Then give three minute Portuguese ago today over the gavel. 2. Introduction: Hello and welcome to three minute Portuguese course one. I'm Karen on Dime, a language tutor based in the UK Andi I wrote this course to help you learn to speak Portuguese. This course is based on the methodology I developed for teaching languages, which I used in all my classes and courses. The methodology will get you speaking quickly without the struggle normally associated with language learning. If you've tried to learn a language before and failed, please give my course ago. We are all human, which means we all possess the attributes that make us human. There's a wonderful quote by a man called Terence. He said, I am human and nothing that is human is alien to me. In my mind, what that means is that if one person is capable of something, then we are all capable of it. Because we're all humans, too. There's nothing in the world that I can understand if somebody before me has succeeded in understanding it. Therefore, it's only logical that since there are more than 260 million people in the world who have managed to learn, speak Portuguese, then you can lend it to anyway. Let's begin Portuguese and three minutes. I hear your cry suspiciously. Well, yes. This course is intricately designed to get you speaking Portuguese in the shortest time possible. I've created this course as a complete Portuguese course for the complete beginner who only had a few minutes to spare each day. Everything you need is contained in this course, Andi. I've set out each lesson so that they could be completed in short bursts. For whenever you find yourself with a moment of freedom before you start this course, let me share with you an extremely handy learning tip that helped me to progress quickly and effectively in language learning. When most people start studying for anything, they tend to spend the first day or two studying for hours and hours on get through loads of work. However, very quickly this begins to dwindle. You might feel like spending hours studying Portuguese, which is great, but you want that feeling of motivation to continue. But it won't continue if you actually spend our studying. Limit your study time to trunks of just three minutes. No more. If you live it, you're studying to three minutes and there are three things that will happen. Firstly, you're maintain enthusiasm. If you want to learn anything, you have to maintain enthusiasm or else you won't continue. If you limit your study time to just three minutes, you'll keep Portuguese fresh and exciting. Andi. You'll be eager to learn. If you spend hours studying very quickly, you'll get bored with Portuguese Andi. It will turn into a chore. Secondly, is more consistent studying. It's much better to study for three minutes once a day, then to study for three hours once a week. A spare three minutes is relatively easy to find, even in the most hectic of schedules. If you make sure that you complete at least 13 minutes to the session every day, it will quickly become a habit that you will do without thinking. It's much easier to fit in the daily three minute habit than a weekly one hour have it. By doing this, you'll become a much more consistent learner, and consistency is the key to success. Thirdly, is more effective memorization. This is my favorite reason as to why you should limit your study to just three minute chunks. If you study something for just three minutes every day, you'll trick your brain into memorizing the information more quickly than if it were to see the information for hours each day it will think well, I see this information every day, so it must be important, but I don't see it very long, so I better hold on to it and make it a memory fast. You'll be amazed at how much more easily things tend to stay in your brain if you limit yourself to just three minutes a day, so three minutes is the key. Set the time, and once you reach three minutes, stop then give yourself at least half an hour before you before you do another three minutes. You should aim to do at least 13 minute chunk every day, any more than that is a bonus. But one is just fine. Just listen to this course and completely exercises, that's all. You'll be amazed at how much you learn 3. 3 Minute Portuguese Lesson 1a: Here's your first word in Portuguese balm bone. It means good bone. You don't Pulasthi em on the end of the word, but it does make what's called a nasal sound. So bomb is your next word? A. A. It means it is. So how would you say this in Portuguese? A bomb. A bomb. You'll start to notice similarities between Portuguese Andi. English words Fantastical fantastical means fantastic. Fantastical. So how would you say in Portuguese it is fantastic. A fantastical, a fantastical. You might be wondering what that little line is on top of the A and the E in a fantastical it's called an accent. Don't worry about them too much for the time being. We'll look at them in detail in a later lesson. But for now, just remember that they are there. Here's another word that looks similar to English, absolutely meant absolutely meant. It means absolutely, absolutely mental. So how would you say in Portuguese, it is absolutely fantastic. A absolutely mental fantastical, a absolutely mental fantastical. So so far we've had bahng, which means good A meaning. It is fantastical, meaning fantastic and absolutely meant meaning absolutely. His a cute little Portuguese word a key. A key. It means here. Absolutely mental meaning absolutely a key here. And me too. Meaning? Very How would you say it is very good here. A muito bom aqui and we too blocky. Now the word a means it is. Well, here's the opposite now A now a It means it isn't now a So how would you say in Portuguese ? It isn't good Now a bomb now a bone now a boom Or how would you say it isn't very good Now a muito bom Now in we toe boom Or how would you say it isn't fantastic now a fantastic now a fantastic Well, how would you say it isn't very good here Now am Wheat Obama key Now am we Tobu Maki. Now you've learned quite a few words and phrases in Portuguese Now, Andi have hopefully been saying them out loud so that you can muster the pronunciation 5. 3 Minute Portuguese Lesson 1c: now to really embed these words and phrases in your brain, let's do some translations. So how do you say in Portuguese, it's good. A boom, A bomb? How do you say it's absolutely fantastic here? A absolutely mental, fantastic, wacky. A absolutely mental. Fantastic. Lucky. It's good here. A monarchy, a bone, a key. It is very good. A muito bom, a muito bom. It isn't good here now. A bone, A key now a bone, a key. It isn't good. It's fantastic now a bone, a fantastical now a bone, a fantastical. It's fantastic. A fantastical, a fantastical. It's fantastic here, a fantastical AKI. A fantastic wacky. It isn't good here. It's absolutely fantastic. And now a Boracay absolutely meant off fantastical. Now a Baki, absolutely mental, fantastical. It's very good here. Amytal, Barkey and we toe Barkey. Now let's have a go at doing some reverse translations. This time, I'll say some Portuguese sentences. Andi, see if you can work out what they mean in English. What does this mean in English? Now, in week one, now a muito bom. It isn't very good. A muito bom. I am. We toe bone. It's very good now, a fantastic. Wacky. Now a fantastic Rocky. It isn't fantastic here. A absolutely meant a fantastic, wacky A absolutely meant a fantastic, wacky. It's absolutely fantastic here. Now, a metal baki now in Manitoba Monkey. Able Marquis a blocky. It's good here now. A boom, A absolutely mental, fantastical, now a bone. Absolute amount of fantastical. It isn't good. It's absolutely fantastic. Now let's recap the words we learned in this lesson. How do you say these in Portuguese? It is a absolutely, absolutely mint, fantastic fantastical goat bone here, a key, very muito. And it isn't now we now there's plenty you can do to make sure the language states family in your brain on doesn't disappear. You can play about with building sentences from the words you've learned so far. Whenever you find yourself with a spare 30 seconds, think I think of something you can say in Portuguese, saying short sentences yourself importantes throughout the day keeps the language at the forefront of your mind. Also, from time to time, there will be a word or two, or maybe three that just will not stay in your brain. No matter how hard you try. What you should do to overcome Vis is right that word down in English in big letters in the middle of a blank piece of paper. Put the piece of paper in your pocket. Andi, take it out a few times each day. Whenever you take it out, look at the English word and say the Portuguese word to yourself, along with a port to G sentence that contains this word. The first few times you might struggle to think of what the Portuguese word is on your have Double check. However, pretty quickly you remember the Portuguese word without having to check. You'll be amazed at how well this technique works. Finally, before I end this lesson, I'll just give you some information on what it means to learn a language. Memorizing lots of words isn't what it means to know the language. It's a start, but it isn't gonna get you very far. What you need to be able to do is put those words together to get your thoughts and ideas across to somebody. Each time you learn a new word, think to yourself. Where could I use this makeover sentence? Andi, think about where you could say it. I am with the one you could say this to a winter in a restaurant. When you ask you how your meal is in, we do moan. It's very good. By doing this, you're giving the words relevance in your life. You'll remember things much more easily if you can see where it's going to be useful. Also, by building sentences, you're subconsciously creating a list of things to say so that you'll never be lost for words. Even when you're in portable. You can do this before going into a restaurant, for example. Have a quick think about what you could say to the waiter when you go inside, this helps you to build your confidence and stop you from having to think on the spot. You will be more likely to speak if you have already prepared something to say. 7. 3 Minute Portuguese Lesson 2a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap of the words and phrases below.
