Before relocating to New York in 2008, Armas worked as an architectural and retail consultant in Tokyo. Through a lifetime relationship with vintage, design was self-taught, learning from the past to inform future aesthetics.

Assembly New York opened on Ludlow Street in spring 2008, focused on debuting independent labels from around the world. Established the Assembly mens collection in 2009: a range rooted in authentic materials, tradition and future-primitive details. In Fall 2012, the womens collection launched with presentations during NYFW at Milk Studios and in the eponymous boutique, with online support from Style.com

A vertical company, all garments are sewn in New York city and currently stocked in over 45 finer retailers internationally. Ongoing projects include pop-up shops with Robert Geller and solutions with various entities including; Helmut Lang, Converse, Serge Azria, Tony Graham & ABC Home.

Additionally, Armas is a CFDA member, Vogue Fashion Fund nominee, avid bikerider and plays the drums.
