1. Intro 2D Character Creation for Concept Art: Welcome to this class on Tuesday, character design for concept art. Why relating to the characters as a prelude for 3D, braking in animation, for films and also for video games. I created this character, for example, this a pirate, a gorilla. This is a lion saber tooth, and this is a lioness humanoid. Okay, but what we're going to learn in this class, we're going to create asset price character. This is when I do in the past and we're going to draw with pencils and we dump in a white paper and we're going to convert the chapter using Photoshop. And optionally you can use Premiere to give some visual effects. And this is the work we're going to. Okay, so first things, first, art is subjective. I love the castle, but you can look any artists you connect with. In Mexico, there is a proper practice, makes a monster. And as Benito Juarez say, respect for other rights means peace. So what is character design? Let's do some initial ideas. You need to have the perspective of the character, the characteristics, the personality you can use. Also junk archetypes. If you want to go deep into psychology. The story behind the character, the color theory, the character ology, the study of character traits. Why to the characters creation and concept art. If you're creating a video game or a film, you need to prove. You need a proof of concept. You need to validate creative ideas. We need to get some inspiration. Maybe you need to make some cells, and it's very important to fund. It. Has a bagel for creativity and Pat for storytelling. Good-quality design is about light drama, drama, and Greek tragedy, about empathy and a strategy. And a lot more abs that you can think for character creation. Okay, So why I think it's important for you to learn to the character design. If you want to create a video game or film, you need to validate your concepts and your characters. So working hard on the characters will be inspiring. You can turn them on social media and get some traction and some followers. So let's start this class, and I'm very happy to have you here. 2. Requirements 2D Character Design: Okay, So welcome to this class. I'm very happy to have you here. We're going to see first the class requirements. Okay, So for this class, you will need some paper to make your dry winds. You will need some pencils and some stamps can also, chapter will be great. You will also need Photoshop from Adobe. I believe Photoshop is essential for every artist. Start to dreamer. So let's start. 3. Art Technique and Draw of Character: Okay, so what our technique we're going to use, we're going to use the blending of traits that Egypt just use it to create their gods. For example, orals, birth aside as head and the body of a humanoid or human. The Greeks, for example, go further. They create intelligent mammal K2, like humanoid, with some fixed traits. And also the Aztecs were great. They created these cattle caught because wasp praise panic and for a lot of other cool tool like the Mayans. And these cattle quad means cancellous or birth and caught means a snake. Snake and our bird with bird features. So in our case, we'll want to work with these two chapters that I created in my company. And this is a gorilla, and this is a saber tooth. And we're going to combine these two traits to create a blending in the middle of these two animals. So now let's start. Let's start. Not forget coffee, the secret component. So let us start now. Okay, So we did, we took some pens. Okay, so let's do it. Hi. Okay, so something important to say is that you can polish your drawing. You can give more detail. So if something is not called, you can erase it. You can also do the stump to chair the color value and like do like an smooth erase. You, for example, want to, you can work it in and again until you do like them. Also, for example, I notice that the tip of the saber tooth guerrilla must be wider. Also the stroke to the gorilla has a very big brain and the baker has a small brain and head. So I tried to pull Lake emerge. So this is the result. The final result for blending these two traits results in a merge of half the grades of boat charters. Okay, So this is the result. I want to give it color with Photoshop. 4. Digital Paint: Shop. Then we, for example, we can go to, we click Control N or common name in Mac. And we, for example, we can glean these to make almost completely white by changing here, you'd like a knot. You need to know to see the bylaws you like, for example. So we are using the lasso tool for selecting a mask. So we can only modify the parts selected. We're going to nest some divs there. So we select all the charter by clicking my use in Windows, we apply a Multiply filter. And a lot of this is experimentation. You need to see what you like. That's my metal to experiment and to learn, like having fun and like in a lot of the colors we are giving here some contrast. So we are creating a couple of channels for the face, the lips, the eyes. In red. You can put the color and then you can, for example, try to apply a filter to merge with the current, previous color in the other layer. So magic can happen if you are patient and you are like working in, you in details to a tractor. It's all about experimentation and having fun. So we are giving here more colors. You can use a palette. The recommender is to use a custom palette of colors. But in my case, I prefer to be free and use all the colors that I like. And if I don't like the result, for example, in this case, I put I can remove and I can go back. You also have the panel of the history panel in Photoshop. So I just see I'm even more contrast to a charter. More personality. And I like these, how, how it blends, like the skinny, like gold. And now we're working with the phase. When the cheeks with a part of tiger that has with the saber tooth. Now the eyes. To give more personality. I always remember to work a lot. The eyes are very important. So the final thing that you can do is do some merch. You can have some Accords in PNG Photoshop. Even these, for example, these like rare skin with some filter, you can use it. You are going to use a lot of filters. So you can use it to give like with a blend, you can reduce the opacity and user. And interesting blend and article is about subjective. So you can like something, maybe you like other people, like more other thing. But doing to experiment and practice a lot to the, to the predation design. So you can go to the 3D and enjoy the path because you have only one life for sure when you like the result. Okay, so this is the final result of the gorilla. I use simple tools in Photoshop, the brushes, these filters for lending. Also, I'm using the opacity. When you pick a brush. We need to change the opacity and the flow for better pressure with the Wacom. Also, I'm using layers if you want, for example, the first step is to create a mask with a warm color. And then you need to, for example, if you want to create here a new layer, you click on Alt. And now you can pick a rush. For example, I can give some color. And you can change the type of blending. You can change this.
