Chasing Perfection & Creative Chaos - image 1 - student project

I call my inner critic "Chasing Perfection". The straight lines represent the perfection my parents expected of me. The bright yellow symbolizes how I was expected to be bright and cheerful and happy all of the time, whereas the dark brown and black represent all of the bad stuff that happened and the emotions I wasn't allowed to feel. I grew up having trouble expressing myself, and it's led me to struggle with expressing myself creatively. The second painting is my supporter, which I call "Creative Chaos". The lines are more free and loose than my last painting, and the color scheme is more calm and peaceful. I used my fingers to paint, which was an interesting sensory experience for me. Definitely not something my mother would have approved of! I really enjoyed this course. I found it fun and freeing and a good outlet for channeling my creative gremlins.
