Apple Design Award-Winner Procreate is a creative app that gives artists the ability to sketch, paint, and illustrate stunning images directly onto their mobile device. It’s famous for its resolution, customizable toolkits, layer system and lightning-fast 64-bit painting engine, and since its launch, it’s been downloaded by millions of illustrators, graphic designers and others who enjoy the ease and convenience of having such a powerful toolkit at the tips of their fingers.

These days, we are regularly astounded to see the diverse range and amazing quality of the work people produce with Procreate - especially in our own community! If you are just getting started with the app, or want to see what it can do, check out these seven Skillshare student projects that showcase the possibilities of Procreate.

Monster Mash

For Nic Squirrel’s iPad Art: Create a Monster in Procreate, Carlos Fins worked illustrated on both an iPad and an iPad Pro to make his friendly monsters. Following Squirrel’s suggestion, he sketched his ideas first, and then used Procreate to create the finishing touches and textures that make his creatures pop off the page.

Feeling Spacey

Inspired by Jarom Vogel’s Digital Illustration: Learn to Use Procreate, Annie Herzig created a lovely, atmospheric illustration. She says that Jarom’s class project “was a fun exercise to figure out some new tips and tricks and become more familiar with Procreate.” We think she’s got a handle on it.

Mean and Green

As her class project for Nic Squirrell’s iPad Art: Using Textures in Procreate, artist and illustrator Herma Starreveld uploaded before and after images of a green dog she’d illustrated to show the impact of applying what she’d learned from Squirrell. “What a difference the texture makes!” she says.
