Let's Prepare the Gift Tags: Let's start by preparing our gift text. For this, you will need a ruler and a stationary cutter. I also use a 300 GSM watercolor paper and a back of a watercolor pad to cut on it. You can use board or some solid surface that is more suitable. You can choose any size you like for the Christmas tax, but I'm six 8 centimeters or 6.5 10.5 centimeters or in inches it would be 2.5 and 3.5 ". Now when I have these cards done, I need to cut the top edges of these cards. I mark an equal size, around one centimetre from both edges. Then you will need a hole punch. I have a heart shaped hole punch from Alex press. It's simple one, but you can use ordinary round one. Yeah. When I'm making postcards, I also like to use corner round, a punch that I also ordered from Ali Express. It makes nice round corners and I think that we can use it with gift tags as well. Our gift tags are ready. Let's start painting. 3. Gift Tag Branch: Let's start with a very simple painting of a branch with red berries. For this painting I'm using smallest brush number one to remove excess water from the. I'm using paper towel when painting berries. I'm trying to leave a small white space that represents highlight on the berry. Make painting more artistic. And I want to add some small dots. The painting, you can use red color or green color. It doesn't matter because it will look nice. Anyway, we are done with our first gift tag. Let's move to the next video. 5. Gift Tag with a Christmas Pattern: Before we start painting, next gift tag, let's practice on painting some simple leaves. Start with a very light pressure, so the tip of your brush is in contact with the paper. Apply more pressure to your brush, allowing the belly to press into the paper and create more flat line. Then begin lifting that pressure off your brush, creating thin line again at the end of the leaf. Practice on the scrub paper until you feel confident in painting leaves. For this gift tag, I want to paint an ice pattern all over the surface. I'm using a scrap paper under the gift tag so I won't ruin my beautiful white table. I'm just painting this simple leaves all over the. Just make sure that you use enough water. Your leaves would look very nice. Try to use different shades of the green for different leaves, the painting will look very alive and natural. Also, it's nice to use different density of the color. I want to add some pine needles on the edges so the gift tag would look more Christmas. This is just an idea for a pattern and you can paint different shapes. You can paint only leaves or only pine needles or other things that you create, and some small, final touches that you already may have guessed. We add some small red dots all over the painting. You may leave it as it is just green pattern. But I like this contrasting details, and I think it looks nice. We're done with this gift tag. Let's move to the next video. 6. Gift Tag Leaves: In this lesson, we will paint the simple gift tag for this painting. You will need to color green and cadmium red deep. Also liner Unipinzo 0.3 millimeters and two brushes, number one and number four, round brushes using round brush number four. Let's start by painting simple leaves from one edge to another. Once sleeves are down, I take brush number one to make a small red dots. Now the gift tag looks very minimalistic and I want to add some nice lettering. I wrote down, Merry Christmas with pencil. And now I'm ready to repeat it with liner. But first, let's remove the pencil lines with needable eraser. One more gift tag is ready. Let's move to the next lesson. 7. Mistletoe Gift Tag: In this video, I will show you how to paint this missile toe gift tag. And as always, let's start by preparing a sketch. Prepare your color mixes for this painting. I'm using moss, green, cadmium red dep. I also can add a little bit of green to make the color. If you don't have it, you can use the mix of green and cadmium red deep. We start by painting a mistletoe leaves with a very light green color. I use different density of the color to make leaves look different once we've painted the lives. Let's move to the ribbon for the whole painting. I'm using brush number one as it helps me to make my lines very thin. As a final touch, you may add a nice handwriting at the bottom of the gift tag. I'm using a liner unipin 0.3 millimeters for the handwriting to get inspired on the nice font, you may use fonts on Canva, or you may also search for lettering ideas on interest. I also decided to add some small red dots around our mistletoe. I think it looks very nice. I hope that you like this simple tutorial with the mistletoe. And I'll see you in the next video. 8. Gift Tag with a House: In this video, I will show you how to paint this small gift tag with a cute little house. Let's start by preparing a simple sketch of the house. For this painting, we will use two colors, red and green. And we will start by painting a house with the lightest red color. This, I will mix red with water. Now, I will let this layer dry, and then we will move to the darkest part of the house. For the second part, I'm using more dense color, so it means that in mixture of red and water, I add more color than water. Also, I add a little bit of green to make this color dark. I cover the back side of the house. Don't forget that the roof will remain white. We don't cover it with any color at all. Also, I will keep the small rectangles white, not covered by color to represent the windows in the house. To make it more eye catching, I want to add some darker line under the roof. It will represent the shadow under the roof. Now we're moving to the last part of our painting. We want to add some dark forest on the background. For this purpose, I'm using green color with a little bit of a red. You can also use just green color and to make it, and we are just painting the surroundings of the house. As a final touch, you can add some nice handwriting at the bottom of the gift tag. One more gift tag is ready and I'll see you in the next video. 9. Card with a Wreath: In this lesson, I will show you how to paint a simple wrath for the Christmas card. Let's start by drawing a circle. To do that, take a simple mug and a pencil and trace the pencil around the mug. Before we start painting, let's remove the pencil line with an edible eraser. For painting leaves, I will use a round brush, number four and a mix of two colors, green and most green. I'm painting leaves going just around the circle. And also I will add some small red dots on the green lines. Sometimes brush just jumped out of my hands. And actually the thing with painting that you can fix almost anything, so I will probably add some leaves just to the place where my brush fell out. Since I had this accident with my brush and I have some splashes on my card, I actually thought it would be a good idea to add some more splashes to the card. First, take a scrub paper and put it under the card. Otherwise, your table will be covered in splashes. To load your brush with paint, hold it above the paper and the brush handle against your other hand. This creates controlled ropes that can result in unique slater patterns. Now it's time to add some nice lettering in the center of the card, and it's done. Now you can see that any accidental mistake can be fixed, and let's move to the next lesson and paint one more Christmas card. 10. Card with Simple Leaves: In this lesson, we will paint this simple card and we'll add some handwriting with lettering. Use a simple mark to create a circle. Remove a pencil lines with need bale eraser. First, I want to make a handwriting right in the center. And I'm using a ruler to make two lines to get some references on the nice fonts you can use canva or interest to find your inspiration. I will start painting by using brush number four and color mixes from most green, green, and cadmium red deep. I haven't prepared a pencil sketch because I randomly place leaves coming from edges of the card to the circle. I also paint some green lines and later I will paint red dots representing Barris one It. When painting leaves from the edges, I use a draft paper to put under the card. Now when the first layer of the leaves is dry, I can add some darker leaves on top of them. And now let's add some red dots on the card, making a final touch. Our Christmas card is almost done. The only thing left is to add a handwriting using a black liner. Once your Christmas card is done, don't forget to remove all the pencil lines with a razor. The Christmas card looks very nice already. But if you want to add some magic to your card, I will show you some trick. I use bronze water color by van. Go to add some shiny dots, just like we did with red color. But with the bronze one, this bronze color looks better on the dark surface. That's why I'm painting these small dots on the green leaves. And now I think it looks just amazing. And we're ready to move to the next lesson. 11. Card with a Christmas ball: In this lesson, we will paint a Christmas card with a ball. First, let's draw a circle. To do this, you will need an ordinary mug and a pencil. Prepare your color mixes on the palette and let's start painting. The main idea of this painting is to fill the whole circle with nice green leaves. Once it's done, let's add some small red dots representing the berries. As a final touch, let's paint the ornament cap. I'm using green color for this purpose and you may use red color if you like. Our Christmas card is ready. Let's move to the next lesson. 12. Card with a Christmas Tree: In this lesson, I will show you how to paint this minimalistic Christmas tree. Let's get started. This painting, you will need a paper tape. And we will start by placing a paper tape on the card, making a triangle in the center. Then I use a flat brush number 12 and a green color. Then I start by making a green horizontal lines and keeping some uncovered by color space between them. Then I let this layer dry. When the layer is dry, I remove the tape from the paper. I take a smaller flat brush. Number two, I'm using one of my favorite Christmas colors. It's bronze bi van. It will help us to make some magical effect with bright and shiny dots and lines on the Christmas tree. And I'm just filling the space between these green lines with a bronze color. Now it's almost ready. It looks shiny and festive, and I also want to add some nice handwriting at the bottom of the card. Sometimes I like to combine two types of fonts, the straight one and the calligraphy one, and you can search for inspiration on Canva. Let's remove our pencil lines with a razor and our card is done. 13. Card with a Magic Pine: Welcome to the last lesson where I will show you how to paint this Christmas card. Let's get started for this painting, you will need more green color, more brush. I'm using more brush number zero by Pao and black liner, 0.3 millimeters, you can use different color of the liner. For example, I have Pa 10.5 It's up to you whatever you like. The I like this technique A as you can choose any subject you like and any color you like for background. As you can see on the examples, I painted a mistletoe and pine needles and it looks very stylish, I think. So we will start by covering the center of the card with clean water, then we apply color to the wet surface Using wet on wet technique. I let this layer get dry and I will come back to it in 10 minutes. Now I prepare a simple sketch with a pencil of a pine or any subject that you want to paint. Just keep it minimalistic and very simple. And once it's done, I take the liner and start tracing the sketch. And now when the drawing is done, it's time to add some nice handwriting at the bottom of the card. You can make some personal wish so the person who will get your card will understand that you painted just for them. The caligraph of font can be challenging, so I suggest you to try on the draft paper, and once you feel confident, you can make it on your own card. And as always, the last thing to do is to remove the pencil lines with a razor and your card is done. 14. Final word: I hope this was useful for you and you've created an amazing Christmas cards and gift text. Please don't forget to leave a review as it helps me to improve my next class and for other students to understand the value of this class for themselves. I hope to see you in the next class and have a happy holidays.
