Follow along as I draw and paint an eye from start to finish. The class assignments look at capturing the likeness of an eye through careful observation.

Draw an eye from observation using graphite pencil on paper. Once you have drawn the basic lines to define the structure of the eye, take time to squint at your reference image and focus on breaking down the eye into 4 or more different values. Being careful to focus on breaking your image into light, medium, and dark values will help inform the success of your painting.
Paint an eye from observation using a limited colour palette. Mix up a few varying light, medium, and dark neutral skin tones and work from dark to light. Keep your value drawing along side your reference image, to inform the value structure of your painting.
Extra credit: Try painting different eye expressions such as surprised or squinted to further practice the skills you have learned.
