Quarterly retreats are a big part of Skillshare’s culture. Four times a year, we take time out to connect, reflect, plan, and re-energize. It’s a great way to stay aligned and inspired. This past quarter, we’ve been especially busy. We released our Membership program, launched dozens of new classes, and added some remarkable folks to our team. To celebrate our big wins, this quarter we headed out to the Hamptons.

Our retreat kicked off last week with a BBQ and welcomed new team members Pecha Kucha style. New team members presented six stories about themselves through ten slides. We were blown away when we learned how many creatives, musicians, and DJs joined our team! Afterwards, we watched the beautiful sunset on our rooftop and headed down to the beach for campfire s’mores (shout-out to our eagle scouts for putting together an epic bonfire)!

The next day, we spent time as a company to identify themes from the last retreat (teamwork and scaling) while creating a clear direction of where we’re going for the upcoming quarter: growth. We all asked ourselves one important question while looking towards the future: How can Skillshare change the world? Our retreat was the perfect time for us to reflect on the success of Skillshare and the importance of working together as a team to make that happen. We believe that “we is better than I.”

And of course, we spent plenty of time having fun throughout the week. From team bonding activities such as cooking meals together, late night (and intense!) games of Resistance, League of Legends, tossing the frisbee on the beach, exercising in groups, and just loungin’ around.

We take our company culture very seriously, and we’re always working on building a world-class team. If you want to work somewhere fun where your work matters and big thinking is the norm, Skillshare might be your next great adventure. Apply here if you’re interested in joining us!
