For your class project, you will create your own flat wash guidebook describing the techniques and supplies that work best for you.

WHAT WE'LL DO:

First we'll set ourselves up for success by preparing our supplies
Then we’ll practice two different techniques to fill pages and shapes with even layers of color
Next we’ll hone our skills by leaving unpainted shapes in an otherwise colorful page
Lastly we’ll complete our flat wash guidebooks based on our experiments

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

RESOURCES:

To see the flat wash in all it’s glory, have a look at this Pinterest board full of examples of it used in practice.

Follow-on classes:

I suggest my earlier class on dispersion if you want to explore this technique.
I also recommend my class on layering to bring depth and form to your watercolor paintings
And if you want to work on your brush control, try this mindful painting class of mine that I reference
