Simplifying the Online Classroom
We’re continually refining what it means to learn online, and over the last few months, we’ve been launching a range of new features to make learning online as valuable, affective and as fun as possible. To name a few, these new features include; Groups – to learn with a smaller circle of students, Discussions – to collaborate with your classmates, and the Syllabus – to most importantly, guide you through class, learn new skills, and complete your in-class project.
We're continually refining what it means to learn online, and over the last few months, we've been launching a range of new features to make learning online as valuable, affective and as fun as possible.
To name a few, these new features include; Groups – to learn with a smaller circle of students, Discussions – to collaborate with your classmates, and the Syllabus – to most importantly, guide you through class, learn new skills, and complete your in-class project.
Over time, we've learnt lots about how students began to use these features, and at the end of 2012 we evolved the class page, aiming to really simplify the online Classroom experience on Skillshare.

On any class page, you'll now see a newly revised class navigation, reducing the number of tabs from 6 down to 3.
The new Classroom tab now houses everything a student needs to know during class. Your project, your groups, a new calendar of events and milestones, and sub-navigation are all here to make your experience as simple and manageable as possible.
Another key goal of this release was to really boost the online experience itself. Our Engineering team have been hard at work reducing page reloads and dramatically improving speed to ensure we deliver a rich and responsive learning environment. Switching from section to section has never been easier.
As always, we can't wait to hear what you think of the recent updates and the new more centralized Classroom.
Wishing you a very happy New Year from the Skillshare Team. We can't be more excited for all the things to come in 2013.
