Transforming Character Design With Proportion

Hey Carmen! Great character choice. After all, who doesn't love Batman? You went above and beyond the requirements for the final step! I absolutely love all of the variations you explored. Batman looks so different when his head is his entire body or when he has big, chunky gorilla arms. Great work on the face as well, I really like that you stretched the size of the eyes on his mask for different results. I also noticed that on the "cuter" variations with big heads, he has a little smirk, as opposed to the frown on the bottom left design. How do you think the proportions influenced your idea of what an "appropriate" facial expression would be for each design? You nailed this. Excellent, excellent work. I would recommend going back and really giving the middle step of the project a try: making a basic skeleton sketch of the character's altered proportions. Since you ended up making 5 new designs, you don't need to make a blueprint for all of them, but maybe choose one or two. I think this step is really important in understanding the basic idea of what proportions can do to any character, regardless of individual characteristics. Thank you very much for joining the class, and glad to hear you had fun with the project. Very grateful to have students who understand the key concepts so thoroughly.

you're right! I forgot that step, I usually start my sketch with basic shapes and detail the drawing over that skeleton.
