Hi, welcome to my teaching profile on Skillshare! My name's Will, I've been working as a 3D Artist for 8 years now. I've worked for such brands as Pandora, BBC UK, Epic Games, FIFA and The Olympic Games (IOC).
I've been teaching since around 2010, around the time I began working in 3D. Over the course of my career I've gained proficiency in Maya, Cinema 4D, Substance Painter, Unity, Unreal Engine, After Effects (to name a few).
As an artist I feel it's important to keep your workflow as fluid as possible, with the ability to explore and experiment with new ideas. Project Overview:
In this course, you’ll take a stylized, AI-generated 3D avatar and bring it up to production standards through a professional cleanup and refinement process. Starting with an auto-generated model, you’ll learn how to reshape and optimize it for animation, games, or real-time rendering—without sacrificing its unique stylized look.
This project is designed to teach you how to bridge the creative freedom of AI with the technical demands of professional 3D pipelines.
What You’ll Learn & Do:
Using your own AI-generated stylized character—or one provided in the course—you’ll:

Retopologize and clean up the base mesh, focusing on stylized proportions and shapes.

Unwrap clean UVs from multiple meshes and apply to a single object.

Transfer Textures from Original Mesh to Clean Mesh using transfer map techniques in Substance Designer.
- Add touches and repaint textures using hand-painting techniques in Substance Painter.

Rig and animated the Avatar using Accurig, along with retargeting tools in Cinema 4D.
Project Deliverables:
To complete your project, upload the following:

A before-and-after comparison of the AI-generated model vs. your cleaned-up version.

A wireframe render showing clean stylized topology.

A screenshot of the UV map layout.

Final textured renders from multiple angles (front, side, ¾).
