Welcome to the course! In this class, we focus on one of the most essential and expressive parts of character creation: sculpting stylized hair in ZBrush.
Throughout the course, we’ll explore both the artistic theory and practical techniques behind creating appealing, believable stylized hair. The course is structured to guide you from foundational concepts to a fully detailed and polished hair sculpt, ready for presentation or integration into a character model.

Overview of course structure and objectives -
Lecture 01 – Theoretical Part
Understanding stylization, rhythm, flow, and silhouette in hair design -
Lecture 02 – General Blockout
Laying the foundation: establishing volume and major shapes -
Lecture 03 – Hair Layering
Building structure through overlapping forms and controlled flow -
Lecture 04 – Flyaways & Blockout Finalization
Adding secondary shapes, flyaways, and refining the silhouette -
Lecture 05 – Final Detailing & Polypaint
Finishing the sculpt with high-frequency details and optional polypainting for visual clarity
By the end of the course, your objective is to create a finished stylized hair sculpt in ZBrush that showcases clear structure, clean design, and appealing form. This hair piece should be presentation-ready and demonstrate your understanding of stylized principles, flow, and detailing.
I encourage you to render your final sculpt using ZBrush’s built-in tools or external renderers if desired.
