This was my first attempt at taking self-portraits. I've always surrounded myself with a lot of art and passion and crazy influences and I wanted to portray my artful/crazy side with the lighting so I used a projector to cast different textures/patterns and colours. I took into account what you said about using a mirror to reflect something that represented you, so in fact, all of these shots were taken using a mirror and positioning the camera out of frame. I found this SO helpful in not only getting the shot and getting the camera to focus, but also in boosting my confidence, as i could see how i looked with the light on my face, and this is the first time I've ever looked at a photo of myself and thought... wow i actually look like I'm enjoying this.
