Looking at the symmetrical characters from the cut-outs - I played around with symmetry in illustrator and came up with these characters (below)

I wrote a script to randomly play around with proportions

For the final piece I combined some ideas from the exercises to make a star singer with her backing group - I feel like I could have been more adventurous with this - pushing the proportions more perhaps.
