About This Class
Cost per acquisition (CPA), also known as pay per acquisition (PPA) and cost per conversion, is an online advertising pricing model where the advertiser pays for each specified acquisition - for example, an impression, click, form submit (e.g., contact request, newsletter sign up, registration etc.), double opt-in or sale.
Direct response advertisers consider CPA the optimal way to buy online advertising, as an advertiser only pays for the ad when the desired acquisition has occurred.
Advantages of Cost per action for publishers/affiliates
Compared to other compensation models, cost per action allows you, an affiliate, to gain better revenues without the need to create a website. It offers a lot more of benefits, but the most important advantages of cost per action are the following:
- You don’t need to get prospects to purchase– usually, affiliates gain substantial revenues by generating purchases. With cost per action, however, that is not necessary. You can get commissions in as simple as making your prospects click on the advertiser’s link, or becoming a lead by subscribing.
- You don’t need a website– like mentioned earlier, you will not need a website when you start working with cost per action. You can choose to advertise by leading traffic from social networks such as MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter directly to the merchants web site.
- It gives higher payouts– whatever strategy we use to acquire traffic and leads, there is one thing that will always be in our minds—revenues. Among the most popular advertising models, cost per action has the advantage as it offers the best revenues. You can gain $1-3 for an action as simple as a click and as much as $140 for sales and other long-term actions.
