Project Overview

In this Skillshare class, you will build your own looping alien environment—from terrain and tentacles to eerie lighting and atmospheric fog. The goal is to create a short animated loop that feels alive, immersive, and unmistakably otherworldly.

By the end of the class, you will have built a fully procedural alien cave scene using Blender's Geometry Nodes, complete with glowing tentacles and cinematic lighting. Everything in this class is modular and built step-by-step—so you can follow along easily, even if you are new to procedural tools.

You will work from a blank scene to a finished animation loop. The included lighting presets, shader tricks, and node group setups will help you get there faster—and make your results shine.

Objective

Create and showcase a stylized alien cave loop using Blender’s procedural workflow. This includes terrain generation, animated tentacle systems, bioluminescent shader design, atmospheric lighting, and final rendering with Cycles or Eevee.

Project Steps

• Generate Your Terrain
  Use the provided node setup or experiment with your own version. Add ridges, noise, and depth to shape your alien landscape.
• Create Tentacle Loops
  Build fully procedural tentacles that pulse and twist with motion. Try tweaking direction scale, and speed for variety.
• Light It Like a Cinematic Scene
  Use the lighting pack and shader guidance to add atmosphere. Mix glow, fog, and gradients to build your alien mood.
• Render Your Final Animation
  Choose Cycles or Eevee, depending on your needs. Add post-processing for extra polish—bloom, colour grading, or fog enhancements.

Deliverables

When you are ready, upload the following to your project gallery:

• A 5–10 second looping animation (GIF or video)
• A few stills or screenshots of your setup
• Optional: screenshots of your node tree, shader variations, or lighting experiments
