There are actually TWO projects in this course!

Project 1: Play with your Alcohol Inks!

The best way to understand how alcohol inks behave is to simply play around with them a little bit. That’s why the focus of the first class project is exactly that: playing with your inks and learning what kinds of things you can expect from them. At the end of this project, you won’t have a finished piece of art, but you WILL have something much better: examples of colors and outcomes of techniques for you to refer to as you continue your alcohol ink journey! Plus, this might help you get over the “fear of messing up the page”...because that’s the point here!

If you’re not sure where to start, don’t worry! I’ve got a few steps to help you get the most out of this play session.

Step 1: Gather your materials.

Step 2: Play with inks. Follow along with the video or check the PDF for some suggestions.

Step 3: Share your results in the project gallery! This is NOT a finished piece, but show us what you figured out with your play session. Did anything surprise you?

Project 2: Make your own Abstract Painting with Alcohol Ink

Now that you understand how alcohol inks work, you are ready to create your own beautiful abstract painting!

Step 1: Gather your materials.

Step 2: Choose your colors.

Step 3: Think about your composition.

Step 4: Get started and have fun.

Step 5: Take a photo and share it in the project gallery!
