There’s a lot of free photo editing apps on phones — Which ones are worth your time?

Photoshop Express

This one’s obvious. With Photoshop being the most powerful photo editing software out there, of course Adobe is going to deliver a great mobile app as well. You can get by with basic features from the free version, like basic filters and overlays, cropping, blemish removal, limited text designs, stickers, and collage creation. Access to premium features are $4.99 per month, or $34.99 per year.

Photo Editor Pro (aka Polish)

My personal favorite, Polish Photo Editor by InShot Inc. does everything Photoshop Express does. Plus, they update the app by adding new features frequently. In fact, the free version offers more fun filters by default than Photoshop Express, like neon & glitch effects. It even has body retouching. The reason I like it so much is the affordability of their premium membership — Currently it’s available at a one-time lifetime fee of $15.99, making it a decent investment if you are editing photos on the go frequently and want to have access to all the “pro” features.

InShot also makes a popular Video Editor & Maker app simply called “InShot” as well.

Picsart Photo Editor

Picsart Photo Editor can also handle collage making, as well as video editing which is not included in Photoshop Express or Polish. For photo editing, we have much of the same functions as the other apps. For video editing, you can trim & crop videos, add voice over, adjust color/contrast/brightness, or add filter effects. Their ad-free premium version is currently $8.99 per month, or $55.92 per year.

Vimage

This one is a bit different, and very fun — It is a Photo Animator app. You can add animations, 3D parallax & zoom effects, and other video effects to liven up static/still photos. There are effects that can be placed & edited like how you would use stickers in other apps, and others require a bit more editing work and effort on your end. There is a lot to play around with and tweak here, but you have the potential to make some very cool stuff!

Their free version will place a watermark over your video, and you are limited to using only “2 tools” at a time on an image.

Their premium version is $2.49 a month, $16.99 a year, or $26.99 for lifetime access — No more ads or watermarks, and you get access to unlimited layers & all pro effects.
