Update for Teachers: Introducing New Categories on Skillshare’s Browse
We’re excited to announce a change to which categories we present within the Browse section of the site, making it easier than ever for students to explore and find classes they love.
At Skillshare, we aim to make finding great classes a seamless experience for our members. Based on extensive research into what topic areas are most important to our community, we’re excited to announce a change to which categories we present within the Browse section of the site, making it easier than ever for students to explore and find classes they love.
What’s Changing on Browse?
Starting next week, an updated set of categories will appear on the Browse menu on the site’s top navigation bar:
As a part of this change, you'll notice that we are removing the high-level categories of Creative, Business, and Technology from the Browse experience. Our hope is that this change will elevate our most popular topic areas and make it easier for students to access them quickly and directly!
A few more notes for teachers:
- Classes taught in categories outside of the ones on this new version of Browse are still permitted on Skillshare. They will continue to be accessible in other parts of the site such as Search and Logged-in-Home based on a user's activity and preferences.
- To reduce student confusion, we’ve combined some overlapping categories such as Freelance and Entrepreneurship, along with Leadership and Management.
- Lifestyle will continue to appear in the Browse menu, aggregating classes published across all Lifestyle subcategories including Crafts, Culinary, and more.
- This change will be rolled out in phases over the next few weeks, so stay tuned! Please send any questions to teach@skillshare.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
