About This Class

So, now you've learned the basics of knitting. You can knit, purl, cast on and cast off. Maybe you've even knit a scarf - awesome!

Ready for the next step of your knitting journey? Where is that, you ask? Well, that road leads to a hat!

In this tutorial, I'll show you, step-by-step, how to knit a hat on a pair of needles. In fact, I'll show you how to knit a hat in three sizes: a women's adult hat, a toddler's hat, and a baby hat.

We'll be knitting our hat on two straight needles, back and forth, just like a scarf. The only difference is that we'll work some decreases so that our hat tapers inwards as it gets closer to the top of your head. Then, we'll seam it up at the side, make a sweet little pom pom and ... we're done!

The pattern we'll use is called the Big and Little Hats. They're a pair of matching hats for an adult, toddler, and baby. Designed for bulky yarn, each hat is finished in no time at all. Perfect for quick, weekend knitting!

Founder of Sheep & Stitch

Davina is the founder of Sheep and Stitch, a website that teaches people how to knit through knitting patterns, video tutorials, yarns and kits. Knitting is an incredible act of creation. Think about it: with just sticks, string, and your own two hands, you can make a hat ... or a scarf ... or a sweater! It seems like pure magic! And yet, it's actually pretty easy to do. Davina's goal is to share the magic of knitting so that everyone can experience the joy of making something beautiful and warm with their own two hands.
