Active Listening - Class Project. - student project

Hello!

Firstly, thank you so so much for this class. I loved it. Unfortunately, I am not a musically-gifted or informed person, so please excuse how I'm about to butcher the exercise "Engineer vs. Designer".

Song: Skrzydlate RÄ™ce

Band: Enej

Album: Folkhorod (2012)

How fast is the song?
- The song has a fast tempo - it is rapid and energetic.

What instruments do you hear?
- Oh no.. I genuinely cannot tell instruments very well.. drums? Guitar? I think there is an accordion too. Trumpet? This was the question I knew was coming but I was fearing.. lol. I WILL educate myself on instruments more.

What rhythms and ranges do you hear?
- The song has a fast, lively and simple rhythm. The vocalist has a tenor vocal range. I am new to this so I only learned these terms like, yesterday. I do not know if I am correct in this.

What did you feel from the start?
- I felt the urge to dance because of the music.

Did any song sections introduce a new feeling?
- Yes actually, the song is about depression and death due to that. The lively and happy music is VERY misleading. At around 2:05 the vocalist begins to talk about how the main character of this story has given his life in exchange for his dreams and how he is now going to soar/fly. It heavily implies the ending of this man's life. And that verse changed it for me, it made me feel sad.

I think my feelings of happiness came from the lively, rhythmic music.

My feelings of sadness came from the lyrics of the last verse.

Again, thank you for the wonderful class. I recommended you to my friend who LOVES music and would do a much better job at this exercise than me lol. Have a great day!
