I decided to find a way to use gestalt unity in the design since it isn't something I usually think about. I accomplished that with the ampersand/coffee cup/steam combo.

Since the coffeehouse has lots of white space and a minimalist feel I thought I'd use bold, filled-in letters to keep the simplicity and still give the feeling it takes up space. All the elements except the words "coffee house" are hand-drawn to keep the small local business "homemade" vibe.
