possible that we have to put Soo in front of the very which goes to the end of the sentence. Is this merely filmic on auto? For the high targets to meeting 39. 3 Minute German Lesson 39h: How would you say in German? It isn't possible for me to do it now. It's just nicked, merely filmic as yet. So Malcolm, this is Nick Merkley feel me as yet. So Markon Salutary. It is not possible for me. It's now to do. How would you say it wasn't possible for me to buy it? It was too expensive as far. Nick Merkley filming as So Kalfin. It's about suit Toya as my nick, smugly filming as to Kalfin. It's about Satoya, so that's what this means. It was not possible for me. It's to buy. It was too expensive. And so after the semi colon, we've got a second clause, which could be a second sentence. And so the verb to buy goes to the end of the first chlor to the first sentence. It was not possible for me to buy it as varnished Magli filmy s to Kalfin. And then the second bit is it was too expensive as fat suit Toya. And so we have the word salt twice in this sentence in German the first time, it's because the word Merkley is used. And so we have to put stool in front of the verb which goes to the end of the first part of that sentence s var nicked mercury filmy esto Kalfin. But the second school means to as in t o. So too was in too much s facts to Toya. How would you say in German everything is possible. Alice ist me ugly Alice is Moodley, so you can just use possible by itself in German and just say Merkley, you haven't got to use a verb with it. And so it's coming. Just used as an adjective. How would you say in German? Is it possible for me to have to stamps? Please? Is this merely filmic? It's my brave mark and better to happen is this merely filmy spy Behave Mark and bitter to having Is it possible for me to change it? Is this made like filmic s to end them? Is this merely filming s to end them? Is it possible for me to go without you? It's just merely filming on a Z. So again it's the smuggling Filming on a seat again? Well, how would you say, is it possible for you to go without me? It's this medically filthy on a mixed again is this Milly feels the only me to again. And so I said gay in in these sentences. But you could easily say Fallon, if you're talking about going in any means of transport. So in this lesson, we've had East s meaning. Is it right? Which means far right from here, far from here, right, Vic, which means far away fight back from here far away from here. Interest sent. Meaning interesting, mainly to possible to and mainly film me too. Which means possible for me to Onda whenever you use, Assist me ugly, or is this merely with a verb? Then the VIP has to go to the very end of the sentence. And you have to put you in front of the web unless the verb is four name. And in which case, the word sore goes in the middle and you get forceful Nayman 40. 3 Minute German Lesson 39i: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How do you say in German? Is it possible for me to eat here? Is this Milly filming here to s? Is this merely feel me here to Essen. Is it possible for you to do that? Tomorrow? Is this May Glick field the That's Morgan Tamarkin. If this may click filthy dust Morgan's American. Is it terrible? Is this likely? Is there strictly? I think it's very interesting. Fill me. Is that they're interested int fill me. Is that there? Inter sent. How would you say the theater is far from here? Thus Diatta is vital from here. Does stay outta east right from here The supermarket isn't close by. There's a poem. Act is nicked in their Nair. There's a poem act ist nicht in their Neha. The post office isn't far from here. The post is nicked white from here. Deposed ist nicht right from here. Is it beautiful? Is this soon? Is that soon? It's too far from here. Is this too right from here? Assist to fight from here. Is it East s far right? Far from here. Right from here. Far away. Right, Vic? Interesting inter ascent. Possible to may click to possible for me to merely film me too. Now we've already had the word n Dan, which means to change. However, there is another way to say change in German and that's vixen Vixen. So this also means to change Vixen. So now we've had to ways to say change. But there's a slight difference between the two. The would end damn means to change as in to modify something whereas vixen means to change as in to exchange or to switch something Let me give you some example Sentences ik meta data has a very long and dan It moved. It did has a feeling end down. This means I would like to change the reservation. As in, I would like to make a modification to the reservation so you're just making a small change to it. Here's an example of a sentence with the verb vixen. If Muktar Dane Tish Vixen it murdered ain't ish vixen. This means I would like to change tables as in our like a whole new table to switch tables . So end down is to make a small modification to something whereas vixen is to change something as in debt, A whole new one. So to exchange or to switch. So how would you say in German? I would like to change tables And just note that when you use the word vixen it's one of those situations where dare becomes Dane. I in becomes island and mind becomes mining. It marked a Dane Tish Vixen it Myrtle Dentition Vechten So literally in German, you don't say I would like to change tables, but you keep it singular and you say I would like to change the table. How would you say, Can I change hotels? And so don't forget that in English when you want to change something, you tend to say this in the plural like change tables or change hotels. But in German, you leave it in the singular and you say, change the table or change the hotel Kan ik. Thus hotel vixen connect us hotel Vixen 45. 3 Minute German Lesson 40b: to help understand the difference between Endon Andi vixen. Let me show you an example that I used to get my head around it. It marked It does out. Oh, vixen means I would like to change cars and this means I would like to get a whole new car . So you're swapping your car. It connected us out. All vixen he committed as out of Rendon means I would like to change the car as in your like to modify it somehow. So maybe you'd like to change the paint color, or you'd like to decorate it. So it most best alcohol endon, means I would like to change a small part of it. So vixen is to change to get a whole new something on end. Um is to change as in to modify it. So how would you say in German? I'm going to change cars? It prevented us out of excellent it, Nevada. That's out of X in. Do I have to change tables most extent Ish Vixen. Mustique Dentist Vixen. How would you ask? Can I change rooms? Can it just simmer? Vixen can eat dust. Sima Vixen. Are you going to change hotels? Very easy does Hotel Vixen Vanzi That's hotel vixen. This next word is always a useful want tohave if something goes wrong. I am problem. I am problem and it means a problem. And it's a new tent known. So I m problem is a problem or the problem would be dust problem. So how would you say in German? I have a problem. A harbor. I'm problem. It harbor. I'm problem. And so the line stays as a nine because it's a neuter noun. If it were a masculine noun, then obviously it would become einen. But Newt announced the I N just stays as it is with the phrase harbor. So a harbor. I'm problem. I have a problem. 46. 3 Minute German Lesson 40c: How would you say in German? There's a problem with pool. They skipped. I'm problem. Mitt Powell A skipped on problem. It Powell. Well, how would you say there is a problem with my car? Escaped? I'm problem Mitt Minamoto a skipped I'm problem Mitt Minamoto. So the word for car out all is a neuter word. And after the word meet new to announce the line becomes einem. The dust becomes Dame Andi the mind becomes mine. Um so Mitt Minamoto, how would you ask? Is there a problem, Mr Wagner? Gift design problem here Wagner gift is I'm problem here. Wagner. There is a big problem in humble today. Escaped uncle horses problem goiter in Hamburg escaped on courses Problem Twitter in humble . So the word goiter goes in front off Hamburg because Toyota is the time Andi in Hamburg is the place. And then the word gloss, which means big, becomes in courses because problem is a neutral word. And don't forget that when you have an adjective in front of a neutral word, then you have to Porton e s on the end of the adjective escaped on horses. Problem Horta in humble or how would you say? What is the problem? My sister's problem versus does problem. Now this is also a nice little phrase toe have and to memorize kind problem kind problem. It means no problem kind problem. So how would you say in German? No, no problem. Nine kind problem. Nine kind problem. 47. 3 Minute German Lesson 40d: we've just seen that kind problem kind problem means no problem, Onda. The kind of it in kind problem means no, as in not any. So the phrase escaped kind escaped kind means there isn't or there aren't any so escaped kind. The word kind is basically the opposite off the word eine eine means one or are and kind means none or not a. Therefore you can use kind in the same way as you use Ein. What I mean is that there is a masculine, feminine and neuter vision. So kind is the masculine version kinda. China is the feminine version and then kind. It's also the new division, so kind kinda cane now, just like with I'm the masculine word kind changes to kind in in the same sort situations as I'm becomes Island. So after phrases like food, it Muktar escaped etcetera. Therefore, the phrase escaped kind changes to escaped kinda if it's followed by a feminine, known or escaped Kainan. If it's followed by a muscular unknown and in fact, it only stays as escaped kind. If it's followed by a Newton on. So how would you say in German, there isn't any wine or literally. There is no wine. They skipped kind and vine escaped kind and vine. So vine is a muscular noun. Therefore, we have to use kind in after the phrase escaped escaped kind and vine. Or how would you say there isn't a television on the word for television in German is a Newton known and its fans in fans in they skipped kind fans. IAM They skipped kind fans Ian. Or how would you say there is no problem. Escaped kind problem. A skipped kind problem? How would you ask in German? Can I change rooms? There's no shower can eat, just simmer. Vixen escaped kind of Lucia. Can it just simmer? Vixen escaped kind of Lucia. So the word for Shower du Sha is feminine, say is a kind of Lucia. 48. 3 Minute German Lesson 40e: How would you say in German? Excuse me, There's no water and shooting escaped kind Vasa and surely going escaped kind Bassa. Now here's your last phrase for this lesson. In named Simmer in Dame Simmer, it means in the room in dense immer. So how would you say in German? Is there a television in the room? Give this iron fans a and in dense, ever gift assign fancy an Indian cinema. We'll have a dress. Can I eat in the room? Candy. Indian symbolism Can it in them to Marissa, Are you in? The room is in C. Indem. Sima isn't see in them. Simmer or it could be more informal as a base to in them. Simmer. How would you say in German? Excuse me, There's no bed in the room and shooting escaped kind. Bet in, then simmer. And surely gong escaped. Kind better in them. Simmer well. How would you say it's in the room? Assist Indem, Seema assist Indian summer. It wasn't in the room. It's varnished Indian cinema. It's varnished in them. Simmer. So in this lesson, we've seen and then meaning to change as in to modify something vixen, which means to change as into exchange or to switch something. I am. Problem means a problem, and it's a neuter noun. Kind. Problem means no problem or literally not a problem. Escaped kind means there isn't. All there aren't any on the word kind can change, depending on whether it's followed by a muscular now a new turn on or a feminine noun. It's a masculine noun. Then you say escaped kind in a feminine known you say escaped Kainer, and a neuter noun is just escaped kind. And then we learned Indem Simmer, which means in the room. 49. 3 Minute German Lesson 40f: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How do you say in German? Are you going to change tables? Vanzi. Dentist Vixen Ven Ze dentition Vixen. Is it possible for me to change rooms? Is this May Glick filming dust similar to vixen? Is this merely filmic dust? How do you say in German to change as in to modify something and in to change as into exchange something vixen. A problem. I'm problem. No problem. Kind problem. There isn't any or there aren't any. It's gift kind in the room. Indian summer. Now we've had the word so before, and we've seen that it can mean both to as in t o or two as in t double O. But let's add a little bit more to the word tool on we get the phrase so feelem so feel lamb. It means too much noise. Su feel means too much on the lamb is noise. So when you haven't a with a normal out, you pronounce it a. So it's lamb, so feel. So how would you say in German, there is too much noise. Escaped to Feelem escaped Sofyan lamb. There is always too much noise here. Escaped him. A Sufi lamb here escaped Emma Sophia Lamb. Here it's good, but there's too much noise. This is good. Other escaped Sophie lamb. It is good. Other escaped to feel them. Do you want to go to the hotel? There is too much noise here. Warren Zients Hotel game escaped. Sophie Lamb here. Volunteer in. So tell again. Escaped Sophie Lamb Here. Is there too much noise for you? Give us a Sufi, Lamfalussy. Give us a Sufi Lamfalussy. 54. 3 Minute German Lesson 41b: How would you say in German there's too much noise in my room. Escaped Sufi lamb in mind and simmer. It skipped Sufi lamb in my name's Emma. So the phrase in dame simmer means in the room The word dame means the so if you want to say in my room while you have to have the same ending as dame so you will have mine. Um, in mine Um simmer. So Sofia lamb means too much noise. This next phrase su feel Akhalkalaki su feeler cackle. Aachen means too many cockroaches. Sue feeler Akhalkalaki. So how would you say in German, there are too many cockroaches in the room Escaped So feel Akhalkalaki in Indem Simmer escaped to feel Akhalkalaki, Indem, eczema. Or how would you say there are too many cockroaches here? Escaped Sufi Akhalkalaki in here escaped Sufi Akhalkalaki In here. It's beautiful here, but I think there are too many cockroaches. It is shown here are very filmy. Get test, Sufi Akhalkalaki. It's just sharing. Here are before me get us to feel Akhalkalaki. So in this lesson, so far we've had to feel lamb which means too much noise. Onda to feel Akhalkalaki in meaning too many cockroaches. So you probably noticed that we've used so feel too mean too much on that Sofia to mean too many. Well, you can put any singular noun on the end off so feel too mean, too much of something. And you can put any plural noun on the end off so fila to mean too many, for example to feel vine means too much wine to feel tension to most chicken Sufi, the cotton. This means too many currents. So so feel is too much and Sophia means too many and you can use them by themselves. You haven't got to put a now in the end. So, for example, you could say something like S ist so feel filmy, which means it is too much for me. 55. 3 Minute German Lesson 41c: now Remember many moons ago near the beginning, off three minute German that we said the word pales on and means people. Well, you can probably guess what this means. Sufi lapels on and Sophie lapels on. It means too many people Sophie lapels on. So how would you say in German, there are too many people here Escaped Sufi lapels on in here Escaped to feed repairs on in here There are actually a few ways to say too many people in German. The first phrase Sufi lapels on it is just one way. The word pairs on and means people. But we also have a second and 1/3 word. So Sophie lapels on and means to many people Sufi loiter to feel that loiter means too many people. So loiter can also mean people Andi so Fila mention so feel a mention author means to many people and you can use them all interchangeably. So Sufi lapels on and so feel a loiter, Sufi dimension all mean to many people. So what would the three different ways that you can say this sentence be? Berlin is very beautiful, but there are always too many people there. 1,000,000,000 is zesa. I've escaped Emma to feel appeals on and door Oh, Bellen is possession. Other escaped image Sufi loiter, Don't or Bellion is possession. Other escaped emerged to fill a mentioned How would you say, I think there are too many people there. Fill me, get test Sufi lapels on and to feel a loiter or Sufi Lee mentioned route. Fill me, get test Sufi lapels on and loiter mention dote. There are always too many people at the restaurant escaped, emit to feel appeals on and in Master Hunt. Or give him a Sufi loiter in Hiestand or, you could say, escaped image to fill a mention in Hasn't. So you now have three different ways to say People in German pales on um, loiter, Andi mentioned. Obviously, you don't have to use all three. You can just pick your favorite and use that one. But be aware off the other two so that when you're listening to German or reading German, you'll know what they mean. Here's own and loiter. Mention 56. 3 Minute German Lesson 41d: so so feel means too much on Drosophila means too many. Well, we can take off the two from each of these phrases, and we're left with field and Fieler, which both mean a lot off or they can mean much or many just like with to feel and so feeler. You can use any singular noun with feel, and any plural noun with Fieler feel can either mean a lot off or much. Whilst feeler can mean a lot off or many, for example, feel vine can mean a lot of wine or much wine, feel fine or feel. Tension filled attention can mean a lot of chicken or much chicken and then feeler cotton feeler cotton means a lot of parents who are many carrots. How would you say then, in German, there is a lot of noise. Escaped feel escaped. Feel lamb. There are lots of people here. It's kept feel it pales on in here or escaped filler. Loiter here or escaped filler. Mention here. How would you say there is a lot of wine here? Escaped Feel vine here escaped field vine here. Or how would you say in German? Why do you have a lot of cars. Val home having tea feel outdoors, Val home having tea fill out O's. Or of course you could say Valle, whom has to feel the outers if you're speaking to somebody you know a bit better. Well, how would you say in German? I would like to eat here, but there are lots of cockroaches in the restaurant it marked here s in Aber escaped feel Akhalkalaki and Crestor hunt. It marked a Here s in other escaped feel Akhalkalaki in restaurant, so feel means much or a lot off. And feeler is many or a lot off. So you can for any singular noun on the end of field and any plural noun on the end off Fieler. 57. 3 Minute German Lesson 41e: How would you say in German, there isn't a lot of cheese. Escaped. Nicked. Feel. Keyser escaped. Nicked. Feel Keyser. Well, how would you say there is always a lot of food here? Escaped? Emma, feel s in here. Escaped. Emma, feel s in here. Now, here's your last word for this lesson. Dhingra or Dhingra too. Dingo to means things too. Dhingra. Soon Now, remember how a couple of lessons ago we had murdered early to mid ugly tool, which meant possible to. And I said that whenever you use murder, glee with a verb, you have to put Soo in front of the next year. For example, assist Nick Merkley here to belive in assist Nick Merkley. He had super liven, which means it isn't possible to stay here literally. It is not possible here to stay. And so the verb goes to the very end of the sentence and you have to put the word to in front of it. That's why it's to live in Well, the same thing happens with Dhingra. If you want to put a verb after dinger, then you have to use to in front of it. So for example, if you want to say there are lots of things to do. Then you would say in German escaped Feel it, Dingle to makin escaped feeler dingers to Mackin. So the word sue has replaced in front of the verb, even though Mackin means to do, you have to still put the extra two in front of it in German after you use dinger, just like with mercury. So how would you say in German? I have too many things to do it. Harbert, Sophia Dingle. To mackin it hover to feed a dinner to mark in. So the suit has to go in front of the verb Macken. Or how would you say in German, there are lots of things to eat. Escaped filleting gah to s and escaped feeler dinger to s. And so again, you have to put the word to in front of the VEB Essen. Let's get filler dinger to s and 58. 3 Minute German Lesson 41f: How would you say in German there are lots of things to see in Germany on, just like with Mercury tool, the verb has to go to the very end of the sentence on everything else goes in the middle and so you Absolutely There are lots of things in Germany to see escaped filleting gah in Deutschland. Susie in escaped fielding a in Deutschland Suzanne. Or how would you say There are always lots of things to do? Instruct guard. But there are also lots of people. It's get Emma fielding and stood cats Tamarkin ever escaped. Our fill appears on or you could say feeler, loiter or feeling Mention escaped. Emma Fielding you instruct cards. Tamarkin Abbott escaped out. Feel appears on or loiter or mention. How would you say in German? I bought lots of things to eat yesterday. Now this sentence is a little bit tricky. At first you have to verbs in this sentence I bought and then you've got to eat. And both of these ribs are eager to go to the end. If you treat it as two separate things I bought is one thing on, then lots of things to eat. Yesterday is the other thing. You have to put the I bought or the harbor Get Helft around the outside of the other bit. So the harbor will get the very beginning and get coughed. Would go at the end. And then everything in the middle is the lots of things to eat. Yesterday part. So I bought lots of things to eat yesterday. We have a guest, them feel a dinger to s and Gecov. We have a guest. Then feel a dinner to S and D coughed. Well, how would you say? Do you have lots of things to do happening? Defeated in your stomach? In happens the fielding at something. There aren't a lot of things to eat. Escaped neat feeling. Dinner to Essen escaped, Nicked fielding its us. Um so in this lesson, we've had Sufi lamb meaning too much noise. Sufi Akhalkalaki in which means too many cockroaches. Sophia means too much Onda. The plural sue feeler means too many. And then there are three ways to say Too many people we can either say Sufi loiter to feel that pales on and or to feel a mention they will mean too many people the way I feel can mean a lot off or much, and then the plural filler can mean a lot off or many. And then Dhingra Su means things, too, and you can put any verb on the end of that. 59. 3 Minute German Lesson 41g: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How do you say in German? Can I change rooms? There's too much noise in my room. Connect us. Similar vixen escaped to phylum in mining Simmer. Can it just simmer? You can say to feel appeals on in here or so Philip mention here It's his Children. Other escaped Emma to feel a loiter here. How would you say in German? There's a lot of food here. Escaped? Phil s in here. Escaped. Feel s in here. I think there are lots of things to do. Fill me. Get us fielding a Tamarkin. Fill me. Get this feeling It's American. There isn't a lot of wine here. Everybody escaped nicked. Feel vine here for Yemen. Escaped nicked. Feel vine here for Yemen. Do you have things to eat at the hotel having the import tending to Essen. Haven't the Hotel Dingle to Essen. I've put that dinger after in hotel in this sentence. Just because the dingo to us in part, sounds nice minutes together. So the dingo too. If you can keep that together, then try and do that. We haven't got you. So you could say having the dinger in hotel to s. And But you do have to put the two s and at the very end. So either you can say, haven't the motel digger to s and or having tea dinger in hotel to Essen. How would you say in German, there is too much noise at the hotel. Escaped. Sufi, Lamine hotel escaped. Sophie Lamine Motel. There are too many people, and I don't have a lot of food. Escaped to feel appeals on when it have a next feel. Are you going to see the cathedral? 63. 3 Minute German Lesson 42a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap of the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in German, Too much noise to feel them? Too many cockroaches so feel Akhalkalaki in too many people. Sufi loiter a lot off or much feel things to dingers, too. Now here's a very useful joining word in German. Then then it means because then so how would you say in German, I'm not going to eat here because the food is terrible. It very here nicked Essen. Then that's essence is strictly It's very here, nicked Essen tenders. Essence is strictly I'm not going to the beach because I'm too tired. You can it firsthand. Then it been Sumida. If get nicked some stand, then it's been Sumida. I'm very busy because I have lots of things to do. It's been zebra chef ticked, then it have a feeler dinger to Mackin. It's been Zaba chef ticked. Then I have a feeling dinger to Mackin, and so in this sentence, because we use Dhingra. Then we have to put the word sue in front of Macken. It have a feel it dinger to Macken. How would you say in German? I'm not going to buy that because it's too expensive. It varied us. Mixed Kalfin, then assist suit Toya It read us Nick Kalfin, then assistant suit Toya. So the word to can also mean to as in t o And so in German soup come in to as in t o. You have to use it after the word Dhingra Andi It can also mean to as in t o And so to feel for example means too much or suit Toya too expensive. 64. 3 Minute German Lesson 42b: How would you say in German? Can you pay? Because my car doesn't work? Currency. But Salin, then my Nakata fortunate sneaked currency. But Salin, then my Nakata from Tony ethnic. I don't like that because it's green it Magda sneak. Then it is goon it, Magda, sneak. Then assist Grune I like it because it's beautiful. It mag s then it is too soon. It mag s then assist. Soon. Now we've had Ik harbor, which means I have Well, here's the opposite eHarmony it Harbert Neat means I don't have or I haven't literally. It means I have not a hobbit need. So what you can do is replace any phrase that has a harbor in it with carbon eat to make it the negative. So how would you say in gym? And I haven't ordered it? Have a nick pistol, a hobbit nick pistol, So it harbor bush dealt. Means I have ordered we have to do is replace it harbor with a cabinet. It haven't nicked prosthetic. Or how would you say I haven't eaten today and in German? If you have time phrases, then generally you can put them in front, off neat and so you can say in German. I have today not eaten so the next can come after any time. Phrases it have a hoity Nick Gessen. You have a hoity Nick Gessen. If you didn't put the Nique after the time phrase, though it doesn't really matter if you said it have a nicked Oita Gessen it means the same thing. All it does is it means you emphasize a slightly different part of the sentence. So it harbor Hoyt. Anethe Gessen means I haven't eaten today. But if you said it harbor Nick Toy, take a guess in Well, that would mean I haven't eaten today, So it's the same as emphasizing a different part of the sentence in English. But if you can try, remember to put the nikto after any time phrases. How would you say in German? I don't have many things to do today. It happened. Oita need to feed a dinner to mark in it, have a Toyota nicked feeding a Tamarkin 65. 3 Minute German Lesson 42c: how would you say in gym and I don't have a reservation, But I would like a table for two Now, in the sentence you have, I don't have a which would be in German, it Harbert nicht eine. But the phrase nicht eine is not too well liked in Yemen. Instead, they prefer to use a word that we looked at a few lessons ago. The word is kind now, as I said before, the word kind is basically the opposite off the word fine. So fine means one or are on kind means non or not. So if you say I don't have I have not, uh you say in German car by kind. And I don't forget that there is a masculine, feminine and neuter version off kind. So kind is the masculine kinda is the feminine on kind again is the neuter, but the masculine. The top one kind can also change to Kainan if you use it with phrases like it, Muktar. So if you have the phrase I don't have a in English, you should say it have a kind in German. So let's go back to that sentence. I don't have a reservation but I would like a table for two. It have a kinda because of young of a Makdah en and T shirts by it. Harbor Kinda has a few hung over it? Meta Annan tissue first by How would you say I haven't tried the pizza? A Harvard? A pizza. Next pope yet a car body pizza. Nick Pope. Yet I haven't paid the bill It Harvard. The heightening Knicks Petzold A comedy heightening Nick Petzold. I haven't eaten a lot today, so don't forget that the word for today has to go in front. Off the would need it have a Heitor nicked field. Gessen it Have a waiter nicked field against sin. I haven't ordered the wine it. Harvard in vine Nick Crystal. It hovered in vine. Nick pushed it. 66. 3 Minute German Lesson 42d: How would you say in German? I've ordered for me, but I haven't ordered for you. It hardly feel meek estate. I have a Nick Foles eBay state a harbor filmic prostate are big harmonic for a zebra state . Here's your next phrase in German did side or decide to It means the time to decide soon. Now the word did site can be used by itself in sentences like this. It harbor nicked, did side and it means I don't have the time. Or instead of saying nicked did side, he could use kinda because site is a feminine words they use kinda. It have a kind of zeit means I have no time and you can use them interchangeably. Sorry, Carbon Nick did site or have a kind of site. Now, this is the third phrase we're going to learn that requires you to port soon in front of any very that comes after it. So far, we've seen this done with the word murder Glick, which means possible onda also Dhingra, which means things like when you want to say things to use a dinger to or possible to is mercury to well now, did site also needs to in front of any very that follows it. So decide to means the time to now. Don't forget that the word four name in which means to make as in to make a reservation becomes four soon. Ayman. So this is the only web where to doesn't go in front of it instead with four name and the two ends up inside Fort Soon Eamon, for example. I don't have the time to make a reservation would be a car. But Nick did site I know has a Via Hong four to Neiman it. Have a nick decide. China has a very forceful Nayman where you could say I have no time to make a reservation. It have a kind of site I know has A via Hong Force to Neiman it have a kind of site I know has a very long four. So Nayman how would you say in German? I would like to do it, but I don't have the time. It marked as Macken arbor a harbor Nick did site or you could say it marked as Macken are. But it have a kind of site. How would you say I don't have the time to do it. Now they have a Nick did cite as yet. So Mackin it have addicted site as yet. So Markon. 67. 3 Minute German Lesson 42e: How would you say in German? Do you have time? Tomorrow happens it side, Morgan. Having decide Morgan now, just like in English, you can say, Do you have time or do you have the time? They both have the same meaning happens it side Morgan or having to decide. Morgan, how would you say in German? Do you have time to go to the beach today? Having the tight Oita some stance again have indeed site equated some stance again. So that would sue has to go in front of gain because it's used after its site. So, do you have the time today to the beach to go? I have indeed site hoisted some stands to gain. Well, how would you ask? Do you have the time to do it for me now? Having seeded site as yet, filming Tamarkin happens. He did side as yet. Still me to American. So I've already said that a carbon kaine were in the feminine havoc. Aina mean I don't have any Literally. The word kind means not any And so a couple of lessons ago when we learned no problem is kind problem. What it literally means is not any problem kind problem. And you can use kind for the masculine or neuter or kinda, for the feminine with any noun to mean Not any or not. For example, it harbor kind of site. He had a kind of site. Means I don't have any time. It harbor kind gate. It have a kind gate. Means I don't have any money. The word kinda. It can also be used for the plural. So e kaba kind of pointer it have a kind of pointer Means I don't have any friends. You have a kind of pointer. So how would you say in German? I don't have any cake for you. It have a kind and cool conf LZ. It had a kind and Kukan guilty. So caulkin is masculine. And so that's why we use Kainan after the phrase it harbor. If you had a feeling dinger to s and bring in, it's Nevada feel it gives us an opinion. And so this sentence is quite tricky because you've got to ribs in it on. They both have to go to the end. But if you break it down, you have two parts I'm going to bring, which is the Nevada opinion and the buying and has to go to the very, very end of the sentence. And then in the middle you have what it is that you're going to bring, which is lots of things to eat. And in German, that is, feel it dinger to s. And and so that goes in the middle, it vada feeling into s and playing in compared to feeding its who s companion. Now you can change the verb banging into the past tense and you get it, harbor. Goodbye. It Harburg a perfect means. I have brought it harbor Good draft. And so go back. It goes to the end of the sentence. So how would you say in German? Then, instead of saying it is too far you have to say she is too far. So announce in German are either masculine, feminine or neuter. And when you're a fairing to them, if they're masculine, you call them he if their feminine, you call them she Andi. Only the Newton Ounce. Can you call it in? English recalled. Everything it. But in German we have. He she and it is so literally this sentences. I would like to go to the butcher, but she is too far from here and I don't have a car he committed in the flash high again. Feeling making exactly if you make Nick fantastic arbor. If you'll make next directly, I don't feel fantastic. But I don't feel terrible. 75. 3 Minute German Lesson 43a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap off the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in German? Because then I haven't Oh, I don't have it. Harmony. I don't have any. He have a kind the time or the time to did side or did side too. So there were two goes in front of anywhere that comes afterwards with me. Mitt, Mia, I haven't reserved or I haven't booked. You have er nicked as of yet to bring going in. I have brought you have a good behaved. I haven't brought it. Harbor next, governor. Now in this lesson, we're going to learn a bit off grammar and we're going to learn about the past stints. The past tense in German is fairly easy. There are two parts here is an example off it in use with names for each part E kaba Dumb aft. It Harburg, um aft means I have done ik harbor, which means I have is a no auxiliary verb. And then the math, which means Don is a past participle. You can change the word gum aft, which is the past participle toe. Any passport is will you like? And then you change the meaning off the sentence. For example, instead of saying it, Harburg um act we can say it harbor the coughed, which means I have bought or a harbour defrag, which means I have asked it have exact means. I have said you've probably noticed that all the past participles start with G E on end with tea, and this is something that you'll see a lot off in the past tense. Here's how to form the past participle. Step one is to put G E in front of any verb and then step two is to change the e n on the end of the verb to a t. So your lotus that verbs in German end in the letters E n So if you change those to a T, then you get the past participle. For example, spielen spielen means to play well. Report a girl in front, sir g e on. Then we change the e n on the integrity and we get Ingush build. Gosh built means played Voronin Voronin means to live Voronin. So if you put a G e in front ago and then we change the e n On the end to a tee we get government, government means lived or the Web Kalfin Kalfin means to buy Kalfin So again, to turn this into a past participle report a g e in front on we change the e n to a t and we get good coughed Good coughed means bought. So you put a G e in front of any verb and then change the n on the end to a T and you get the past participle. Spielen Gosh Built Voronin Government Kalfin get health. 76. 3 Minute German Lesson 43b: We've just learned that to form the past participle in German. There are two steps. Step one is to put G E in front of the verb on. Then Step two is to change the e n on the end of the verb to a T. So see if you can change these verbs into past participles. Mackin, which means to do it becomes gum act, which means done flagon means toe ask. It becomes defunct, Which means asked Voronin, meaning to live. It becomes government, which means lived. Kalfin means to buy. It becomes good Helft, which means bought. So we just put a G E in front of the web on we change the e N to a T good coughed Zaken means to say guys act means said Call him means to cook good cocked means cooked and will be one more spilling, which means to play. It becomes gosh built, which means played. And then all you have to do is put it harbor in front of those past participles to form a sentence in the past tense. So how would you say in German? I have asked the harbour defect, Ihab, give fact, I have played Kaba Dispute A hamburger spilt. I have bought Ihab get coughed the car but the coughed. Now instead of saying I have or harbor or the time you can change sentence by changing the auxiliary verb And so you can change a harbor Tu du hast for example. So it harbor means I have du hast means you have a hot at means he has ze hut Z hat means she has Powell hat Powell a hat means pool has via Harbin via haven means we have yapped you hopped means you have z ha been. Is he Harbin means you have and then z Harbin with a lower case s means they have. So these are the different auxiliary verbs and we comport any of these in front of a past participle to form a sentence in the past tense in German. Now you might be wondering why there are three different ways to say you have on explain this in the next lesson. 77. 3 Minute German Lesson 43c: We've just learnt all the auxiliary verbs in German. We had a harbor du hast a hat Z hat power hat via Harvin. Here happed is the Harbin and the Harbin, which mean I have you Have he has she has Paul has we have. You have you have and they have. And I said you might have noticed that there are three different ways to say you have. We have du hast you helped and z Harbin in Germany, there are three different ways to say you. We've already had ze in three minute German courses on We have been using that one for everything so far. However, there are also the words do Onda ear do is used only when you're talking toe one person whom you know very well. So if it's a friend of yours you can use do in olden English we used to have the word vow and that was used with friends. So do is the singular, informal way off saying you, if you're speaking to more than one person, you know very well you can use the word ear instead. This is basically the plural version off the word do so If the word do is classed as the singular, informal way off saying you then the word ear is classed as the plural, informal way of saying you Finally, there's Z with a capital s. This word is used whether you're speaking to one person or more than one person, and it's generally used with people you don't know so well. It's considered the formal way off saying you in German and you can use it for singular and plural situations. So if you're talking to one person, you know very well you do. If you're talking to more than one person, you know very well use here. Andi, if you're talking to anybody you don't know, you should use the If in doubt, I would use Z and you won't go wrong. So how would you say in German? I have bought Ik Harbor dick oft e hobbiton Helft. So we have good coughed, which is the past participle. And then it harbor, which is the auxiliary verb. How would you say you have bought? Either you could say do has to get coughed. He Ahab coughed or is a harbinger coughed depending on whether you're speaking to one person two people and also depending on whether you know the person or you don't know the person very well. So du hast coughed is informal and singular. He Ahab coughed is informal and plural. Andi Harding The coughed is singular or plural. When you're speaking to somebody you don't know very well How would you say in German he has bought air had coughed had you coughed? She has bought is he had a coughed Z had coughed 78. 3 Minute German Lesson 43d: How would you say in German? Paul has bought Powell had coughed. Powell had good Helft Maria has bought Maria had coughed. Maria had coughed. We have bought via Harbin. Gecov Viet Harbinger Coughed. They have bought. Is he Harbin be coughed? Is he having coughed now? So far, we've learned that if you want to put a verb into the past participle in German, you simply put a G e in front of the verb and you change the e n on the end to a T. For example, Spielen, which means to play, becomes gosh built, which means played in English. The way we form the past participle is generally to add the letters E g to the end of a verb. For example, play becomes played, jump becomes jumped or visit becomes visited. However, this doesn't work for all verbs. Look at eat for example eat becomes eaten so we don't say heated in English. We have to say eaten. In fact, there are lots of verbs that you can't just put an e d on the end off drink in the past isn't drink, but drunk right isn't righted, but written swim becomes swarm, See becomes scene se becomes said, tell becomes told and have becomes had in English. It sometimes seems like there are more verbs that don't follow the rule, then verbs that do father rule Andi. Unfortunately, this is the same in German, too. Although the rule is to put G E in front of a verb and change the E n at the end to a T. There are lots of verbs that don't follow this rule. In fact, in German, because there are so few verbs that do follow the rule, they have a special name. Verbs that do follow the rules of putting G e at the start on T at the end are called weak verbs. Here is a list off 14 so called weak verbs that actually do follow the G e T rue about how often means to need global one means. To believe Kalfin means to buy Lebanon means to learn Xueqin means to look for muffin means to do or to make Kagen means to ask. Voronin means to live. Zaken means to say, or to tell caulkin means to cook Spielen means to play Leven means to love. Valin means to choose on for Logan means to follow in English. We tend to call verbs that follow the rule regular verbs, all of these verbs that are on the screen. All 14 of them are weak verbs in German, which means you can turn them into past participles by putting a G E in front of them and changing the E n on the end to a T. So But Haakon becomes global house, which means needed. Glavine becomes globe, which means believed Kalfin becomes a good coughed, meaning boat. Landen becomes gallant, which means lent Xueqin becomes goofed, meaning looked for muffin becomes gum act. And that means don't or made flagon becomes Ghaffar act meaning? Asked Volen becomes government meaning lived. Sargon becomes guys act, and that could mean said or told. Cauchon becomes good coughed, and that means cooked spiel and becomes gosh build, which means played. Leaving becomes good leapt, meaning loved valin becomes Veldt, which means chosen Andi for Logan becomes good. Focht, meaning followed. So that's 14 examples of German weak verbs. That means verbs that follow the rule to form the past participle Eurosport G in front and change the E n on the end to a t and you get the past participle on. All you have to do now is put an auxiliary verb in front of any of these and you have a sentence. For example, a harbor Gosh built I have played or du hast gallant you have learned, or the Harbin government, meaning they have lived. 79. 3 Minute German Lesson 43e: we've seen 14 examples off so called weak verbs or regular verbs that do follow the room well. The other group of verbs is those that aren't regular or they're not weak, and in fact, in German. They call them strong verbs in English. We call these verbs irregular because they don't follow the rules. Unfortunately, in German, there are quite a lot of strong ribs, and they are quite commonly used. I'm not going to give you every single gym and strong verb. I'll just give you a handful for now to get you going. So here are 25 strong verbs in German or 25 irregular verbs that don't follow the normal G e T rule to form the past participle. Now 25 verbs might seem like a lot of verbs on DIT is, but it's best that you start to get used to them early on. The's verbs are very commonly used, so you'll see them a lot. You don't necessarily have to learn them all in one go, because that would be very difficult to do. But if you can recognize them when they're in use, then that's a good start. So 25 irregular German verbs start with behind in which means to bring Kenan meaning to know. Listen, which also means to know Kenan means to know when you're speaking about knowing a person visit in means to know when you're speaking about knowing anything else. So Kennan means to know just with a person beginning means to begin. But I reckon means to break Denk in means to think s and to eat for guessing means to forget Fongern means to catch gave in means to give health and to help name and means to take Lezin is to read Z um to see sh laughin means to sleep. Sky vin means to write Zynga to sing striken, to speak Staying means to stand targetman means either toe wear or to carry Typhon means to meet Tink in means to drink Phil Ian means to lose ahead in is to talk and our beytin means to work. So that's 25 irregular verbs. That's just the infinitives. But now I'll show you what they are as past participles. So barington becomes good draft which means brought canon becomes good, can't meaning known vision becomes goosed which also means known. Remember you can't means known. When you're speaking about a person and about anything else you use divorced, Beginning becomes the gunman, which means begun, I reckon, becomes the boffin. Meaning broken denk in becomes good left. And that means thought Essen is Gessen in the past, meaning eaten for guessing. Well, this in the past doesn't change for Gessen is for Gessen Sofa guessing coming to forget and for guessing can also mean forgotten Franken means to catch and that becomes gulf Angan meaning court gave in becomes good given and that means given health and becomes go wholphin, which means helped name and becomes good Norman And that means taken Lezin becomes girl Aisin meaning red Xan is to see And in the past it becomes Guzan which means scene sh laughin becomes dish laughing which means slept skydive in with means to write becomes gosh crab in meaning written Zinkhan becomes goes London which means sung shipwreck in which means to speak in the past becomes Gush Park in which means spoken stay in means to stand on gashed andan means stood tog in becomes good target and it means worn or it can also mean carried. Stephan becomes good Toffan. And that means Mitt Tank in becomes good. Tonkin, which means drunk for Leon, becomes forlorn, which means Lost Hayden means to talk and go ahead. It means talked. And finally, our beytin means to work. Andi Ghar bite. It means worked. 80. 3 Minute German Lesson 43f: 25 Irregular German verbs might seem like a lot to remember, so to make it easier, we can split them up into small chunks. Let's start with two off the 25 which aren't too regular. The two not so irregular verbs are Beytin and Hayden are beytin means to work on. Aiden means talk. In the past, they become good are bite it, so that's not too irregular. We still put the G E in front, but instead of changing the E N to a tee, we change it to a new E. T. And that's because it is already a t on the end off our bite when we take the E N off. So our beytin means to work and get a bite. It means worked, so that's not really a regular. The second verb like this is a Hayden Hayden, which means to talk, and in the past we get go hated so again we still have the G e at the start. But instead of changing the E N into a T, we change it into an E. T, and that's because if we just put a T on the end, you would have a d n a t together, which is quite hard to pronounce. So Hayden means to talk on and go ahead. It means talked. So these 1st 2 verbs are hardly irregular at all. The only reason they're in this list is because the e n on the end of the verbs is changed to an E. T rather than 80. But the G is still placed on the front. The next seven verbs are seven verbs that just get a G E in front. So with these seven verbs to form the past participle or you have to do is put the G E in front. You don't need to put a T on the end, so Fangman means to catch, and that becomes goof Angan, which means court given means to give. And in the past that becomes good given meaning, given Lezin means to read. And in the past we get delays in. So we just put a G e in front and delays and means red zam means to see, and that becomes Guzan, meaning seen. So all these verbs, we just put G e in front and do nothing else to the verb to put it into the past tense. Sh laughin becomes Gosh. Lafon, which is sleep on slept social, often means to sleep on Gosh, laughing means slept Target means to wear or to carry on. A good target means worn or carried. Now this last verb skydive in which means to write, becomes grocery Been So this one, the EI in the middle becomes an i e. So it becomes Gish Kleban on. We still put the G on the front that's slightly more irregular. Scriven means to write on Gosh, craven means written. When you have the letters I e together, you pronounce it. I so chic I been when you have the letters e I, then you pronounce it e So gosh, Craven Craven Wish Craven. So with those seven verbs or you do is put g e at the start. There quite easy to remember the next verbs are 14 verbs that have a vow change when you put them into the past. And so I've underlined the vowel change in all of these 14 verbs. The 1st 1 is philia Han, which means to lose. This becomes forlorn fellow on so the i e becomes an O for Leland Follow on beginning means to begin. Well, this becomes begun in which means begone So beginning begun on the I becomes an O But I him Barican means to break that becomes Guba Hoffan meaning broken head often means to help That becomes Godolphin meaning helped Zinkhan means to sing and that becomes goes London meaning song. So even in English you'll notice the vowels change sing song begin begun Shipwreck in means to speak in the past becomes gosh park in which means spoken so even in English speak spoken in German Shpak in gosh Parken Stay in means to stand on that becomes guest andan which means stood typhon means to meet get tough in means met thinking means to drink good Tonkin means drunk So again this is like an English drink drunk the vowel changes tank in got Oncken Nayman means to take and this becomes good Namen which means taken bring in means to bring and it becomes good Behalf, which means brought Kenan means to know as into never a person on good can't means known vision means to know goosed means known And finally denk in means to think and in the past , it becomes good act, so you'll notice. In this group, the vow in the original verb changes the first to Philly Ellen on beginning. Just have a vow, change and nothing else. So Philia and becomes for Lohan Beginning becomes begun. The next eight have just a girl at the start and they also have the vow change. So Bracken got broken health in Godolphin Zynga in Gaza Mangan sprechen spoken stain ghost andan traf In get often drinkin Get Duncan name and good Norman. So the first to the vow changes In the next eight you get a vowel change and you put a good in front. And then these last four get a girl and you also get a t at the end as well as the vowel change. Bring in good draft Kenan, you can't visit divorced Denk in left. So as I've said, this vow changing phenomenon happens a lot in English to when you form the past participle like sing song break, broken, drink, drunk And then the last group is a really easy group s and and for Gessen s and becomes a good lesson on DFA. Gessen becomes for Gessen. So s and means to eat. Gessen means eaten for guessing, means to forget and it can also mean forgotten. So I've put these last two verbs in their own little group as they are very similar s and just gets a g e g at the start. Good Gessen on DFA guessing doesn't change it all. So that's all 25 verbs broken up into four groups for easier learning. Go through all these verbs and see how many of past participles you can remember already. If you write them all down on cue cards, put the infinitives That's the whole verb on one side of the cue cards on. Then turn it over and write down all the past participles. So the two not so irregular verbs are Hayden and our beytin. See if you remember what they are in the past, the seven that just get a good are Zeon Lezin Skydive in fang gun sh laughin target on Gaiman. So these words are easy to member in the past because you just put good in front of them. Then we have the 14 that have a vowel change Fill Ian beginning brexton health and Zynga on spike in stay in toughen drinkin name and bringing Kenan Vision and Denk in. So these ones are a bit harder to remember. See if you remember what the past participles of all of those bibs are. And then the smallest group s and un forgets in well, they contain s and and forget him. So don't worry if you can't remember all the past participles for all 25 off these verbs yet keep practicing, and eventually they get more and more familiar until you can remember them by yourself. 81. 3 Minute German Lesson 43g: How would you say in German? I have thought carving. Adopt the harbour. Deduct You have forgotten. Do has to forget or you're hopped for guessing. Or was the Harbin for guessing? He has slipped. They had cash. Lafon a hat. Cash Lafon she has given. Is he had given? Does he have to be given? Paul has eaten. Powell had a Gessen pound. How to get him. Maria has brought Maria Had good bereft Maria had left. We have worn via Harbin. Guitar gun via Ha Been guitar gun. They have worked. Is he having got a bite? It is he having got a bite? It? I have spoken economic. A spoken Ihab you have taken Du hast Kinnaman Or perhaps God nomine or Z Harbin Gonnerman. He has caught. They had a fungal. They had to go find him. She has Red Z articulation. Does he have to kill Aisin? 82. 3 Minute German Lesson 43h: How would you say in German? Paul has helped power. Had the Wholphin Powell had a wholphin Maria has lost. Maria had for Lohan. Maria had for Lohan. We have met via having get off in via Harbin. Get Toffan. They have broken. Is the Harbin Go Balkan Z Habana Parken? I have seen it. Ha Bergesen e Kaba cuisine you have written. Do I ask Excl? Even? Yeah. Happy because Cleveland is the harbinger. Screamin, he has drunk. I had good Tonkin air had got Tonkin. She has sung Is he had a sunburn? Z had Dungan Paul has talked power had to go hate it. Powell had graded Maria has started. Maria had begun in Maria has begun. We have forgotten via Harbin for guessing via Harbin For Gessen they have eaten Is the harbinger Gessen is he Harbin Gessen? 83. 3 Minute German Lesson 43i: we've seen now the week verbs. That's the verbs that are regular, where you just put a G in front of the verb and change the E n on the end to a T to form the past participle. We then saw the strong verbs who do their own thing. And now there's one more group of verbs that do something else to form the past participle . Our call, these verbs, the even verbs because they all end in Even or i e or E n. Here are five examples of era in verbs. What about he Oven means to fix or to repair. Do the oven means to study for To get a fever in means to take a photograph. Poor be Evan means to try or to taste. Has a Vietminh means to reserve or to book. All we have to do with the even verbs to turn them into past participles is change the even on the end to yet, So the i e r e n on the end becomes I e. Rt, for example, about heaven becomes Hope area, which means fixed or repaired. Studio one becomes studio it meaning studied. Fotografia becomes photograph. Yet which means taken a photograph. Poppy Evan becomes pope yet and that means tried or tasted. Onda has RV. Evan becomes, has of yet which means reserved or booked. You might be thinking that we've already seen an even verb we have. We've seen Philly even, but that's the only old one out. So Philly even spelt v e r l i e or e in means to lose. And we've already seen that for Leon becomes forlorn in the past Participle. That's the only odd one out. But the rest of them or you do is you change the eon to Yet Now the thing with the past tense in German is that the past participle always goes to the end off the sentence. So you say the EQ Harbor part first on the past participle goes last, everything else goes in the middle. Therefore, how would you say I have reserved a table it harbor einen Tisch has of yet carbine and Tich has of yet so literally I have a table reserved. How would you say I have photographed pool a harp of power for 2/2 yet it have a powerful took off, Yet I have studied a lot today. It happened. Oita feels to do yet a carbohydrate if used to get 84. 3 Minute German Lesson 43j: How would you say in German? I have fixed the car. Harba does out Ooka Perry it it habit us out appropriate. I have tried everything. Meaning I have tasted everything. Ihab al is poor bl it harbor Alice Pope Yet I have lost the car. It harbored us out off alone It habit us out off their Lohan. I have chosen Ihab aggravated The carbon prevailed. Paul reserved a table yesterday. Powell had guessed an identity as of yet Powell had guessed then. Einen t shirt As of yet Maria has brought some food with her. Maria had s and media graft. Maria had s and media got craft. They have forgotten everything. Is he having Alice for guessing? Is he having Alice for guessing? She chose the red wine. Does the hat den Hort vine Veldt the heart stain? Hold vine Guilt. You have done it. Du hast Eskom aft? You're hopped. Esca muffed. Is the Harbin Esca matched? We have lost the key. They haven't been Schlussel. Phil Owen, They're Harpenden Schlussel fellow one 85. 3 Minute German Lesson 43k: How would you say in German? She has fixed the car. The heart does out of appropriate. Is he had us out or happily it? I have done e having um act e harbeck Timofte. I have seen pool. If you have a power goes in it. Harbor Powell Jazan. I have taken it having a Norman It harbor Gonnerman. I have lend the harbour gland the harbour island. He drank too much wine. They had to field vying the Tonkin. They had to feel Vine got Duncan. She has done everything today. Is he had Twitter Alice come after is he had Twitter? Eliska left. They saw the Berlin Wall. Andi The Berlin Wall in German is de Bellingham. Our de Bolena Mauer. Is he Harbin de Bellingham? Alga zine is the Harvin D Bolena magazine. We took the car with us. We're having us out from its own skin. Omine, We're having us out. Oh, mitt on skin. Norman 86. 3 Minute German Lesson 43l: How would you say? In German he learned German. It had Dutch bland. It had Deutsche Galland. There's one more irregular or strong verb that I'm going to give you the past participle. For we've seen the very first a in means to understand Well, the past participle is for stand in for stand in. We've already learned a similar verb stay in which means to stand and the past participle for stay in was gustan din. Well, you can see how the two verbs stay in and fish stay in are very similar in German so stay in means to stand Gaston means stood fish Stay in means to understand on for standing means Understood. So how would you say in Jim and I have understood everything It harbor Alice for standing it harbor Alice first undone. She understood Michael very well. Is he had Mikhail? They're good for standing. Is he had Mikhail Zang good for standing. They understood because I spoke German. Is he having for stunned? And then you have a deutsche because park in Is he happen for standing than the Hobbit Doyce? Chris Park in She took everything with her. Is he had Alice media. Gonnerman is he had Alice Media Gonnerman. I just thought I would take this opportunity to quickly mention a new verb. We've already had the verb Nayman, which means to take. But in German there exists another verb mitt Nayman mitts, name and literally this verb means to take with have a look at some example sentences using Mitt Nayman. It marked s MIT Nayman. It meant as Mitt name and this means I would like to take it with me. The Germans tend to just say Mitt Nayman rather than Mitt me and Damon, which means to take with me. This is because it is assumed that the subject of the sentence is the one taking it with them. You can use Mitt name and in the past two or you do is put meat in front of the past participle. And you get Mitt Norman. Remember that guy Namen is the past participle off Nayman, which means to take so the past participle off mitt name and is Mitt Cinnamon. Here's an example. It harbor s nicked Michelman. It harbor as nicht mit Kinnaman. This means I didn't take it with me. It harbor has sneaked Mitja Norman. So you don't have to say in German. I didn't take it with me. You just say I didn't take it with it. Harbor is nicked. Michelman. You can say not with me So you could say it. Harbor has nicked me to me ago. Norman on you would be perfectly understood and it's perfectly correct. But more often than not, the Germans just say Mitt Grunemann, meaning taken with 87. 3 Minute German Lesson 43m: keeping in mind that you now know the verb Meet Nayman. How would you say in German? She took everything with her and you don't have to say the word her You would say she took everything with Is he had Alice Mitt Kinnaman. They had Alice Mitt Kinnaman. You could say is he had Alice Media Grunemann because media means with her put in German More often than not, you'll hear people just say he had Alice mythical Norman. She took everything with because they assume that she took it with her. The word meat, which means with, can be put in front of lots of verbs in German and it changes the verb slightly so that it has something to do with with we saw that Mitt Nayman means to take with. So see if you can work out what these verbs mean. Mitt Behanan. It means to bring with or to bring along Mitt Gan. It means to go with or to go along. Mitt, father in well, gain means to go and Farhan also means to go. But father means to go whenever it's talking about a mode of transport. So mid Farhan we could translate into English as to ride along or to get a lift with someone. Meet common means to come along or to come with Mitt Helton. Well, the verb Helton means toe. Hold something so Mitt Helton literally means toe. Hold with or to hold yourself with something, which means to keep up with something. So you're keeping yourself. You're holding yourself with someone means you're keeping up with them. So Mitt Helton means to keep up Mitt Herman. Well, Mitt her Ireland. The Web Herman means to hear or to listen on Mitt Helen means to listen in on something, or to eavesdrop. Mitt Lezin. Well, if lesson means to read what you think Mittal s and means to read with or to read along with Mitt A. Hayden, while Hayden means to talk. So see if you can work out what metta trading means literally. It means to talk with or to join in with someone in a conversation. So to join in with the conversation will be meditating to talk with Mitt are beytin. This means to work with or to collaborate with someone Mitt Spielen. Well, if spilling means to play, Mitch, billon literally means to play with or to join in. If you are speaking about joining in with a sport, don't worry if you don't remember to use thes verbs. But at least now you'll start to be aware of them, which will come in useful should you ever spot them out in the wild. So here's a couple of example sentences Volunteer Mitch, Villain Volunteer Mitch 1,000,000,000. It means Do you want to join in literally. Do you want to play with? If you wanted to say with us instead of just with involuntary Mitch Bill in, you could do that too, and it will mean more or less the same thing. Volunteer Mitt wants spielen so Mitt wants means with us. And so you can either say volunteer Mitch 1,000,000,000 or volunteer Mitt Spielen Violence , image speed That means you want to join in volunteer meet spielen means do you want to play with us? And don't forget that in the past tense or you have to do is use the normal past participle of the verb on. Then put Mitt at the beginning of it. For example, via Harvin s Mitko, bereft via Harvin, s. Midcap craft means we brought it along literally. We brought it with 88. 3 Minute German Lesson 43n: keeping in mind that the verb Mitt Fallon can be translated into English as toe Have a lift . How would you say in German? Can I have a lift can emit far from Can you commit Fallon? Now let's do a quick recap off the past tents before I let you lose some some translations . So to form the past tense in German firstly, you have to use on auxiliary verb for example Ik harbor, which means I have. And then secondly, we have to add the past participle, for example Gessen, which means eaten so it harbor Gessen would be I have eaten. And then we learned that you can change the auxiliary verb. So we had a harbor which meant I have. But you can change this to du hast meaning you have. If you're speaking to one person you know very well a hot is he has Z hat means she has Powell hat means pool has via Harbin is we have yapped means you have. If you're speaking to more than one person, you know very well Z harmon with a capital s means you have in the formal version and then z Harbin with a lover case s means they have. Then we learned that to form a past participle, you simply put G e at the start of a verb and you change the e n on the end of the verb to a team. And if a very follows this rule in Germany, it's called a week or in English. We call it a regular verb on. And we had some examples off weak verbs in German. Balcon means to need and that becomes goodbye house, which is needed. Glavine means to believe the globe believed Kalfin to buy good coughed bought landen to learn gallant lend Xueqin to look for goot. Look for Macken to do or to make gum aft. Don't know made flagon means to ask on go frog means asked. Born in means to live Kvant lived, Zaken means to say, or to tell, gives act, Means said or told Cauchon means to cook and coughed is cooked. Spielen means to play so good Spilled is played. Leven means to love Andi. In the past, we get bleeped, which means loved valin means to choose. Hooiveld chosen for Logan means to follow on go fold means followed 89. 3 Minute German Lesson 43o: so weak. Verbs are what the Germans call regular verbs. There the verbs that follow the rule of putting G e at the start and changing the e N to A T to make it into a past participle on the opposite off regular verbs are irregular verbs on in Germany. Call them strong verbs. Until we had quite a few strong verb examples we had behind Gun, which means to bring and that becomes good Draft, which means brought Kenan is to know a person get can't known vision to know goosed known, beginning to start on Begun in Means started, Brecken means to break, and in the past we get good Parken, which means broken denk in means to think Andi good aft means thought essence is to eat. Good guessing eaten for Gessen means to forget on this Web doesn't change in the past, it stays. As for Gessen, which can also mean forgotten Fang Gun means to catch on and goof. Angan means court given to give good haven, given health and means to help on DGA, Wholphin means helped. Nayman is to take good. Norman in the past, means taken Lezin means to read on Golay's in means Red Zehme is to see goes Ian means scene. It's laughin was to sleep on and, gosh, laughin means slept Sheikh Ivan is to write. Gosh, Craven means written Zinkhan to sing his own gun. Sung sprechen is to speak Gosh park in spoken, stay in means to stand on gustan done means stood target. Can either mean to wear or to carry on? Guitar gun means warn. Organize Mean carried Stephan to meet Good Toffan Mitt, I think in means to drink Good Tonkin means drunk. The very filial on means to lose on fellow on Is lost hadn means to talk. Go ahead It talked and then our beytin means to work and go our bite It means worked. We then had some examples off even verbs. That's verbs that end in i e. R E in and turn those into past participles. We change the even to yet I e. R t, for example, of her body, even means to fix or to repair. And then in the past, we get her power. Yet which means fixed or repaired, Studi Evan means to study stood yet studied fotografia en means to take a photograph photograph yet taken a photograph poor be on means to try. And in the past we get phobia, which means tried. It has a V Evan to reserve has of yet reserved. Then we saw the verb fish stay in, which means to understand. And I said that this verb goes along the same lines as the verb stain which was to stand stained became stand in in the past on DFA. Stay in becomes fish Tandon and that means understood. And then finally I showed you some mitt words. That's verbs that have the word meet. At the start. Mitt Nayman was to take along Mitt behind to bring along Mitt Gan to go along Mitt, Father to get a lift or to ride along meet common to come along Mitt Helton to keep hope. Mitterrand to listen in or to eavesdrop Mittal Aisin to read along Mitter Aiden to join in the conversation Mitt Arbeitman to collaborate or to work alongside, and then Mitt Spielen to join in. When you're speaking about a sport 90. 3 Minute German Lesson 43p: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How do you say in German? So we've learned so far that the past tense in German is made off to different parts. Each harbor Gessen, which is the auxiliary verb harbor, meaning I have Andi Gessen, which means eaten. And that's the past participle. This is all fine and dandy, but in English we have two ways to talk about the past. You can either say I have eaten or I ate. Thankfully, in German, there is only the one version. So no matter whether you want to say I have eaten or I ate in German, it's always just a harbor. Gessen in English, the eight version is called the Simple past. On the I have eaten version is called the present Perfect In German, they only have the present perfect tense. Even though it has the word present in it, it is actually a past tense. So how would you say in German I have eaten Ihab Gessen e Kabuga guessing I ate e kaba Gessen The harbour guessing you have eaten. Either you can say du hast Gessen. You helped. In the last lesson, we learned how the past tense was made up of two parts in German. Harvick Gessen, for example, means I have eaten on. It's made up off the harbor, which is the auxiliary verb, meaning I have. And then go. Gessen means eaten. And that's the past participle. What do you want to say? That you haven't eaten well. All you do is change the auxiliary verb slightly to make it negative. The harbour neft Gessen it harbor. Nick Gessen means I haven't eaten or I have not eaten. And it's made up off the cabinet, which is the negative auxiliary verb. Meaning I haven't Andi, guess in the past Participle remains the same. So we have a neat means. I haven't. How would you say I haven't ordered the Hobbit nikto state it? It happened, Nick, I haven't eaten the car beneath Gessen the car. But Nick Gessen how would you say I haven't reserved he have a neat ahead of yet The Hobbit nicked has of yet Can you remember all the different versions off the auxiliary verbs from the last lesson we had a harbor du hast air hat is the hat Powell hat via Harvin here helped Z Harbin and Z Harvin. Well, as you've seen to change, I have to I haven't in German. You simply put a neat after the have part. So it harbor means I have Ihab Aneke means I haven't. You can do the same to change any of the auxiliaries into negative versions. For example, air hat means he has a had sneaked means he hasn't. So how would you say in German? He hasn't ordered. I had nicked Michelle. I had nicked Michelle. He hasn't eaten. I had mixed Gessen. It had sneaked Gessen he hasn't reserved had nikto as of yet had nicked has of yet. 100. 3 Minute German Lesson 44c: Let's go through the whole list off. Negative auxiliary verbs in German. So it harbor means I have. You have a neat means. I haven't. Du hast means you have Andi du hast nicht means you haven't hat. He has. It has need. He hasn't, is he? Hat? She has. Is he had sneaked? She hasn't power hat means Paul has Powell had sneaked. Paul hasn't via Harvin. We have We're having meat. We haven't yapped means you have. And you have sneaked. You haven't, is he? Ha Been You have. They have a neat you haven't. Andi z Harbin means they have on. Does he have a nicked? Means they haven't. So that's all the negative auxiliary verbs in German or you have to do now is put a past participle unto the end off. Any of those. For example, How would you say in German? I haven't eaten it. Harbor Nick Guessing e kaba Next. Gessen. How would you say you haven't eaten either? You can say du hast nicht guessing. You have to make a guess in or they have been mixed. Gessen? He hasn't eaten. I had mixed. Gessen there has mixed Gessen. She hasn't eaten he had next. Gessen is he had nicked Gessen. Paul hasn't eaten. Powell had nicked the guessing Powell had nicked Gessen. Maria hasn't eaten. Maria had nicked Gessen. Maria had next guessing. 101. 3 Minute German Lesson 44d: How would you say in German? We haven't eaten via Harbin next. Gessen via harmonic guessing they haven't eaten. Is he having Nick Gessen? Does he have a next Gessen? I haven't waited E harmony. Think about it. It haven't next devoted. You haven't waited. Du hast nicht converted or you have need converted. Was he having Nick converted? He hasn't waited. I had nicked, diverted it had nicked converted. Paul hasn't waited. Powell had Knicks converted power had nicked converted. Maria hasn't waited. Maria had nicked about it. Maria had nicked converted. We haven't waited via Harvin. Neath diverted b a Harvard nicked about it. They haven't waited. Is the Harbin nick converted? Is he having next converted? I haven't taken it. Harbert Next. Kinnaman the harbour Next. Gonnerman. You haven't taken Du hast nicht Kinnaman yapped, nextgen Omine? Or is he having nextgen Omine? He hasn't taken. I had nicked nomine air hot. NextGen Norman She hasn't taken If he had nextgen Omine is he had nextgen Ahman 102. 3 Minute German Lesson 44e: How do you say in German? Paul hasn't taken. Powell had nicked nomine. Powell has nicked Norman. Maria hasn't taken. Maria had nicked Kinnaman. Maria had sneaked Kinnaman. We haven't taken via Harbin economic via Have a Nick Kinnaman they haven't taken. Is he having nicks? Kinnaman. Is he having Nick Kinnaman? Now there's one more little thing to note when making a sentence in the past. Negative. The word nicked usually comes after any adverbs in the sentence, but before the past participle. So if you wanted to add any time words or place words or mana words, you put the nicked after all of these. So it hard beneath Gessen means I didn't eat or I haven't eaten. If you add any advert to the sentence than the word Nique comes after those adverbs, for example, I didn't eat here yesterday. We're adding the words here on day yesterday. So in German, you say it Harbor gets down here next. Gessen, we have a guest in here. Nick Gessen. So yesterday is Gaston on Dhere is here. So the word need goes after these two words but still in front of the past participle Gessen, the order in this sentence in German is literally I have yesterday here not eaten. Where is in English? We say I didn't eat here yesterday in German. You say yesterday here? Because any time words always go in front. Off place words. So the time is yesterday and the place is here. So in German economy Guest in here next guessing. How would you say then? I didn't see Maria in Berlin. It harbor Maria in Valin. Nick Kazan Carver, Maria in Bellion. Nick Kazan. They didn't buy the car yesterday. Is he having guessed? And that's out on ethnic Helft. Is he having guessed? Then that's out on Nick Clegg. Health. The word nicked even comes afterwards. Like me. Meaning me. So how would you say in German? Paul didn't see me. Powell had to make Nick Kazan. Powell had make Nick Kazan. So in this lesson, we've learned carbon eat means I haven't do have sneaked. You have nicked and they have nicked or mean You haven't air had sneaked. Means he hasn't Z hat nicht She hasn't. Powell had need means Paul hasn't via Harbin. Neat means we haven't on the have unique means. They haven't 103. 3 Minute German Lesson 44f: It's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. How do you say in German? I haven't started. You have a next begun in it. Harvey Nicks begun. He hasn't seen Maria today Had Twitter Maria Nick Gideon had Twitter Maria Nick Kazan. So remember that if you have extra information, it goes in front of the neat And so we have Maria. And today Andi also remember that time adverbs go in front off the word so literally in German we say he has today Maria not seen there had Toyota Maria next season. How would you say Paul hasn't eaten much today Because he is ill on the word for much is the same as the word for a lot which is feel v i e. L. Powell had Heitor next field guessing. Then a skank power had goiter nicht field Gessen, then heiress to crank. That sentence is a little bit tricky in terms off the word order. And so we've got Paul has today not much eaten literally. Powell had goiter nicht feel Gessen. So the word today goes in front of the neat but feel comes after nicked because radio saying he has eaten Not much. Powell had Twitter neat. Feel the guessing, then East Conch Because he is ill. How would you say they haven't brought any wine? Literally. You would say in German they have brought no wine. Is he having kind and vine go bust? Is he having kind and vine? Goodbye. We haven't seen this film. It's very good via have undies and fear Nick Kazan SZ good. We are having decent film Nick Kazan. It zag would. So I've said Air East is a good instead of s East segment on. That's because in German the word film is masculine So instead of saying it is very good, you should say he is very good so that he is referring to the film It z good. You haven't drunk the coffee du hast in cafe next Tonkin. Or you could say he helped den cafe nikto Tonkin Oh, is he happened in cafe nicked drunken? He hasn't made a reservation. I had kind of has a feel long foregone omen. They had kind of has a feeling for good omen. So here literally you're saying he has made no reservation? Air had kinda has a beyond for Grunemann. How would you say she hasn't booked a table for tomorrow? Is he had kind? And Tish feel Morgan have yet does he had kind and Tish feel Morgan. How Soviet so literally again we have. You say I prefer him before sugar in. How would you say, Do you want to try my wine? Volunteer might in divine Poppea oven vibrancy mind and vine Poppy on I think everybody is very nice.
