Learn to Read Music in 30 Minutes
No experience? No problem. Start reading music today—fast.
Ever looked at sheet music and felt completely lost? This beginner-friendly crash course will show you that learning to read music isn’t scary—it’s surprisingly simple.
In just half an hour, you’ll master the absolute basics:
Understanding pitch: how notes move up and down
Reading rhythms and note values
Navigating clefs, bars, and time signatures
Spotting sharps, flats, and naturals
Learning basic chords, intervals, and scales
Recognising rests and musical symbols
Whether you’re a complete novice or someone who’s dabbled before and got stuck, this course breaks everything down clearly, quickly, and with zero jargon.
By the end, you’ll be able to look at a page of music and actually know what it means—and that’s a powerful feeling.
Perfect for singers, piano players, producers, or anyone curious about music.
Let’s demystify the dots.
Let’s read music—together.
Praxisnahes Kursprojekt
Now that you’ve learned the basics of reading music, it’s time to put your skills into action with a fun and simple project.
Your task:
Write and notate a 4-bar melody using the concepts you’ve just learned.
Here's what to include:
-
Notes written on a treble or bass stave
-
At least two different note values (e.g. crotchets and minims)
-
A clear time signature (e.g. 4/4)
-
Bar lines to divide each measure
-
Optional: Add a sharp, flat, or natural, and try using a rest
You can either:
-
Handwrite your melody and upload a photo
-
Or use free online notation software like Flat.io or Noteflight.com
Goal:
This project reinforces what you’ve learned and helps you visualise how real music works—plus, it’s fun to create something of your own!
Feel free to share your melody in the Project Gallery and check out what others have created. I’d love to see your work and give feedback!
