About This Class

Chose a country and design a poster for the 2016 Rio Olympics reflective of a specific graphic design style, past or present, in that country. Students are encouraged to design their poster in a graphic style associated with the country of choice, or design it with the locale of Rio in mind and research the styles of that region.

Adam Johnson

Designer by trade, Explorer at heart.

Born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. Adam was influenced by art at a very early age. Many of his younger years were spent with brush-clasped hands trying his luck on a Little Tykes easel. Later on in High School he would be encouraged by art teachers and friends to pursue a creative career. Through the influence of his vibrant hometown and the support of friends and family, Adam attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and graduated in 2013. 

While at SCAD, Adam developed a passion for graphic design. Fascinated by typography and layout, much of his time outside of class was spent nurturing client relationships and building a successful freelance network. He couldn't put the pen tool down so to speak. After graduating form SCAD, Adam took a job offer with Under Armour in Baltimore, Maryland. He started out as a print and pattern textile designer for Men's Apparel. Having no experience in this area prior, he saw it as an opportunity to explore a new area of design and learn the ends-and-outs of the world of apparel. Having switched teams, Adam now works as a graphic designer in the Outdoor Department and has his hands in many different areas. He now designs mostly t-shirt graphics for any of these end use arenas: Hunting, Fishing, Freedom (Americana), Skiiing, Snowboarding, Surfing, Trail Running, and so on. His passions have worked there way into the beginnings of a successful career at one of the fastest growing sports companies in the world. 

When he isn't behind the desk at work or crafting something new in his home studio, Adam can be found exploring the great outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing, and especially snowboarding, it all works as a creative outlet that only fuels his design-mind even more.
