Project description

Assignment:

Your class project is about starting your sketchbook and experiencing your improvement. You can choose any size of a sketchbook but recommended size of the sketchbook for your project is size A6. (for tips review: Lesson 4. and 8.)

This sketchbook is your project. The project is divided into 2 main parts:

Project I: this part of the project is split into two paths. You can decide which one you will follow or you can realize both.

Outdoor: go out and choose a spot from where you draw a sketch. Use one material but repeat the sketch 3 times: First draw for 5 minutes, the second draw for 1 minute, and the last, draw for 30 seconds. (review Lesson 13.)
Indoor: Choose 3 objects and apply 3 sketching methods of your choice.

In Lesson 13 you see some techniques as:

By using a highlighter capture a form of the object, with a Muji gel marker highlighting some details which attract your eye. Finalize by thick marker (review Lesson 14.)
Use pencil softness B or micro pencil softness B to capture rough lines by applying the so-called “Giacometti style” (Review Lesson 7. and 13.) and highlight some more confident lines with ink (marker or calligraphic pen)

Project II: This part focuses on drawing from photography (so those who are not confident in drawing life, can choose this, to first train their hand and eyes). Drawing from a photo is easier because it is already in a paper 2D format. So it is easier to see and capture and measure composition and perspective. Plus small format will help you not to go into details. So keep your eyes fresh and measure the basic composition and capture roughly the form and highlight the final picture. (Review Lesson 15.)

Focus on the geometrical shapes of the figure and find the main lines of the composition. Capture it with a lighter pencil and highlight it with a softer pencil as B5

Try to capture the picture in “Giacometti style” (Review Lesson 7. and 13.), using pencil softness B or micro pencil softness B to capture rough lines. Details and more confident lines capture by using a micro ink pen such as Muji or any other kind. Let it dry. You can apply some color with markers and finalize by deleting the pencil lines or those you do not like.

Any kind of micro pen, 0.7mm, softness B2

Getting Started:

Review ' Lessons 14 and 15: Choose the materials and the size of the sketchbook you want. You can train your hand before starting the sketchbook on a paper or other training sketchbook. Choose a view outdoor to draw. Choose 3 objects to draw. Choose one photograph to draw. Get Started.
