What a fun project! I was excited to take this class because it seemed like a light-hearted and accessible way to get back into 3D. This is my concept art above.
The process of vertex coloring was really interesting, and completely different from any texturing method I had used before. Not having to UV map anything was great.
The final render:
I placed a plane with a surface shader underneath the model to get more occlusion the feet; I turned primary vis off in the plane's render stats, but left everything else on. I was hoping it would render the ground shadows, but there must be an additional step that I didn't take.
Next time I might play around more with the flat shading, there's something satisfying to me about the progress picture.
Thanks so much Michelle! Really appreciate you taking the time to make this class and share your expertise!
