Here is an example of the final deliverable watercolor for this watercolor course. I have kept mine very 'sketchy' and made a point of not being 'fussy'.

Play up the greens, pinks, and oranges and then set them off with some brilliant blues.

Remember Rembrandt's trick: If you want your colors to sing put in some gray sections. Too much pure color makes for visual indigestion.

Easy Recipe for Gray: Mix red, yellow, and blue together. Go easy on the red and yellow and mix them into the blue, test on white paper and adjust it until it looks gray. Keep it thinned with lots of water.

A pure color is a spice, not a gravy!

This was my original outdoor 'sketch and paint' along the Slocan River. I have made a step by step drawing in the video which is much more direct and simple than the original. This is perfect for a beginner to watercolors as well as those with experience.

I like the simplicity of the new version that we do together on the video and even find it more compelling than the more complicated version below.
