About This Class

Ever bring home gorgeous flowers only to find that once arranged, they look kind of.... meh?

No more! Learn how to read your flowers and vase so that you will know how to arrange your flowers EVERY. TIME.

I'm Emily Ellen, creative director of Lola Creative, a team of event designers, and I will walk you through different vase styles, how and where to insert your flowers, and how to categorize and sequence your flowers in a way that takes the guesswork out of floral arranging.

You will learn to:

  1. Read your vase so that the shape of your arrangement always make sense with your vase.
  2. Categorize your flowers so that you choose the right flowers for the right place.
  3. Sequence your flowers so that arranging is straight forward.
  4. Use natural plant forms to inspire your work.

I learned floral design in 2009 from You Tube. Back then you couldn't find a high-end floral tutorial, but with a lot of experimentation, I was able to quit my job as a landscape architect and start my creative business. Though Lola Creative began with floral design, my company now fabricates custom events, creates sets, and teaches floral design and construction skills to other designers and crafty folk.

Now I want to teach you common sense flower arranging that will get you lush, naturalistic arrangements. You won't find this stuff in a course book

I get no greater joy than to see you progress, so please complete and post your own floral project, drop me a line, and use the links below to stay in touch for more videos and design adventures.

Emily Ellen Anderson

Teaching event design & construction, and floral.

Hi, I'm Emily Ellen, Creative Director at Lola Creative.

I may be a workaholic, I may be ordering my third soy not-too-hot-latte, and I may have just snipped a big fat bloom from your garden :0

Most of the time I'm designing events, making sets and stories, or filming our new event construction series.

I began amassing my design and making know-how in a vain attempt to ease my fear of looking stupid at everything. I now know that stupid is just a necessary precursor to learning. When you know you can figure anything out, stupid just doensn't matter anymore. Thanks Skillshare for another way we can figure more stuff out.

Home is just north of Seattle in the upper left corner of the USA. I live with my not-so-nice-to-you-but-nice-to-me dog, my little boy, and my husband- one of those techie startup guys.

Here you'll find a free class on making amazing floral design. I would be honored for you to attend and give me your feedback. You can follow along with Lola on Instagram.
