Über diesen Kurs
This class is all about warming up — a simple yet effective way to build confidence, loosen your drawing muscles, and kick-start your creativity. Just like athletes stretch before a game, artists can benefit from easy, intentional exercises that improve flow and technique before diving into a more serious illustration project.
You’ll learn a variety of warm-up exercises designed to:
- Improve line control and fluidity
- Strengthen your sense of shape and proportion
- Help you develop a relaxed and focused mindset before drawing
Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced artist looking to add more intention to your practice, this class is for you!
Materials Needed:
- A pen and/or pencil
- Paper or old sketchbook (can be ‘throwaway’ paper)
- Optional: A ruler or straightedge for measuring how straight your lines are
Resources Provided:
- A reference guide of exercises to keep by your drawing space
- Model poses to use for our gesture drawing lesson
Whether you’re building a creative habit, prepping for a big project, or just looking to loosen up your lines, these warm-ups will set the tone for a productive and happy art session.

I'm Sabrina Gosselin, a wildlife biologist gone artist from Quebec, Canada. I've have a fondness for nature and art since I was a child (doesn't every kid?), and as an adult I find the most satisfaction merging the two while illustrating wildlife, pets, and all things 'green'!
I use mostly traditional mediums, chiefly alcohol-based markers and oil paints, but I also use Photoshop professionally as a photographic retoucher.
I also love to share my passion with others, and am so excited to be able to show people how I go about my art process as a teacher on Skillshare.

Class Project: Create Your Own Warm-Up Routine
Project Description:
Your project for this class is to create and share your own personalized warm-up routine using the exercises we explore together! To note: Just like physical workouts, you can have multiple warm-up routines (think leg day vs cardio)
Here's how to get started:
- Choose 3–5 (or more!) of your favorite exercises from the class—or invent your own!
- Fill at least a page using those exercises. Focus on loosening up, building rhythm, and staying relaxed. Remember, this isn’t about perfection, it’s about practice!
- Upload your warm-up page(s) to the project gallery with a short description of your experience:
- Which exercises helped you the most?
- Did you notice any difference in how you approached drawing afterward?
- Are you planning to keep this as part of your daily practice?
- Any other thoughts or comments you have!
Need a place to start?
Download the printable warm-up sheet included in the class resources and try completing it (or not; there’s a lot of exercises!) once a day for a few days in a row. You can share your progress over time or combine a few days into one image.
Why share your project?
Seeing how others interpret these exercises is a great way to stay inspired and expand your creative toolkit. Plus, you might just motivate someone else to start their own daily warm-up habit!
Feel free to also share your project on your socials, and tag @sabbygimagery on instagram and tiktok for a chance to be featured on my page! :)
