Do you find ears difficult to draw?

For me it's their anatomy. Why is that weirdly shaped, cup of cartilage so confusing to look at?

They're hard enough to draw in the standard side view. Let alone anything more adventurous - and forget the back view. What does that even look like... really?

Is it any wonder we have trouble drawing ears when we overlook them so often?

Lets face it, the eyes, nose and mouth are the true stars of the show. Ears get forgotten about. We pay them no attention.

They can't express, and they're on the side of our heads not the front. So even when we're talking to other people we don't get a good look at them. Why would we place any importance on ears at all when it comes to learning how to draw them?

Of course we all know they are important. Anyone who draws comics knows that.

Because it's all good and well to fudge ears, and hope for the best - but the moment we turn the head to look at it from the side, or back, or any other angle where ears become more visible - boy do we realize how dire our ear drawing deficit really is.
