About This Class

Song structure is the composition of sequences in a form such that the end result is a song. Students should enroll to find out about structure types and how to better evolve your Hip-Hop records. In this class, I will be going over elements of a song and the utilization of creative freedom in your songs to give them an identity. In this project, I will be diving into an instrumental I produced and breaking down each section. After watching, you’ll be able to structure your own song! This class is geared towards artists and producers alike to better understand song structure. No prior knowledge will be necessary as I will be explaining the process using beginner’s terms.

Daniel Glavin

Limits are boundaries you set yourself.

Daniel James Glavin, better known by his stage name ‘DGMayne’, is an American record producer born in Ballston Spa, NY in 1987. Currently living in Manhattan, DG has been recognized within the music industry scene as an accredited producer, with a unique sound that sets him apart from other composers. Through years of piano lessons, he became intrigued by the art of creating music and invested in synthesizer workstations to develop and hone his craft.

From the start of his career to present day, DG transitioned from a “beat-maker” to an exceptional producer as a result of hard work and dedication. At a young age, DG recalls being inspired by The Beatles, Elton John, Michael Jackson, The Delfonics and accomplished producers such as Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones and Timbaland. Through the years, DG’s sound began to take shape and has grown into what he refers to as “stadium music”, a mixture of relentless, infectious melodies mixed with triumphant, hard-hitting drums.

DG placed his first radio record with ‘Bout Dat’ featuring Grafh and Jim Jones. The single accumulated a total of over half a million listens online. To date, DG’s music has been played on radio stations such as Shade 45, Power 105, Hot 97, Pandora, and more. His material has also been on blogs such as, 2DopeBoyz, Vibe, HipHopDX, and more. He also placed as the top producer in New York State with the iStandard Producers platform in 2013. Now, after collaborating with notorious names such as Joe Budden and Fred The Godson, DG’s success continues to grow. As he continues to work with his team and build his accolades, DG is sure to surpass even his own expectations.
