About This Class

Grew up watching Disney movies? Love drawing and storytelling? The objective of this class is teach you the various processes and Photoshop techniques on creating a character from start to finish, following a detailed process from thumbnail concepts to a completed digital illustration with lighting and color, perfect for your portfolio.

This class is great for anyone with a passion for drawing, painting and a love for Disney Pixar movies, and have often asked themselves, "how do I make my characters look like that?"

Class Overview ♥

  1. Thumbnails & Ideations | Sketch silhouettes and thumbnails for your character. Think about who your character is, how can you express their persona through form and poses.
  2. Sketch & Lighting | After feedback, pick your favorite thumbnail and create a more detailed drawing. In this stage we will focus on how to create a detailed sketch and adding a light source to your drawing.
  3. Black & White Illustration | Once you've finalized your lighting, take your favorite lighting comp and create a finished black and white illustration. I will also talk about the use of reference images to enhance your work.
  4. Color & Final Painting  | This stage focuses on creating color comps and turning your B&W illustration in a finished color painting.
