12 Days OF Winter Inspired Watercolor Landscapes

1. Introduction: So autumn is gone. Now, it is time for the ground to cover in light. It is time for the lakes to freeze. It is time for the snow to fall. It is the time for the warm sweaters. And it is also time. Whereas at us to paint those wonderful beautiful landscapes and obey bus coming from a place where there is absolutely no snow and no harsh windows. When the landscapes are one of my favorite things to paint. If you want to paint windy landscapes, I think this class is for you. We're going to paint landscapes in 12 days starting today. This class is designed for all levels of attests. I explain every landscape step-by-step, so it'll be easy and simple to paint. Each landscape will also be very different from one another. So we're going to have a lot of fun painting all of that rural landscapes. I hope you got your art supplies ready and have a hot chocolate, are a hot cup of coffee. Pain this relaxing and calming landscapes with me for the next 12 days. If guess. See you guys in the next video. 2. Art Supplies: Talk about that supplies that I have used. Coming to the paper. This is Fabriano, a 100 percent cotton and 300 GSM cold press paper. These papers, I buy them enrolls and I cut them up in water the size that I want for today, I'm using an A5 size to be good. If the paper is small. You don't need much time. And you can paint them very quickly as well. Perfect for our relaxing winter landscapes, right? Well, you don't have to use the Fabriano. You can use any paper you want. But make sure it is 100 percent cotton and at least 300 GSM. And of course, cold press paper. And I have used a regular cardboard to tape my paper. And I have used a normal masking tape. That's about it. For the papers. Let's move on to the brushes. I have used only three brushes for all of these winter landscapes. This is a brushstroke, hockey brush. I use this to paint the initial washes. This is my silver black velvet number 14 brush. You could say this is day and we'd be of the brushes gang. I use this for almost everything. Sometimes I paint the entire landscape with it. And this is my SLO Blackboard with number 6 brush. It is smaller than the 14, obviously. And I use this to paint a few tiny details in one of the landscapes of all the 12 that we're going to paint. I have used this very small brush to paint the details. I think I did not like it. So I have used my silver black velvet number six. Again. That's all about the brushes. Moving on to the pains, I have used three brands of pains, Sennelier, White Nights, and this local brand called camel. Strongly to colors from this band, camel, only the gamboge, yellow, and one of the most important colors in winter landscape, white color. I have used Chinese white. I actually have a Gosh, whitewash with me. But I think it's not a common color to have for our water, whatever August, I mean, not all of you will be having the gosh color. So I figured I would use a normal white watercolor. And coming to feel extracting stuff, you're going to need water jar and a pallet and tissues. I think that's all that applies that you're going to need to get started with the class project. So I'm gonna see you guys in the next video. I can't rape. 3. Class Project 1 Majestic Mountains: Let's start with our first class project. Well, the colors that I've used are White Nights Blue and White Nights, indigo. If you don't have this particular blue shade, you can use certainly and blue instead. I'm going to start with the sketch of mountains. The first class project will be off snow-covered mountains. I have a separate class for snow-capped mountains. But after that I have never painted them. So when I talked about going forward into landscapes, this was the first landscape that I have painted and recorded as well. It's gonna take a while to finish this sketching. There'll be three mountaintops and the rest of the paper will be covered in clouds. It's going to be beautiful. Or then trust me, you can take a screenshot of the final sketch after I'm done and take your time to complete your sketching. This is a very simple sketch and I hope you are done. So let's get started by wetting the paper. Do not read the mountain area, just the rest of it. But I use my silver black velvet number 14 and White Nights blue with a little bit of indigo mixed in it. And I'm going to paint the sky and clouds area. I'm gonna live my bold up and let the paint come down to work faster, because we're going to have to add a few layers of this blue paint to make the sky look darker. Now I'm going to take another coat of paint and I will add one more layer, like I said, Sing indigo color. And I will once again add a layer of clouds. Carefully. Observe what I'm doing here. I'm cleaning my brush. And with dark red brush, I'm going to just drag that paint down. This will help us to avoid the hard edges on the sky and montane area in between the sky and mountain area. And our Mantel's will also be in light color and will not be in blue because we did not take any painting. The brush, my paper is still wet, so I have taken a little bit of blue color and I'm going to add one more layer of clouds. The next step we're gonna get started on mountains. So if your paper is wet, you have to keep risk for dying. But my paper has become dried already. So I'm going to just continue with painting the mountains. A stem going to use indigo and get started with the shadow area. There will be two areas in this mountain. One is where the light falls, which will be in white color. And the other is the shadow part. And for the shadow, I'm using indigo color. The hard edge here. I'm going to blend this off using a wet brush. Now let's get started with the next mountain. And I'm using the same indigo color and the same brush. The third mountain, use the same color, same brush. Still part of this landscape he's done now. So I'm going to keep this for complete drying and I will come back once it's completely dried up, you can use a hairdryer if you wish. Let's add a few details. Now. I'm using my silver black velvet number six brush. It's a little smaller than the number 14. The details in this Landscapes a hard, one of the easiest that you can have obtained. Take a brush and paint and just start a few random lines. The random lines is, but when I was painting them, it well, so my editor do that. I actually painted them very slowly. I just did not want to stop. So I hope you guys are also enjoying the process. I mean, that's the whole point of a painting, these window landscapes to not think about danger zone for a second and focus on the process. Now I'm going to take a wet brush and I'm just going to let it glide on the paper. I'm not adding any extra paint. The paint that was already there while I was painting the details, we'll just bleed into that white part, but make sure you are keeping a little bit of white safe because that is the light area as well. Repeat the same process here on the third mountain. Now, let's add another round of these random lines on the dark part of the mountain, Ezra. And for that, I'm using indigo paint and my Cilla Black alert number six brush, It's a small one. Now repeat the same process of adding these random lines on the rest of the mountain, mountain peaks as well. The next step involves the riveting of the paper. And it's going to be a little difficult for a big enough, but I will guide you through it. Let's take one step at a time. And the next step is letting the paper dry completely. And I'm taking a wet brush. And this is a hockey brush by the way. And I'm wetting the paper very gently without putting much pressure on the paper. And by using my silver black velvet number 14, brush and indigo color, I'm going to paint another layer of the sky and clouds. Well with the darker indigo color and not cerulean blue, because the mountains here are dark in color and the cloud should be also orange. The color combination will not be looking good. Class Project 2 Frozen Forest: Hi guys, I am so happy to welcome you to class project boo. Let's discuss color swatches to have used gamboge, yellow, vermilion heel, blue color, and indigo color for today's landscape. All three of them from White Nights except gamboge yellow, it's from a local brand called camel. There is a very simple and easy sketching. Before we start off last projects, it's literally two lines. But I took a little bit time because I was figuring out where the line should be, the frozen land. But you guys feel free to forward this video. And at the end of the sketching, our Dean of my sketching, you can pause the video and complete the OS will be a simple landscape with frozen land. In between the paper and about the land will be a forest and below the lake with the reflection of whatever we are painting on the land. So I was thinking to paint only one tree on the frozen land. And in the background, the forest will be there. You can finish your sketching by pausing the video. You don't have to hurry. The next step would be reading the paper with clean water. And I'm using my brushstroke hockey brush has you can see my water is not clean. Make sure you're not reading the land area, just the forest and the sky and the lake below. Let's start with the light color. In this case, it's a law. As you can see, I'm adding the yellow color in the lake area as well because the reflection will be there. For adding a low and vermilion hue color, which is orangeish red. You can use orange instead. And I had taken a little bit of indigo color because I don't want the bright colors. So I'm going to add indigo over that orange. And I'm going to now add blue color. This is a royal blue from White Nights. This is somewhat discolored, is somewhere between tacos blue and blue. But you can use certainly and blue or ultramarine blue instead. I'm going to add one final touch of orange. And I'm going to blend all of these colors together. And I'm glad all of those colors, whatever I have used about the land in the lake, as well as a reflection. And I'm going to have to walk faster here because my paper is getting dried up. The reflection in the lake is supposed to be in blue color because there is a blue on the top of the land. But here the yellow and blue color guard mic strap and Gail green color at the end. So I actually liked when I finished the landscape. So it's all good. While the paper is still wet. We're going to take indigo color and stack with the reflections. And later we're going to paint this object above. So currently we're going to paint the reflections of the trees in the lake. If you have seen my lakes class, you would know how easy it actually used to paint these kind of reflections. Just take your brush and paint and draft your vertical lines. And that's it. That's how we are going to need to paint the reflections. Reflections, I'm going to swatch a few lines. To make it not so obvious. And later while the paper is still wet, I'm going to take in legal and I'm going to paint the subject. By that, I'm going to have to turn my board around just to get a good angle. 0. We're going to repeat the same process of adding those vertical lines. Just like we have been in the reflections. My paper has already dried up, but it's okay. We don't need the blending here. We just need to add the forest. Going to turn the board around. And I keep this for drying. I have used dryer to dry, but you can dry it if you want. Using my number 6 brush, which is a lot smaller than 14, and I'm going to paint that single lone tree using indigo color. Painting the pine tree is also very simple than it looks. Just gushing as exact mono. And it's going to give you the best results that matter. I usually use. Now that we're done with the tree, I'm going to make us feel swatches of leftover paint on that frozen land to indicate a few shadows. It the same leftover paint, indigo. We're going to add the shadow of that closer land in the lake. And it's very important to make the painting look pretty same brush and the same paint. I'm going to paint the reflections of that pine tree. Just paint the tree in a very simple way to not go into details. Once that is done, it's time to let the tree and its reflection to dry. I'm going to use the Chinese white color and I'm going to add the snow and dry it buying tree. Remember, do not add this null while the tree is red because it's going to blend with the black and it becomes a gray color, which is, which is what we have. All right? And that is all for. Class Project 3 Winter Sunrise: Welcome to today's class project. This will be very limited palette and the vascular I'm going to use is royal blue from Sennelier and indigo from White Nights, and Naples, yellow from a brand called camel. I'm going to get started by wetting the paper with clean water. And for this, I'm using my restaurant hockey brush stat from a light color. In this case, it's a law naples, a law. And her weight where a minute because I'm going to change the position of the sun in a few seconds. Now we have a son in a totally different side of the paper. And you can get started with hello. And after that, you can add the next color that is royal blue. As you can see, when the employee is getting mixed up with the blue, it's not giving green color here. I was very particular with the colors. I did not want green color in the middle. I just wanted a few simple colors. If you don't have royal blue, you can use certainly and blue. But make sure to use Naples, yellow and a little bit of orange mixed with it. To avoid getting that blue color. You don't have Naples, yellow. You can use normally low, but make sure there is a layer of red color or orange color between yellow and blue, so you won't get the green color. Now, I'm adding one more layer of Naples, yellow. And I'm gonna make the sun look proper. It was almost gone. Well, the paper was wet, so yeah. Now reduced the size of the sun. I just want a small white dot. Now to get a proper shape, I'm going to take a tissue paper and I'm going to wrap my fingers around it and dab off the little paint from the paper. This is the last and final detail that we're going to have to do. Next, we're going to take royal blue and paint of you won't bend. Let's add one more layer of the mountain. Now I'm going to use indigo color. As you can see. I'm adding indigo color just, uh, just below the blue color. Make sure there are two mountain ranges there. Do not paint indigo over the blue. My paper is still wet, so I'm going to lift off some paint using a damp brush. And I'm going to create a few details. Observe how I'm creating a damp brush by constantly removing the excess water, by dabbing on the tissue paper. Using indigo color. Let's paint a few trees in the background. For the whole tree area, tree range, and alternating between a light color indigo and a dark color indigo. We chose read the light is falling and where there are shadows. We're going to have to keep the paper for drying. And I'm just going for a last minute. Details. Still pay for is dried up. Take a smaller brush, smaller number brush and indigo color. We're going to be painting a tin trees. So you might need a smaller size brush. I'm using my silver black velvet number 6 brush. So I'm going to turn my board vertically so I can draw the straight lines. More easily. From now on, it's just about finding these tall, thin trees on the ground. It's important to know how many trees to paint. I was very tempted to bain On the whole ground. But we're gonna, we're gonna go for simple landscape today. So I'm gonna been only a handful of trees. Now it's time to don the board on the other side. So we can continue painting these trees on the left side of the paper as well. I think these trees are enough. Remember we are not doing it. So it's time to turn the boat in the right position. And we're going to get started on painting the shadows. In the shadows, deep indigo color, but to add more water so the color becomes very light. And in my first shadow attempt, I have actually binded dark color, dark indigo. So I lifted the color of using a tissue. I did done the board at all. And once again, now I'm going to turn it again in the right direction so I can continue painting the shadows. Notice the direction of foster two trees on my right are having different direction of the shadow than the rest of the trees. Please do not miss that detail. And now I took white color and I'm struggling just a little bit of pain. Do not know this. And that is it for today's simple and easy, even though watercolor landscape. And like I said yesterday, this is, I think the most favorite of all the class projects in today's class. Coming to the colors I have used only to 1 million dread and finds gray. I will start sketching now. And that 1 million hue that I was talking about was actually in more orange shade, the 100. So you can use dark orange if you have. And I'm going to make spine screen and vermilion hue color together. And also white color is always the common color for when the landscapes. Here, I'm sketching the Northern Cardinal Bird. If you see these boats in Christmas season, it is believed that it's a symbol of hope and joy. If you haven't seen an ad and guide Melbourne around. Take this as a sign. And I hope this word and the painting today makes you happy. Yes. And this is all the basic sketch that we are going to be needing for today's painting. You can pause the screen now and the sketch at their own pace. Now let's start by wetting the paper with clean water. As you can see, I'm not reading the area of the board just around it. A lot of you guys asked me if I am using gouache color on my Instagram. So actually the answer is no. I'm not using a brush collides a plain white watercolor from a brand called camel. It's Chinese white. And I'm going to just drop it on my palette. And I'm going to continue by adding fine screen to the already wet area of the paper. Dynamic spines gray with the vermilion hue. And I get this brick, brick ground color. So I'm gonna add that also. Add these colors to the entire of the paper, except the bird area where WE sketched layer that area alone. We gotta add a lot of colors while the paper is still wet. So make sure to work faster. Now I'm going to take white color and I'm going to add a few drops of it. How it binds gray. I'm going to add a few tree branches while the paper is still wet. This is going to give you a nice background effect. One last step before we give the paper for dying is to splatter some white paint. But you color the bird because we don't want any unnecessary colors on it. What's the background has dried. It's time to get started with the bird. I'm using 1 million hue color. And I'm gonna take a lot of pigment on my brush and less water because of a million heal from white knight is more of an orangeish color and I want a red color for the bar. You can use any shape in any brand that you have. With. This is the first layer. We're going to have to add the details later. So when I'm dragging the pigment down, you can see the color to orange instead of red. So I have to keep taking more pigment and less water. But if you are using any normal red color, this step is not necessary. Once we are done adding the first layer of red color, it's time to darken it up a little bit. I may add a few details with darker color. So I'm gonna make binds gray withdrawal million hill. And I'm going to add this color on the tail as well as the feather. Yeah. Now I'm going to add a dark and very pigmented red color on the beak. Now take very pigmented finds gray color. And I'm going to start adding the tree branches. This type of watercolor painting involves a layering techniques. In previous layer, that is the first layer, we have a painted background and the background, a tree branches as well. And once the paper has dried, we have painted the board and now we are building the tree branches that are on the foreground. This kind of watercolor painting also looks very intimidating for a beginner, but as you can see, it is very easy. The one thing that you have to keep in mind is vital. Adding the layers, make sure the previous layer has completely dried. Step three branches here are not soaking wet. I'm going to directly add white color on top of it. But if we are, three branches are still read, Please wait for a few minutes before adding the white color or else they both get mixed up and uses gray color. Now covered the bird with the tissue paper and splatter some white paint. Once the paper is completely dried up until we are done with today's class project. Thank you for watching. 7. Class Project 5 Sunset & Snow: Welcome to class project file. And today's class project is quite colorful and bright. We're going to paint a sunset in winter. Coming to the colors I have used for colors and total. Gamboge, a law from camel, alarm chromosome from Sennelier and windrows from White Knight. And finally have used by n square from Sennelier as well. The sketching is very simple. I'm just going to sketch where the roads will be. It's just a bad way covered in pine trees. And of course, no. We're going to paint this pathway. Also, a bit of it without adding any color. And that indicates that are covered in snow. There is no sketching needed to paint the pine trees. We're going to directly paying them with our brushes. And I'm just going to place where the trees will be with my pencil sketch, you can hour this. You can directly find them in the coming straps. First, let's turn our board around. We're going to have to work on the sky. And it's always easier when the background is facing towards you instead of being good on the other side. And now I'm going to treat my silver black velvet number 14 brush. And I'm going to read the background. As you can see, I'm not wetting the roads, just a background. In watercolor. We have to always start from light color to dark. So I'm going to first add a law, followed by Alizarin crimson. And later I'm going to add windows. Now I'm going to mix all of these colors together before adding the final color, violet. I'm going to add violet color. And I'm also blending violet with the rest of the three colors. I'm going to turn the board around now, and I'm going to add one more layer of violet color because it's looking rather dull. Now while the paper is still wet, we're going to add pine trees can follow that. I'm going to use the same brush and I'm going to use pines gray. Third, glad these pine trees in different sizes don't add them in a same, same land. It's not going to look good. Perspective wise. I'm going to start with adding biggest binary on the other side, and I'm going to continue adding them in different sizes on the other side as well. My paper is almost drying up, so I'm going to just drag this pines gray down. And I'm going to blend it with that little bit of violet to show that the ground, the white color ground. Let's have a little shadows around because as it, if you observe a frozen land, it'll always have shadows. It will not just be like I'm going to add buy-in screen. While the shadow by distinct wet. It's blend those high. When my swatch of pines. Can we make sure to leave white spaces in the middle of a desert? We're going to keep this one for drying now and we're going to come back once it's completely dried up. Now I'm going to take my silver black velvet number six brush. And I'm going to add a few details. That includes adding those random dots and they're dry. Frozen land. Like I said, the frozen line will have some details. Now using the same brush and the same paint buying screen, I'm going to paint a few pine trees. This create a difference in the placement of this pions. The ones that are light in color in the background. The ones that are darker in color, looks like they are on the foreground. And I do delta. I think I'm going to splash some white paint. So it shows like the snow is falling. Just going to remove some extra white paint that has fallen on the paper, you can skip this step. And for one last time, I'm going to use a hair dryer and dry it. And that is all for today's class project. And I hope you are enjoying all of these class projects for this render landscapes class. I'm gonna see you guys tomorrow. Thank you so much for watching. 8. Class Project 6 Winter Lights: Hello guys, had today's class project is everybody's favorite lanterns. Let's see how we can paint a very simple Lantern in a snow. I'm going to get started with sketching. The land term here that we're going to paint is hanging from a tree. So we're going to sketch the Latin letter, a few tree branches. Sketching part of this class project is quite a long one. So if you wanted to skip to the final part and you can get on base. We're going to sketch a few tree branches. The tree branches, while we are painting, we're going to have to follow an interesting way. So I'm going to first paint the dream branches in the background. And later, I'm going to add the branches on the foreground as well. It just gives very nice background and foreground effect. If you are wondering richer for two days. Remember one of the previous class projects with the bird. So we're going to paint this one in the same method as well. And we are now done with the sketching. Let's move on to the next step. That is reading the paper with clean water. And as you can see, I will leave that London area alone, just that rectangle box. And I'm going to read the paper around it. And I'm using my brushstroke, hockey brush. And also I have good faith. Do similar Blackwell let, because hockey brush I use only for reading part. Now I'm going to directly add the color. In watercolor. We always go from light to dark. So fast time adding a Naples yellow. Later, I'm going to blend this Naples yellow with pines gray. This is Sennelier spine screen. So it's quite dark in color. Rather than giving a blue tint, which is what I get when using modulo are Daniel Smith pines grade. So when that happens, when you are you are having dark brand, it's possible to get a green color when mixed with olanzapine screen. Personally, I don't mind seeing a little bit of green, but if that bothers you, make sure to choose your colors wisely. So I'm adding a little bit of Naples, yellow, and I am going to mix it with Python script. As you can see, most of the work is done by a good brush and a good paper. For some reason, I did not feel quite right while painting the background for this class project. So I kept on lending both, both of these colors together. But if you have completed running or if you feel satisfied enough or the office dry, you can leave it at that. One last time, I'm going to add a little bit of Naples yellow because most of the Naples yellow is gone, that a log-log is gone. So I'm going to add a little bit of it before the paper gets dried. I'm going to paint a few branches. Make sure you paint these branches while the paper is wet. So when it dries, it gives that nice a backbone effect to the branches. To be honest, most of the sketching is gone, disappeared completely, and just painting directly with the brush. This is why I don't sketch. Usually. They have to keep this for drying now. But before that we're going to splatter some labels. Once it's dried. We're going to look on the lantern. I'm using gamboge yellow to view that. A low blow. Hello, you get from the light. Yeah. Just a line. And these two colors together, gamboge, yellow, medium hue. I didn't put the line and just following my previous sketch. Instead of following my sketch. So now I'm going to paint that chain using buy-in screen and from which it is hanging. So you're just moving your brush in a circle manner. And now I'm going to start painting those branches in the foreground. I'm using by n squared for this, make sure to take dark color. Once that is done, dry the paper using a hairdryer or you can keep it for a drying. Let's add a few more details, final details to the lantern. Once again, write a paper using a hair dryer and take light color. And these branches, don't forget the splatters and white paint. And that is all for today's class project. Class Project 7 Snow Red: Hello friends, welcome to Class Project 7. Today's color palette is going to be very interesting. We're going to use a total of three colors, brick red and binds gray and white. But that brick red mix of two different colors, vermilion hue and alizarin crimson. You don't have these two colors. It's all right. You can make orange and red shelled. And the third color, like I said, is a fine spray. And as you guys already know, light is common for all these windy landscapes. So now I'm going to swatch a chameleon and alizarin crimson. Both of these colors are already on my palette. We're going to need to shade of this brick red color, as you can see in the video. So to get that dark brick red, I'm going to mix a little bit of Payne's gray. And for the light shield, we don't have to mix anything. Only vermilion hue and bricolage is enough. So there's going to be total of three shades of colors that we're going to use. One is light brick red, which is a mix of vermilion hue and Alizarin crimson. And dark brick red, which is a mix of Alizarin crimson, vermilion hue and pines gray and later to paint the pine. So we're going to use pines gray directly. And as usual, white color for the snow. This is the swatch of how the two shades of recruits are going to look. That is all for today's color palette. And I hope you guys how all these colors on your palette. So let's get started with the next step. So I'm going to wet the paper with clean water. For this, I'm using my hockey brush. Let's start with the light brick red color, which is a mix of Alizarin crimson. And we'll million, he'll see are done with the first wash. We're gonna get started with painting. The background binds. It's going to be wet-on-wet. So you have to walk faster. And this is a light brick red color. As these pines will be in the background. You don't have to be very specific about the details. Just follow my brushstrokes and paint while the paper is still wet. Well, with a very damp brush, I'm gonna just draw a line. And that is the end of the trees background. And from here, the foreground begins. And as you can see, I'm mixing this brick red with pines gray to get that dark brick red share. And I'm going to paint a few finds with it. And in different values of paint creates depth to the painting. And it's very important to get the realistic look. A paper has almost dried up. So I'm going to add the foreground details. And I will use light and dark because simultaneously. Rent in that doughnut value of these two colors, light and dark brick red, actually is creating the shadows, which in turn gives the realistic look to your painting. So always make sure to use a differentiates and different values. Even if you are using a single shared. That's where the magic lies. Getting started with the foreground details. I'm going to dry this paper up using a hair dryer. Lines the paper has dried. I'm going to find screen. I'm not going to mix a color with any other color, just fine screen and I'm going to find trees. My method of painting pine trees is very simple. I just draw a simple single line and I'm gonna move my brush in a zigzag manner in obeying those branches and deals. Another method, I think this one is very simple. The one that I just mentioned before. Moving your brush is exact manor along the line, center line. So if you, you know, if you find it difficult to paint this, this binary is actually quite long. So if you find it difficult, you can always practice on a piece of paper before painting on your landscape with the same brush and the same thing. I'm going to add one more pine tree on the other side of the edge. Keep this pine tree a little bit sharper inland than the other one. So now I'm going to add a few details to the foreground. But first I'm going to blend these two pine trees into the ground using a damp brush. Now I'm going to paint a few smaller binaries at the edge of these larger ones. These are all randomly deals that are very common when painting a landscape. And I'm not following any photographic reference, just I will paint until the landscape feels right to me. Again, another one of those random details. I'm going to add these dried up tree, trees had some random places using binds gray. And that is done. I'm going to dry the paper up using a hair dryer, but you can keep it for a drying. It's time to add the snow for that. I'm using Chinese white color from a brand called camel. And I'm going to paint this snow on top of a few tree branches. I mean, all of the three branches. Usually, that is Landscapes looks great when binding with indigo color, indigo and violet gray. But that is the most common color that I use in all of my work site that I will change it up a little bit and use this color instead. But if you guys wanted to use indigo and binds great gumbo, please, please do that because I would love to see this landscape in my favorite colors. I'm going to now splatter some white paint. That is the landscape. For this landscape, I hope you guys enjoyed painting this landscape with me. And tomorrow I'm gonna see you guys with a brand new class project. Thank you. Thank you so much for joining so far. 10. Class Project 8 Cabin In Winter: Hello guys, welcome to today's class project. It's a little longer than previous class projects. But I assure you guys it's going to be fun painting this cabin in the winter. Coming to the colors I have use dark eyes, blue from White Nights, bright blue from White Nights as well. You can use suddenly and blue instead. And I have is to gamboge yellow to paint the cabin, and burnt sienna to paint the cabin as well. And indigo to paint the shadows. And those three branches, background trees and whatnot. So the sketching process is quite Lindy. If you don't want to watch it, you can skip to the end of this video and take a screenshot or pause your screen and complete your sketching. From today, the class projects are going to get a little bit complicated. They're not going to be difficult. Just the process will be a little different than water we have painted. So far. You ideas that I want to go far for this class. And that includes a frozen lake. I think as semi frozen lake would be nice. And I want to go try out a few cabins because that subject is always been my favorite. And I want to pain, not the light. What's the landscape without not the light landscaped, right? Cookie, I think we are done with the sketching. You can pause the screen now and complete yours at their own pace. Writing the paper with clean water. And for this, I'm using my silver black velvet number 14 brush. As you can see, I'm being very careful not to add the cabin. And also I'm not reading that aligned covered in snow as well. I'm going to flip the board now, so it's going to be easier for me to paint. And I'm going to take a mix of tacos blue and bright blue to paint the background. So I'm using my silver black velvet number 14 brush. Make sure to not paint the cabin with this color. Paint around it. As you can see, I'm leaving some light color in the middle. Only on right and left side. I'm going to be using the dark color. It's just a little detail that I want to incorporate in this painting. So once I'm done with the background, I'm going to hit the board in the right direction. And I'm going to get started with painting the pine trees on my right using indigo. The background. And these pine trees are still wet. We're going to keep this for drying. You can use hairdryer or you can keep it for a drawing. A paper is dry, it is time to paint the gavin and the vendor, Gabby, we're going to go from light to dark. So first I'm going to pick gamboge, a local law. The garbage is still wet, so I'm going to immediately add burnt sienna color. So after burnt sienna, we're going to add binds gray color. Now we're going to keep this for drying, but I'm going to use a hairdryer. Finds great. I'm going to just add a few details to the cabin. Earlier, I was talking about my various ideas that I have for this winter landscape glass. So I was also thinking to go for forest in window, maybe being a forest landscape to model. And for today, I think it would allow this cabin. And now we're going to add a few details in this light space. So I'm going to wet the paper with clean water so we can add the shadow of the goblin. Using indigo. I'm going to add the shadow of the cabin on this land. And remember, do not use the darkish to shade of indigo. Just use the light shade. Whether you're painting a land covered in snow. Make sure to add as many details as possible with light edge to shade a debt or indigo. Violet. Because, because the, the line will never be plain and it'll never be in a single color. There will always be shadows. And using a hairdryer, I'm going to dry this up. Now, let's add these details on the line. I'm going to use indigo color for this. Not forget to add the shadows with the lighter shade of indigo. Let's paint this dried-up branches as well. And as usual, I'm using indigo and my silver black and red for this. Using a lighter shade of indigo, Let's paint the shadows of these trees. Do After painting the shadows of the trees on my right eye, you forgot to paint the shadows on the left, but I'm going to paint them later. For now, I got distracted and started painting other things. If you want to again, complete the shadow of the trees on the left as well. I'm now completing the last minute details where the Caribbean plate, I'm going to have to add the snow. So now I'm going to take some white color and I'm going to splatter some snow on the paper into the shadows. On the left side chain is now using indigo color. In the same indigo color, I'm going to splatter some pain. The land as well. Like I said, add as many details as possible. So I'm going to add a few dried-up branches and trees, small ones using indigo color. We're going to take my Chinese white color and I'm going to add snow on the cabin, like I've said before. I'm trying to show that the snow is falling from the roof. Lot of people are asking man Instagram then, is this a white gosh? Are acrylic, simple light watercolor is sufficient to paint the snow. You don't need gratia or anything, any other medium. The trick is to add less water and take more pigment. So I'm going to splatter some veined. We're almost done. Splattering is how my favorite technique while bending the window landscapes. And I hope you guys enjoyed painting this winter cabin with me. I'm gonna see you guys tomorrow. Thank you so much for joining today. 11. Class Project 9 Winter's Lake: Today we're going to paint a simple semi frozen lake. I have used Dhaka is blue from White Knight and bright blue from the White Nights as well. I mix these two colors to create dark bluish turquoise blue background. And I have used indigo color to paint the trees and its reflection. And Chinese white from a brand called camel to paint the snow. Now I'm going to get started with a simple sketch. I'm going to first sketch the land between the subject and the reflection. And later I'm going to add a few pieces of land. I'm going to make them in white color. So it gives that land, the lake is semi frozen. Going to wet the paper with clean water. I'm using my brush to hockey brush for this. I'm now mixing taka is with bright blue color. I think everyone will be having turquoise color. Coming to the bright blue, you can use strlen blue or ultramarine blue for this. Now, I'm going to add this color only on the edges of the paper, top edge and the bottom edge. Now I'm going to blend these two colors together without adding any paint, just using the wet brush. There is a white color. Space is forming between top and bottom edges. Yes. You have to keep dot. That's where we're going to paint this object and its reflection. This is done right on the web. So please walk faster before your paper gets dried. I'm not going to paint a detailed set of pine trees. We're going to just enough paint them like that in the background. Make sure you're giving them the sharp edges. Think of this as a background for the background trees. We're going to have to come back to this later. We're going to have died one more layer of the indigo color. But for now, I'm going to paint the reflections of this pine trees before the paper. Let's try it. So I'm going to rotate my mood that aside because it's easier for me to paint the pine trees this way. Got the basic shape of the reflection right? So I'm going to turn my board around, make sure the reflection and the subject are in the same shape and the same length as well. So I'm going to adjust that as well now. So while the paper is still wet, add one more layer of indigo. I'm going to add another coat of indigo to the reflections as well. I'm, I'm taking a damp brush and I will lift some color off in the middle. It's not necessary. We're going to have guard light color later. The shape of the reflection is fading away. So I'm just going to adjust it to the sharp edges. Take that mix of taka is blue and bright blue. It's time to work on the lake. In this object, look realistic. You have got the shadows. I'm going to do just that to those two pieces of land. And I'm going to add a field ribose in the lake as well. Using this dark eyes and bright blue color. And add one more layer of blue because that is just too much of whitespace. So if you did not leave this white space, you can skip this step. Take a tissue paper. I'm going to wrap it around my finger. And I'm going to lift off some paint on that right, frozen land that is just too much of blue color. They're using indigo color, shadows, pieces of land, and a few ripples as well. It's time to dry the paper. I'm using hairdryer, but you're free to leave it for a drying. I'm going to take my number six brush and I'm gonna white glove. And I'm going to add the frozen line between the subject and the reflection. Add the white color on these two pieces of land as well. Like I said, I try to square everything. So I'm using indigo color. The shadows will disperse and lines as well. We just painting a few details, few dried-up branches. So I'm going to paint them under reflection as well. Because bending this detail, Let's add ripples using both indigo color as well as white color. And you guessed the last step, it is pledging of bright color. And we are done with today's class project. I hope you guys enjoyed painting this simple frozen lake with me. I'm gonna see you guys tomorrow with a new class project. Thank you so much for joining. 12. Class Project 10 Winter Walk: Let's paint a soft sunset in Windows. We're going to be needing gamboge, a law. And it's from a brand called Camelot. And we're going to need golden deep color. It's an orange color. If you don't have golden deep share, you can use orange and conducted on roles. Both are from White Knight and to get that purple color for the sky and the shadow, I have a mixer, windrows with bright blue color. And finally, indigo color from light night to paint that pine trees in the background and also the pine tree in the foreground. And finally, Chinese white color. It's a watercolor from a brand called camel. I'm going to take a masking tape and I'm going to stick it at the bottom of the paper. So double part is the background and the below area is the foreground. And I'm going to wet the paper with clean water. And for this I'm going to be using my silver black velvet number 14 brush. We're gonna get started with the light shade. That is gamboge yellow, quickly followed by Golden div, which is an orange color. I'm going to add color now. These three colors together, make sure to give a little bit of orangeish yellow shade at the bottom right corner. Mixing bright blue color and windows to get violet color. Now let's apply that color to the top left corner of the paper. Blend them all together while the paper is still wet. I'm going to make the edges on my left a little bit darker. So I'm going to add a little bit of purple. Again. This am I adding while my paper is wet? If your paper is dried up, please do not add the Scala. I'm going to add violet color on my left at the bottom as well. I think this is good. Now I'm going to take indigo color and I'm going to add pine trees in the background. Since these pine trees will be in the background, they are going to be smaller in size. The paper is almost dry it out. So I'm going to just do not blend is try to blend this fine two years without having any hard edges. But if your paper has already dried up at this days, you don't have to go for this step. Using a hair dryer. I'm going to dry the paper. The paper is dry. Remove the masking tape. Let's start working on the foreground. I'll be taking my silver black velvet number 6, brush and indigo color. And I'm going to paint a large pine tree on the foreground. Hi. This white color. Foreground is actually the land covered in snow. So like I said in one of our previous class projects, the snow line will have to be covered in shadows or else it will not look realistic. So we're going to add a few shadows using indigo, purple shade. A few dried-up branches on the foreground using my silver black color number 6 brush. We're going to keep this for drying. I'm going to use Chinese right? On the pine tree. Let's paint this pine tree on the ground. So I'm using and I'm going to paint the shadow, splatter some white paint once more. And that is all for today's class project. I hope you enjoyed painting this simple and very easy winter wonderland landscape. And this is also a colorful window and the land landscape, by the way. I'm gonna see you guys tomorrow with a new class project. Thank you for watching. 13. Class Project 11 Aurora Calling: What is the inter-class without Northern Lights, right? Let's paint a simple northern lights landscape today. We're going to need gamboge yellow. And this is from a brand called camel. And we're going to need windrows. I have also added a little bit of rose color for the northern lights and talk eyes blue from a brand called White Nights, the shade is very important. Make sure to take the color that is between blue and green. Do not use green color. So I'm going to mix gamboge yellow with tacos later. And I have taken indigo from wide net and Chinese white from camel as well. I will begin by wetting the paper with clean water. And for this I'm going to use my brushstroke hockey brush. Mixing dark eyes blue with the gamboge, yellow. And you can see that rich classic northern lights color forming on my palette. And you don't get this color. If you take sap green or any other greens, take Docker is green, are colored green. Walks to. I'm going to start with yellow color. And I will quickly add that takeaways and yellow mix. From now on the landscape walks based on the instinct. So I will be adding the colors that I mentioned before and I will be and blending them up until I feel good. You guys have to understand that there is no right or wrong in painting wet-on-wet technique. The minute when the pain purchase the people, it acts soy unique. And you can't always control it. Maybe that's the beauty of watercolor. Go with the paint and go with the water. Just make sure not to leave any hard edges between the colors. Blend them up nicely wherever they go. Only rule you have to follow in watercolor is that you have to go with light color first, slowly add the darker color. So faster have added yellow. Later I went for yellow and green tacos, green mix, and later I went for pink, and now it's Indigo. The next few minutes is all about blending this indigo and the rest of the colors, yellow, green, and pink. I'm going to add indigo color wherever I feel necessary, and I will blend it all up with the rest of the colors. Is the 11 today, but I will in the landscape class, tomorrow is the last class project. And I am feeling very, very happy that so many of you have joined and left such wonderful reviews. Thank you so much for that. We're almost done. I think I might need to add one more layer of indigo at the bottom because I want the background to look very dark. Especially at the bottom. My paper has remained wet. For all this time. And this only happens if you use a 100 percent cotton paper. So make sure to have that in your supplies. So I'm done with the background. So I'm going to use a hairdryer to dry this up. Told you guys, this will be a simple landscape. So for the foreground, we're going to go with the simple pine trees. To paint the pine trees. I'm using my Cilla Black or LET number 6, brush and indigo. First, we're going to Bain a few pine trees on the left side. And later we're going to paint them on my right. Now, let's paint a view on my right as well. Using a wet brush. Blend edges are at least pine trees. Try not to add darker colors. Just a wet brush is enough. Like I said, the frozen line will always have shadows. Using a light shade of indigo. I'm going to paint a few trees in the background. Light shading indicates that the trees are in the background. Make the shade even lighter. You can just dab lightly with a tissue paper. Now, let's paint. To paint, splatter some Chinese white color, simple and easy. This module correction, I don't want this nor do beyond these binaries. So I'm just going to correct it using indigo color. And that is all for today's not then lied to in the landscape. Class Project 12 Snow In The Country: Hello guys, welcome to final class project of this class. This class project will be a little special than previous ones. The bending will be simple. A few cabins and the line covered in snow. And this guy will be in a dark indigo color, which is above a contrast to the white land. But that's not something special that I was talking about. Here. I'm going to be using a few unique techniques that haven't used before in any of my class projects. I have only use them for my personal collections of what the commissions. We will discuss what those techniques are in a few minutes. For now, I am sketching a big cabin. And later I'm going to sketch a smaller one in the background. I'm also adding a few details in trend of the cabin. The sketching is quite a long process. So you can skip to the end of this video and complete the US and do not miss the video that comes after the sketching. The unique technique that I was talking about, I will be discussing it right after the sketching. I told you I'll be painting two cabins. I'm going to paint the smaller one in the background. And I'm sketching for the same. The big one here is the focus and the smaller one will be in the background. Now one of those techniques that I told you about is the use of masking tape to cover the areas that we don't want the pain to get into. The background will be in dark indigo sky area. So the cabins here will be in white. So we don't want the Indigo to be in on these cabins, obviously. So I'm going to cover them up using masking. Dave are then ideally you can use masking fluid, but I find it so messy to use and masking. Dave does the job just fine. Time done covering up all the areas with the masking day. I'm going to turn my board around and I will get started with painting the sky. To paint the sky, I am going to be using a darker shade of indigo color. The trick is to not add water to the paper. The water will only be present on the brush. That also will be in very little amount. You're going to need a lot of paint for this. But I promise you it'll be worth it at the end. So I had a lot of indigo to the sky area and make sure to not dilute the indigo paint. We want the sky to be in darkest indigo color. The second unique technique that I totally about is this adding of white color. While they indigo is red. You know, I want to create that smoke coming from those cabins. So I'm going to add light color. Make sure you control the pigment here. Please do not let the white and not spread into the papal. Just add little bit of it and control it with your brush. When we are done with this guy, I'm going to turn my board around and I'm going to use hairdryer to dry up diarrhea. You can air dry it if you wish. Now comes the crazy but removing the masking pay. And I have to tell you guys now that this is not a 100 percent foolproof method to cover the areas, there will be some art places, but we can cover them up later. So I would still suggest masking fluid. If you guys find masking tape difficult to use and there will be corrections later. So only if you are ready for that, use masking fluid or tape RLC, you can use masking fluid. You can see I have to cover up a couple of mistakes here. And for that I'm going to be using indigo mostly. It's just about the shape of these goblins. So it's pretty easy to make these connections. Once you are done with the collections, let the paper dry. You can either use hairdryer or you can let it air dry. I'm going to be working on these cabins now. I'm going to mostly use gamboge, yellow, burnt sienna. Yeah. Right. And the line below. Now let's give this drying. You can use a hairdryer or you can let it air dry. I'm going to use indigo color and I'm going to add a few details on the land. Then I'll take a Chinese white and I'm going to splatter some Bain and lay down. I'm going to add a few stars. You can think of this as low as well, but I prefer it to be stopped. After adding stars. I wanted to darken the foreground area little bit. So I'm going to make a darker shade of indigo. And I'm going to repaint the shadows on the ground. And studies done. We are not only done with today's class project, we are also done with our 12 days of winter watercolor landscape class.
